Hello!
Finally I have received my replacement to a faulty ADP1 (I bought it originally in december) and it has the original ADP 1.0 firmware.
I am thinking on upgrading it to a newer firmware, but the current situation is unclear - at least to me, so I am asking for some help to clear it up.
1) Is that correct that there's no "official" update to the ADP 1.0 firmware? There's some information about an "official" ADP 1.1 firmware (http://andblogs.net/2009/01/new-adp1-images-leaked/) but later posts mention that it is for the phone of Google Employees and not for ADP1, right?
2) There's an even newer firmware 1.1h (h=holyday) which is confirmed as the firmware of Google emplyees' holyday gift phone and not for ADP1, right?
3) I've also found some info on "coming soon" official update for ADP 1.0 (http://andblogs.net/2009/02/blessed-adp1-images-soon/), any news on it?
I know that I can install 1.1h with a lot of additional goodies to my ADP1 (thanks jesusfreke!) but I'm looking for information about what's official and what's not.
Thanks,
P
Well there is nothing official, so you might as well use ADP1.1 Holiday until there is
Officially I can't officially tell you that ADP1 can not be updated to a newer firmware due to government regulation hold on your G1, but unofficially, use the search button! Hehhe....
Now this post will self destroy in 5 second!!

Does the RC29 update work with the UK version?
I think it will, but you shouldnt try it. There is a different version for you (I think its TC5-RC7 if i remember correctly). We need someone to try to "intercept" that one for us now.
Currently running TC5-RC7 112931.
any one else in the UK let me know what they're running?
That is the equiv to the RC29 for US.
I'm on TC5-RC7 112931 as well.
Does the "TC5" part of the version name refer to the SDK used to compile the software?

Hi,
I'm a uk user and my G1 is running on TC5-RC7.
I'm glad i found this thread, i was gonna put RC29 update on my droid via micro SD card.
So does this mean i'm up 2 date with RC7??
T-Mobile & Google are a bit slack really......they should keep us posted in the UK as to what we should be running on our new phones.
Whats the difference between RC7 & RC29 then?
Cheers
DB
What scares me is the RC designation (which in my experience means a release CANDIDATE) and not a full version.
How long till we see a "gold"

Probably not till 2009
It would be very nice to see if we can flash US updates to our UK G1s. Years of experience of living in the UK makes me suspect it won't be long before we stop getting any updates due to general apathy in this country to provide long-term customer service.
re: US updates on UK G1
i have uk g1 running rc30 with root access and its fine. there is mazon mp3 store but unless u have US address u cant buy,(you can preview tracks).
i am hoping that because ive still got root access i could revert back 2 UK updates later.
p.s the rc29 update has code to check the build but if you install rc30 (with hack/root) you dont need to worry as this doesnt. there is a guide on here that helped me ill post link if u need it.( I read lots ov ways but couldnt work it out, this 1 does it from sd card, its v.simple)
hope this helps
Ok just ordered my G1 today and need to know somethings. Where can i get the latest firmware? Because some people are saying that it doesn't work over the air for AT&T users. And what is the current firmware that is out right now?
Thanks

Isn't JFv1.41 a modded firmware? I was talking about the official one

If you want to renounce the benefits of the modded firmware (you can always switch back) all you will have to do is wait. The next firmwareupdate will be pushed to you automatically, whether you are on t-mobile ore not, it even works via wifi. As soon as you connect to the internet - and the update is due for you - you will recieve a message on your phone.
rc30 is the most up to date official firmware in usa
Does somebody know, if the ADP1 is also included in the RC33 OTA update?
Or how do developers update their ADP generally and officially?
Thx
Oliver
no OTA for ADP
(would be kind of lame if google updated your dev platform without asking you...)
OK, I understand . But what is the official way to update to RC33, using the JF RC33 ADP1 ?
Thx
Oliver
There is already a 1.1 firmware out for the ADP1. Not sure if the other stuff would come with a brand new ADP1 phone.

