Beloved Uni wont start - JASJAR, XDA Exec, MDA Pro ROM Development

Hi friends,
today it happened, my beloved universal wont start anymore.
Happend last week too, but after a hard reset and restoring a backup, I've lost only one day data.
It stucks at the boot screen, showing the WM6 boot logo - for ever.
I can switch it on and of - just the WM6 boot logo appears and disapears.
The Led is blinking green (with sim inserted), but it's not showing a call. Still showing just the boot logo.
Unfortunately I can not make a hard reset. Because I have lots of new data inside my little friend, which I could not backup in the last week - too busy.
What I tried:
- remove battery
- new battery
- lots of soft rests
- entering the hard reset menu - but pressing X for exit
ROM is thingonaspring. Radio 1.18
Is there anything I can do? Except a hard reset?
Thanks

I would recommend to reflash the ROM
Good luck,

Thanks guys, nothing worked, except installing a new ROM. Unfortunately my last week data is lost. But hey, my Uni is alive again

Same Situation
After two years of working fine, my T-Mobile MDA Pro refused to get past the boot screen. I didn't want to do a hard reset (and lose all of my program settings) and so sent the unit to PocketPCTechs for repair. Of course they did a hard reset anyway and reflashed the ROM with Mobile 6.1. I got the unit back and it worked for 8 hours, while I restored everything, and then the same thing happened: it freezes at sign-on screen. So, apparently, nothing was really repaired. Just curioius: is there a way to restore operating system files without losing all the other stuff I have on the device? Of course, most of my data and applications are on my SD card (thank goodness), and so I haven't lost any data. I do have a Sprite backup, but I've had problems with Sprite before and so prefer not to have to depend on it.
It just seems to me that there has to be a better way! If an operating system file gets corrupted, thereby preventing bootup, I should be able to fix that particular file only and not trash everything else.

[Q] Restart loop(not bootloop) - really weird

Hey lads,
I got a really weird problem and I've tried nearly everything I can think of. I had EMUI 2.3(b121sp06) and I tried the online OTA update to b307 if I remember right(was automatically suggesting the update) and at the update screen it loaded to about 99% and then stopped. Said not to press power while on this screen but obviously it wasn't going to finish. So I reset the phone and it started the "recovery loop", so basically keep trying to apply the update. I had to flash CWM to break out and flashed the whole system by hand(recovery, system, boot, cache, cust and userdata img files) and it starts up but it keeps resetting and seemingly it's random. Android boots up, I don't touch the phone--> boom reset. Weird thing is it even does it in recovery.
If I really want to explain the problem it's like as if my finger got stuck on the power button(that naturally made me think that the button might be f*cked), but booting into fastboot and not having resets cleared my suspicion. What I also noticed is that every time it boots up it doesn't recognize the sim card and I have no signal or whatsoever.
Tried multi tool unbricking method -> doesn't work
Tried factory reset from stock recovery(had to be fast so it doesn't reset before) ->doesn't work
Tried wiping dalvik cache and factory reset from CWM ->doesn't work
Tried killing battery by letting it keep resetting -> battery drained, reset loop stopped ->put the phone on charger->reset loop started again
I have no f*cking clue how can I get out of this, will keep trying though. Any help is appreciated, thank you!
Hi
Did you try to remove the Sd Card ? Honor 6 reboot is often due to faulty SD Card.
Which model do you have ? L04 ?
B307 upgrade sure ?
Seb
Yes, that was my first idea, still does it though. I have the L02 and I'm not positive it was b307, but it started with 3, could be b303 if there is one.
I don't know for L02 but for L04 there is a Full ROM that you can flash with the three buttons method. (Vol+,Vol-, power and put the ROM in /dload folder on the SD card).
Maybe there is such thing for L02 ?
There is, but as I said the phone restarts even in recovery. It's like the phone restarts every 30 secs except for fastboot.
if it's not SD card or internal flash problem so, it seems to be hardware related to me (
Would make sense but it occurred only after I tried OTA. Would be really surprised if that killed that hardware :-/

Unfortunately not, I'm out of ideas, trying to negotiate with the seller to sort something out, I think the phone is beyond saving
Same thing happened with me. Don't have any solution. Have you fixed it?

