Removing ATT Bloatware on LG Incite - General Questions and Answers

Can someone help me get rid of these useless java programs and some of the att software?
I know there are instructions for the Tilt and the Fuze but I'm not sure or have yet to hear anyone that's had success on non-HTC devices with their methods.

How can we do it ?

To Clarify
How do I remove these ATT bloatware...
I see it here http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=TiltSpecificWikiPage
but there's another thread too but I can't seem to find it.
BUT my big question is, is this the way to do it or do I have to do it differently???

To add another evidence that this can happen...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=459335&highlight=bloatware
But does this work for any windows mobile device on ATT network?

I have done it easily on Moto Q9h but I needed EnableRAPI to accomplish that but it seems that the same XML file doesn't work on the LG Incite, if anyone can get me an EnableRAPI configuration that makes the registry accessible, then I can go ahead and do this for the Incite and share.

Registry
Why couldn't you just access the registry with a program like CERegEdit or Resco Explorer? I tried to remove it via the reset before the customization program(ala the ATT FUZE), however when I hard reset my Incite it didn't reset the ROM(like my TYTN does), all it did was clear the memory.

btw how do you like your incite?

(from O2 XDA Zinc) wireless today plugin that shows data status

I came across, on another forum, a today plugin pic.
The poster in fact, was posting the cabs for activating VoIP on Wm6 roms.
Cabs mostly from Xda.
But what impressed me the most, was a capture of his today screen.
He has the regular 'wireless' plugin showing the status and name of the three typical connexions: GSM, Bluetooth and Wifi.
But his plugin was showing also the status of his DATA connexion.
(I guess GPRS, EDGE, HSPDA etc.)
Any one knows where I could find the cab or the registry tweak to add this feature to the basic wireless plugin?
OK I finally got more informations, it's part of a today plugin and commanager from O2 XDA Zinc.
Any one who have access to this phone could help providing the following?
- Which registry values are present on that phone in this area:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Today\Items\"Wireless"]
- has any one got the installation cab of that plugin?
It would be great to see the _setup.xml file, maybe the tweak is there
- any one can send me the "netui.dll" in the windows directory of that phone, so I can try to run it see if that helps showing the 'data connexion status'?
Cheers
Well, 64 viewers and still no one knows about it?
1) has any one seen this wireless today plugin before?
2) has any one used it before?
3) does any one know about a registry tweak, a cab or a dll that displays this additional data connexion status?
I have it on my TyTN...sorta.
It looks just like yours with the WiFi and Blutooth, but not the Data part of it.
The registry tweak is documented in the Wiki. That's where I found it
You did not get my point
Thanks for the reply, I thought every one got scared away by the question...
Yes, I already know the registry tweaks and I also got the cab for what I called the regular/typical wireless plugin (operator name, wifi status, bluetooth status).
My point is: how about the DATA status (gprs, edge, 3G)?
Does any one know how to add this fourth information into the wireless plugin?
I updated the first post and the title with new informations
Its all about the O2 XDA Zinc phone
Could some one be kind enough to provide the following informations:
- Which registry values are present on that phone in this area:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Today\Items\ "Wireless"]
- has any one got the installation cab of that plugin?
It would be great to see the _setup.xml file, maybe the tweak is there
- any one can send me the "netui.dll" in the windows directory of that phone, so I can try to run it see if that helps showing the 'data connexion status'?

This is actually a very intersting find. Data indicator is what always turned me away from that plugin. It'd be very interesting to find out more, unfortunatley a lot of Googeling got me nowhere and without the device in possession I feel like I have not much more to offer.
Anyone else?
//Nik
Yeah, I made some more findings, thanks to the guy the screen-shot came from...
The registry keys seem to be quite similiar EXCEPT the fact that this wireless plugin doesn't use netui.dll, it uses a dll called: WirelessManagerToday.dll
I put that dll onto my system and tried to get i working but it didn't.
It did not give me any error, but it just displayed nothing...
So what we need now, it's an installation cab of the O2 Xda Zinc Wireless Manager or something like that, to see if there is another file involved in this process (an .exe file or whatever)
And to know if there are other settings apart that registry link to that particular dll.
Any one using O2 phone can answer?
hi there fancy meeting u here
the thing is o2 zinc comm manager is different from HTC one ... as the attachment below. Also a shot of the dll ... the string value of the dll show a Wireless Manager. Zip file contains the WManager.exe & also the dll
Hope this help
Hi mate.
The world is not that wide, when we use the same nick everywhere!
;-)
I tried to send you a mail with some useful stuffs to unlock your extendedrom, but every mail failed, maybe a problem of anti-spam filter.
I post here below the applications from this site and others. Give it a try...
cheers mate
well i ll try this one ... sad to hear that u cant use the plugin yet ... keep trying mate
BTW o2 zinc is made by Asus ... not sure if a htc unlocker can unlock the ext rom ...
Hope you can unlock your extended ROM and find some useful cab related to the Wireless Manager install.
I don't like to give up, but the fact is I don't know toward which direction make the next move...
When you have time, would you make some automatic search in your registry to make sure there is no other references to those dll and exe or maybe some other components of the whole wireless system. Thanks.
Yeah, I know the manufacturer is different, but It's still the same Windows Mobile system, there might be some bridges between them.
Cheers
i only have the update rom frm o2 only now ... i cant extract the exe file ... it only show error ... maybe you can teach me how to do a rom dump maybe than it can be some help to you
i have tried compiling a cab file with both dll & the registry using wince cab manager ... hope it can work
:fingercross:

