Can't do a factory reset

I updated to 2.2 last weekend and I have been playing with it for a while but now I want to do a full Factory reset. So I go to Settings/Privacy and select factory reset and select ok. Then the phone reboots. Goes into a recovery mode. And it says in alternating red and yellow text.

Any ideas why this is happening. I don't have a computer and I just want to go back to stock. So if someone could point me in the right direction I would greatly appreciate it.

If you want to return to true stock (2.1), you will need to do an Odin flash using a computer. Performing a data wipe/factory reset will only remove any apps, syncs, and settings you have added, and will revert you to the default state of whatever rom you last flashed.
As for why your phone won't let you perform a factory reset, your guess is as good as mine. Perhaps you could try performing the wipe directly from recovery.
Also, if you have a nandroid backup of your former session, you should be able to revert to that by restoring the backup, but make sure to flash a compatible 2.1 kernel as well.

it has some instructions on how to get your phone back to stock 2.2 Froyo. That is the only solution I can think of.

[Q] No OS Installed for Nexus 5?

Hello everyone I am scared I bricked my phone.
So I tried installing a rom and did a factory reset deleting everything (including the OS). I did root the phone but something went wrong so I factory reset it. Now when I press the power button I get the "google" black screen and nothing. I then shut it down and went to the bootloader. I stupidly forgot to recover my old stuff like an idiot and now the phone has OS.
Can you help me with a step by step guide to restore this phone?
Flash the factory image to get it back to stock (see nice, big sticky thread in General), then try again

Factory reset is a misnomer, as it does not restore the phone to its factory state. All factory reset does is erase the data partition (along with cache and internal storage obviously). Any changes you make to the system ROM, kernel, recovery, etc. persist after a factory reset. The only way to restore the phone to its factory state is to flash the factory image. Refer to the tutorial to flash the factory image. Next time do your homework before you start tinkering.

[Q] How do i fully factory reset my rooted GS6?

So i rooted my phone the day i got it and i messed some system files up with lucky patcher and titanium backup and now im getting force closes / crashing of apps. I want to factory reset it. Is the wipe data/factory reset option in recovery mode enough to do this or is there a way to download the stock T-Mobile firmware and flash it with odin?
The factory reset is done either through recovery or through the phone itself. I would just boot into recovery (hold power volume up and home button simultaneously) and do the factory reset, this should fix your issues
If you jacked with /system files you might be screwed. Factory reset doesn't touch /system.

well i did the factory reset through recovery, no more google services crashes but ccleaner still crashes on launch, i guess ill have to wait for official firmwares to be released so i can flash those

Can't factory reset Moto g xt1032

My phone is being slow lately so I've decided to do a factory reset. I own a Moto g xt1032. I did some stuff with ROMs but they didn't work and I gave up about that.
Whenever I try to factory reset via settings my phone shuts down and goes into some menu (forgot the name). I have the options recovery factory barcode etc. But my phone didn't factory reset or anything.
Then I read I need to go into recovery mode and choose to wipe everything. As always whenever I try to start recovery mode it just says "boot up failed"
I just want to reset everything and I don't need to backup as I don't really have anything special on here.
Thanks in advance
Are you still running a custom ROM? If so, a factory reset will not put you back to stock - it will only remove personal data - because ROMs modify a different partition. If you want to return to a factory state, you will need to flash a stock rom. I would flash these stock zips through recovery, for which you can get downloads and install instructions from here.

I need help!

Hi all,
I tried to flash GoldEagle on to my S6, however, a problem has ensued.
I'm stuck at A recovery screen (Blue screen appears) as I dont think the recovery image wrote to the phone properly but it did do the wipe/factory reset. Now I dont think there's an OS on the phone.
Options I've got in the recovery menu...
Reboot system now...
Reboot to bootloader....
Apply update from ADB
Apply update from SD Card
WIpe data / factory reset
Wipe cache partition
Mount /system
View recovery logs
Run Graphics Test
Power off
Any ideas ?
How do I get an OS back on the phone?
Thanks all
