The stable Radio Version - JASJAR, XDA Exec, MDA Pro ROM Development

Hello,
Sorry before maybe this topic has discussed by others.
Just want to know, what is the best and stable radio version of HTC Universal?
I am currently using radio ver 1.17.00 from tmobile. But the radio is not good, always disconnected while in data connection. First time i think this is operator problem, but not. I am difficult to browse some websites via universal but it just very smooth with my nokia 9300.
about the rom i am using tomal's 8.71.
short answer:what is the most stable radio ver especially in data and phone call? or my radio hardware has been...bad?
thanks

hello mokalovesoulmate ...
as i see we have the same operator, for data conection ...
is not about your radio uni. i have try v. 1.15 to 1.18, and all have the same behavior.
you cannot compare our uni with nokia, almost all standart mobile phone has a better radio reciever the windows mobile.
now i use v.1.18, stability is depend of our location.
if i have the signal is in good condition (gprs >2bars) then it should be stable.
one more things, do not set your band option to auto. chose gprs only (for use email, chat & light browsing), for option wcdma when you have a very good signal (i use it only when i download new ROM ).
if you use flash service from telkomsel, and make data conection all days, some times it can block a phone when someone need to contact you.
sorry for my bad english

Yes this discused several time before
conclusion is that there is no better radio
it will depend not anly on the ROM you are using but also with your cell provider
I have tested 1.14, 1.15, 1.17, 1.18 and now using 1.08 wich I find good

Hi indra,
Thx for reply
Yeah I am so bingung (edit:confused) because when trying to connect it sometimes cannot connect, connect but no bandwidth, connect but RTO, etc and it sometimes make me feels my uni is not working properly.
With my uni I am using Indosucks 3G Broadband (Matrix) and with nokia i am using telkomsel for standard phone and sms. Uni just used for modem, browse etc.
Ah, one question again,
After I am connect to internet, and if I disconnect manually or disconnect itself, then cannot reconnect. Solution is just restart the uni and it connect again.
any solution to make this uni can always connect without restart? Just like my Magician and Raphael. They are very stable.
Thanks,
Also sorry for my bad english

Hi orb,
Yeah, I just found the ROM or Radio is not suck but my operator is very sucks.
Now I am thinking to switch to other operator. Maybe it solving my problem. Dont know too.
Thanks,

for disconect and reconenected again, if uni won't conect just wait for a while ... +/- 30 second just patient
then try to conect again.
if it still not work, active flight mode then back turn on the radio. other way you can try phoneProfile prog. it had an option "cycle radio" which can refresh the radio without reset.
hope it work for you

You must find: Hklm\Comm\ConnMgr\Providers\{7C4B7A38-5FF7-4bc1-80F6-5DA7870BB1AA}\Connections\
and in the right connection set "AlwaysOn" to "1" (Default set to 0)

I found
that my disconnection problems and difficulty connecting was due to Tomal's 8.7. The connection could not be established for some time with neither 1.17, 1.18, nor 1.14. Then it would sporadically disconnect, only to take time to connect again with connection arrows going forever. Had no problems connecting another Uni at the same time (so I could exclude the network problems) and running 8.8, 8.2 and never had problems with 7.7 and all previous ROMs, regardless of the radio.
The only difference the change of radio made was stronger signal in some areas and no loss of signal depending on location. For example, I knew the exact spot on a particular street where the signal would disappear and the Uni would reconnect once passed the spot. With 1.17 I didn't have that problem.

Radio ROM Poll

Since the threads are becoming too long to keep an overview on everything I would like to start a poll on which Radio ROM ist providing the best results.
Specifically there seem to be issues reported for the following:
ROM 1.13: Issues with data network reconnect ("modem not responding")
ROM 1.15: Bluetooth stops working
ROM 1.09: Seemingly stable
Please provide your experiences
BTW: I'm using 1.13 richt now and have the reported issues with the data network not reconnecting.
I use 1.14.10 as 1.15 place where I live cannot provide normal reception. At 1.14.10 there are some problems
1. Suddenly disconnected GPRS
2. 2 second pause at a raising of a tube
3. 2 second pause a release
i moved back to 1.09 wich so far is the most stable without having calls missed.
Radio 1.17.00...?
i saw Mamaich use Radio 1.17 in the Signature....

