Windows Media Player for WinCE 5.0 - General Questions and Answers

Hello,
I'm using a PNA navigation system based on WinCE 5.0 wich I customized to run TCPMP.
Due to the tiny buttons and the difficulty to browse playlists etc., I am looking for a decent media player that can be used with my fingers or a skin for TCPMP.
Does anyone know where I can find such piece of software?
tnx

Nope, it's not only for windows... you can find a pocketpc download here:
http://corecodec.org/frs/?group_id=53&release_id=225#r225
It's also the only player for pocketpc with decent h.264 playback...
Tried before
Tried this before, nice player for videos, but never got the streaming over bluetooth to activate like it does automatically when paired and using pocket windows mobile.
Tried all latest codecs no joy.
Will try latest program version and downloads.
streeming is not a player issue if the os dont support the bluetooth A2DP profile
pretty sure even wm2005 dont
It works fine from windows pocket media
just want the sound from tcpmp to come out the same way over my headphones , wireless
GDawes: I don't get it. You're talking about both the Magician and WM5? Which one are you using?
To use A2DP on the magician, you need to install a new Bluetooth stack. Check out my app VJVolubilis here, which may help you out, and alternatively, read Chatty's post towards the end (as of now)

Audio Player Visualizations?

Is there a way to get the WMP on my Artemis to display visualizations (like the pc version does) when playing audio files?
If not, are there any other programs which can do it?
Use pocket player to get visualisations. WMP mobile does not support them

skins on samsung epix

Help....
questions from a newb. Have a samsung epix and cannot install any media player skins. have had a treo 750 previously and was able to install skins on media player ok. I load the entire skin folder into the windows media player program folder, but when I go into the options menu in media player it will not find the skins I installed. It only finds the default player skin and the samsung skin. If I go to file explorer and look in media player folder, all the skin files and folders are there. Is this and win mo 6.0 vs win mo 6.1 issue, or am I just not doing something correctly???
Any help is appreciated, windows media player buttons are too small to operate!!!
i think its because of the screen maybe, its 320x320 and its incompatible with alot of things

Compatible media players.

Hello. I've been trying out different media players on my XDA flint (X7510) which currently has the stock O2 ROM, and have had varying levels of success. Most of this post is about playing video files of verying format (.mpg .mpeg .avi etc)
TCPMP: I used this exclusively on my XDA Exec and rarely had any problems, but it seems to crash on many of my mpg files on the Flint. I've tried the original 0.72 cab, the 0.81 (which I don't think is official) and the 0.72RC1-recomp-03 cab which seems to work well on other WM6.1 devices. Of all these the 0.72 cab is the only one which will actually load.
Core player: From the same developers as TCPMP, this is their commercial app. It loads ok but I personally find the GUI ugly and confusing, the TCPMP interface is much cleaner and user friendly. Again, this app won't play all of the video files I've tried, so I guess more work is needed with codecs?
Pocket Player: This apps GUI is quite nice and navigation to files is easy with many helpful (anf finger friendly) menus to select content. Again, it couldn't play all of the media files I threw at it, but it didn't crash at all.
Summary.
I'm either going to have to convert any video files into a compatible format before watching on my Flint (which means I'm still not free of the PC) or keep searching for a truly versatile player...any suggestions?
Phil.

Pocket Player does not work on my x7510 at all. It kills all sound from the device and I must uninstall and soft-reset the device to even be able to hear any sound from other players (like WMPlayer or Core Player). I have installed and uninstalled it 4 times and the same thing happened each time.

Media Player 10 Probs

Hi folks,
I've been trying a couple of ROMs to breathe new life into my old Tornado Noble, but have run into a problem with Media Player 10. Same issue on WM6 Platinum SP1 and Gregory's 6.5.
Some music tracks just will not play. I used the desktop media player to sync them (all mp3) with no issues, i've tried re-coding them to 128Kbps, and copying them over, but the same tracks just give an error. They play fine on all the PPC versions of media player mobile, just not on this smartphone version.
Any ideas?
Thanks for any pointers!
*I re-coded to WMA128k and everything plays, which i'll use as a workaround. But, i'd still like to find out why MP10 has difficulties with some mp3s and not others (same album).

perhaps it is because the source filter for WMP was not loading properly! you try it with this application, maybe it can fix and do too little change in the registry like this -> [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\MediaPlayer\ UIPlugins\{D7D08B8C-E755-4fa9-8E79-139FA379E00E}]
"FriendlyName"="HTC WMP Control Plug-in"
"Description"="HTC WMP Control Plug-in"
"Capabilities"=dword:0 --> change it to = 1
after that soft reset your device....
Thanks for the effort Hakim, but that didn't help. WMP just seems determined not to like mp3s.

Really? then you should try to use the application free MP3/MP4/M4A/AAC/WMA/WAV/M3U/PLS/ASX v0.83 S2P player. It simply lets you browse your music files play &. It is fully integrated with S2U2; & supports A2DP AVRCP &.
go to http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=556885 to get it
Not sure if S2P (Slide to Play) will work on a smartphone without touchscreen. You may wish wish to check out tcpmp as well. Commercial products are also Coreplayer or PocketPlayer.
There may also be something weird with these special MP3 that don't work. Can you find anything in common for those that do not work? Lookup some mp3 checker program with Google. You could also upload a faulty track here (or at mediafire or alike) so we can check that with our devices/ROMs?