Not sure where else to look...Tilt/Pantech Duo question

So I swapped the iPhone for the Tilt, and so far so good. But now I have a questions about my wifes Pantech Duo.
It also uses Windows Mobile 6, but it is full of ATT bloatware, and is slow, locks up and freezes from time to time, and sometimes she has to reset the phone because it doesn't show her contacts, pictures etc...
I have searched all over the internet, and the only thing I can find that even relates to the phone, is a program that makes the slider actually work the phone when you slide it up and close it.
Any help would be fantastic as my wife is all over me lol...
thanks in advance,
memnoch
Hard reset & then soft reset as soon as the "The device will customize in three seconds" appears. Also check out SK Tools. You can do several performance tweaks & it's UI is pretty easy to understand.
Can't find the soft reset

Hrm...well I don't see a soft reset anywhere on the Pantech Duo, and I just did the hard reset, and it never went through the same customization setup that my tilt did, and all the bloat ware is still there
there is no reset button on it. its running a smartphone os your pretty much stuck with the rom on it intil some cooks one
There are quite a few differences between how WM6 Pro (Kaiser) works and how WM6 Standard (Duo) works.
I would recommend that you check out some of the Smartphone threads on this forum. Here are some things that you should look at doing.
1) Application Unlock your device (allows unsigned program installs, System Files and Registry changes, ect...) Search for a smartphone Application Unlock cab.
2) Look in the Windows\Start Up\ folder and delete any unnecessary start up apps (I couldn't tell you what to delete without looking at what is in there)
3) Delete unnecessary things from start menu (Windows\Start Menu\) This won't improve the speed but it will reduce clutter
Check out http://howardforums.com/showthread.php?t=1267636 for more info on the Duo.
Hope that helps.

This link is for the security configuration manager for windows mobile 5, but I used this and changed the policy to unlocked, and it worked fine as an application unlocker on the Duo. Still looking for a cooked ROM, but guess you can't have everything.

Making the Fuze run faster/smoother...WITHOUT a custom ROM?

So i purchased my Fuze on Monday, and its my first WM device.
Overall its a great device and i like it more than my iPhone.
Ive been recently trying to customize it and ive downloaded nice TF3D themes, and done some registry editting to change the sliding sound.
What i want to know is if there is another way to make the Fuze run and perform alot faster than how it runs out of the Box.
I did some of the performance TWEAKS that i found on a Touch Pro thread. and that worked. But is their anything else that you guys would recommend? Maybe deleting unused programs? or idk.
I dont really like, that there is some Lag when switching thru the tabs in TF3d, and the long waits for opening programs.
Mind you, that i dont want to go through the effort of installing a new ROM. Mainly because of the fact that i cant seem to find a perfectly good, tutorial on how to do this.
Thanks
1. Get rid of the bloat by doing a hard reset and then doing a soft reset as soon as you "press the screen to use the device"
Frees up a mega crap-load of memory and you dont have to deal with stupid software ATT tries to sell you.
2. Install Advanced Config 3.3
Increase system memory, enable HSDPA and some other features I cant remember)
3. Install Sushi's Diamond TF3D Config
You can edit TF3D all you want (tabs, programs,order,ect..)

I dont think i can do this anymore since i already turned on the phone, and i didnt get to do that when i FIRST booted it up...or is this still possible now?

I installed advanced config, and did some of the tweaks on another thread, but how do i "increase system memory" and wat would HSDPA do to my phones overall speed? or is that just internet speed?

1. You can hard reset and do it at that point.
2. HSDPA will not increase overall speed but it will improve internet.
Ok...having a slight problem finding what I'm looking for, but it looks like it might have been touched upon here, WITHOUT an answer for what I'm looking for.

