Question as to what Phone I have - General Questions and Answers

I have an HTC Touch on Bell. I wanted to install the Onyx rom but in the forum thread for finding my CID it says not for Bell Phones. Does this mean that i can't flash this ROM? Is there any way at all that I can do this? Or is it hopeless?

HTC Touch on bell is CDMA Touch - Known as the vogue. Only flash Rom's for vogue - Check out NFSFAN"s Roms - there are probably many others, but I don't know - I have ELFin on Rogers so don't do much reading on the Vogue or Rom's for that device. ONYX ROM is Elf and Elfin only as stated in ONYX Rom threads. If you flash that ROM to your phone you will have big trouble

Read through the WIKI page for vogue for many answers and guides for your device

Quick Newbie Question

Hi,
I'm and AT&T Tilt User and wanted to update my ROM for the first time. My question is, if I am planning on updating to an AT&T ROM (Dutty's or Alex's), do I still need to unlock the CID or is that only required for non AT&T ROMs?
Thanks in advance!
Read all stickies and wikis. Hard SPL before doing anything

nah bro, you're good.
follow this yellow brick road:

and then this one:

The two answers above contradict each other...
I did read the sticky first, but it wasn't fully clear:
"1: CID-unlock your device by following the instructions at pof's HTC Kaiser Hard-SPL v1 - CID Unlock & Flash any ROM to your device (4 free)-thread
This needs to be done to flash a ROM to your device which is not created from your provider (or HTC if you own a device with HTC branding)...."
Now, the 2 responses I received above also contradict each other, so now I'm still unclear.
Yes - you MUST flash HardSPL before flashing any ROMs for the Tilt/Kaiser/TYTN II. The quote you talked about means - if AT&T released a ROM upgrade, you wouldn't have to have HardSPL to utilize it. Any other ROMs (cooked, stock HTC, etc.) require HardSPL to be flashed first.
Follow the instructions in this stickie. The others linked above are only if you should have problems. Make sure you've read the wiki and all the stickies before you start flashing. Good luck.

Thank you
That clarifies things! I appreciate it.

How can I check if my touch pro is unlocked for installing custom roms?

Hi all,
I'm wondering how I can check if my HTC Touch Pro is unlocked for installing custom roms. I bought it without a carrier with no simlock.
Don't know if that matters?
Hope that someone can tell me how to check this...
Thanks

If you did not buy it from a carrier, then it should be SIM unlocked, which means you can install anyone's SIM card and the device should work. NOTE - use of a SIM card implies you have a GSM-based Raphael. There are also CDMA Raphael's out there (for North American carriers) which don't use a SIM card.
In either case, if the device is unlocked, then you can go ahead and install any of the Raphael ROMS being developed in the Raphael ROM forum. Be careful, if you have a CDMA Raphael, go to the CDMA forum.
Security Unlocked is something else, and this is only required if you want to flash the RADIO from another device, such as the Blackstone or Quartz models. This, you have to get done by someone else. There is a sticky thread in the Raphael ROM forum where you can get more information.
Personally, I just stick with SIM unlock, since the Raphael-based radios are working just fine for me.
you should probably put hard spl on there just in case to be safe
Ok thanks than I am going to install a custom rom tonight.
Hope it works!
You need to flash hard spl before doing anything.
Oke, does any one know where this is explained?
So just a short explanation about what to do in what order to install custom roms etc...
Thanks a lot already!
Uh, try the noob flashing thread and the hard spl thread in the rom forum, and the flashing thread at fuzemobility.

HTC TyTN II ROM - Please help

Hi,
I have the HTC TyTN II smart phone with the orange rom on it, im trying to find out how to get rid of this and put the orig rom instead so I can use the phone with another network. The phone is already unlocked but theres so many roms out there I have no idea which one I should be using. Can anyone please advise me on which one i should be downloading.
Many Thanks
If the phone is unlocked then it doesn't matter what ROM you use, just pick a one off the first page and flash it.
None of the ROMs are network specific, ATT based ROMs work better on the Tilt handsets and HTC based ROMs work better on TyTN 2 handsets. Most ROMs are HTC based nowadays.
If you need any help with the flashing process or have any more questions, please post them in this thread.
Thanks
Dave

ROM info for CDMA-GSM worldphone?

I apologize in advance if I overlooked this info on the forums. I searched and didn't find much, and I didn't really want to sift through pages and pages of other unrelated threads.
Are there any ROMs available or HardSPL available for the CDMA-GSM Worldphone version of the Touch Pro2? I just got mine from Verizon, and I want to flash it =)
I noticed in the Resoures thread it says "CDMA-GSM worldphone version is not accepted (RHOD400, RHOD500 modelids), that will have its own HardSPL later." Is any of this going to be available soon?
*Moved to the CDMA sub forum*
Hope you can get some better help here. I'm all confused if it's not GSM
Dave
Go to www.forum.ppcgeeks.com and into the Touch Pro 2 section. At the top, you'll find a sub-section for all the CDMA Roms.
Make sure your device is properly unlocked first (using CDMA unlocker)

Wrong thread, should post in ROM section.
You have a branded phone, these are official ROMS for unbranded phones, wayt till TM provides theire new ROM based on an official HTC ROM.
Or HSPL your phone (void warranty) and flash away
Had the same problem and flashed the latest ROM using SSPL. It was quite painless and the HD2 works fine. Do a search for SSPL or HSPL in this forum and all will be explained.
good luck
Why is it necessary to download the new rpm. I have the same problem. Just curious. My phone seems to be working nicely.
Use the below link to get the ROM and then grab a Goldcard and put the ROM on. Or you can follow the HSPL route instead if you prefer.
Will probably invalidate any TMo warranty you may have so be aware.
