[REQ] Blackberry Connect & WM6.5 - Touch Pro, Fuze General

I am hacing up a cab file for those that want to use BBC on WM6.5. BBC will not work out of the box on newer 6.5 roms & I am going to fix that, but I need a little help from other BBC users.
I need someone with 6.1 + working BBC to go into Settings/Connections/Connections/Advanced/Select Networks - & select blackberry in one of the two network management drop down boxes. Then select edit & go thru all of the pages recording all of the tabs & all of the advanced screens & record all of the data in the fill boxes including the proxy & port information.
Can anyone help out with this so we don't have to wait for HTC to fix things? We all know how long that'll take, if we leave it up to them.
Thanks!

Hi GSLEON,
How are you getting on with this? I have recently upgraded my ROM to WM6.5 because I read it was less buggy than 6.1. Plus I am now using Rhodium ROM 2.07.Gen.Y. I love the new ROM and when flashing, I install Blackberry last of all because my Company has a silly security policy thing and you need to do lots of soft resets between flashing a new ROM and having your perfect phone.
Now I can't get the Blackberry to work. I briefly got version 106 working (for a split second) and received 2 emails, 1 from System and 1 from my personal email account, but thereafter it has not managed to connect. It will connect to Blackberry for a split second if I click on the Register Now tab, but that is it. I don't get a PIN on versions 97 or 104. I am going to try 103 now, but don't hold out any hope.
If I can't get Blackberry to work on my phone, then I will have to revert back to a different ROM and WM6.1....
I will also continue to trawl through the forums including SEMS to see if anyone has got 6.5 to work.....

Hi,
I have an Hermes and would like BBC to work on WM 6.5...
Have you managed to do something about this ?
Thanks

Any luck with this? I even tried the latest BlackBerry Connect 4.0.0.106 and couldn't get to the work. Rolling back to 6.1 until BB Connect works with WM6.5.

Have you guys looked here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=510461
It seems to work. I can get it to work using BES, but not with BIS...

Ha, success! With a little tweaking/resetting anyway. Thanks for the link.

Did you manage to get BIS working, or just BES?

Like you, just the BES. Unfortunately though, soon thereafter the whole rig crashed and seems to have reset back to post-flash first boot status. But that's probably best for another thread....seems like it happened right around the time i was installing some apps that worked fine for WM6.1 in the past.

Thanks man, will try and feed you back

Ok i need a rom, someone point me in the right direction

Ok, so heres what i need out of a rom, im not afraid of a kitchen but if its alrady done id like it :
Default imate splash screen and default WM6 splash screen (No watermarks or royalties taken by the develloper)
standard layout, icons and feature set, the same apps imate would have installed if they made the rom (no 3rd party stuff)
little or no extended rom, or even the default WM5 jasjar set will do fine.
full drivers for Wifi, bluetooth and radio,
Unlocked, default WM6 theme only, sms, camera, video calling, windows messenger and mms must work as reliably as possible, GPRS and UMTS connections must be alright.
No preloaded operator settings
no other preinstalled applications,
decent battery life, decent free memory available
anyone able to help me ?????
Every WM6 ROM (and most WM5) has a nice startpost, and tons of info in the posts belonging to the specific ROM. Pretty much everything can be found there.
My advice: read my friend, read
FIY: If you want your device to work at its best, go for the latest version of the original factory made ROM. The custom ones are fantastic, but may not always be what youre looking for.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again: Just try all of the ROMs here (or just the stickied ones...) and then tell us which one you like. Each Universal seems to have its own little glitches - so there is no way to tell you which one is "best"
btw If you need stability and everything working perfectly - grab the latest WM5 ROM from your manufacturer...

I did that and there was nothing new.So I called the local manufacturer's service center and guess what I went through.Check my post in another thread
"why use wm5 over wm6."
I presume that you've tried looking at the I-Mate website (while being logged in as a member)
I looked at the other rebranders, and the only one that has a ROM is O2 - however you must have an O2 Xda Exec. Lucky I do...
See if this link works:
http://www.my-xda.com/downloads/Xda_Exec_Upgrade_v1.30.162.exe
If not, I'll have to upload it to my webserver...
btw To answer your question, it would appear that latest version of WM5 is V1.30.162 (from O2)

