in my HTC Touch Pro with using TouchFlo 3D,
I deleted my all sms message, but its showing unread count 1.
I tired to FixUnreadCount.exe, but it's didn't work. how to fix this bug? it's make me crazy!
(HKEY_CURRENT_USER\System\State\Messages\sms\Unread\Count is 0)
I have tried several reg edits along with the solutions you tried and nothing works to fix the count.
Its amazing,, I've been trying to fix this issue for a week and nothing worked. Five minutes after finally posting on it I deleted the the inbox folder from the card and BAM,, its fixed.
Solution!
You must change to:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\System\State\Messages\sms\Unread
Count=0Text=SMS / MMS (0)
And ... "voilá"!
Regards.

Must do both
After doing both (Running FixUnreadCount.exe and changing the unread count to 0 in the registry) my unread count is correct now. It seems you have to do both.
I did everythng above and it works, however, as soon as i get a sms and delete it, the number stays at 1 but shows no messages.
Thanks i download it and ran it and now it is fixed.
thanks
I was having the same issues with my girls [email protected] and that fixed it when i deleted the inbox folder from the card!!

Well.. I seemed to have somehow solved my SMS bug accidentally. I was suffering from it from day 1 when I restored my 2000+ messages. I gave up on trying to tweak it, and decided to concentrate on moving my picture MMSes over from my Diamond.
(along the way I concluded none of the backup softwares can really work with picture MMSes.. but that's another story.)
I'll state upfront I don't really know what I did that fixed the problem, but I'm very sure the problem of SMS stuck in the outbox is fixed, I seem to get all my SMSes and only my msg threads with more than 300 msgs take a while (3s - 5s?) to load.
The interface loads EVERY single msg. Doesn't anyone at HTC use MSN?
Here's what I did when I gave up with the MMSes. Something along the way solved the problem. Or maybe I got lucky.
1) deleted the messages that were previously MMSes in both inbox and sent box.
Every single one.
Didn't study much, but I realised through testing, my restored MMSes were causing some problems. In traditional mode, I could not reply to a single restored MMS, but a single restored SMS was fine. In conversation mode, conversations with restored MMSes had a lag, while those with only SMS didn't. The sent/received fields also seem screwed up somehow.
Furthermore, none of the softwares I tried using to restore couldn't bring my picture MMSes back to life. (sentimental value, else I'll just save the images)
That's why I decided to just kill all of them for now. I used Jeyo Mobile to delete those "former-MMSes" from my HD2.
2) Exited Sense by removing it from Today
BTW, this was fresh from a Hard Reset, so there's nothing else in the system.
3) Using Jeyo Mobile, deleted the (previously unseen) folder Conversations from the sms inbox
Don't know why, I keep seeing it reappear. Seems to cause problems when it's not properly indexed. the UI seems to duplicate the latest msg from each contact into it, and that'll be the start of the threads.
3) Clear the deleted items folder using Jeyo
Including manually deleting the Conversations folder that was stuck in it.
4) Back up the SMSes
I had no email, nothing in draft as the UI doesn't index them properly. Only left stuff in Inbox and Sent. I used Jeyo Mobile Companion 2.1. Feel free to try others.
5) Hard Reset
6) Restore the SMSes
Here's where it's hazy again. I might have tried alot of combis, as the UI doesn't index the msgs properly for conversations all the time. Idea was to restore and let the UI index it properly. Here's the possible permutations:
a) I might have exited Sense.
b) I might have left the HTC msging interface in traditional
c) I might have left the HTC msging interface in conversation
Chances are, it's in conversation.
I restored the msgs using Jeyo. (it's stored in a XML file, so other text based backups may work too)
-------------------------------------
I only realised that the problem is fixed a few days later, as I realised that the next few days, I got my SMS reports instantly, and I never had a SMS stuck. My newly received and sent MMSes worked perfectly too.
I'm trying not to touch that msging part of my phone now that it is working perfectly....
Just found out that HD2 I bought (at the same time) for my GF is suffering the sent/huge lag issue though. Maybe I'll try to pin point a fix using her phone. She shld have less than 50 messages, though I did back up and restore some mmses for her previously.
However as I'm about to go on a 19day tour/holiday, so I thought I'll just share my experience and maybe some experts can figure out what's wrong.
Just for your info, I'm using 1.48.707.2 (71294) WWE.
Hi all,
Whenever i get a new text message, the phone does not notify me by ringing ringtone or SMS tone sound or audio alert, nor vibrating the device when there is any incoming text message or SMS message.. This is happening with new ext message or SMS only..
I have checked settings-->Sounds¬ifications. I have checked the play sound option.. Still its not workin..
Please help..
Thanks in advance

