Ok about a month ago i posted a topic about the imate camera poorness and with no reply i decided to experiment myself. So i got the latest T-Mobile extended rom from this site and extraceted the file 00Camera.008 and renamed it to camera.exe and placed it in the windows on the device folder and walla! all is better. Hope this is of help!
Hi
What kind of poornes was that, and how did taking other camera.exe help ?
Hi,
what version of the camera software is it now ?`
Go to into the menu and go to INFO and please post it here.
Thanks.
Regards, Stefan.
Here are 2 CAB files with the new Camera.exe its version 2.7 build 20117.
These cab files have the speckle (or Nosie) fix built in.
Download either one (not both) and install.
Please remember to backup your PDA before installing, I use Sprite before any program installation.
I have a T-mobile MDA compact and my camera version is:
V2.70 (build 20677).

Oh can you copy the camera.exe and post it, I'll add it to the CAB File
Here is the new camera file (V2.70 build 20677). I don't know anything about the older versions so I don't know what's improved. You can adjust the contrast, brightness, saturation, hue and sharpness from the camera aplication. I don't know if this was p[ossible in earlier versions.
Greets,
Giovanni
Now, can you change the setting while the camera is working? how can i do this?
To change the settings:
Start the camera
Go to the camera settings
Choose tools and than ajust.
You can now ajust al the contrast, etc steeings.
Greetz,
Giovanni
Nothing is changed!!
How do you mean nothing has changed?
he means its still as grainy as it ever was.. as is mine.
I mean that is not possible to change the setting "on fly" while the cam is on.
lol and that to
It's true that you can't change it while using the camera. I hope there will be some decent camcorder and foto utility soom. When you look at Symbian devices (Iused to own a Nokia 6600) there are aplications that can record DIVX at 15 fps.
I'm not be able to find any utility for the cam
Run this CAB file and it will almost eliminate the speckles.

Sure you can. Go to Tools, Adjust and set the Saturation, Hue, Brightness, Contrast and Sharpness. After that the camera has the new settings immediately. Perhaps you have an old version without this option?

With the new versions of the Camera program my screen automatically jumps to landscape. Is this normal with all devices of just a Magician issue. I don't like it...

Hi, I just upgraded my Himalaya to WM5 from WM2003 and the camera is working fine although it does not let you zoom in/out, change the resolution, brightness or white balance. Does any one know of a fix or if you can get software to view better in the dark (night vision or something)
Cheers steve_nlr

yeah mine does that too now you mention it

with the fact that the cam is as useless as a webcam from
1995
there have been posts about 3th party cam software
which may have some of the features you miss
personaly i would not hold my breath for any type
of quality from a non auto focus phonecam of less then even
1 puny Mpixel
Hi there.
Is it possible to extract the whole camera application from the HTC S730 to the HTC S710?
The handling seems to be much more nicer on the HTC S730.
Please have a look (you have to scroll down some pages):

UP!
Yes, this would be pretty cool, the camera from the S730 looks really good
I was trying to find something to the Vox but had no luck...i found here an update to the htc camera but it's for the Shadow, and it doesn't work on the Vox. I also tried this tweak for us to be able to use bigger video resolutions, but I end up with the problem found by every user who tried it: we can really enable the bigger resolutions (CIF and L) but the app locks in the loading icon when using it.
Folks,
I have tried several WM6.1 ROMs but none have clear type working after tweaking in landscape. Can anyone inform me of a ROM that does have this feature working.
Thanks for taking the time to look.

Unfortunately all of the WM 6.1 "official" ROMs are affected by the cleartype bug. If you want to run 6.1 with cleartype, you will need to flash an older "leaked" ROM that is based off of an older build.

No it's pure WM6.1....but they are just not pure Kaiser WM6.1 ROM's. They are both ported from another device.
Hmz, I havn't had any problems with the 6.1's. But the 6.1 diamond ones I've noticed this bug.
Even though the 6.1 ROMS have the ClearType bug, It wasn't really meant to work well in landscape anyways. ClearType relies on the physical layout of the pixels, which are positioned in such a way that in portrait mode it can have a great effect. In landscape mode it looks far less appealing, but thats not a software correctable issue, its a physical issue.

Yes thats what I ment, not pure Kaiser 6.1 As usual you are right, even over me beeing right.. You are right
call me crazy but um............
i forget which .dll i replaced a while back that fixed the cleartype issue and didnt mess anything else up to bad. i understand the limitation of the actual pixels BUT if it worked once it can work again is the way i look at it.
austinsync, It would be really helpful if you remembered which DLL file that was. The cleartype bug is the only thing holding me, and I'm sure others as well, back from using the new ROMs that are coming out.
FWIW ... ClearType isn't just sub-pixel font rendering, so while you'll get the best results from a standard horizontal RGB pixel layout, it works in just about any orientation.
The point of ClearType was about increasing the effective resolution of type, not just anti-aliasing. Even in landscape mode, ClearType still makes fonts more readable.
Cleartype on landscape mode works on the new WM 6.1 official ROMs while you're typing a message, so it was intended to work, but they introduced a bug that makes text on menus and text fields dissapear.
Older leaked official ROMs have this working too, basically, any ROM before April 2008. This is a bug introduced on recent builds, while trying to speed-up the display.
Hi, I am formerly a Omnia II user.
I am very glad to switch HTC HD2.
Its a wonderful phone.
However, I realise that Omnia II camera app is so much better.
esp when I am using Panoroma function.
For Omnia II it can
1) take 8 shot during Panoroma
2) Take Portrait (HD2 only landscape)
3) Omnia II can auto detect the next shot.
My question is, is there any camera app that does the same like Omnia II?
Or is it possible to cab the omnia II camera application??
Thanks
i would definately be interested in this also....
The camera i had in my Omnia i900 had the same features you mention and i quite miss them.
The panoramic auto detect and take next photo was absolutely phenomenal!
i think that the camera app is using the camera hardware directly, so you cant use the OmniaII camera app...
but im not sure...
if you know which files are needed for the camera, give it a try.
Panorama auto-detect sounds awesome. I would be interested to see if this is possible.
I just realized this too, as I switched from Omnia 1.
Also, we don't have a working continuous shot mode, like burst or sports mode. It is hidden, can be enabled in the registry but it doesn't work. Someone please take a look into this or suggest if it's possible to use third party app for camera!
Thanks!

But an other interesting function are smile detector on the OMNIA, there a re not available on the HD2! Why the HD2 aren't the best in this function!?
me too,
somebody able to port the samsung camera-app to the htc-hd2 ?
would be that meaga-fantastic for panorama mode pictures
greetzs,
ozett
Good to know that I am not the only one who miss this function.
someone ported a sony tasmanager on windows-mobile to the hd2,
as a normal fool i would believe that porting the camera-app from a windows-mobile phone to another windows-mobile-phone it could be done by coping files?
anybody who can provide the samsung camera.exe for testing?
greetzs,ozett
Om2 and HD2 have different hard-ware. I think it's impossible to port Om2 camera app into HD2. Otherwise, SS camera is always better than HTC's. More frame/s, higher quality in both capture photos/video
anybody tried exchanging the apps an see if its working? (maybe not that hardware-dependent? maybe a windows-mobile layer for camera?)
greetz,ozett
What?
please, it will not happen if u want that camera function also that cube menu, s-class menu from LG, and Xperia menu. consider switching again if you need that.
