Contact Manager, SMS, and Dialer Quesions - General Questions and Answers

I am new to WM and I love all of the customization that can be done. I am looking at a few different apps to run along with SPB Shell and I can't decide what to do. I have three apps I am looking into all with pros and cons. If anyone can help point me in the right direction that would be great. Thanks!
Phone Extension
The main thing I like about this app is the fact that it has a dialer. Dialers seem to be few and far between on the Omnia (WQVGA). Everything else here is good but doesn't really jump out and grab me like the other two. When scrolling through the contacts it tends to get jumpy somtimes.
PocketCM
I love this app (especially with the htctoucher gloss theme) but it is missing two key components: a dialer and a call log (I know you can look at it along with sms, but I would like a separate one). My favorite part has to be the SMS feature. It looks so professional and I love the text bubbles. It does have a tendency to jump around and not run as smooth as the Resco Contact though. With a dialer and a call log I would definitely go with this (if I could get it to run a little smoother that would be better too). I saw that Htctoucher has a gloss dialer that goes well with the contact manager but it doesn't work in WQVGA.
Resco Contact Manager
This program runs the best of the three but I would like for it to be skinable or at least have another color option. It definitely runs the smoothest of the three, but it also is missing a dialer. I like how it has a threaded read of your text messages but I wish it had one that functioned more like PocketCM's. One that had the look with the text bubbles, and one that allowed you to type right at the bottom of the screen while still seeing the other messages. This program does run with two flaws though. The phonepad doesn't stay up when I hit the button sometimes and the taskbar displays at the top over the program.
In all I am looking for an SMS app that looks like the one in PocketCM, very professional and lets me type while seeing my old messages (I tried out SmileySMS but it's not nearly the same). If possible I would like that to be integrated into a contact manager with pictures in the contact list and a call log to show all incoming, outgoing, and missed calls. And finally a dialer that goes along with the other two. Oh and if you could get all of that to run smoothly together that would be amazing.
Thanks!
(I am know I am being picky, but I figure I would see what thoughts others had. Thanks in advance!)

Welcome to xda-devs! Glad to have you with us. I'm just telling you before the mods yell at you, you need to post all questions in the Q&A section.

Sorry about that, I told you I'm new right
Thanks!

No problem, just thought I'd warn you.
BTW, have you checked out iDialer and iContact? They're seperate programs that have been programmed to work very well together. I don't know if they support WQVGA but it might be worth taking a look.
The SMS thing is harder to do. I've been wishing for a better SMS interface for a while, the best I've seen is unfortunately not freeware, it's made by VITO.

Group Texting

I want to be able to send a text to a group of 7 or 8 people. Can I set something up on Windows Mobile 6 so I don't have to keep adding these people separately?
Try this

...or this - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=306682

Hopefully one of these suggested so far will be just what you were looking for.....failing that, there's always Google

Has anyone used them? Can anyone recommend one of the others?

Dude, start typing names into the "to" field with the keyboard. Auto-complete pops up the names of your contacts so all you have to do is select them.
People make too big of a deal about this issue, IMO...
But if it's 20 or 30 people and your have to start typing them each time, that's still maybe 3 or 4 minute job. Also, you have to fish out your list each time to check who needs them.
Compared to being able to type 'Football' or something instead. Myself, I would say it's quite a decent time/hassle saver...
The first link I posted above should work well for you; it's "category-centric", so if you create a "Football" contact category you can assign the required contacts to that category. When using the GroupSMS program, it will list the categories you have defined and you can then pick one (or more); then you just enter the message you want to send....job done!
Read the threads, try 'em out.....

HOW TO: Increase size of caller id picture / photo??

