Need help unlocking a phone.....

I just bought a cheap att android phone. Its the prepaid zte avail. I called att for an unlock code, and they said prepaid phones are not unlockeable. Anyone know if this is true? Thanks.
All phones are unlock-able, if could possibly specify your phone in more detail, then I could find a cheap site for you
It is a zte avail. Model z990. Thanks.
Figured it out.........
I have the same problem
You said you figured it out, what did you do, I have the same problem with my at&t avail.
I was trying to unlock it to port my number to straight talk. For that there is no need. So i didn't ever get it unlocked, but didnt need to.

Cheapest place to unlock HTC One X (Rogers)

I tried searching for reputable sites to do this but cannot find any. Should any eBay listing do? ($2-3).
Is there a way to unlock and check if the phone is unlocked without having another SIM? I want to do this for proactive purposes before my trip and do not have access to another carrier's microSIM.
You need another carrier's sim unfortunately. At least that's what others have said.
Sent from my HTC One XL
I guess I will have to take my chances with the unlock code and keep it in hand until I get another SIM card, was thinking it was as simple as unlocking a BlackBerry.

[Q] SIM Unlock HTC Desire S

Hi, so I bought an HTC Desire S and it's locked to Orange UK. I S-OFFed and tried sieempi's method but it's still network locked. Is there any generator or tweak like the HTC Desire/Sensation to get the code? It's urgent as this is my new personal smartphone.
Thanks in advance

Urgent? No it's not. On Christmas day nothing is really urgent.
You can either ask your current network provider for the unlock code (may have to pay them) or get hold of an XTC-Clip (Buy, rent, shop ...) and definitely have to pay.
There is no software method for network unlock on the Desire S.
There's a xtc-clip page on xda with members that have access to them
This Christmas I've decided to put a mistletoe in my back pocket....so all the people I dont like can kiss my ass.

But there must be a unlock code somewhere in those mmcblk blocks, like on the One S, Desire (bravo) and the Sensation, why wouldn't there by any on the Desire S? HTC must have hidden it somewhere... Any guess?
Here's a guess: this phone is out for almost a couple of years now, and if the way to unlock it was so simple that a noob could guess it - I guess it would have been unlockable by now.
You can, of course, read and learn how SIM unlock is done on the other "sister" phones (G2/DZ/DHD/MT4G), and what's preventing DS from having the same treatment, and what's needed to make it work. But something tells me that you won't do that.

[Completed] HTC One X - network unlock hack needed

Hi,
I am in the UK and have an HTC One X currently locked to T-Mobile. Would like to unlock it to all networks. Have tried a number of phone unlock shops but none can unlock it. T-Mobile provides the code for £20. However, looking at the internet, it seems many people have had problems with getting unlock codes from t-mobile even after paying £20. Anyone know of a hack that will network unlock the HTC One X.
Many Thanks

HTC One A9, Can I use an Unlock Code?

Hi,
I'd like to purchase a HTC One A9 for the girlfriend, can I purchase a locked A9 on the "Boost" network and unlock the phone using one of those unlock codes that some sites sell?
Some are really cheap, I just don't know if its legitimate, will it work? will there be any drawbacks or hassle, or do you advise I just buy an unlocked version? (Bare in mind if I did this I'd be paying upwards of £50 extra)
+ If I use an unlock code, do I need to do anything to receive OTA updates from HTC opposed to Sprint/Boost?
Thanks :fingers-crossed:
