I've had my phone less than a week. Since I got it the screen has shut off after not being used for 2 minutes pretty consistantly till yesterday, and battery life was ok. Now, its just staying on all the time(dims after a few seconds idle, but doesn't go out). And my battery has been draining very fast, like full charge at 9am to dead at noon after a half hour call and a few texts. I can't figure out whats doing it. It is still set to shut off after 2 minutes when not on charger.

Mine shuts off except when on charger even tho I have it set to go off after a min. I just put it to sleep by touching the power button. I do this to save battery and avoid an unwanted press as I'm a pocket guy. Does yours go off with a press of the power button?
yes when i push the power button it still shuts off

After being on the charger after 7 hours as soon as I take out of the charge my battery his down to 98%. I made one phone call of 2 min and 3 txt messages and it dropped another 1 percent. Before this charge I let it fully drain. Anyone?

I experience the same results - When the phone is powered off and on the charger, it only goes to 98% (according to the settings-->about phone-->Status-->battery level
However, if you turn the phone on, and charge, it will reach 100%..
this is insane... my bat is down to 93% and since the first post to now i haven't even USED the phone... i think my phone is not going into full sleep whatsoever. I uninstalled 3g watchdog yesterday as some people mentioned in other forums that sometimes it wouldn't let the phone go into sleep mode. No kidding... that i only noticed this dramatic change in battery time after i installed LauncherPro. when i was using touchwiz on my second charge the phone lasted a full day with moderate use and i didn't even drain the whole battery. Yesterday was the first day i left the battery to die, i had this phone since last friday.
I was experiencing excessive battery use when I was running LauncherPro. I switched to ADW.Launcher and it went away. I also use JuiceDefender to manage connections while the screen is off. It disables data connections and turns them on for 1 minute every 15 minutes to update any data streams & then turns the data connection back off. I can get around 14 hours of light to moderate use now.
to check if your phone is properly sleeping
Plug into charger
Unplug and hit power to turn screen off
wait 5 minutes
hit power to turn screen back on
using spare parts or any other application which shows battery history(battery leftwidget)
check: Running%
It should be less than 10% for someone with a ton of background apps or widgets
It should be less than 5% for someone without a ton of widgets/bg apps
During normal usage it should be within 10% of the screen on %
Exception to this is if using something like music player
100% !!!!! I installed awd bedore doing this test and had no widgets running whatsoever

On a four hour flight this past weekend, I shut my stock 1.12.605.6 ThunderBolt off completely by holding the power button, then selecting "Power off". The battery level was at 68% at the time. When I landed and booted back up, my battery was at 17%. That's a 51% drop over a four hour period with the phone powered off.
To test it further, on the way back, I set the phone to airplane mode. The battery was at 71%. At the end of the four hour flight, I powered up the screen to see that the battery was at 68%. That's a 3% drop over a four hour period with the phone powered on, but all the radios (and the screen) off.
Has anyone experienced this?
That is strange. Have you reset the battery stats?

That's weird. Turning on/restarting your phone drains some battery, but not that much... I'd just leave my phone on airplane mode...

You need to clear battery stats or condition you battery with bump charges....when I first got my phone I charged it to 100% then unplugged it and immediately rebooted and it dropped to 78%. The batts are just weird imo

It didn't actually drop that much. It wasn't reporting the battery % right. Either before or after the reboot.

Ok I have searched and not found anything like this yet so I am going to ask. I know the phone has battery problems all around for a lot of people. Mine seems to be fine when it is on. It can sit and idle powered on all day locked and stay at full charge. It runs about 10 hours with minimal use and maybe 8 hours with some data use and a few calls and texts. Now I am experiencing a wired problem. When I go to work we cannot have cell phones. I leave my phone in my locker and power it off. After my 12 hour shift is up at work I come back to the phone with a dead battery? What could be causing this? And has anyone else noticed this issue?
defective battery? pull the battery and see if it still does it. If it does, gotta be a defective battery.. if it doesn't do it when pulled, you're not shutting off the phone maybe?
Yesterday I tried leaving the battery out. I took the battery out and let it sit 12 hours and it still had full charge when I put it back in. When I go to work I long press on the power/lock button and choose Power off then I watch it shut down and it just dies before I come back. I wish I could watch it the whole time. Today I left the phone off for around 6 hours and came back and it was fine though. Maybe it gets turned on some how at work. I have no idea. Or when I go to power it on it is just the issue where the phone isn't reading battery % correctly and it just says 0%
Seems like a battery driver issue or a defective battery? definitely call t-mobile and check if it's the battery. I've had some issues as well, but not that bad.
Weird.
So the phone powers off after you turn the screen on and it won't come back on? Try putting the phone in airplane mode.
Also, I'm assuming you are running the stock roms?
Might also want to check into a battery monitor to see if any 1 thing is pulling it down.
I think it might just be the battery driver. Sounds like the phone is in suspend so it doesn't power off properly until the screen is turned on and is revived, updating the battery % status, seeing 0%, and turning off.
CM7 fixed the wonky battery issue a few nights ago. Right now, I think a current CM based rom is the best bet as it has most of the drivers fixed. I'ved used mine pretty heavily today, unplugged at 8am and I just got a 15% battery warning at 11:30pm. It will usually last until I go to bed at midnight but I might want to play with it some more.
Hey guys. I always restart my phone before I go to bed, and I never charge it overnight. I just charge it the 1,5 hrs I have before I leave the house in the morning.
Usually this works fine, but this morning the phone was very hot. Very very hot. I've never held a so hot handset before. I had to hold down power and volume to even get it on.
It went from 60-ish to 27% overnight and as you can see from the screenshot, there's a hole in the graph, with no apps apparently being logged as consumers overnight.
Anyone got any ideas about this?

might want to do a full charge and see if problem persists. meaning 0-100%
1. Clear all app in task manager. Restart phone sometimes.
2. To force phone shutdown, press both Power button + Volume up button at same time.
According to the battery usage screen, about 15% of the battery has been used. And yet, it's in freefall. At 34% I got a low battery warning saying the battery would only last another three hours, even though it was dropping about 1% a minute.
Just randomly happened today. Left it unplugged overnight with Sleep as Android running, woke up to about 70% battery, started browsing on Chrome and Talon for Twitter, and 15 minutes later I had 20% battery. Plugged it in, got it back up to 75%, had to go out. Felt it get hot, checked, saw it was still dropping dramatically. Turned it off, left it to cool, turned it back on, and it continued dropping.
I had it turned off for a while to cool down after I'd plugged it in, as well.
Battery Usage does list Sleep as using 22% battery, but that's since the last full charge so I assume includes what it did overnight, which jives with having a percentage in the 70s when I awoke. Talon, Chrome, Facebook, TiBu, and a couple of other apps are listed as using 1-2% of the battery. That's it.
WTF is going on?

I think the battery might need to be replaced...after I charged my phone to 100% and then reboot, it will show 69% or 70% after the reboot -_-|. Also when the battery % drops down below 50%, my phone could switch off anytime - and then when I switch it on again, the battery is like 1%. I am using this phone as a backup just to receive messages so I don't mind it too much. If you use it as a main phone maybe it is time to upgrade to a newer model...the battery on regular Pixels were not so good even when new...
When the phone is off charge it to 100% then use it until it dies completly, then try to start it couple of times(it should just show a battery low icon or turn off while booting). Then charge it to 100% again while turned off.
This should pretty much reset the electronics in the phone. If it still does it replace the battery.
P.S.: Also look at the phone from the sides to see if you notice any glass poping (just in case the battery has started to expand)