Question is simple:
HOW TO: Increase size of caller id picture / photo?? during incoming/outgoing calls...
but without using any 3rd party software but just by registry or some other manual tweak...
How it's done?? Someone help!
I've used Blue Angel/PDA 2K for 4 years, & there is a great possibility in PDA 2k at increasing/decreasing contact pictures while incoming or outgoing call, besides it has a more hands-on and enhanced software of Photo Contacts than Universals'...
But it can be done in Uni, is'nt it so? BUT HOW?
The simplest way is to install S2U and activate full screen caller,
then use S2V to assign the photos to contacts,
Good luck!
respect the post bro!
thanks for your advice as a senior. its ok.
But it's clearly stated in my 1st post that
1. NO 3rd Party software
2. Only Manual tweak within the registry without installing anything.
Thanks.
There is no way without additional software modifications,
In your second post you mention about Photo Contacts program, you would like to know that it is a 3dy part program too.
The only way to increase (incoming) caller photos without any programs is to alter your Dialpad skin, but it will never be fullscreen anyway and I am not sure if there are such dial pad skins around fully compatible with WM6 and VGA (that's important if you are running on WM6 and above).
It's your choice,
the fast and easy way or..
Good luck!
<<In future PLEASE don't post same questions in multiple threads sections>>
first i wud like to say that i used "Photo Contacts" as a General term.
If any 3rd company has made a software over that general term, it's not
supposed to be applied everywhere like you just did. Sorry on your perception.
2ndly Bro, if u don't know the solution there's no need to fight, nor to show your attitude over someone that STOP posting & stop this stop THAT!
Discussion is the only part to success, not by fighting. REMEMBER THAT!
& Calm down, relax, get easy...This is a well balanced discussion, & fight is'nt excepted here but only precise knowledge/data.
Bro, Use a Blue Angel/PDA2k, then ur mind will get a little change,
that if features were more in WM2003, then why NOT in WM6.1 ??
I am flaming no one just, answering by facts,
I've had a Qtek 9090 too and know the program you are talking about
http://www.ixbt.com/pda/t-mobile/mda-compact/mda-compact-screen-photocontacts.png
Trust me,the way you asked to ''increase the size of caller id'' isnt realizable.
No offense,
just use some workarounds and you'll get something better and in fullscreen.
(and in future if you will find a Reg Tweak to make that, fell free to post it)
As for ''STOP posting & stop this stop THAT!'' I remember you to read and follow General XDA-Developers Rules
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=681487&postcount=1
Nothing personal
Have a good day!
dear dr Fuma, for a while, waiting for some one in unkown times found it in registry,
maybe you can visit here: http://www.pocketx.net/
hope can cheere your day
In Your BlueAngel there was no way to display caller ID photos by OS itself. There was additional software involved (3rd party software). Photo Caller ID was introduced in WM5.
BTW. I had animated gifs those times and i couldn't find any software which can do the same since then...

[REQ] Enhanced calendar tab in Sense

Hi all!
This is my first post in these forums, even though I've been idling for some time. So, first of all, thank you all for all the contributions these forums have made to the WM scene! Especially to noobs like me.
So - since I'm a former PocketBreeze user I would very much like to integrate tasks into the calendar tab on the today screen. I made a simple sketch below.
The idea is to simply have the tab showing the tasks. "Today" would show all tasks that are active on the present date, together with outdated - unchecked - tasks as well as tasks without due dates. Further down in the agenda, tasks are also shown once on the date they start and once on the date they end. Having the ability to "check" a task once it's finished would certainly be icing on the cake.
I have no idea if this is even possible but it would most definitely make my day (as well as many others', I'm sure).
Thanks for your time!
great idea.. send it to HTC
I think you will find the majority of people on this forum would agree with your request. Adding Tasks to the HTC calendar would be perfect. While I love PocketBreeze, SPB Diary and so forth - I prefer a clean and simple interface. If I don't need an additional piece of software I don't want one.

Even though I don't think they pick ideas like these up from users - can someone give me a hint on where I should sent it? The support line doesn't seem quite right...
Sorry to bump this old thread, but I just found this and this idea is awesome!
Maybe now someone can do this someway or another.
Very good mockup, by the way. it would look wonderful.

