Earlier today my ATT Tilt was having trouble synching to my office system; it would charge, but it would not be recognized by Active Sync. I had been planning to flash the new HardSPL tonight anyway, so I thought I'd check different cables on the home system while I looked to update the SPL.
When I got it home, none of the cables or other systems would change the basic problem: the unit would charge, but the device would not be recognized. I tried soft resetting it, but that did not help. I thought I'd try taking the battery out, then try a hard reset.
After taking the battery out, the system went straight to the tricolor boot loader, with "serial" underneath. The micro SD card it had in it wasn't formatted for FAT32 and didn't have an image on it, so it just stuck there.
I removed the microSD card.
I then tried plugging in the USB cable (which does change the screen from serial to USB), but attempting to flash a ROM still fails, as the USB connection still seems to be dead for that. Hard reset does not change this; it goes straight to tricolor.
It didn't seem to be charging on the usb or on the charger (no yellow light), so I also I removed the battery so as not to waste any remaining charge.
My current theory is to get another SD card in the morning, format it with FAT32 and see if it will flash a rom. Any other, better ideas?
Since I had the (v1) HardSPL on it with one of Dutty's ROMs, I am a
bit afraid to send it in for warranty replacement repair, at least until
I can restore it. But if I can't get anything to it, it's going to be a bear
to get through the diagnostic update to restore the original rom.
If I am missing anything obvious to try here, I'll glad take the noob points, but I'm stuck for better ideas.
Thanks for any thoughts.
Mtty doesn't work
Meant to mention that mtty.exe doesn't work through USB.
No Joy with sd card, hmm
So, I re-formatted the SD card, put an image on it, and it was recognized. It loaded the radio and OS, gave a success message and stayed on the white screen. I did a soft-reset, according to the "Flashing with SD cards" instructions, and it returned me to the boot loader and offered to re-run the install. I did that (why not, I guess?), and it did the same thing.
This had been Hard SPL'ed, but I'm trying a return to the stock ATT rom now. Any other thoughts much appreciated.
<edited>Same thing happens with the stock ATT rom. If I load it via SD card, it reports success, but a reset returns to the tri-color screen if the SD card is taken out and to the "loading" screen if it is not.
Hey there,
It seems I have a similar problem as you. A few days ago, I wanted to install this rom:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=392245
There was a hardSPL with it. Copied it to my device, ran it (went into tricolor mode, so that's good). From there, I wanted it to flash it, but my laptop didn't recognize my Kaiser anymore. Soft-resetted the thing, went back into windows mobile.. good. Bu from that point, my laptop didn't recognize my Kaiser anymore, it just charges the damn thing..
EDIT:
Laptop now recognizes my phone.. when updating, the screen freezes on the white screen with the percentage bar (how many % is done flashing the romd)
damn.

That does sound bad, too. When you were getting the tri-color screen were you still showing the old SPL or the new one?
And what, if anything, changed when the Laptop went from charging to not recognizing the phone?
I have had some issues with getting usb to recognize in the tricolor screen. In my latest spl flash, it took about five trys to get it to work, you have to be persistent some times.
Anyways the steps to get it recognized are as follows:
1. I plugged the phone in, (with the os booted, you can't do this obviously) and waited for activesync.
2. Went into bootloader mode, in the tricolor screen it said I had USB, but I was never able to flash.
3. Disconnect the usb while in tricolor, and wait about 15 sec and plug it back in.
4. I waited for about a minute, the tricolor screen never showed USB on it again, however it worked.
Im hoping that will help you a bit, just try to unplug and plug the usb back in. Good luck.
edit: is it showing olipro 1.00 or similar in the tricolor screen? That would be HardSPL if it is.
Use task Manager to make sure that there is not a current session of activesync running on device before plugging in. If there is kill it & try again.
I have recently had very good luck in helping others with this situation, but it is a detailed process best done over IM & takes at least 45 minutes to an hour to complete. I have a bit of a reputation for saving Kaisers. At any rate, try a few of the suggestions above, then if all else fails PM me & I'll see when I have some time.

At this point, the tricolor screen is showin the following:
KAIS130
SPL-1.JUMPSPL
CPLD-8
I already got my laptop to recognize my phone, just gave it a reset. I'll update as soon as my phone is over 50% of charge.
i had the same problem with my usb port...
I have just been flashing roms from microSD but I am stuck with radio from hell with no way to change it without usb connection
i also wanted to flash a new spl but have read that it is not recommended to do so from sd card.
not sure if its a hardware or software problem, in either case, it is a problem with the phone, i have tried it on many different computers with many different cables and i also tested my brothers tilt which is detected by each computer immediately.