I have a HTC Touch Diamnd P3490
ROM Version : 1.93.720.4 WWE
ROM Date : 03/16/2009
Radio version: 1.13.25.24
protocol version : 52.62.25.34G
Have also had this problem, everything was working fine for about a year, then the sms notifications stopped. I tried all the settings to no avail.
I reflashed the ROM and all was fine again.
try with:
HKLM\Drivers\BuiltIn\RIL : DisableSMSWakeUpEvent <-- set to "1" by default. Change value to "0"
SMS notification not working
I have the same phone and the same problem. It was working but I have made loads of mods and updates and now it is not working. Cannot find out why.
Tried the reg tweak above but that has not worked. Will try the ROM reflash later and see if that does the trick.
Any further help greatly appreciated as I have not been able to find a definitive answer to this one.
TIA to one and all.
Well I've been through everything I can.
One person suggested installing SPB Phone Suite, restarting when asked, then deleting it and that apparently worked for him - but not for me.
Someone else suggested to change the reg key to disable wakeup on new message. Again that apparently worked for him - but not for me.
So after a couple of hours of research and trying all sorts, I did a full backup with Sprite BackUp then reflashed the same ROM. Reinstalled the backup and Hey Presto! It now works just as it should.
I can only assume in all my playing with new programs and unstalling them, something has screwed up this feature. The clean ROM install has finally done the trick. Hopefully I will not get in trouble any more for "missed texts" which I never heard or noticed.
SOUND AND VIBRATE ON SMS NOW WORKING! PROBLEM SOLVED!
Good luck to anyone else who has this annoying problem.
here are the full reg settings for this sound notification taken from my device
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Notifications\{A877D65B-239C-47a7-9304-0D347F580408}]
"Wave"="\\Windows\\Your Sound.wma"
"AvailableOptions"=dword:0000001f

I think the sound must be .wma
i got a new touch pro, this is my second one. I always use sms in threaded format. The problem is on the phone, i have to enter and leave a conversation to erase each new txt. (example, I wil be in a convo with someone, after we go back and forth 5 times and i leave the convo, it still shows 4 new messages and i have to open and leave the convo 4 more times to erase them). It seems like the phone is marking the txts read as if i am in standard txt mode (must read each individual txt).
My old touch pro did not do this. I have been through the registry for countless hours now and i cannot for the life of me figure this out. I also did a hard reset...still does it. What am i over looking, this is driving me crazy.
Let me know if you cant follow my rant i will try to better explain it. Much thanks for any help.
same problem
i've searched all over the internet for a solution in this matter and cannot find anything!
except for a forum that users say a program worked but i cannot download because an administrator has to approve your account to see files.
so please if you know how to fix this let us know. ty very much!!
ps this isn't the problem where all messages deleted and still says 1 . its when u receive more than one message from same user in the same threaded txt message. you have to go out and come back in the thread to get rid of each unread message.
I always have a 1 indication on my messages even though there is no new message. it goes away when i delete all messages but it returns + the true number of new messages when as they come in. it also shows up in the windows messaging as 1 new in inbox even though there is not. I have soft reset and cannot find a way to erase the damn thing. Anyone else have this issue or know how to help?
Just go to the mail tab click on one of the mail then click the menu option the click on the Inbox. From the Inbox it has several acct. just go thought them and form the mail you haven't read or delete.
it seems to be a winmo issue, i have gone into the registry and deleted the count and it returns, I have no unread anything anywhere and dont even have any messages at all but it always says "Inbox (1)" no matter what...
then try this cab put that in the window reg.
what does it do?
it replaces the internal massages to zero. I got this zip file few weeks ago when I having same issue.
u sure u sent me the correct file, thats not a cab nor is there a cab in the zip file, its a dll...
in any case the .dll does nothing for my problem...

there are posts everywhere, do a search on google if this one doesnt work
worked like a charm, thank you, i must have been mistaken when i thought it was a winmo 6.5 issue because thats when it first happend so thats what i was searching for. Thanks again, awesome little program...
I have noticed that my stock message app is slow to update after sending a message or once I have received one it take a couple of secs for it to show at the top. After I had installed my current rom and my messages were empty it was fine and really quick, but after restoring my 10K of texts its back to a go slow. Any tips (apart from deleting them all) to get the speed back?
Try different sms app?
Any suggestions?
I'm having the same problem here. I tried to solve it by limiting the number of texts per thread to 200 through the settings of the messaging app, but my phone seems to ignore the setting altogether. Is anyone else having this particular problem? Any suggestions on how to fix it? I've tried to delete and restore everything numerous times, to no avail.

i dont think its ignoring it. do you have mms messages in your thread as well? cuz mine is set to 200 cap but some are 201, 203, etc due to mms messages being count separately from the 200. you can cap the # of stored mms messages as well. mine is at 20 which is prolly why 200 isnt the official cap
I have some MMS messages, but one of my conversation threads is showing 3677 messages. Go figure.
I know you don't want to delete them, but somewhere in your phone is a database storing 10,000 messages. Personally, I fail to remember all the things I need to do on any given day. I'd give the phone a break and delete them. Just use an SMS backup app that saves them to your Gmail, and you're set.