Opinion Question re: making your tilt fast and stable

Hi,
I'm new to this but after much reading (then some finger crossing) I flashed my ROM and got Dutty's New Years edition v3 Final. I loved it!! (THANKS!)
And this could be feedback on bugs within the Duttys Final v3 but I don't think it's his ROM, I think its me. I'm having two problems since the change:
1. Can't get gmail. While my Messaging Email initially worked fine after Dutty's v3 install this has recently changed. Now my gmail accounts don't work.. one started working again briefly but stopped, when I click Send/Receive it says Dialed: isp.cingular Cannot connect for unknown reason - should I change this to wap.cingular? I am using the right radio, the default one for Tilt / the dutty's v3.
2. Slower, laggy response: After installing the new ROM I downloaded a lot of programs I use frequently - SPB pocket plus, intent midlet manager, SPB Diary, google maps, Phat Notes, Opera, SuperDoku, Brain Evolution, ListPro, SK Tools, etc.. I installed the ones I could on the storage card. Unfortunately I'm having some problems with slowness, programs crashing.. Did I add too many programs and bog it down? (all the mentioned programs are in storage memory) Or is there a conflict with one of the programs I added? Would it help to use one of the LITE roms as there are a lot of programs I don't use that are on the Duttys NewYr v3FINAL? i.e. Total Commander - I can't find a lot of them to uninstall because when I do "Remove Programs" it just shows the Storage Card programs.
Thanks for yr help and opinions,
h

LOL @ Hexane.
It's very simple for your gmail to be fixed. Have you tried installing any network configuration cabs that are floating around everywhere on this forum.
You can also change it manually by going to Start > Settings > Connections > Connections > Advanced > Select Networks > Edit (MY ISP) > Edit > Next > change isp.cingular to wap.cingular > Next > Change [email protected] to [email protected] - Hit Finish and you should be good to go. Or you can just install the cab below.
For the second part of your question. I would re-flash the ROM you want and then read the instructions in my signature "Thing to do Before and After Flash to a ROM" on how to do a hard reset on your phone just after you flash. I guarantee this will fix your slow / laggy response on your phone.
Dutty's V4 is BLAZINGLY fast!!!

Thank you alltheway!
I downloaded your cab (didn't install it yet as email mysteriously started working again) and read your "Things to Do" post (and bookmarked it for next ROM).
Very tempted to try Duttys V4 now but will hold off, afraid of the office/gps not working.. I use gps with google maps a LOT at work.. maybe wait for another version. Not brave enough to be a beta tester at my super newbie stage

Absolutely no issue here running GPS with Google Maps. Works flawlessly with 3 different radios. 1.27.12.11, 1.27.12.32, 1.27.15.32
No issues. As far as the MS Office. Unless you are creating new document you should have any issues. There is also a fix for this already. If you read Dutty's thread in the second post Rzanology has posted where the fix is.
You should flash to dutty's ROM!
Is there a speed benefit when you cook in a program when compared to installing it manually?
ie is the kaiser faster, does the program run faster?

No MMS - How Can I Enable/Add It?

Hi guys,
I downloaded a few ROM's over the last few days because I was not happy with some features or the stability of them. Eventually I decided upon Tomal's 8.81 ROM.
I am new to the HTC Universal and indeed Windows Mobile in general, though I am starting to grasp it. I purchased a Movistar version (Spanish) and corrected the keypad settings for the spanish language etc, but I have since realised that there is no MMS available on the ROM.
I actually need MMS for my business (I purchased the HTC Universal to use for business as I previously had a K800i with Opera and SSH etc running on it, but needed something better) so without MMS I cannot use the phone.
I would like to keep the phone as it is, with the ROM I have on it, because it has taken me a good few hours to set everything up as I like it, and the ROM is stable and very fast, and also has all the features I like.
So is there anyway I can add MMS to my messaging area? All I have right now is Text Message and Email, both of which are working fine. From what I understand it is not present in Windows Mobile 6, is this correct, and if so, what addon must I install to use it?
Also, as a side thought, I changed the GPRS settings to stay connected all the time and not on-demand, so the phone is connected all the time; where can I change it back to on-demand as I seem to have lost where it was.
Many thanks in advance!!
install it
Wow, this has worked a treat, many thanks friend, it is very much appreciated!!

Cyanogen on NZ Vodafone HTC Magic?

