I just purchased a Windows Mobile version of Age of Empires III. I tried to play it and realized that it has no touchscreen support. I've got a HTC Touch Diamond, so this basically makes the game unplayable. So I'm wondering how I can add TouchScreen controls to this game.
Are there any programs that I can use to open the files in the .cab file and program in the controls?
Also, the game shows up very small. Is there anything that I can do to change the native resolution of the game?
I realize that the solution to these issues might be complicated and time consuming, but I'm willing to put in the effort with a little guidance. I would appreciate any input...

How does games react on this phone? Like spb games and astraware?
Can anybody tell me how the phone coupes with games?!?!
Samsung i780
Samsung i780
anyone knows how games play on this format OF 320X320.
because most game or 240x320, so I was wondering how games manage this format.
I got realVGA and I780 Cursor (if I need the cursor keys for a game). If you already have I780kbfix installed, you will need to shut it down before activating I780Cursor. You can find realVGA here in the forums and I780Cursor possibly too. Then you set RealVGA to the highest resolution (96 Dpi, I think) and reboot. If you need cursor keys, for a game, you activate I780Cursor. I recommend you to assign it to some key you don't really need and then always press that key to use 2, 4, 6 and 8 for moving and 5 for "enter". As I mentioned earlier, you have to quit I780kbfix first or you will get a "key hook error" (because both programs want access to the keyboard and only one at a time can have). If you are done with playing, you can press the key assigned to I780Cursor again to write normally again. Btw, I have to add that I didn't play many games on my I780, but the ones I tried worked perfectly.
spb games work perfectly since the company (asking money for them) just makes it accesible for any windows mobile phone on the market. i got spb online and braintester with all kinds of games and they work perfectly. the games adapt to your screensize so i advice their games .
but you can just try games like tangled buggs and so. they work good to.
for real gaming experience mario, rayman, etc. I would like to advice a screen with 230x240 (or higher).

lol, that's like the minimum resolution
I have a big collection of Java games that I use to play on my old Tytn II without problems.
But now with Touch Pro I can't play any of them, simply because Touch Pro don't have the 2 hardware keys for the selection of the soft menus. Since 99% of java games use this 2 keys, all games are useless.
Some one has any ideia to bypass this small but big problem.
This is not likely to be fixable without some re-engineering of the games.
Your other problem is surely one of screen resolution... your old phone is QVGA, your new one VGA, so there would also have to be a means of coping with the quadrupling of pixels. This is more difficult to fix.
Have you tried the games on the new phone? How do they appear and run (aside from the lack of softkeys)? I guess you can't get very far into a game...
Cheers,
Graham.
I try'd 3 or 4 games and they all run very fine and in full screen. My problem is only the keys. If only there was a way to remap the buttons.
Tytn II is QVGA, yes? I'm surprised that Java games cope with the change in resolution without problems.
Can you tell me the names of the games you tried, please? Definitely Java? (Java games come as a pair of files, a .JAD and a .JAR, not a .CAB like a native Windows Mobile game.)
This is of interest to me. Java games can almost certainly be made to work.
Cheers,
Graham.
i download PocketGBA.cab and copy it to my storage memory..
when I try to install it, it says installation of pocketgba_rel060723.cab was unsuccessful...
i dont undestand why, when in a htc touch of a friend its run flawless..!!
anyone help please??
Go to the webpage for PocketGBA, I installed it following their instructions and it worked just fine. You need to get the CAB that comes with FMOD.
which page is it?? can u send it please.. thx
I think he is referring to the file called "Direct Installation" on this page:
http://sunbug.net/products/view/141
It's not a CAB file, but it's a zip file with the FMOD dll included. It works on my TP, but I can't really control anything because the directional pad on the TP doesn't work for crap, and I can't play vertically with the keyboard either because the screen rotates in the wrong direction.
Is anyone able to actually play PocketGBA on their TP? If so how?
bump i have the same issue. does anyone have a well working gba emulator?
Bump
Also looking for a rock solid GBA emulator.
man this really blows some of my fav games cant be played on gba emulator just because of the full screen orientation. Many others also fail like 10 min into the game when i open shop or enter a battle sequence. the only one i have found that works decently is golden something 2 but i runs slow I wish someone with the know how could just update pocket gba
i have no issues with pocketgba..ive been playing through final fantasy VI advance and it runs alot better than my tilt did (even tho pocketgba STOPPED working after wm6.1 came out and it just would crash when a game was loaded) and i havent had ANY crashes on my fuze...
pocketGBA works for some games, but some other games get only 5fps even with sound off.
Super Mario world and Pokemon FireRed are two such examples.
Im not sure if this topic is even alive, but to all of you who tried the cab and it failed...Download this its a standalone version of it http://www.1800pocketpc.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2008/03/pocketgba.zip
Its alive, thanks for the contribution. now people without a pc hookup can play too.
well are there any gba emulators that handles in playing in landscape mode?.. well as for configuration of the hardware keys we could use an app called KforRaphael.. it doesnt keymap but it's a workaround.. well predefined keymap... well do anyone know of any landscape mode gba emulators or is that something we have to wait for?
from what i've seen all the emu projects except for ps1 are dead... it makes me sad
Please help, I cannot get any game emulators to work on my FUZE.
Actually, I play using the d-pad... but if you really wanna another emulator, try morphgear. I hear it has on screen buttons...
hi all,
i have spent hours scouring the forums ranging from the classy htc diamond ( which i loved btw) to the experia x1 (which is also cool) trying to find a good emulator for nes/snes games which support touchscreen, wvga, and the tg01's lack of hard buttons.
if anyone has any ideas or links or anything so we can all get a great emu working for the 1ghz hand sized tv screen then brilliant.