[REQ] Showing the day of the week on WM 6.5 taskbar & also on cclock panel

Hi,
This is the first time for me to post a Request, and since my Samsung Intrepid isn't on the list below, I'm posting here. I hope it's not out of order, if it is, then Admin please do not delete, but just move it to the appropriate place and email me as to new location.
I'm running Titanium, and one thing I've been looking for high and low, on this and other forums, is an app that allows me to put the day of the week, in addition to time & date on the taskbar.
Haven't found one yet, which is surprising. Anyone know of one that'd work on Titanium WM 6.5, or can create one?
I'd also like to be able to put the day of the week on the cclock panel on the Today screen, or else have a separate panel that shows time, date, day of week.
Now, I know you can alter the .cpr file, BUT unfortunately I'm not a developer, and don't know what to put in the Titanium xxxx.cpr's at the various resolutions. Also, I'm rather nervous about experimenting here, since these files are in the ROM, and if I screw up my phone in the process, my warranty may be voided.
So, to make a long story short, I'd just like to be able to install another panel, or whatever, something like a Titanium plugin, like notifications, that I can install/uninstall w/o touching the ROM.
Again, I'm rather surprised there isn't anything like these apps to place the day of the week on the taskbar & Today screen. And leave it to MSFT to leave something like this out, ESP since they had it for the previous WM OS's. 8(
Well, that's why I'm posting here. The Xda forum is an invaluable resource, and I've learned a lot lurking and reading thru some of the incredibly long threads.
Any help for my 2 requests would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
No response?
I'm surprised there isn't any response or interest.
Well, I found battclock, Zuinige's excellent program, to take care of the day on
the taskbar, but nothing for on the Titanium Today screen.
There is canalog clock, but it's way too big fot my blackberry sized screen on my wm samsung intrepid.
I was hoping someone would have some suggestions, or maybe develop a cclock panel alternative not as huge as canalog, or digital like cclock with thday and date thrown in.
I found coding suggestions for modifying the titanium.cpr, but they're all different and 2 are for the Hero, so that's a deadend.
I know there are a lot of developers on this board; I'm just surprised no one's come up with an "enhanced" cclock.
Anyway, just a request, if anyone'd care to help. Thanks

I believe that a piece of software available on these very forums called "Re-Remind" should be what you are after!!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=498161
phoneAlarm
check out phoneAlarm (http://www.pocketmax.net) -- everything you need and more...
I use S2U2, works fine!
tested
one day of testing
ReRemind - remidners are not working, problems with unistalling (programmer whos leaving starting icon in windows startmenu after unistalling process, probably made more mistakes inside program code)
s2u2 - slows device, to big app for such simple functions
PhoneAlarm (trial) - vibration reminders works quite well, but freezes system when phone in lock mode, program have good function like notify for instant messaging
thats it, no more programs for reminding?
best regards
g-profile
Another solution.
Do not affect system speed. Nice looking. Vibration remiders works how it shoulds on factory sofware. Unfortunately app is not freeware, but price is affordable (5eur).
Only one function is missing. Reminders for IM like in PhoneAlarm.
Any idea how to force Parlingo to:
1. flash LED when message recieved
2. work with g-profile (registry hack?) using vibra-reminders?
I have gone through this thread and cleaned up the off-topic posts. A reminder that members have two options when visiting a thread:
Option 1
Responding with helpful and constructive information as opposed to "use the search", "try Google", etc.
Option 2
Move on. There is absolutely no reason to respond in a rude tone or to make someone feel stupid ... it is not constructive and serves no purpose.
There seems to be a significant amount of animosity of late in the HD2 related forums. I'm not certain as to why this is, nor do I want to hear any reason for justification; what I do know is that it is unacceptable.
XDA is about bringing together folks who have similar passions about mobile technology. As the forum is accessed worldwide, you will encounter all types of folks from different walks of life; some of these folks will be extremely technical, others not. In all cases, it is the responsibility of all members to remain respectful of one another. We all have different opinions, we do not all have the same level of knowledge, and some folks are looking to feel like they are learning while trying to contribute.
If this thread is reported once more, I will be looking to suspend the accounts of all members who post off-topic comments. I would remind members that the best moderation is self-moderation.