Using 1.13 data problems
i'm using 1.13 since it passed all test run by jwrightmcps while its rom 2.02.00 WWE.
1st Problemon the whole i do not get low signal problem nor there is any data disconnection while on pda but when using usb modem on pc; it does disconnect data.
2nd problem i feel is that i am unable signin to my Windows Live Messenger till now. it says synchronization error. you may be in low coverage area. ---> and my signals are always full.
3rd Problem i cannot send or receive mms since i stacked my universal with 1.13. it reaches 99% and suddenly the baloon disappears and the message stays in the outbox (unsent) with the status of PENDING on its envelop icon
farehmani
Using 1.15 and use the bluetooth headset. have yet to experience the not working problem, yet.
however, if bluetooth is not left on, and i were to beam a file using Resco, sometime bluetooth will freeze and a soft reset is required to regain functionality.
hope someone would post the link to radio 1.17 for me to try out
The problem here is that the choice is rather limited in the poll.
I'm using 1.15 but to be honest I don't notice any difference between that or 1.13 or 1.14.1.
I'm based in England, but don't use GPRS or pushemail; maybe that means I'm not au fait with the subtle differences between the versions?
I just think there are too many variables and it is a personal preference?
1.09 is very stable
Hi,
I have tried them all and I get back to 1.09.00
It was the most stable and functional one for me.
Tried the following
1.08
1.09
1.10.03
1.11
1.12 (fixed)
1.13
1.14.10
1.15
So far, I've had problems with all of them, but hell that's just how the uni works
with 1.15 and 1.14.10 I have loss in BT connection along with hanging 3G and missing calls when the device is on.
1.12 is a bit better
Have to try 1.13 again and also 1.10.03
1.09 Still gives me the best result basicaly
haven't tried 1.08 because 1.09 is mostly used and 1.08 seems like a step back
mamaich! Post 1.17 Radio here please
I have used 1.13, 1.14.10 and 1.15 and at the beginning 1.09 but I have one big Problem but don't know if it's with the radio:
I can hear some people very hard (they are too quiet) and the same the other way around. They hear me very hard. Have tried it with the PDAVIET/Darkforce WM6 and Radio 1.14.10 and 1.15. But once I had a WM6 ROM (Think it was Helmi's 1.1) which was VERY LOUD AND CLEAR. Is there an option to turn up the Volume or do I have to try every RADIO backwards?
I agree.
Radio 1.15 is no good. Very unstable. I've lost reception many times, mainly from going in a place with no reception and then back outside. It'll search and search and search and it'll find NOTHING. i have to do a soft reboot in order to get reception again.
I'm gonna try out 1.09, my jasjar came with 1.13

No similar problems with my Radio 1.15, using O2 in the UK. When I'm on the train or the underground and lose the connection, it quickly reconnects once reception is available.

I agree - I'm on T-Mobile, and 1.15 is the BEST of the available ROMs for me (I'm using Helmi's v1.1). The older ROMs generally seem to have better data handling, but poorer voice facilities. v1.15 is fine for voice, and has the most stable data of all the ROMs I've tried (and I've tried them all).
I think it's been said before, but is probably worth repeating; the different radio ROMs seem to give differing results in different territories. The best option is to try them out for yourself, and pick the best one. At least with a radio upgrade there's no hard reset, so you shouldn't lose any data. (Having said this, I tend to get some minor settings changed when I flash, but it's not a big deal to reset them - worth taking a backup if you have the facility).
Cheers,
Steve.

The Alpha Candidate 2 runs smooth on my device since 6th may.
Using GPS mouse plus iGO without a problem, So far I can't find anything causing me problems, but the other WM6 ROMs didn't either
Things I noticed in this ROM:
*The link in the GPRS/WLAN bubble showing "Wireless on" has been renamed to "Wireless Manager" and pressing it leads to the Comm Manager.
* Model name changed from "WIZA200" to "WM300" (shouldn't it be PM300)
* German o2 GPRS Flatrate users can now use their flatrate without installing a CAB file from old o2 ROM
* As mentioned some programs in the ExtROM has been updated/replaced
great

TEST
Hello,
i try this new rom for a few days, and ...it is fantastic...no problem at this time, i only add batterystatus today plugin. GPRS (edge) works well as wifi and bluetooth. For car charging, not tested because i have a usb plug on my radio car wich is working. One little thing, there is too much prog in the ext. rom, i prefer for this point the pdaviet rom.
For the french now, "vous l'aurez deviné à mon superbe anglais !!!" , Wifi doesn't work if you choose french parameters in regionnal settings. VOip is working too (dans les deux sens) with an appropriate ipdialplan.xml for free ISP.
So "QUE DU BONHEURS !!!!!!!!!! "
@+
for french people
Don't install any cab from htc or bouygues for gprs configuration !!!
Do it " à la mano"
For gprs, only one thing to know :
ap: ebouygtel.com
For MMS :
You must do an other connection for mms but you have to phone to bouygues for activate the access (payfree)
server = mmsbouygtel.com
Gateway = 62.201.137.17
Numero de port = 8080
server adress = http://mms.bouyguestelecom.fr/mms/wapenc
Connect via = ISP