Thanks for your message. The phone is showing olipro (I had flashed it with HardSPL before all this started; I was getting ready to update it to the new HardSPL for WM6.1 ROMs). I've tried a couple of different cables and the usb seems truly gone. I have had problems with it being a bit sensitive in the past, so I think the pins have just shorted at this point.
All else has failed...

Thanks for the message. There aren't two activesync sessions running on the XP system, and there are none on the phone (as it is stuck in bootloader, there is no way to get to its task manager).
After calling in to ATT and finding a fairly knowledgable tech (Ben, no last name given), it sounds like the original problem was that the mini usb slots has bent pins which caused a short. Somehow, when I removed and re-installed the battery, that short went from preventing a synch to toasting the OS. My first Tilt had a red-light of death on first charge, so I pretty much believe that something in the electronics connecting the usb/charger and battery is delicate on Kaisers.
They're going to send out a warranty replacement tomorrow, and the RMA packaging for returning this unit. I guess I'll just cross my fingers that they don't boot it and notice that it isn't a stock SPL. Given that it's being written up as a hardware issue (as it is), hopefully they won't.
What could they do after you get the new one? Charge you for it? Guess you never know with ATT.
Since your sending it back anyways, why not try to flash the SPL from the microSD? You might be able to revert it back to the stock ATT spl, then no worries right!
I think I got it..
This is what I did. I followed the following steps from the first post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=354061
Then I did the same thing, but I used the rom I wanted to flash. Now the first time it got stuck @ 17%.. but on the second time, I succesfully flashed my rom. Hope this helps!
Theoretically, yes

I did try flashing the SPL from the microSD, several times and using the stock ATT SPL was one of the choices. It reverted back to tri-color boot mode.
Theoretically, yes, they could demand payment. I've heard of them doing that if a customer said that a unit hadn't been wet, but they found that it had when they did diagnostics. Down from that, they could terminate the warranty or shut off service. Now that T-mobile is getting higher speed, that's not the threat it once was, but still.
The battery is now also empty (since it had no way of charging), so I am hoping they won't even bother.
Glad to hear it!

I have the same prblem as your USB is gone cannot move from tricolor screen. Cannot even flash from sd card. Check my signature for the link of my thread it explains everything that happened to it.
hello,
i'm interssested to buy it. can you send me your mail at [email protected]
Hi,
Last night when I turn off the cellphone appears a screen with four colors (red green blue and white) ... not going into windows mobile ...I turn it off and turn switch on and press the reset and nothing!
And as I left the tricolor screen i got no battery, so when I put my mobile charging it always switched on and off the screen by himself becoming the tricolor screen.
Can someone help me?
Thanks
Hopefully you backed up everything. At that point, I would do a hard reset, which restores it back to the factory settings and deletes everything off of it. If you're comfortable doing that, you have to find the instructions to hard reset your handset.
Mine was Sprint's HTC Touch Pro 2, so for me, I held down the TALK, END, and POWER buttons until the screen came up and I just followed the instructions. If that doesn't work, let me know what brand you have and I can look up how to do it on yours. Good luck and let me know if this works for you.
Hard reset probably won't work in this case, although it certainly doesn't hurt to try.
Looping to bootloader (the tri-color screen), based on previous threads I've read, usually indicates there is something wrong with the ROM itself, which may require the stock ROM to be flashed.
Might also be a hardware failure.