Has anyone tried the Cyanogen mods on the HTC Magic from Vodafone in New Zealand? The caveats say this code is for the US only. I don't want to brick my phone, but at the same time, I'm growing a wee bit tired of the Android market not allowing any access at all to paid apps for people in New Zealand. I'd also very much like to have a Wi-Fi AP on my HTC Magic / Androind phone....partly to let my Apple iPod access the Internet through it. Best of both worlds!
Anyone?
Current using it on my NZ Vodafone HTC Magic I bought a month ago no problem. I used the one-click root app about a week ago and working fine. Using market enabler, Google it, to allow me to gain access to paid apps. Only problem was I had to set the APN for Vodafone to gain internet access.
I would really recommended the change as the my phone is working so much better now. The vodafone ROM must be very clunky it would occasionally lag when playing music and using the phone.
However in the unlikely event of bricking your phone don't blame me.
APN Guide:
1) Navigate to: Settings > Wireless > Mobile Networks > Access Point Names
2) I deleted the one that was there by default as it wasn't working for me. Don't remember its name but the address was something like *.vodafone.com.
3) Press the menu key and click "New APN".
4) Enter the following settings:
Name: Vodafone NZ Net (Doesn't have to be this. Can be anything you want really.)
APN: www.vonafone.net.nz
5) Leave all the other fields blank.
6) Press the menu key and Save.
7) Done you should now have 3g/Internet access.
Hope this has been some help. Fell free to ask any questions you have.
Thanks for the reply. One more question....
OK...so it works. That was my main concern.
Now I guess I'll do the research and work out how to back up what I have so I can restore it if I want to.....or need to.
Total n00b question:
I did this when I first got my phone, however I am cooking my own rom based around 1.6 for NZ Users:
Is it possible for somebody to fetch me a Nandroid Backup of the NZ VF Rom? It will be extremely awesome if you could! Just flick me a PM, Thanks!

Looks Great
I'll give it a spin later. I just have issues with getting arcsoft to run for my MMS for some reason when tmobiles settings arent already in have set it up so many times in the past have it memorized but it seems to mainly be an issue on the 6.5.1 builds maybe its just an issue stemming from there
yeah, i always have problems with arcsoft, thats why I dont include it in my roms... if you want I can recook one with arcsoft installed and see if it helps your situation
Ugh, also forgot to add in facebook, I use facebook ALOT but idk about you guys
That would be great. like i said though might just be the newer windows build been noticing alot of builds where the MMS isn't working . consistant bug in windows itself i wonder?
Nice job! i would go through your sys and delete the MSalarm shortcuts. Its the most pointless start menu item. (Since it looks like you un checked it in the kitchen)
yea i did uncheck it, i never really noticed the icon stayed in the start menu

I used to have that issue with every rom I used as well. My t-mo wing is unlocked and i'm on att now. What I had to do is install a cab for the connection settings(cing_connnection_settings.cab), another one for the mms settings (cing_mms_settings.cab), and install and run the htc network wizard. The network wizard that's built into some roms don't work for some reason... anywho common sense would say that the cabs would take care of it but the network wizard i guess handles things that the cabs don't. Either way I run those items, let the network wizard do a soft reset and everything's cool.
Now I am aware thats for at&t it would be safe to assume there's cabs like that for t-mo.
Hope this helps and quells that issue.
So by the providence of god I managed to flash this rom via sd. I first installed Arcsoft MMS, soft reset. Then install the cabs for the connection and mms, then install the HTC connnection thingie. Then run the wizard for my carrier, and do a soft reset when it asks and I'm good. Managed to confirm this by mms'ing myself.

okay ivan, thanks for the heads up!

woot found those and the cabs for cooks as well
Well have to call no joy. Love the rom btw , just no luck on MMS added it and the tmo cabs , even tried manual set up of arcsoft no luck on mms for tmo open to ideas if anyone has any.

My sd card isn't fast enough.. Isn't there a ruu version..?
bugs found
Thing has an issue when I soft reset... keeps rebooting after showing the orange windoze logo. Only way to get the madness to stop is to go into boot loader and eject my memory card and cross my fingers after I hit the reset button. This is with pretty much any 6.5.1 ROM I've came across.
Either than that, it's not that good on multi tasking, normally I run TCPMP and txt my buddies. With this rom in particular, when i get into a message and start typing, TCPMP or media player quits. Complains that there's not enough memory for the operation.
That's all i've been able to find so far, can't wait to see the newer builds get rid of these small issues.

Awesome
the ROM is AWESOME !! great job man.. quick and responsive no issues at all. call quality also seems to be fine. the only issue i have come across is the dial pad.. the window displaying names disappears and the text scheme is white text on a white background.
hunting for a dialer as i dont have the heart to switch to another rom just now.
if someone can point me how to change the scheme / a good dialer i would be very greatful.
Update:
Observed today is the issue with the key mapping. i was wondering why i cud not setup my yahoo mail lol.. eg: the @ symbol is not mapped to Shift+2 instead it gives )
I have installed fingerkeyboard 2.1 from gianni (qvga) and it is working fine with no issues as of now.
