Searching - feature request

Searching at present is limited to either forum category when you are sat in a particular phone forum or all forums/All phones, you can select your device in advanced search in all forums but the list is verrrry long and this is a pain. Would it not be better to have the all forum search to default into whatever phone forum you are sat in with a totally separate box for a full forum search, how often does anyone search all forums anyway?. That would allow you to Search in all categories in a phone forum at once, instead of having to go into each category and do separate search inGENERAL / QA/DEV etc. Often the answer you are looking for is in a ROM page and not in the QA or GENERAL.

[Completed] Few Questions related to this site.

I have installed the XDA aPP to be able to browse this forums quickly on my note 3.
But.. How can i re-arrange the list of visible forums..
there are lot of forums which I do not want to see in the search results as well while browsing.
Is it possible to delete/hide some forums, so those do not come into search results when searching and also not listed.
This option should be better for advanced users. :good:
Hi,
Just subscribe to the sections and threads you do want to follow, and only those will appear in the subscription tab in the app. ?

[Completed] Sort items by date, last update, author...?

I just got a Nexus 5, so i will use this link. http://forum.xda-developers.com/google-nexus-5#romList
When you look at the list, you have to search through all the list to identify what rom has been updated lately. Why can't we have that option. Most forums has this option by default, and on a site with such crucial information, i wonder how is this not there.
Or am i missing anything? :/
I am sure, i am in the wrong, and maybe i have overlooked something. ANNND maybe my post will be moved to a different section of the forum. It happens a lot. :/

You didn't mention which tool you used to access the page to which you are referring, but with a traditional web browser, you should be able to click on the "Last Updated" column header to force sorting by date. Clicking again on that same header will toggle between ascending and descending sort.
The same approach is available for "Name", "Device", "Contributors", "Review Average", and "Followers" to select the sort criterion, as it is for all similar tables on XDA.
I hope this answers your question. If you need more information feel free to search the site.

@SebLemery:
This thread has been re-opened based on the additional information you shared via PM. If you do not even see the up and down arrows in the table headers, please try other browsers and especially other themes. Specifically, if you're currently under XDA 2015, temporarily switch to XDA 2013 or XDA 2013-1024 and if the arrows magically appear, report the problem in the http://forum.xda-developers.com/general/about-xda/official-xda-2015-forum-template-bugs-t2887442 thread.

[Completed] Support for the official XDA forum app?

Hi,
I am looking for the right place to get support for the official XDA developer app on android.
I could not identify where I can get this here on the site.
I looked here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/apps
and here: http://www.xda-developers.com/xda-android-app/
but neither provided a clear location where to ask questions about the app.
My question is how to add favorite forums/threads in the app (or on the web for that matter). There is a heart symbol on top the the app screen and I have no idea how to use that.
thanks!

Hello and thank you for using XDA Assist.
You can subscribe to any forum or thread. To do that from the mobile app, simply click on the start (or heart) symbol that appears on the status bar while you're viewing that forum or thread, or long-press on the thread/forum name and select "subscribe" from the menu.. To view your subscribed threads from a browser, go to http://forum.xda-developers.com/subscription.php. For each subscription, you can select various options such as whether you want to be informed of new post by email weekly, daily, immediately or not at all. If you select not to be notified, the subscribed threads/forums become a list of "favorites" to which you can refer quickly. For matters dealing with the xda-developers.com site or any of it components and tools, visit the "About xda-developers.com" forum at http://forum.xda-developers.com/general/about-xda. If you have specific questions about the XDA Android Apps, ask in the "XDA Android App - Problems / Bugs / Feature Requests etc." thread there at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=841646.
Good luck!
Thanks for the reply & help! I was not aware that "favorites" = "subscriptions". I was looking for another button to make a forum a favorite. It's clear now.

XDA doesn't add every device to its list of devices to add to your profile. I have many devices that aren't available to add to my profile, over the years I've accepted this.
You might be able to send a request to the Moderators here to add the device you want.
@VoidRoamer @Droidriven
Moderators are not empowered to create new device forums and it is the Admins who have the power. Please make a request HERE. Whether the device is popular, are there multiple threads relating to it, whether development is taking place on XDA for the device etc are some of the parameters that count in the decision.