At this moment I cant do anything with the mobile because it has no battery to try to do something, because when I switch to load it turns the screen tricolor on and off right after!
And if I ordered another battery it takes longer than 30 days
I think the solution is to send for repair to HTC because he's still under warranty!
But thanks for help
Flash stock ROM and see if it flashes. Usually they flash. If it doesnt, then send it to repair.
Make sure you use the wall charger, and don't try to charge via USB. The USB cable won't charge the battery if its discharged too far.
If you charge from the wall charger overnight, it still won't power on?
Im trying to explain everything to prevent unneeded questions
I have viewed several threads about this but absolutely none with an answer. My Samsung Infuse 4g with at&t (nonrooted) is in a bootloop. The cause of this was my every-other-day reboot. Once I turned it back on it goes to the samsung screen for about 5 secs, then goes black, then says samsung again and so on repeatedly. I pull the battery and as soon as it makes contact back with the phone it turns on by itself into the same Samsung screen over and over. When plugged into wall or computer it will show the charge screen where there is no battery life left, then it will flash and start up the charge screen again and so on just like the samsung screen. I cannot go into download mode (the buttons, at this point, do nothing. No response)
I have tried taking the battery out and plugging in usb cable to computer, then holding both volumes and putting battery in=charging loop
↑ with volume up=charging loop
↑↑ with volume down=charging loop
computer doesnt detect it, adb cant find it, cannot go into download mode, odin cant see it, heimdall cant see it, cant actually boot into anything, cant leave battery in or else phone will restart itself the entire time, and this was caused by my (already gbread) infuse 4g doing a regular reboot (aka power button, tap power off, after phone is confirmed off take battery out, battery back in, turn on)
Recommendations at this point? on a scale from 1=noob to 10=expert im a 7 on this type of thing. Ive always heard that as long as you can boot into a picture its only soft bricked but if i was right i wouldnt be here. Any and all help would be much appreciated. If you need me to post a video I would have NO problem doing that showing everything im doing.

You might have already tried this way, but I've always held down both volume buttons first before plugging in the USB cord - not the other way around. You can also try different cords, different USB ports and/or different computers.
Mine was doing this the other day and it turned out to be my SD card being flaky. Maybe try taking it out and booting?

Ive tried a hp touchpad cord, an atrix cord, and the original cord. I cant really do the button combo because as soon as the battery makes contact the phone turns on. thats why i had the usb cord in first to see if it worked. ive tried every usb port and 2 different laptops, the computer wont recognize it if the phone wont go past the samsung start up screen

I should have been clearer. Leave the battery out of the process until after attaching the cord and the screen coming up.

I do, every time.
1. battery out
2. hold down volume buttons (any combo)
3. attach cord (nothing happens, no screen, nothing)
4. put battery in
Results= Charging loop

should be the same...wonder if you battery needs to be charged first, it should be fully charged at best...to do any flash/Odin/one click
this how I do it...basicly the same..
>take batt out
>plug in usb cable...to both phone and computer
>hold both volume buttons...NO NOT HOLD THE POWER BUTTON....
>put batt in...
and bam should see the android dude shoveling in yellow triangle...
If you get no response from the usb without the battery, and inserting the battery indicates the battery needs charging - I'd suspect the phone's usb port. Especially after trying different cords & computers.

I was in this state. There are two options I can think of. A JIG as mentioned previously or the Heimdall One-Click-Unbrick. The one-click unbrick did it for me and got me back to cmw and download mode, then i could flash to stock, root and flash up to ICS. It was really easy and I stopped sweating once it booted to cmw instantly after running it.

The problem is when i connect it to my computer its keep disconnecting and doing terreble noise, (windows noise) when you keep connecting and disconnecting USB cable
JIG DIDNT WORK, because the same problem.... maybe the chargging connect is broken? or has a corrosion?

