After a hard reset, I have to setup my email accounts. However, I am unable to use the account names I used before. Furthermore, applications that can read your emails will show these accounts even though they are not usable and not setup in Outlook. Does anyone know where I can delete these accounts completely and reuse the account names?
Thanks.
I have done a search, but I did not see any solutions only the same issue.

Are you really sure Hardreset was successful??? it seams to me the device has still previous data
Pretty sure. It reloads Windows Mobile, does the screen calibration, and then loads up.
hard reset is format. it is impossible that email accounts stay there are you hard reset unless there's some automatic setting of email accounts you've been using or that the rom contains those email accounts..
if the application used to read your mail was in your storage card, this maybe why it still reads the email accounts.

I fully agree with nir36.. if you have used before flexmail and you have stored emails on your memory card then you will have such case as you do.
you can define new email accounts or define the old ones in Messaging in windows mobile..
then it will coordinate with your mail application
I don't use any external mail application. Only an application shell like PointUI. Someone suggested SKTools to delete the accounts that aren't really there any longer. However, you have to pay for SKTools. Does anyone know of a similar application or even better what SKTools does to delete those accounts?
something doesn't add up here...
email accounts can be deleted through messaging... you don't need sktools for that.

I believe the person mean to delete any Message database that might left.. Again if you have hard reseted definitely there should be no traces of Mail Database left over.
However first would you please tell us your device and the ROM that you are using. furthermore Regarding creating new Email Account.. Please take out your memory card.. soft reset and without the card inside you try to create the emial account that you were not able to create. Please let us know what result you got

2 domain based POP3, one Hotmail, one gmail and one mail2web. The penalty, i suppose, of having a split personality on line. I have a work related profile and a personal one.
Hehe, i also use 2 Gmails and 2 POP3.. and sometimes hotmail, messenger dependent.
anyways, try this:
delete whatever accounts you have on your device and delete any pc partnerships on your device. pair your device with your PC again and then try creating an account. if this doesn't work, i suggest creating a _setup.xml file which will be cabbed containing your email preferences. If the first solution doesn't work, let me know and i'll guide you thru creating that cab file.

Hi everybody.
I juste want to say that I'm not able to find a mail client for my HTC.
There is almoust no competitors on this market :
Built-in app : no backup. each hard reset = reconfigure every account
FlexMail : too slow
Profimail : not that easy to configure
QMail : Old
and that's alll.
Does someone here can tell me if there is somewhere a valuable mail client for windows mobile ?
Thank you
Hmmm .... how did you manage to miss www.mail2web.com? With these you can use the built-in Outlook and it works a treat.
They are not free but they are cheap and its a full Exchange client (if you wish it to be). I use them through my own domain and think they are excellent. My sent mails even get sent out as *@stuza.com.
And as I access them through my own domain (*.stuza.com) i can even get to its web front end through many restricted corporate firewalls!
Thank you.
I'm afraid not to have completly undersood you ...
I know Mail2web, I used to use it as a web client when I couldn't use Pocket Outlook in my phone (because no pop or imap data plan).
Now, I can use my multiple imap account in whatever mail client (built in pocket outlook, flexmail, etc.).
But I often Hard reset or flash my rom, and the Poicket outlook doesn't allow a simple settings export : each time, I have to configure my 5 accounts and its tedious.
The other ones allow a setting export, but they are tedious to USE.
so, I wonder why there is not other mail client : I think the market is here ; isn't it?
ps : sorry for my english, I'm french ;-)
Pocket Outlook is built into ALL WinMob devices afaik.
Click -
Start menu
- Messaging
then inside messaging click
- Setup E-Mail
now enter your details and WinMob should auto-detect all the Mail2Web settings for you
If you need to re-enter all your details every time you reboot then it sounds like you have a more serious issue that someone else might be able to help you with?
- I have, say, 5 imap accounts : 3 gmail, 2 other provider mail.
Well
- I know, and use, Pocket Outlook. and for the momentt, I think it's the most intuitive mail client.
BUT : when I do a Hard Reset, my 5 accounts are no more here, an that's normal : I have done a Hard Reset.
In FlexMail, for exemple, I can easilly recall my settings because there is a backup solution. I just have to reinstall FlexMail, end recover all my 5 accounts without a tedious stylus manual configuration for each.
In the buit-in Pocket Outlook, Ihave to re-configure each account manually. That's why I'd prefer to use a third party app, or find a way to backup my mail account.
I dont see the interest of use mail2web as I can access my mails without ... Bt perhaps I miss someting ?
Tnah you for your help.