dont think im being a console-ist by only asking for nes/snes but the idea of playing ps1 games on this beast with no hard buttons doesnt exactly thrill me to bits, but if you want to share your findings with everyone then feel free

Play Station Emulator good? ^_^
There you go:
http://www.fpsece.net/
Just Google:
PSX /PS1 ISOs to get the games =)

morphgear is best snes emu but like you say with no buttons or multitouch emus are only really good for rpgs which is fine for me, fpsece is best emu out.
i would have thought we would have fullspeed/sound snes considering you can for psx but you cant.
neway if you get morphgear for hd2 and dreeds mulitouchpad for the best experience for snes, and you have to use the virtual mouse thing (slide finger up over strip bit on tg01) to be able to click on the settings
I guess what we really need is a touchscreen hook that will capture slide events and fire the appropriate cursor keys whilst in specific apps. Is there anything like that already?
wel i had a think about it and we need to make a touch screen keyboard with the typical up, down, left, rihtt and a,b,c buttons and map them to keys such as the wasd configuration. we could invoke the keyboad to pop up with a reg key or something to piggyback on the emu to rocess.
im not a programmer so i have no idea how to make this happen but will help with graphics if anone wants to try.

unless i am misunderstanding what you mean then this is already programed into fpsece and morphgear (using dreeds pad).
eg press circle button and slide finger up = up and circle.
i cant see and better improvements to fake multitouch happening, sorry if ive misunderstood u tho
if this pic come sup then brilliant, this is what i would like personally.
a proper nes pad layout linked to the virtual keypad so i can play pokemon games and such ( please dont mug off pokemon games, for a turn based rpg its pretty good)
there must be a way to link this to an emu
i am willing to help anyone with anything they need to make this work
also....
on a side note, any way to speed up the screen rotation, from what i understand, the os asks the g-sensor what state its in then adjusts accordingly. where as on other phones the g-sensor tells the os what its doing. can we speed up the refresh on this or is it a no go for now?
Just wondering if anyone has got mario rpg on the snes working via morphgear on there phone. For me i can either crash after the opening screens, where u press start to start game, or after a little bit into the game. When it does work it takes about 5 sec's to load each battle, frustrating.
Can i play games FPSCE with this device?

@above not sure but you can just use a dualshock 3
Just parted ways with my E72, and I couldn't live without my SNES emulator. Anyone know of one for the x10?
Just search "snes", "genesis", nes", "gameboy" etc. on the market.
They're there.
But for the x10 there won't be much fun tho: No multitouch: not able to control anything, as most emulators relies on the underlying driver written for multitouch.

You can map the hardware buttons. Every game I've tried so far is completely playable. From obvious reasons I have not tried any fighting games. But for example Super Metroid is very enjoyable to play with the hardware buttons mapped accordingly.
I even made a video when I got my x10 (prolly my second time playing this on my phone so excuse the sloppiness) :
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N4F7zMIA7u8
So you can see there that it's really not a problem playing emulator games with your x10. Actually I think it's even better than most android phones because of the hardware buttons placed so conveniently.
