Im imforming you! - Touch Pro, Fuze General

Whenever You Backup Your Registry Don't Use Any Passwords On Your Phone While You Back It Up. Because After A Hard Reset And A Backup Restore It Will Prompt For Last Password But Even If You Know It, It Won't Work.
I Found This Out After 3 Hard-Resets In A Row. I Realized It After Restoring The Reg Then Turning Off The Screen.
So Remember, Do Not Back-Up Your Registry While You Have A Password On Your Phone. =]

Can not restore my backup.stg file on a S100

Need help. I`m going crazy for last 3 months!!! Needed to send my S100 for repair and did a backup. when got it back and tried to restore backup.stg file goes almost until the end, but.... then does not load 4 dll and some databases that I think are from from the outlook. I have set the Regional Settings as previously, but does not work. The fact is that I have everything back except all my telephone numbers and outlook contacts that I have collected for the last 3 years!!!
NEED HELP!!! Thank anybody!! ??
I think I had the same problem months ago. I assume you get some error about files/databases being in in use/locked.
My suggestion is you get a copy of SPB Pocket Plus (trial will do) & activate the safemode option. This means that if your device softresets twice within 30 secs. it will offer to boot in safemode & that's what you want in this case. So softreset your device twice within those 30 secs & go into safemode. Now restore your PIM data etc. Shouldn't be a problem now.
Pls respond if this works cause I didn't try (just didn't knew then) & I did loose my data at that time. Now I use Sprite Backup which is much much better.
Succes, M
Thanks oltp for the reply. I am afraid but that did not work!! when I try to restore the backup.stg file from the S100 using the xBackup option the start button doesn`t even come activ! If I try to restore from ActiveSync>Tools>Backup/Restore and then I click "Restore Now" it comes with a message like this: "the selected backup file is not valid. Please select another storage file".
Can you help me?
I'm very afraid I can't help you then with xBackup. Did you ever synced all contacts & appointments with Outlook, so you can sync. them back to your device?
Don't delete your file right now, maybe I can experiment a little with xBackup today & work something out. No promises though.
Best advice, too late of course, use Sprite Backup next time.
Regards, M
Once again thanks for your effort oltp. I`d appreciate you could work out something as I also lost the backup file that I had fm the outlook. I rely completely on you.

What does hard reset

May be a stupid question, but because of my GPS lag, I'd like to try and do a hard reset of my device (risking that my extremely fast fix (<10 sec) is gone).
But now I'm hesitating because of the following:
Does a hard reset also change the registry back to the stock version?
Further I assume that:
- My storage card remains intact (all files stay there) and
- if I make a back up all my contacts, e-mail settings, Opera favorites etc etc etc will be saved and I can restore them (from the storage card)
- all my personal installed programs are restored from a back up
- registry will not be restored from the back up
Hard reset takes the device back to factory settings, compketeky wiping it out. Your storage card will be fine. Backing up your PIM info is no problem and restoring that should have no effect on how your device operates. If you make a backup of your entire device and then restore it, you will most likely still be having whatever problems you had before as it does restore everything under normal circumstances, even the registry.
If you're having issues, the best thing to do is backup PIM info only and just reinstall everything after the hard reset. Plus, if you put a new rom on your phone, that's the safest method anyway.

JF unlock screen broken?

A friend of mine was playing with my phone and got it so that I have to type in my email/password, and now it isn't unlocking. I have tried at least 50 times.
I even reset my gmail password and it still has not worked.
Can anyone help me? I created a nandroid backup so is there a way to disable that then back up from it?

Unable to save change to "Phone as modem" key value

I am trying to change the "Phone as modem" value to "Sprint" found in hklm-comm-internetsharing-settings
I tried phm regedit, and resco explorer registry editor on the phone, then I tried mobile registry editor 1.1 on the desktop pc that remotely edits the phones registry, I also tried CERegeditor that is on the Desktop to remotely edit, and another one that allows you to "unlock" the registry like CE before editing (But none of them work. I tried all of the below with every single editor). I am using soft reset 1.1 and or the soft reset button.
I read that you have to wait a minute with wm5 and wm6 for it to save properly then soft reset and it will save.
I have made the edit, exit the program and reset, reverts to old setting. I tried to make the change and stay in the program for several minutes, then reset, reverts to old setting.
I tried deleting the key, waiting each way resetting, bam the old key pops back up.
I have tried every combination for every length of time up to including waiting several hours before the reset with the program open and then with it closed, and still after the reset, bam the original is back.
I even tried hard resetting the phone thinking maybe something installed keeping me from editing the registry, but nope.
I also tired the cab tethering fix files I have found....nope, still shows "Phone as Modem" in the key value
I even just tried reloading the rom from HTC to see if thats why I could not edit, maybe my version was messed up some how.
Nope, still cannot get it to save the "Sprint" value.
Please help, any ideas?
Anyone have any ideas on this? Or has this been the case for anyone else?

restore data after hard reset

hi
i tried some registry tweaks on my nike, because no alternative keybord worked. But after a soft reset my phone allways stops booting while shwing the startscrenn with Rominformation.
Can a edit the registry or do i have to make a hardreset. if i have to do a hardreset: Is it possible to restore the Data after a hardrestet (e.g. the contactlist or the sms)
thx
JonnyX
just do the hard reset and then do a full restore w/ Sprite or SPB or whatever you backed the device up with before you started messing with the registry.
definitely a better idea to back up your stuff first before beginning to mess with anything. try the my phone back up or search for a backup application before you do a hard reset next time.