Its might be a battery problem Or power flex cable. Try to turn on the phone during charge
guys im facing the same problem now... waiting for any solutions
I have tried stop & uninstall some app
I've tried as quickly as I can when the phone (nokia x) is on, then I stop> uninstall I consider potentially cause this problem (facebook, whatsapp, uc browser) and then it managed to prevent the continuous restarts. but problems arise even though the application had me uninstall and then I restart the phone. and it is back again, I uninstalled the app that has remained with the error settings and restart repeatedly. who knows what else : '(

Did you follow the guide here?
Sent from my Honor 8 using XDA Labs
In the past my battery lost it's endurance pretty much. Furthermore I've read that a defective battery causes lots of weird behaviours on our Honor 6, which was the same to mine.
In my case a replacement of the battery worked well, to get my Honor 6 back to life:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ceyzXavxFAw
It's not that difficult and lasts approx. 30-45 mins. Spare Batteries are available for 6 - 10 bucks on ebay or directly from the chinese internet stores.

It's really important that we use original chargers for the health of our device.

Softbricked G Flex 2 freezing at start. Boots but unable to start.

Hi everyone.
I have an LG G Flex 2 (H955) that suddenly went on a fritz. It used to be rooted fine, it was on default firmware, 10 something (wouldn't OTA due to rooting), no issues, but as I am a heavy user, enabled multiuser, had a bunch of apps installed and running it started to slow down on occasion, but nothing unexpected. Anyway, few days back, it shut down on its own while I was typing a message and the phone entered bootloop - on it's own. I decided to cut my losses and did the factory reset the hardware way, it booted up, did the "optimizing apps thing", got to welcome screen and - froze - then just restarted. It's been doing that ever since. Sometimes it boots all the way and then freezes and starts, sometimes it gets stuck on LG logo, sometimes even boots and works for a minute or two but still freezes and reboots.
I can access Download mode, and HW factory reset. I flashed several stock ROMs I found with LG flash tool 2014. It goes without a hitch, boots up, again gets to the welcome screen and reboots. I tried to to the dd cmd way to flash the only system.img I found online, but I get a security error at boot. It gets fixed when I flash the stock ROM again with flash tool. I am at my wits end. I have no warranty, I have no backed up original dump. With my limited knowledge I have somewhat of a hunch that one of the partitions might be corrupted as it boots most of the time but as it tries to write or read something from somewhere (hence showing the Welcome screen) it dies.
Would anyone have a suggestion as to what I might try next, or had a similar experience?
Thank you all very much in advance for any help.
Have you tried this tool with the appropriate image?

Hi and thanks for the tip. However, no, I have not tried this method as my device is H955, International version, and I am not keen on messing up the phone worse then it already is.
I will look it up in more detail, but as far as I can see it only pertains to the H950 (ATT version)
Edit: I looked it up in detail, and the developer removed the H955 support as there is a KDZ for it and he claims the .kdz is a much better option - however - .kdz does not work for me. It flashes the rom all right, both in Normal and CSE Flash modes, but the problem persists. Turns on (if I'm lucky), freezes, reboots and so on.
D'oh, didn't see the H955 part. :-|
Sorry to hear you are still stuck, can't offer much more unfortunately.
I know one of the flashing modes does a reset, but maybe a reset after the flash might help.. i think it's, from powred off, down plus power until the lg logo then release and then hold power on its own until you get to a recovery screen where you can reset.
you probably already tried that I'm guessing though. taken memory card out if you're using one?

Hi and thanks for yet another tip. However, you guessed right - I tried everything - reset from the recovery, before the flash, after the flash, in the middle of flash, with memory card, without memory card, tons of times - you name it, I've tried it. And still, it boots up (sometimes, though), freezes and go bye-bye. I'm completely out of ideas. If I could somehow rebuild partitions from Download mode, or use ADB, or push some image I found and flash it directly, but there is no way to push files to phone in Download mode (and 5.1.1. disabled external memory, so that is out of the option too).
It seems I'm stuck for now. I'm wondering if the repair guys have some tricks up their sleeves, perhaps with those hardware boxes, jtag something or other...
im on same boat with h955p, any solution?
the battery is the problem 100%. i had the same problem and i managed to fix it with buying a new battery and replacing it. 10$ on aliexpress plus you get the tools and it is really easy to replace.
hi. i was stuck in this situation. you can reflash the original stock rom back from LG UP software. at me this was the problem. my friend have a korean model and at him the 4g data connection was the problem...i was on the update of the marshmellow and freeze and reboot...factory reset didn't do something cool and keeps rebooting...but i was smart and lucky and my brain was thinking at the reflash of the phone...so i was to the reflash so my phone was completely and fully functional...no freeze , no reboot...and look for the v20a italy firmware (stock rom)...i say this because this v20a italy rom is so f***in stable and no battery drain...better than other stock rom marshmellow. Thanks me later.

