How do I turn on the Front camera on Omnia? - General Questions and Answers

Hi!
I know it's a stupid question, but how do I turn on the Front camera on Omnia without making a video call? So I could actually take a photo with it.
Thanks.

ts actuay a od questnon
long story short thopugh u cant

Yeah there is an exe somehwere in the Windows folder, can't remember what it is, try looking on:
http://omnia.modaco.com
There is basically a Omnia dev community there. Not as awesome as the one here though
Edit:
Unfortunately cannot be used for picture taking, just as a test. Why you would want to use that over the 5MP camera I don't know...

Oh. .. but is there maybe an application with witch help I would be able to use it?

use omniafrontcamera.exe here:
http://www.xtkit.com/archives/21

there is a simpler way, *#0*# then choose CIFCam

Try this one:
You can take photo with this.

[Q] Camera Questions

Is there any way (hack) to make the camera shoot in 16x9 format?
Also, any way to have the camera upload automatically online (smugmug, in my specific case)?

I don't know about forcing 16x9 with the camera...there's probably third party camera apps that will let you.
For the automatic upload, there's an app called Tasker that sounds like it will let you do stuff like that. Modaco tweeted this just today:
Tasker IS the most amazing app ever. Whenever I think 'I wish I could do THIS' on my phone it has a way. Brilliant.

Thanks.
I looked at Tasker, but in the brief evaluation period I could not see a way to auto upload to smugmug, so i uninstalled it.
But I found an app named PicPush, which does exactly that: it pushes pics and movies you take with the phone to various sites, including smugmug.
Does anyone know of a good camera app which would do high res 16x9 photos, and also has a decent set of options? I didn't find anything I liked on Market.

Brief evaluation period? You mean the 15 minutes from the Market?
There's a week long eval period if you download and install from the dev's website. Moot point for you since you found another application, but others reading may be interested.

[Q] Please Help adding Photo to Contact

Hi, I am having trouble adding a photo to a contact and can't find the answer anywhere. I recently bought the phone and just have a few days to return it if it's the phone. I love the phone and hope I don't have to return it. All my Droids have been easy til now. Ok, here's a run down of how I'm doing it.
Touch on contact>3 dots top right>edit>touch blank image of face>choose photo from gallery>touch on photo>there is a dotted square around photo like I'm cropping, touch on the check beside done and says "unable to save photo edits" and a little circle going around like a computer trying to load.
Thanks in advance for any help!
Yeah that's exactly the most complicated way to do that^^
But it worked for me that way you described. What kind of image type is that?
Is it maybe a wrong format?
Take a photo with your camera and try to use this.

Thanks but I already tried that. Must be something wrong with the camera. The image is factory set
Are you on any custom rom? Then ask in that specific thread.
Are you completely on stock? Then try a factory reset. If problem persists then contact Motorola support.

This is not the Creepiest Question i have stumbled across XDA.

Some questions for anyone with the phone. (Extra one for those who are rooted)

Hoping someone can answer some questions for me. Thinking about buying one of these, but need to make sure of a few things.
1. Does the phone have some kind of voice wake-up? With the new Chinese voice assistant, I would assume there's some kind of voice wake-up system for that -- anyone who tried the global rom, can google assistant wake up the phone with "OK Google?" Seems like a long shot, but would love to know.
2. On the Mi Mix 2, the brightness sensor was placed right where someone using the phone left-handed's hand would be. Has this changed? I heard from someone they centered the brightness sensor for this one, but can anyone confirm?
3. I hope someone rooted can try this, but is it possible to put the phone in diag mode, connect with QPST, and make a qcn backup of the baseband? With Android O I'm no longer able to do this on Mi Mix 2. If anyone willing to try this, ask for more details if you don't know how to do it.
I'm not running an official MIUI ROM (xiaomi.eu ROM), but since the base is pretty similar my answers should still count...
1) OK Google does work, but apparently not for unlocking / wakeing the device. I guess this could be fixed with some fiddling around
2) The brightness sensor isn't dead center on the 2S either. It is around 1cm left to the middle.
3) Worked perfectly fine for me

does the stock camera app let you shoot raw images?
if no, is it possible when using alternative camera apps like open camera, fv-5,...?

Check the screenshot
thx for the screenshot. does that mean it's available in the stock app too or only in 3rd party camera apps?

Well, then check another screenshot
It does save RAW perfectly fine
thx for replying. your screenshot tells me that you took a picture in raw format and that this raw file was saved in the open camera folder. I suppose you used open camera to take the picture.
does the stock camera also offer the option to shoot raw files?
thx,
vercetti.

With the latest China dev rom: nope, no raw format supported by stock camera app.