they are two different Systems. ADP is the developer phone and RC33 is the consumer phone. there is no ADP1RC33, there is ADP1.1 and RC33. What are you wanting to do?
i think he wants to update his phone with the latest and greatest features ... but he has a dev phone so doesnt know where to get the offical updates.. also is 1.1 an offical update?
It is well-known that the 1.5 ota push has begun and many people have downloaded the latest edition of android.
However, folks such as myself, who don't have a data plan, would like to download the latest update. Just as RC33 was available for manual download, is 1.5 is also available?
Yes, it is downloadable, and if you would have read, you would know where to download it.
Lock Please.
They released OTA 1.5 cupcake for Android Dev Phones but there's no official OTA update from T-mobile so we have to wait for awhile and keep updated on this forum.

its available all over the first page where it shows all of the threads for android development
ADP1.5 ota is available but
T-mobile version is not out yet. They ARE NOT THE SAME.
ADP1.5 is out but not TMO 1.5
If you read around the internet there is no clear cut confirmation of T-Mobile rolling out the 1.5 update for US T-Mobile G1's. It has been confirmed in the UK, but all of the other "confirmations" in the US have turned out to be people with the Android Dev Phone or a rooted TMO G1 getting the 1.5 OTA updates. Be patient, toy with the other builds by JF, Haykuro, and The Dude. I'm sure when it comes out these versions will still be superior in every way.
P.S. I am diligently waiting for the TMO OTA 1.5 as well because my wife won't let me hack her phone, but damn is she jealous about those cute android emoticons!
not all uk phones have the OTA yet...they're STILL sending it out...taking they're time about it tbh lol

No the T mobile - rc version is not available. Maybe you should have read, read again then asked yourself if you wanted to leave an ignorant reply???
Canadian Carrier Rogers Official Twitter response:
The HTC Magic will be upgradable to 2.1 by mid-year.

Considering how late Rogers pushed Sense UI to the Magic (3 whole months late), expect other carriers to get it either before mid-year or mid-year at the latest.
If not I full expect this ROM to be flashable via goldcard on all current 32A Magics.
Mods move if you want since this isn't really development per say
That info is on Rogers site for ages
Good for Rogers! Also wish HTC give more surprise for us.
Yes but this time this news is not through 3rd party sources. More legit.

why goldcard>? if its perfect spl there is no unlock
for 2.1 its flashable on any rooted magic

Yeah flashable now with broken drivers. Official release means official drivers and working OpenGL. And GoldCard means, people with perfect SPL (aka 911 Fix) will be able to root their phones finally. I'd be one of those people. When Robbers sent me my free HTC Magic+ it had the 911 fix on it pre-installed. Need to get out of here fast!
As for the news, this was released on their twitter a while ago. And after that, HTC confirmed it on their twitter.
Goldcard is needed only to bypass the carrier CID check for people who are on different carriers have a different CID. If you already have a Rogers phone, you will not likely need a goldcard to upgrade your ROM.

Why bother? If HTC releases 2.1 for magic it will probably more stable than any custom rom out there? Any android version above 2.1 will probably require better hardware anyways, if you're looking at doing custom roms on your magic in the future..
Midyear seems about right, check the leaked HTC Hero Android 2.1 Update Schedule below:
Code:
HTC EU (Nordic/Greek/RUS/UKR/SA) [B]2010/4/2[/B]
TMO – UK TMO [B]2010/4/16[/B]
SFR signature Orange [B]2010/4/22[/B]
HTC BE HTC [B]2010/5/4[/B]
TMO – PL TMO [B]2010/5/10[/B]
Note that this is Hero only, and 2.1 arrives the earliest beginning next month (April). I'm betting the Magic release will not be much later.
Here's hoping for a 2010/06/04 release!
Gotta say even though I probably won't flash the stock rom it's still good news. It means they'll fix the wifi/ bluetooth and camera drivers and somebody will yank em out and put em in a cooked rom. Good times

We already have OpenGL working perfectly on 32A both old and new radio.
