Has this happened to anyone else? I have few pictures on my sdcard that used to show up in thumbnail views where i can select them, now some of them are greyed out with an esclamation mark. Does this mean its time for a new sdcard? By the way does a faster sdcar mean faster phone performance? Because i have a 2gb kingston, im thinking of going up to 4gb class 4 PNY brand. Suggestions devs?
i had this happen, IIRC, i had to hard reset........
but before u do that..........
try putting the pics and anything else you want to save on the computer so u dont loose them. then reformat your card. soft reset your phone, then transfer everything back.
that should work, but if it doesnt , hard reset would probably be the next step
Ok thanks man, ill try that. I have noticed that some of the photos when i pull them off the sdcard, they are corrupt also. Do you think a better sd card would help?
I had this happen to me as well. It would be fine for awhile, then do that and when I went into ca,era app it would say no sd card inserted. I'd restart and it would be fine and pics would show for about 10min then it would do it again. I plugged my phone into the computer and and mounted it. Then a screen popped up and said some of the files on the disk were corrupt and if I would like to try to repair so I said yes. It fixed it and it really hasn't happened since (maybe once, but restarted and been fine since). I'm running an 8gb card with root.

Okay, so my phone has done this a couple times now, and I don't know why its doing it, or how to avoid it. I've inserted a new memory card and it works fine. Then, after I take the card out once, the phone won't recognize it anymore, and I can't reformat it to make it work...then out of the blue, it will work again for a week or so... its getting annoying... any thoughts?
So after playing around with ROM manager and getting the new CW recovery to work, I think I legitimately bricked my poor Xoom wifi.
Here's where we are now.
Power button doesn't work. Hard reset doesn't work. Getting to RSD/Fastboot doesn't work. USB connection isn't recognized (windows/linux). No lights work. A/C charger doesn't appear to work. Nothing happens at any direction.
So far, there is zero indication that the device is even powering at all. Yes, it's charged. Just a giant, solid black screen that is mocking me. :[
The last thing I did was partition the SD card. (trying to install new Tia kernel). Rebooted, worked fine. Powered down. Now it won't respond to anything.
Think I'm going to go sacrifice a virgin and see if that helps.
Thoughts? Or should I just go back to Best Buy and beg?
Sorry if this is all over the place. Having one of those "holy $ I have a $600 paperweight!" moments. Heh.

THE CHARGING LIGHT WORKS!.. when connected to A/C now. Nothing else does.. but that one light works.. progress is progress..
Hope you're still within your return period. My understanding is the Xooms internal storage is labeled as sdcard and the actual sdcard is sdcard2. So by "formatting the sdcard" you essentially formatted the Xooms 32GB internal memory.

I partitioned a 4M chunk of it to put the recovery image on it. So.. would that explain it being completely nonresponsive? The only thing I got out of it today is that the charging light was white and then green when it was fully charged. Otherwise nothing works I am within my return period but I'm traveling...until my return period is up. Boy, this is just a bad situation, is it not? Haha
That would explain it being non-responsive.
Anything that can be done? Or do I have to start playing phone and shipping tag with Motorola at this point?
And if I do send it to motorola and they get the OS back on there.. how would they do it?
First off: did you partition the internal storage or are you running Tiamat with sdcard support?

In the recover module, I went to partition SD card, then partitioned it to 4MB. (The image is 3 and change). Whether or not it was internal or external, I couldn't tell you. I don't have an external SD card. So yes, I made a rookie mistake on that one.
I'm glad I wrote this down: Another thing, when I had it hooked up via USB and mounted the USB storage in recovery, a prompt came up in windows saying "you need to format this drive in order to use it." so.. I copied the /sdcard/ contents (cause that's what I thought it was talking about) to my PC and formatted it. I could only format it to 3MB. That's what led me to trying to partition the SD card so I could put the recovery image on whatever drive was there.
Yeah.. the more I think about this the more of a rookie mistake it was. I'm sure I formatted something that had critical operating system files on it and that's why I can't even get the thing to boot. A:LKFJ;-
My TF doesn't recognize microsd cards that are inserted when it is powered on, even if the previous card was correctly unmounted first. I have to restart the TF, then it will recognize the card.
I have the latest FW from the Asus site.
Does anyone else have this problem?
Anyone? I'm starting to wonder if my TF is defective.
I do not have this issue. I swapped a couple of microSD cards and it would read both, detect when one is inserted and taken out.
Have you tried updating the firmware to see if that resolves the issue?
It's not defective. It's Asus' workaround so that we even have a working microsd slot, until honeycomb gets the official update. So for now you will have to restart each time to get it recognised, if you have this problem. It probably depends on the type of card you have too.
I've had it not recognize my microsd card a couple times. Though all I had to do was wait a few seconds before popping it back in and it read it fine after the 2nd or 3rd try.
It make take reformatting the card. I had this issue until I reformatted the card.

Seen the same.
I've seen this behavior on my TF also. Sometimes I just wait a little bit before i try to put it back in. I've also noticed that if i took the card out and then proceeded to transfer huge amounts of files, when i put it back in the card will mount properly. I suspect this has something to do with the tablet going completely in to sleep and resetting the card state hence becoming responsive to card insertion after a an extended amount of time.

Hey,
I have had my infuse for almost a month now. It has only been altered by changing out a 16 gb sd card for the stock 2 gb, and the Regina launcher. When it starts to slow down, I power it down (about once a week). When I power it up again, it won't read the sd card and says its damaged. If I pull the card and replace it (sometimes it takes a couple of tries) it will start reading it again.
This is a pain since I keep it in the super snug otter box case. Any idea what I should do? This happened with my moms infuse as well and she has the stock sd card.
Thanks,
Rachael

Plug it into your computer and backup everything on the SD card to your computer. Format the external SD card in FAT format. Be selective about what you copy back to teh SD card after formatting. In the DCIM folder, there should be a thumbnails folder. Delete that folder. Pics will take a while to load the first time as the Gallery rebuilds thumbnails.
This used to happen a lot on my old G1. Hasn't happened since that phone though.. weird.. just noticed that...
Hello all!
I have a 4GB Micro SD card, that came with my mother's old phone and worked fine. I found it and put it in my phone, but after a few days it appears to android as "DAMAGED" all of a sudden. My phone is HTC Desire Z. It happened after I formatted it to delete a load of pictures my brother had taken after he went on my phone (hes young lol!) When I use something like USB Mass Storage, it will happen then, after reboots it happens, all different times. I have checked it in Windows, I have done slow formats on it, (I have yet to try formatting it under my linux system, hoping this will do the trick) I have done everything. Please help me as I dont want to have to buy a new one just yet!
Thanks, Will.