Thats the real problem here. If this didn't happen I suspect you would be happy with Outlook. It might be better to start a new thread or change the tittle of this one to "Reboot wipes mail settings" and hopefully someone can help you fix this?
Reboot wipes mail settings
Yes that's the real problem.
At the same time, my comment about the lack of competition in this area remains.
Why QMAIL3 (last release May 13 2009) is old ?
i was just thinking about this same thing the other day.... there are replacements for just about every aspect of the phone... explorer, browser, multimedia, contact management, but mail is the least touched... i was thinking i would prefer a more finger friendly version would be nice... something along the lines of icontact for email
i have multiple accounts too and its a pain setting up after each new ROM
Can somebody just send an email to MS to request them to add the 'export settings' feature on poutlook. I think it's the best solution say that in the future release of WM65 this become a 'build-in' function. And, seems much easier for them to do it, I just remember eversince the earliest 'outlook express', MS has this feature built-in their desktop mail client.
I'm just afraid of my English not good enough to express this in a convincible way to those guys in MS.
Update: I just have sent the link of this page to MS Outlook Mobile Team, Hope they can pay some attention to this 'customer feedback'.
I tried synching with my work exchange server and unticked all boxes bar email (i.e. contacts, tasks etc), as that was all I wanted. Although this worked, it decided to delete all the contacts I had on my phone!
Unfortunately I didnt have any backups, is there anyway to get this back? Ive had a search around, and people mention there may be artifacts left in the pim.vol file. Ive found the file (its aorund 700kb, so Im hoping there is something in it), is there anyway to extract/view the info in there?
This phone/WM6 is really beginning to seem like more trouble than its worth

I am not sure I understand you correctly.. So you unticked (NOT SYNC) with your exchange the contacts, task, mails etc. Right???
Then you delete all contacts on your phone which are now completely gone.. And as my knowledge there is no way to undo the delete.
The only way that you can get that back is to have a previous backup(which you don’t have) or to sync. With the exchange again to get it in your phone!!!
I had contacts on my phone already (that I put in by hand as and when I met people for example). I then tried to sync with exchange to get my emails, but because I didnt want contacts I unticked that box. After this sync, all my contacts were gone.
The numbers that I lost were never on the Exchange server.
I'm beginning to think my mistake was to use this as both a personal and work phone, it doesnt seem to want to do things by half. I cant comprehend the thinking that goes into deleting personal contacts if you sync with your work server.
Well first it is strange and it should be not happen to lose your existent contacts when you not choose to sync with exchange.
If you had already sync. With exchange for contacts then later you would choose to unticked then the contact would be cleaned up on the device.
Anyhow have you checked your exchange account whether you have exidently sync contacts and then later unchecked??
just to double confirm I would check the contact in the exchange account and as well in the deleted items folder

Mate, you are a genius! Just checked my Outlook contacts and they've all ended up there! Thanks a lot, I really appreciate it.
I think I shall leave the synching be for now anyway...
Thats great!!! First thing I would suggest you now is to make a backup of your PIM. save one copy in your memory card and one copy in your desktop.. You never know when you might need it :0)
Look in development section there are some good PIM backup software
cheers
Will do, thanks again.
Maybe some of you folks can chime in here with some discussion on how to manage email.
I own a copy of FlexMail 4.11, but one of the things that has always frustrated me about the program is that it does not integrate with the OS such as being able to directly send a photo from the album via email, and as of this version, it doesn't rotate to landscape. There are other gripes I have, but there are also many upsides, such as the ability to store messages externally, backing up email account settings (for re-installation after ROM updates) and a number of other features that make it very nice.
But I have to say that the built-in mail and SMS utilities in WM have gotten much better and I'm very tempted to use them instead of FlexMail if I can figure out how to store the content on my flash card. I remember there was a registry hack (I think it was in Tweaks2k2 or PocketMechanic) which would manage the reg changes automatically.
Anyway, I'm wondering if any of you can share your thoughts on what options might be better that would be the 'best of both worlds'.
Thanks in advance!

I have never used FlexMail and can't give you any advice on that. BUT I want to point out that it is possible to backup your e-mail account with the WM native mail app as well!
If you just want to backup your account settings, you can do this via a xml file and use Sashimi to recreate your account after flashing (read more here). If you want to backup your account and all the e-mails you can use Microsoft MyPhone AFAIK. Not sure about that though...

