Flashing splash images from update.zip? - G1 Android Development

Hi people Someone have info about the update-script format? i can't find how to flash the splash images through it...
Thanks to Everyone

i am 99% sure that you cannot flash the splash image through an update.zip, you need fastboot, you can ghange the flashing android screen though if that is what you are talking about

Yes now i read the roots.c files under the Android source and i understood that i cant
Thanks

Splash screen problem

I have been trying to install a splash screen through fastboot but keep getting 'remote: not allowed'
Is there another way to do this maybe just regular adb?
Is this a problem with my bootloader? If so how do I install another version?
Im on CM6 btw, did not use unrevoked to root.

You need to be s-off to change your splash. (unrevoked for ever) after that, hit me up and ill help you with the splashes.
I am s-off.

Post the splash file so I could check it out. Maybe not packaged right... where did you get it from?

The first cyanogen in hand one. Someone else had this problem also and I think he said he had a wrong version of the bootloader. Could this be it? Can I adb push instead of fastboot?

put this on the root of sdcard.
shut down your phone.
volume down and power button.
it should find it on its own, when it does, volume up for yes to update.
then yes again to reboot.
that's it....

Thank you so much!!!!
Still curious as to why I didn't work. Don't want to have to contact you to make me a PC36IMG.zip every time I want a new splash screen.

the person who made this splash made them to be adb pushed. It is a rgb565 file. To make the flashible zip, it has to be convertedto a disk image and you also need the android-text file. If you ever want a custom splash, just hit me up on my thread (link on my sig) or pm me....

I appreciate it very much. Is there a way to adb push them other than the fastboot method?

not with the PC36IMG, but the file you originaly had can. Not really sure where its pushed to but i think the thread you got it from has directions somewhere.
I ran into the same issues when I first tried to flash a splash screen. I found out that I needed a different hboot.img. Phones came with several different hboot.imgs including .76.2, .79, .93, and the most current 2.02. .76.2 is referred to as the engineering bootloader. It gives your phone extended fastboot commands which allow you to do things like flash splash screens. If you still run into problems then you might consider changing your hboot.img and see if that helps. There is a whole thread on it in the dev section. I highly suggest paging through the whole thread before you do anything. We encountered a lot of problems but also found a lot of fixes as well. Good luck sir.
You can keep the existing zip file that was created for you. Take any image that is ready for the fastboot method, rename to splash1.img. Then place it in the zip and drop into the SDcard. Then Hboot and flash

An idea for Developers

last i had an idea tht might help in unlocking the Bootloader of Milestone. we have to flash the Vulnerable Recovery by GOT whenever we flash our mobile with the Stock ROM to use custom Update.zip files... i guess the developers might get some help by investigating the GOT's ROM and Recovery image....
so the u guys will be able to make custom ROM image file...
this is just a thought no offense to anyone....
There is no special GOT recovery its just old recovery made by moto which got a bug that allows to apply custom update.zip. There is no problem in flashing any kernel u want, there is no protection for that. Protection only exists when u turn on the phone the signature of the boot partition is being checked by the bootloader ( mbm ) and if u flash not properly signed boot.img ( partition with the kernel ) phone wont boot it. http://and-developers.com/boot:boot_chain

It's kinda sad that you think that developers are that dumb... Do some research before you post, especially in the development thread.

[Q] Bootloader No Image - Wrong Image

Hi all,
After flashing numerous ROMS on my Sensation, when I'm in the Bootloader, I notice the following:-
PG58DIAG - Shows up as No Image or Wrong Image
PG58IMG - Also shows up as No Image or Wrong Image
Any ideas what it means and how I correct it?
Thank You
someone please correct me if im wrong, just trying to spread some knowledge that I've learned in my adventures.
PG58IMG is the radio
so maybe whatever rom your currently trying to flash requires a certain radio. check the posting for recommended radio and apply before flashing
again just my assumption maybe an elder can step in and give a more accurate answer.
well i ma not here to solve your problem but i have the same problem with you , just for the precesion i thing The pg58img is a zip file with which you can install a radio img file and recovery img file and perhaps boot.img ( but for that i am not sure at all) .
this wrong image thing made me conclude that my recovery is corrupted ( precision my recovery is stock and i am s on ) so if anybody has a solution i will take it .
for your problem try to copy on the root of sdcard the PG58IMG.zip file corresponding to the stock recovery or the clockwork recovery, and reboot again in boot loader

Anyone care to make me a flashable zip?

Can anyone make me a flashable zip that updates the bootloader and radio to 5.1(hhz12f)?
I am aware of the one in this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/goo...hable-zip-android-l-radio-bootloader-t2958222 but it doesn't work. Yes I understand and can do it in fastboot, I just don't have the PC to do it!
EDIT: Found a flashable zip with the bootloader and radio in this thread- http://forum.xda-developers.com/google-nexus-5/general/rom-n5-l-developer-preview-t2796003
first this isnt the right section
second, why dont you do it using TWRP ? AFAIK it can flash images as well

Yeah that's my bad, meant to put it in the general section. I have twrp now(got it today) didn't know that, will try. Thanks!
No twrp don't flash .IMG ... At least it didn't pick them up.

Twrp will flash images however I believe it is only kernel(boot) and recovery images. Select install and bottom right is a images button. That will toggle between zip flash and image.

[S-OFF] Custom Splash Screen

I made a custom splash screen (kernel screen, 1st boot img etc.) That works seamlessly with the google pixel boot animation.
Splash - https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B8in4PEF59ENeHF1V2RNRURYV0E (move to sd card and flash through download mode)
Boot animation - https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B8in4PEF59ENRk1QZEhzRVdZWFk (flash through custom recovery)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
You can also make your own using Splash Flasher, All credit to TrueBlue_Drew, Put a 1080x1920 image in and run the program.
Splash Flasher - https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B8in4PEF59ENWjRGSm1MVklBdTQ
select an option to convert image to IMG file, then go to Splash flasher>place-image-here and rename your new image file to "splash1.nb0" Next, download this: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B8in4PEF59ENVmRvUlE1UzIwd28. Lastly, move Your splash1.nbo file and your android-info.txt into a zip file and rename it to 2PQ9IMG. Flash through download as normal
This works for usa unlocked but you can change it. Simply edit the android-info.txt to your mid/cid. SuperCID works.
Is this limited to just the One A9? I'm running a One M8 that has the same 1080p resolution
Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk
Yes but s-off is required. this is totally possible, go to your download mode and get the Cid and mid, and also at the bottom get the name of the file that it wants you to flash. Next, change the android-info.txt to have matching mid/Cid of your device and follow the rest of the steps above, and once you have made your flash able zip, name it to the one your download mode says.
Looks great thanks for sharing.
You just killing. now I dunno my phone is HTC or Pixel anymore lol

Thanks for the post.. very useful.
One thing I wanted to ask, would it be possible to flash the boot-animation by any means other than custom recovery?
I did have TWRP installed but am now on stock recovery, TWRP was overwritten when flashing the stock RUU in order to get OTA updates.
If I have to re-flash TWRP then fine, I can re-run the RUU after but I would prefer to spend as little time as possible messing about in recovery etc..

For the boot animation, you can use flash fire, or extract boot animation.zip and move it to system/media

I cant really understand this message, but from what i can tell, you want to remove the red message, which hboot checks for. There are sucsessfull ways to remove this on most htc deviced, just not for the One A9, DO NOT ATTEMPT TO FLASH A MODIFIED hboot file. unless it is confirmed working. also, there is already a thread about this. Just dont do it.
