I think I am going mad so forgive me.
Can someone help me to rotate the screen to landscape with the keyboard closed? IE. manually rotate the screen.
I can't seem to find the function anywhere.
or have I missed something?
Thanks.
Just rotate the device?!
This only works in certain apps, like picture etc.
I want the Home screen, and TT7 in Landscape when in the car, and turning the screen doesn't do anything.
Any help?
The Apps themselves need to support the Rotation of the phone by implementing a hook into the Accelerometer/G-Sensor.
Like said above, TouchFlo3D Pictures and Opera do this, but most other apps do not! Just need to wait for later versions or change to landscape mode manually - if supported!
Should be (although HTC may have removed it) in Start->Settings->System (tab)->Screen, and then change the orientation. It's possible HTC removed this functionality though...
I'm guessing that Mortscript will still work on the Touch.
You could use this to rotate the screen then call the app in question?
Then when you quit the app it'll rotate back.
I forgot the name of the app, but it allowed you to rotate the Diamond for any app or any situation in the phone. It should also be able to work on the Touch Pro then.
Its called GSen it works on diamond and probably it should work for this and if its not working just wait for new release.

Click to collapse
They have removed this option, but you can bring it back with Schap's advanced config 3.0! I haven't tried it, but I've seen the option there!
Reg Edit to set Talk key to rotate screen manually
Here's a reg hack to manually rotate your screen, only when desired.
In Settings/Buttons/ one used to be able to assign a button to <Rotate Screen>. This feature is hidden on the Touch Pro.
To get it back:
Using a Registry editor, go to:
HKeyLocalMachine/System/GDI/Rotation
Change the "HideOrientationUI" from 1 to 0
Now you can remap the talk key to do this on long press.
Pocketpowermanager puts a little icon at the bottom of the Today screen which rotates the screen (and an icon for power off, and another for soft reset). It's a great application.
Hi there
Both Gens and Gyrator work well on the Touch Pro.
Just Bing them (at bing.com).
David
You can get an application called gyrator 2 which will allow you to rotate without sliding out the keyboard in any screen, so like you can use it in the start menu or anywhere else, http://pocketnow.com/index.php?a=portal_detail&t=news&id=6068
Hey guys, i would like to know if we could enable through a registry hack or something, SecondToday to start automatically when we slide out the keyboard.
I don't really like the landscape version of manila so it would be better to have the normal today screen when the keyboard is out (But since we can't disable TF3D landscape secondtoday will do just fine). I've tried with sksChema and SecondToday but it doesn't have an option for sliding out the Keyboard.
If anybody knows any workaround for this, let me know, please...
Hi Folks,
I love the Rhodium dialer in the Topaz ROMS, and generally it works flawelessly in Landscape.
There is just one thing anoying me, and I was not successfull in fixing it via the registry.
- When having the Topaz with Manila in Landscape mode, and starting the Dialer, the dialer is switching Manila into Portrait, and then the dialer is started in portrait as well.
- If eg. turning the device to landscape, and then back to landscape, Rhodium dialer will switch to landscape as well. Also when taking a call, it switches quite soon, or if puishing the volume control and then back to the dialer again it will switch to landscape. But never alone...
Anyone has an idea if there is any registry setting that starts the dialer in landscape if manila was in landscape mode while starting the dialer???
Any idea would be apprichiated.
Thanks GeScha
PS: I'm using the phone in the car in a carholder, that's landscape, so turning the device is not really an option....
Kind of a work around but not really a solution would be to set one of your hardware keys to rotate the screen with a long press or double/triple press....
Hi Bruce,
I was considering this, but in this case I can do the volume control workaround as well....
A reg-hack would be ideal, bat havent found one yet.
I would think it would be a key in HKCU\Control Panel\Phone... maybe "KeypadStateOnLaunch" or "KeypadStateOrientations"
but I am not certain.
I tried several of these settings, none was successful.
I also tried to play around with some keys in HKCM/Software/HTC/HTCSensors/GSensor..
None changed the behaviour as I liked.
Maybe its not checking GSensor at startup, but if the Keyboard of the Rhodium is open or not....
Okay... perhaps an odd question here... I'm running my Touch Pro2 with a default ROM and the default Windows Mobile lock screen. Here's my problem... I carry it in a holster that has a magnetic closure. When I pull it out of the holster the magnetic sensor in the phone thinks the keyboard was opened and rotates the display to landscape. After a few seconds it realizes the keyboard is not open and rotates back to portrait.
The issues is that I need to wait two-four seconds for this process to complete before I can use my phone. Granted, that isn't a HUGE time, but it is annoying. It won't register me attempting to slide it unlock when it's in landscape because it's thinking about going back to portrait. It would be nice to just force it to stay in portrait regardless of whether the keyboard is open or not. But of course the kicker is that it's only the lock screen that I want to act like this. Other programs should still swap to landscape if the keyboard opens.
Anyone have a clue how to do this?
I have been using my the docking station for my titan and am loving it however when docked the start screen remains "sideways" as well as hubs and index search.
rather than a question about landscape mode because maybe that functionality isn't programmed or possible. Is there a way to rotate the start screen to portrait facing me while the phone is docked landscaped? I can picture a huge black bar or empty space off to the right which is fine.
are there any registry edits maybe out there or?
I don't believe anybody has found a way to force the Start screen into landscape mode. This is true even with those Windows phones that have landscape slide-out keyboard (which normally force the phone into Landscape mode while the keyboard is out). I see no evidence of support for a landscape start screen in anything that I've yet seen of WP7.