Having had many different PPC phones, I knew from the getgo not to allow the customization to run. The problem with this is, the TF3D application is NOT installed before the customization, but is actually bundled WITH the customization.
I contacted HTC and AT&T about getting the software seperately...needless to say, sorry, we can't help you...reset and install the customization!!
So, what I am looking for, is the TF3D software for the phone, or someway to unlock it from the phone (if possible)?

I posted how to get the TF3D to work without the customization in the Fuze How to skip the bloat thread. You have to open the windows directory with file explorer and install 3 cabs. Cant remember the names at this moment.
Heres the post
Wait...so let me try and understand this...
If one is to do a HARD RESET, and then do a Soft Reset when the "press the screen to use the device" pops up. Then TF3D will not be installed? and will have to be installed separately?!

Thank you! This is my first time using TF3D. I've seen the options to install the custom ones on my Tilt, etc, but never felt brave enough to get that in depth with it.

Correct....because AT&T LOVES to push useless crap on you hoping that you will click on the application and get hooked from there!

No you just have to add the reg cab in the windows directory. See my previous post in this thread.

About hard reset and Interface programs

Hi, I'm pretty much a noob to this forum as you can see from my number of posts.
Recently got a HTC Iolite and been reading the forums, there are some things that I wasn't able to find, so I thought I'd just ask about it here.
Programs affecting interface
Currently I have the following installed, QM2.8, M2DC, PHM reg editor, Touchflo of course, I'm planning to try out SPB Pocket Pack and SPB Mobile Shell.
Here comes the confusing part, what's the difference between each of these? Which programs are a complete overlap? I read somewhere that SPB Pocket Pack and MS can complement each other, but for TF and MS, it's either TF or MS and not both together. Any advice on this would be greatly appreciated!
About Hard Reset
I recently had a service.exe error after a soft reset. But it only happened once, I'm wondering whether it might have been caused by the installation of M2DC. So, I'm thinking of doing a hard reset. However, I do have some concerns. I have PAPAGO X3 installed when I first bought my Iolite. Upon doing a hard reset, will it remove PAPAGO as well?
What about programs that I installed on my storage card? What happens to it upon a hard reset? I'm sure it will have to be reinstalled, but what about the space it occupies on the storage card? Do I need to remove them as well, in other words, uninstall them first then do a hard reset?
Having said all that, I'm not particularly too concerned about the services.exe issue, since it's only happened once.
Appreciate any advice I can get! Sorry if some of these questions have been addressed in the forums, perhaps someone could direct me to the respective places?
hardreset return your device to how it was the first time you ever started it up
any program you installed after this will be gon untill you reinstall them
hardreset will not of cause change any programs located on the sdcard
but if any of those programs require dll's to be placed on the main device
or require some reg keys to be placed in the registry
then they too will require a reinstall

Does that mean that if the programs do not require dll's to be placed on the main device, I will still be able to find it immediately after a hard reset?

WModem doesn't work with Sprint TP2 Stock 6.5 ROM?

So I've been using WModem with my Titan and TP. Just got a new TP2 recently with stock 6.5 rom.
To my surprise and extreme frustration, I couldn't get Wmodem to work on it even after spending like a whole day installing various cab (ICS and WModem fix. cab, etc) and registry. When I hit connect on my computer, it seems to stuck at the verifying username and pass. There is some sort of data connection going on the TP2 but the computer itself can't connect. I;ve tried on both xp and win7 computers, both of which worked with my tp1 with wm 6.1
Is there something that sprint add to the registry or inside the rom that preventing this from working? It can't just be that wm6.5 itself is the culprit since I think other people with custom 6.5 rom Tp2 been able to connect with WModem.
If anyone knows how to get Wmodem to work with Sprint TP2 with stock 6.5 rom, much appreciate your help. Thanks.
I know most people use ICS but I really have to use Wmodem since it's the only thing that been working good with my workplace firewall and VPN.
Sprint is really pissing me off now. I been with them since 03. If wasn't for what i been able to do with my sprint phones and SERO and all the customizations, I would have dropped them instantly a long time ago.
update: got it working... Just need a newer ver of wmodem
Here's Wmodem 2.59 straight out of Verizon stock 6.5 rom , much much thanks to Razorloves.
Copy the files to /windows. Make the usual tether reg changes. and tether away with non NAT ip
Here's the cab file so you can easily install and uninstall. I believe the necessary reg changes for wmodem tethering also included but just check after you install to make sure.... Once again much thanx and credit to razorloves for creating the cab file