Fair enough, though it gets me only half way there.
I found that PocketMechanic will relocate the message store, but it seems a bit kludgy to me, in that the 'today' plugin will force attachments to the internal store, when IMO they should also be on the external (storage card) location.
See the instructions here to see if you come up with the same conclusion with regard to the PocketMechanic solution:
http://www.wizcode.com/articles/comments/relocate-your-data-with-pocket-mechanic-professional/
Since I own a copy of PM (I'm one of those crazy guys that actually buys the software he uses to reward talented developers) it's no skin off my nose to experiment, but for the time and hassles it'll take until I figure it out. So I'm coming to you folks here for some discussion before I 'pull the trigger'.
So it looks like I'm faced with two choices, neither of which are entirely what I want. One gives me external store of all SMS and Email messages (FlexMail), but some functionality is disabled. The other gives me total integration with the OS (Outlook) but a kludgy and perhaps unreliable method for relocating and storing the data.
I'd be interested in hearing other thoughts, solutions or workarounds.
Anyone? Would really like to do one of two things:
1) Change default programs in WM to point to FlexMail so that I can send a photo via email directly from the camera application
or
2) Move storage for WM native email from internal memory to storage card.
If by Storage you mean only attachments than it's easy. You go to your inbox>options and then select the storage tab. You have the option to use astorage card to save attachments. If u don't mean that I'm afraid that I can't help u. Good luck.
I am using FlexMail and the built-in WM client. I've used them individually and side-by-side. FlexMail isn't too finger-friendly but it's OK and I prefer it. IMAP Idle support is useful to me. Using both clients gets around the problems that result because FlexMail doesn't support some of the HD2's features.
I have problems when I set either program to store information on a storage card. Eventually, something happens and I find I need to reset my e-mail accounts and start again. I think this is because the card isn't initialized in time for the mail programs to access it. It doesn't happen when I first start saving mail to a storage card but it always happens eventually. I now use internal memory but I'm very selective as to which messages I have on my HD2. For instance, I download headers initially and rarely keep more than a few days messages to hand. I use IMAP accounts so my mail is kept on my server if I do need something from, say, last year. I can search for older messages on the server without downloading anything; again, this saves space.

I'd be grateful to hear your thoughts on what you feel each is best at. I haven't used the internal WM mail client much, but I have used FM and have been happy with it. I tried using IMAP but found that there was really no benefit for me, in that I'd want local copies on my home machine anyway (no ISP is perfect) and I can't save a copy of sent items the way we can with Outlook and POP.
My question is that if I use 3rd party apps like FlexMail and PocketInformant, how do we get them to integrate to the HD2 shell (Sense) so that they launch rather than the corresponding WM utilities? This tangentially gets me back to the original question about how to email a photo directly from the camera via FlexMail.
Thanks in advance for your thoughts.
hi, i used flexmail for some time, a while ago. i stoped using it when i change to hd2.
the only thing i realy miss, is the possibility to put a mail that is stored in one imap account folder to a folders on a different imap account. i didnt mean forwarding, i mean moving it between folders of different accounts.
aside from that i dont miss a thing on flexmail, the programmers are not getting dizzy to mentoin that they are using only ms windows features and functions in the interface. and i belive them, because the programm gives the user a realy hard time to use it. and that is not only on hd2 the case.
after all i can say i have a good time with flexmail but i would not buy it again. not with this interface that give the user the feeling, he is 100 years back in time.
mad
Flexmail 4.11 allows to access (i.e. Send/Receive) : Gmail, Hotmail, Yahoo Mail, my office emails, AOL IMAP, FastMail, emails through IMAP, emails through SSL, custom port, etc, SMS, etc.
i prefer Flexmail, its much much better.
I installed Flexmail in external Storage Memory. I was accessing multiple emails through it.
After ROM update, and re-installation of Flexmail, i can see all the previous emails and email accounts in the first opening window , but actual account settings inside the Menu > Accounts , all are missing !
Now it doesnt send/rcv anymore.
Is there a way to get the previous all email settings back ?

It sounds like unfortunately you didn't back up your individual email account settings from within FlexMail. You'll have to recreate them. I suggest after doing so that you save the files to your card, so that if you upgrade your ROM again you can restore the email accounts easily.
What really surprises me is that there doesn't seem to be any significant Touch friendly Mail application out there.
Is there anything above and beyond Flexmail ?
Well, I can save contacts to my phone itself, but if I try to save to my Outlook (prefered) or Google accounts, they dont save. After hitting save, it just goes back to the number as if the phone doesnt know who they are, and the contact is not in my contact list.
Tried removing and readding my Outlook account - same behaviour.
This is pretty damn bad for me - I need to be able to add clients to my phone then be able to access them from my Outlook account elsewhere. Can anyone help? It seems to be an issue other people have had over the years under different configurations from googling about, but I never see a solution.

Anyone have a solution for this? I have the same problem on my s7. I have a custom rom on it and did NOT install the stock email app. I'm running a Microsoft outlook exchange account on this gmail app (it was setup through it). My contacts, calender, and email sync fine but I can not edit my exchange contacts on my phone. Also I can not save new contacts to my exchange account from my phone. This is a big problem.