Have I bricked my new S6?

I just picked up this phone yesterday. I started setting it up and found an encryption feature I thought would be useful as I deal with sensitive data. I read the instructions which said that the phone will take an hour or so to complete encryption, and I saw it restart and progress through the progress bar that appeared. It then went onto the Samsung logo and stayed there for about 2 hours. I got concerned and thought it had frozen so I restarted the phone using the 3 keys. Now it just recycles and gets to the Samsung logo and doesn't progress?!
Have you tried to factory reset or the data is not a thing that you can lose.
I had to find out how to factory reset via the boot. I've done that and my phone successfully works again. The issue was I couldn't get into the phone to reset - it was stuck on the Samsung logo, so resetting from boot was the only way (and thankfully it worked)

Booting issue

Hi, I bought a used Nexus 5 and it has been causing quite some problem when booting. I flashed Cyanogenmod in it and it works fine for a few days. After that it keeps having the same problems in the following order:
- It would restart on its own, sometimes some random app will fail functioning (it's never the same app).
- Turns off on itself without restarting. Can still be turned on normally.
- From there it gets worse and start bootlooping. On CM it loops around the part where it initialises the apps. On stock its the colourful stuff that happens right after the Google logo.
- Finally it just gets stuck in boot. On CM it's stuck where it initialises apps while for stock it turns off right after the Google logo appears.
I have tried the following:
- The persist partition fix described at https://forum.xda-developers.com/google-nexus-5/general/guide-to-fix-persist-partition-t2821576
- Cleaning the power button and made sure it wasn't stuck.
- Re-flashing CM, did a checksum to make sure the files are okay
- Went back to stock, did a checksum too.
It's a used phone so I have no idea what it went through in the past. Anything I can do to fix it?
Try running the phone with a stock ROM without root. If the problem still happens, it's probably a hardware problem.
It didn't have root but I flashed a factory image (plus another round of factory reset too) and even locked the bootloader + reset the tamper flag this time. It's working fine now but the problems normally start a few hours/days later so I can't be sure at the moment.
If it does fail again which hardware is the one with the problem? The warranty's long gone so will it be easy to buy a new part and replace it myself?
The cheapest solution may be to buy a used Nexus 5 with a smashed screen and working internal components to swap out components.

Galaxy S7 weird black screen

Hello,
Last week my phone froze while I was using it.
And now it refused to start.
I tried the reset method (volume down + power) but nothing.
When I am charging it, there is no red light, and the screen doesn't come on.
Strangely, today I tried again to charge it, and this time, I got the charging battery logo on the screen and the charging red light.
I was able to start it again, but it froze on the home page, and now it's dead again.
I think after one week, the phone finally run out of battery, and was maybe able to reset itself.
Here come the question: I don't care about the phone, but I care about some photos that are trapped in it.
Do you think next time there is a way to access the data without booting it up?
Should I try something with the recovery mode?
Best regards,
Hello !
Some more info :
I bought an iOpener from ifixit and open the phone to disconnect the battery connector.
Now the phone is live again (red light when charging, green battery logo), but I am pretty sure if I boot it it will freeze again .
What do you suggest ?
I had several ideas, but I am not really sure :
- I wanted to install TWRP and backup the phone, but the phone is encrypted by the samsung default system, so I don't think it's possible ? Can you confirm ?
- Can I install TWRP and reinstall a ROM without losing all my data ?
Thanks a lot !
Best regards!

No. Any attempt to install TWRP or any other ROM will result in further problems and data loss.
If it is a hardware problem then your only hope is to boot the phone in its current state or safe mode to retrieve your data.
If its a software problem you can try Smart Switch to recover your data, but unfortunately all solutions require the phone to boot.