Sounds/Looks like a hardware issue...
Did it get any water damage in the past?
Hope you got warranty or still under warranty.
I am having exactly the same problem. My Infuse has never been rooted or unlocked (quite ironically, I was about to root it for the first time).
Boot loop when not plugged in, charge loop when plugged in. Absolutely no combination of buttons, inserting/removing the battery, and/or plugging/unplugging the USB has gotten it to do anything.
This has happened several times over the past few days. The first few times it sorted itself out in an hour or two. Today I couldn't get it to do anything at all.
I found several posts by people who have this problem, and it has never been conclusively solved from what I've seen. Finally one person said they fixed it by lightly smacking the phone with their hand. Lo and behold, it came on for about 5 minutes before looping again. So I smacked it again, and before it could re-loop, I factory reset it. A few hours went by and I was convinced that it was fixed.
A few minutes ago I had it plugged in to my computer via USB and was getting ready to SuperOneClick it. Then it went back into loop. I can't get it to come on this time. Again, no combination of buttons will send it into download mode. The computer can't see it. The battery is charged. The USB cable and port are fine. The software was reset earlier today. Does this mean that I have a hardware problem, or is there a software issue that could be fixable?
EDIT: So I decided to try hitting the power button, something that had never worked to this point, and the device came on. A couple minutes later it went back to boot loop. On a whim I tried download mode, which had stubbornly refused to work all day. Of course it immediately worked. Not really knowing what to try, since I'd already wiped user data, I wiped cache data and formatted the internal SD. Then I told it to reboot. Back to boot loop. A few minutes later, it came back on with the power button. Two minutes later, boot loop again. Then it restarted of its own accord. And now back to boot loop. I just don't even know anymore.
EDIT2: Just a thought... Something is weird with the power button. Whenever the phone is on and I hit power (briefly, not holding it down), it goes to the shutdown menu as though I'd held it down. A few seconds later, I'm always back in boot loop.
Infuse loop
I have found the problem. It is, in my case, the power button. I removed the case and crossed terminals with a paperclip. BAM. Booted up, and when I removed the paper clip.... back to boot loop at Samsung logo.
There is a place to send the phone. Ive see great reviews.
mobiletechvideos.mybigcommerce.com/samsung-infuse-4g-power-button-repair/
Seems like there has been a string of power button malfunctions going around lately. There are a few threads going on where people have had this issue. Sometimes its just the terminals needing to be cleaned or dust blown out.
Note: I did search and looked at "Similar Threads"
Hi, I'm having problems with my samsung infuse... I installed [ODIN][UCLB3] AT&T 2.3.6 Gingerbread with root and CWM recovery option onto my phone using odin, worked fine for a few months.
After that it started to mess up and occasianally brick itself.. so i wanted to put a different mod on, Tried using GTG unbrick and now its bricked...
Every time i try to load either 2.3.6 GB or stock firmware, it works for all of 2 minutes, and bricks itself again.
I have tried everything, except for this. Help?
I'm not sure I'd really be able to help, but people are going to want to know what it does exactly when it "bricks"
Back to stock is usually a pretty safe bet and has worked for me every time I've botched my phone. It almost sounds like a hardware problem if back to stock isn't working. I'm pretty sure it erases pretty much all data from your phone.
Two minutes in to boot up your phone might still be checking your SD card. back to stock doesn't affect the SD card. Perhaps try running without the SD card to eliminate that as a problem.
I think I may have found what the problem is, The modified recovery file is still on the internal memory.. Any way I can get that off? or am i stuck.

Well I did this. It says to re-do the flash and use "Flash Bootloader" Well now my phone wont go into download mode AT ALL. I've tried ever singe way possible.
Phone is stuck on Samsung loop, or when its plugged in, it keeps disconnecting and reconnecting and is stuck between a blank screen and the loading bar. I've been trying for hours to put it into download mode, and this isn't the first time this has happened. but everything on the phone is now stock.

If it boots, it should go into download mode... be sure you are following the right process... some people hold the power button in and it won't work that way...
DOWNLOAD mode: Power off. Open back cover. Remove battery. Press and hold both volume buttons - (do not hold power button) Insert battery while holding volume buttons. Plug in USB cable.
It can also be achieved by open back cover, Remove battery. Press and hold both volume buttons. Plug in USB cable and then insert battery.
thanks, qkster
Edit: You may need to try a different USB port on your puter, remember that you have to use the same port each time for Heimdall to execute properly... good luck.

This is exactly what is happening to my phone right now, after I booted up the fix you sent me.
That being the case it is most likely the power button is stuck.
Here is a video that, although it is a "how to" replace the screen, the point is it shows the phone being taken apart thus allowing one to get to the power button and clean it. This worked for another user that had the same problem - hope it is helpful for you as well.

Run the OEM RUU first ( you need to know what network the phone is locked too and choose the matching RUU, should you have a few options to choose from then choose the highest number or latest version, if it's unlocked choose the HTC RUU again the latest or highest definition).
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2094414
If all else fails ...
Send it back to HTC service centre. Best outcome they'll repair it for free, worst outcome they will tell you how much it'll cost to be repaired and if you choose not to repair then you have to pay P&P for device to be returned. The choice is yours!
Hope that helps.

When you mean you tried to replug the battery, does it mean you were able to open the casing of your oneS? It seems your problem is you have a bad battery, or else your battery is dead.

yeah i was able to open the phone, the battery is connected via pin to the motherboard (i though it was solder to the main base)
I'm going to try to charge the battery with an external charger, then plug in to the phone and see what happens.
Is all because of a bug on CWM....TWRP the best!
Testing

yes, as I can recall on the battery pin, you'll just have to connect the red and black pin to an external power supply, good luck mate! you can do it! :highfive:
