I don't know if this is a foolish question but does anyone know if it's possible to use the Resco FTP part of Resco explorer to download files from one's own WLAN/PC via wireless. I use wireless to transfer video files but every so often I forget and switch off the screen which sleep modes the Resco app and stops the download. The FTP part can resume downloads but the explorer can't.
(Either that or anyone know how to blank the screen on a touch pro but keep the download going on the Resco explorer? )
Any advice much appreciated

I have searched quite thoroughly, both on this forum and wider, for a solution to this. I may be being thick, but...
When I've installed (to either the device or the SD card ) Resco Explorer I get "this is not a valid pocket pc application" when I try to run it. I've tried running it from the start menu shortcut and from the application icon in Program Files.
Would really appreciate help with this as I am unable to do any of the nice HKLM tweaks out there without Resco Explorer.

Sounds like you may have downloaded an incorrect version. Can you give us a link to where you got it from?
Well its not exactly an official source, if you see what I mean. I dont mind paying for the application, if it proves to be useful and easy for me to use. Until then I guess Im a bit stuck then.
Ive tried .cab of the 2010 beta and the 2008 "rescoexploreren_p.exe" app, installed via the PC.
You can download a free trial of Resco, but I'd recommend Total Commander. It's not as finger friendly as Resco, but it's certainly more wallet friendly (as in, it's free )
You can Google it or find it on here.
on my leo, resco file explorer 2010 runs without a problem. so i think it's because of your 'source' why it's not running on your device.
try the official demo or search for better "source". but first be sure not having downloaded a virus (actually infecting your pc)
On my HD2 Resco Explorer 2008 running without any problem, downloaded from resco.net and installed via pc.
Im not to sure where to look for this but i was looking for information on how to access my home network to access and play songs, vids over a wifi connection to play files straight off my computer or my Hard Drive.

I do it via Resco Explorer, it has this feature build in. You can easily browse the content of your PC this way.

i used to use this, but since i got my HD2, i've been using Resco Explorer too! it's fantastic!
Network HD2
I've now got Resco Explorer after seeing this thread but still have no idea how to go about setting up the network.
Step by step instructions please, anyone?
Many thanks in advance.
You don't need 3rd party software for this - you can do it with file explorer.
Open file explorer
Do Menu, Goto, Open path, New path
Enter the shared folder name
Click OK
It's then available from the dropdown at the top left where you can change from device to storage card and back.
Network HD2
Hmmm... tried that, all seemed to go well, then it said it "cannot connect to server due to settings". Even though i'm connected via wifi and can get online thru various other programs!
Tried getting the internet settings from o2 UK and their website "cannot connect to this service at the moment" !
I think someone is trying to tell me not to do this!!

if you create a dropbox folder on your desktop with items in it you wish to access, you can use the browser on your phone to acess, download and modify them via the dropbox website.
The first step you must take is sharing the drive or folder you wish to access. This is achieved by right clicking the desired item and selecting "Properties", then going to the "Sharing" tab and staring blankly at it until the wysiwyg interface makes sense.
Once your share is created, you should either buy Resco Explorer and use it's "map network path" function while connected to your home Wi-Fi, or install/buy nothing but apply slightly more elbow grease and access your files using WM's built in file explorer.
The built in File Explorer application can access net shares by choosing "Menu"=>"Go To"=>"Open Path"=>"New Path..." and inputting the share adress formatted as follows: "\\ComputerNameOrIP\Share".
Now, this will obviously only allow WiFi access. To have truly anywhere, anytime type access install an ftp server on your pc in combination with "kickme.to" or a similar service and setting secure ftp shares for aforementioned files and folders, having RTFM'ed beforehand on both FTP serving and IP dynamic rerouting services such as kickme.to.
My sincere hopes to have made sense, DuperMan
You could also try Live Mesh. A free service from Microsoft which is quite similar to Dropbox but has a native WM client which I find preferable to browser access.
It's worth noting that a Dropbox WM client is in development, and I personally can't wait for that!
Thank you doperman
I have searched a lot but i am still having this probelm...
is it possible to view shared pictures on PC using PPC over Wifi...
1) I tried to connect using default browser but no connection..
2) Resco explorer sees my computer on network but is un able to connect..
3) Total commander connects to share folder and i can see all the files but it gives an error "Pictures and Videos"...Cannot Load File....
Since i dont want to copy the files on PPC... Is there any possibility to view pictures using shared connectivity.... i managed to view 3gp file thought using total commander...
Regards
Since you're talking about Total Commander I'm assuming you're using a WM phone?
Are the pictures you're trying to see .jpg?
You could always try via remote desktop, definitely should be able to see everything
Yes you guessed right it is WM device HTC Touch Pro....
And is the best remote desktop which support windows 7 and one more thing i would like to use it over wifi not internet.. Like Team Viewer....
I am looking for a good file explorer. It should be free, or really really good if it's paid. I'm not into Ads, so Astro is a no-go for me. I'm currently with ES File Explorer, but it's not exactly full-featured. For example, it doesn't show you the rate at which files are copied and you can't cancel a copy operation (I was trying to copy a 700 MB ISO over FTP to check out the speed and hardly managed to stop it Had to enable airplane mode to cause it to fail). Special requirements are FTP access, copying/pasting files (Copy to/Move to would be nice...) and cancelling such operations if they take a long time, and an "open with" capability. I don't know how this stuff is managed by Android, on WinMo you'd have an executable for each app and you would pass the filename to that app and that's it. I don't know if Apps on Android work the same way. Generally, the more features, the better. I used to have Resco Explorer on WinMo if that rings any bells. That's the kind of app that I'm looking for. Please post your suggestions
PS. And of course it should fit the Sensation's screen.
