Hello, all, I have this strange problem. When I send a file over bluetooth from my PC to my WM device the file is received without any notification or paring request. The same happens when I send a file from SE K850 phone - no pairing prompt, the file is stored in /My documents folder and no notification is shown.
My pocket pc is asus p552w, it is set to receive all incoming beams and is visible for all.
How do I make it ask for pairing?
Thank you.
there should be a security setting in the beam settings to alter ht esettings
as for a mor advanced notification use Obex inbox
Thanks for the advice jayjay,
however Obex inbox did not solve the problem.
And here is something really interesting - this happens only when I am sending image files (.jpg, .bmp, etc..) On other file types the device pops up a propmt for pairing, but for images there is nothing!
Hey, guys, any ideas on this one?
try moBlue 2.1
@nir36 I tried moBliue and ObexInboxEx and they both did not help. When sening pictures from my PC to my PDA there is no notification, for other file types a pairing dialog pops up.
Anyway, I dug up the net and it seems that moBlue and ObexInboxEx actually do not handle these type of transfers. They only handle obex pushes, and this, I thik is some ftp type of transfer which is handled natively by the MS bluetooth stack.
What is strange, though, is that this only happens on pictures! I am thinking that maybe there is some registry setting for this specific file type....

Hi,
I've just converted from p900 to my new exciting xda2i, so please for give me.
How do i send a picture via bluetooth, bluetooth is on but when i go to tools it only gives me an option of sending it by email or beam?
hope you can help
if u have bluetooth turned on, open up the file explorer that came on the phone, then locate the picture in there and tap and hold it, it will then come up with some oprion, one of them being "beam file" then tap that, at the totp it will say send via ir and below as it find them a list of bluetooth devicecs will show up
hope this helps
Some pocket PC devices like Blue Angle had the problem that the beam option did not return any BT devices to beam to. BT build 3900 should solve that. Otherwise Resco File Explorer is a good way to do it.
I'm sure there is a simple answer to this, but I haven't been able to find it.
I am trying to transfer a ringtone via Bluetooth from my Krzr to my new Fuze, and I can't get it to work. The devices pair without any problem, but when I try to send the ringtone, I get a failed message. This is not a copy-protected ringtone - it's just a music file I created. Is there some trick to this? There are work-arounds (transfer the file to the computer and then to the Fuze), but it is annoying and seems like it should be easy to do.
Did you turn on the Beam function on the Fuze? It's in the Comm Manager.

Click to collapse
I did. It didn't help.
Strangely, I can send files from the Fuze to the Krzr without a problem. But the Krzr can't send anything in reverse.
I haven't tried a phone to phone transfer yet, so not sure what else to advise. I know it works from computer to phone using bluetooth.
from my experience the bluetooth on this phone is absolutely terrible. itll connect just fine to my headset. but, i cannot for the life of me sync it up with my phone. bluetooth tethering is near impossible with all 3 of my bluetooth enabled laptops, as well as bluetooth activesync.
Go under Bluetooth settings under Comm Manager go to FTP Enable File Sharing and then go to security and turn off Authentication (Passkey) Required. You can keep Authentication on with another smart phone but when I wanted to send files from my LG non smart phone I had to turn it off.
I tried all the suggestions above, but with no luck. It's not the end of the world - the Bluetooth works with my headset, transferring files to/from the computer, and for tethering. It's more annoying than anything else, because there's no reason it shouldn't work.
Hello,
i was trying to copy certain files from my laptop to phone via bluetooth but could just not get it all working. I have BT turned on (both devices), they manage to connect via rather cumbersome set of dialogues (on laptop) but then I can only explore "services" on the device, whatever that is....
How do I send a file from lets say laptop desktop to the phone? And where can I locate it on the phone?
Thank you !
If you can explore services try looking for Bluetooth file transer service. It should open up the bluetooth shared folder which is common to both your phone and the computer. Drag and drop items from your phone or computer onto this folder and you should see them on either device. Default location of the bluetooth shared folder on your phone should be under my documents.
Thank you, will try that tomorrow back at the office
If you are using Vista, turning user account control off might help.
Mine is working now.
I gave up trying, too. Never have had any success with HTC phones, but SE phones always worked. Go figure.
Instead, I have networked/mapped my desired drives (with Resco File Explorer) of my laptop and desktop systems with the Fuze and and transfer files via WiFi that way. Works great and is fast.
Have you tried checking the box "receive all incoming beams"? It is located under settings and then the connections tab. Once there click on the Beam icon and make sure that box is checked. I couldn't send any files form my laptop to my phone until that was checked off.
how can i sync and transfer to and fro my tp2 and mac book pro?
thanks guys
If you have snow leopard, its supposed to have activesync.
If you're still on an older OS, there is a ($40) program called missing sync.
What I did is went the totally free route and bounced contacts through google. First enable addressbook to sync to google, then have phone sync to google. I've only tried it with contacts, its supposed to be able to do email and calendar from google to phone as well.
OBEX push also works from my hackintosh to the phone, but not in reverse for files.
The sync app in sl doesn't work. Already tried. Nothing on mac works. I want to transfer files etc from tp2 to mac and nothing works.
Did you try the file transfer setting in the Bluetooth settings?
On the phone? I probably did but right now not sure exactly what you mean. Sorry.
Go to Bluetooth settings, expand on Advanced (+ arrow), click on File Transfer, choose a location to receive files. Set your phone to discoverable.
On Mac, click on Bluetooth icon in menu bar (usually top right), click on Browse Device, choose your phone from list, click ok.
On phone you'll be prompted to pair with Mac and enter a 4 digit passcode of your choice, do that. Mac will prompt for same passcode, enter same 4 digit passcode. Accept all communications from Mac on phone.
Now, on Mac, the Bluetooth File Exchange utility will display the contents of whatever folder (or memory card) you chose as your save folder. Drag and drop files to it or from it and that's it.
I might update later with screenshots when i have time.
I already paired and entered the code thingy. But did not know anything about a utility in the mac blue tooth menu. I only tried the transfer on phone and nothing happened on mac or the phone could not see mac to transfer. The active sync or whatever it is on the mac sees the phone but says it can't sync with it. So I'll look in the bluetooth menu. F it works this is cool.
How fast would it transfer music from my MacBook pro to the phone?
Thanks alot for telling me about the utility in the Bluetooth menu on mac.
While I don't own a Mac, I know my brother in law has had success with bluetooth for transfering files between my Vogue and his mac as well as the use of it for a personal area network.
Have you tried using the use as drive option when you connect it by usb? this (I would think as it just acts as a uSB key) should work as long as you have a memory card in your phone. It won't "sync" though.
So, I noticed that my Bluetooth no longer works on my Focus.
I have it interloped unlocked and running OS version 7.10.8862.144
I was trying a Bluetooth file transfer program, and it no longer enables. If I toggle it, my phone thinks it's on, but the status bar icon never shows up. It can't see other bluetooth devices and they can't see it.
My guess is that the file transfer program screwed up some settings.
Anyone willing to look for the settings I should have in the registry and possibly the driver names?
What is your Bluetooth file transfer program?
I removed it after it didn't work. The suppose bigger issue is that I tried a few programs, and I don't remember the names.
The ones I remember are as fallows : BT Transfer, DFT BT File Transfer, and Nokia Bluetooth Share.
DFT BT File Transfer for Full Unlock.
Nokia Bluetooth Share must have Nokia drivers on your phone.
Ok, but my issue is that Bluetooth no longer works at all.