Which WM6 ROM did you installed?
Is that such a big problem to you? You may in line of more surprises from WM6. How about WiFi on/off not stable? How about missing calls? Check out BT with different head sets yet? How is the incoming sound volume adjustable?
You may want to stay on WM5 and read more on this forum and find out which WM6 ROM you want to install. They come with different favors!!!

[Fixed] GPS com port

Hi folks !
I have a strange issue with my T7272. I have just installed Igo 2008 the last edition, beeline gps and GPS info to look after my GPS com port but nothing !
I tried to use google map but nothing at all ! I can try each port it's always the same problem, no gps detected...
I succeeded one time in updating through quickgps but since many days I can't anymore. It seems to dowload data and at 100% it says "Connection failed, try later" or in french "Echec de la connection. Veuillez essayer plus tard".
It won't work even with activesync.
I had the External GPS windows stuff enabled on com 4 with hardware port at "none" and 4800 for the speed. Enabled or disabled, it changes nothing.
What's your port conf ? Maybe mine wasn't well configured by HTC ?!
ROM 1.90.406.5 FRE
Date : 08/20/08
Radio Version : 1.02.25.19
protocol V: 52.33.25.17U
Try to start Beeline and Autodetect GPS...
As you can see,the internal GPS is connected to COM4,same as your external set. Maybe there is a conflict.
Yeah that's the point neither beeline nor igo can find the right port. It seems that you're using microsoft gps adapter. What's your hardware conf ?
I've also read that windows sip cab could interfer with the gps. I've tried to uninstall it but still nothing.
For the moment I'm using my old bluetooth gps receiver, it works great but I'm worried about my raphael internal receiver...
No one have had such problems?
When I first bought my TP, I had the same issue. After upgradind the radio and to a custom rom, I have never had the same problem again.

Interesting ! What's your rom version? I thought having the latest one.
No one tried to use his gps directly, without the "external GPS" adapter? then is it always com4?
My Rom was 1.90. and my radio was 1.02.25.19. I have upgraded to radio 1.02.25.19 and I have tried 5-6 custom roms ever since with no problems.
I think that my drivers are dead or for some reason there is a conflict or a bug in the registry. I'll backup all my stuff and make a hard reset...
Maybe I won't have to send my touch pro to HTC...
Wait and see !

hi @ all
this tread is a bit "past" but now i got the problem mentioned by balur.
i actually use maxstegis rom(5.2), but i also tried it with te shipped one from t-mobile.
i used google and the forum search, but i was not able to find a solution. i hope smb. can help me, because i need the wifi tomorrow!
1) Perhaps some of these ROMs are based on others that have the same problem.
solution: choose another ROM. Tomal8.2, minhanhtran, nncuong are ROMs that I vouch for that work on my maching with no WIFI problems
2) Perhaps your radio is not good
solution: try flashing another radio. I use 1.18, but many say 1.15 is the most stable. I have had problems with neither - but it may be worth reflashing your radio to make sure it is ok and stable.
Personally, I think if your original t-mobile ROM doesn't work, then you have problems with phone hardware. First I'd check other things can connect to you WLAN, to make sure it's definately the phone that's not good - or perhaps try and connect to a friends WLAN.

how can connect to a friends wlan? Quote(Balur): "returns to off with nothing changed." i cant even turn it on!
but thanks for your help!!!
I've the same problem with Tomal's 8.2. An other rooms I've tried.
The only thing I did was to change my 2Gb SD to a 4Gb HDSD
I experienced automatical turning off WiFi on Tomal 8.2 when i installed some tweaks - one to edit system settings and speed up Uni, second to disallow applications turn on GPRS - only manual turn on.
I'm not sure which of them was causing it .... don't you have something like that installed?
I'll try to find exact names of them when I'll have a while ...
Yes I had the XCPU Scalar. But now, even if I install an Original Shipped ROM, I can't turn on the wifi. I think that something is swiched off permanently, but I don't know what nor how.
