Hi All......
I am using my XDA II with a Tom Tom BT device, and SmartST V2 from Navman.
My question is, which software is best - there seem to be various out there including TomTom V3.
I want to try these bloody things before I buy them you know! I bought Navman on good faith, and well its ok, but quite clunky in its use and structure of roads.
What do you all use???? What do you like, dislike etc?
Help/Comments would be appreciated.
I can get TomTom Version 3 now for 70 quid which is pretty good, but do I really want too??? What benefit will it give me??
I have a bit of time to look at this, as my XDA is going to hospital tomorrow for a randomly unresposive screen - I hope they will replace it under the 12 month warranty.

Or you could try and get a live eval from tomtom like me.
Hi,
I'm currently using the O2 Orbit (original) phone, and have really enjoyed my time with it. HOwever, I am now due an upgrade
I am debating between the Stellar and the Orbit 2. I don't miss the keyboard on the Orbit (had the Mini IIs prior, which had keyboard of course), but I wouldn't be too depressed to have one. As far as I can see, there's not much to seperate the two phones, but from user experience, which one would you buy, and why?
(or can someone think of any other alternatives?)
A.
Hi,
I found the Kaiser (o2 Stellar) very bulky, that's why I changed. Also fm radio on orbit II, better touch flo experience. Check out the new ppc's from the Barcelona WMC2008. maybe u ll find something worth waiting for. but in any case, i don't think they will be in stock with any operator soon enough for ur upgrade. i d go for the orbit II.

I'm slightly worried about the Polairs' video driver issue... or is this not so much of a problem?
kaiser and polaris suffer from the same driver thing
people report that htc have bulged and will pay qualcom for the driver
they so far been too cheap to pay for
otherwise another possiblity could be other devices comming out using the same chip
like toshiba
Definitely go fot the Polaris, man! I'm tellin' ya
It's slimmer, more solid, and pretty And if you don't miss the keyboard of the Mini S (heh, I also had one, then changed it for a Neo (Prophet) and didn't miss the keyboard ), the Polaris is maybe the best PPC out there.
My opinion - BioTouch is much better than an old touch screen combined with a hw keyboard. And with the number of the input apps out there, it's the ultimate choice.
Tried Opera 9.5 yesterday - amazing. This browser makes your PPC the ultimate mobile internet device and combined with the BioTouch it simply rocks!
can i put tomtom6 on my xda iq or what is the best sat nav for this phone as i have read tomtom 6 does not really work
You can put TomTom 5.2 for smartphone on standard and TomTom 6 on professional. I've used Dell Navigation and have plated around with Garmin and Rt.66 and I still think TomTom is better. Even 5.2 with 2005 maps is still useable.
2125
trying tomtom 6 on 2125 but never seems to run if you click it and crashes while installing do i need a different version of tomtom or upgraded rom to run ttn6 on this phone? or will i not run it ever?
I have a X7510 and cannot instal iGO 2006 Plus.

NOBODY KNOWS ??
Well to be fair, not that many even have the x7510 yet, soo....
My opinion is WM 6.1 is guilty because it seems that on HTC X7500 with WM 6.0 is possible to install iGO 2006 Plus.

Not true. I was using it in both wm6 and wm6.1 without problem. Now I've switched to Tomtom 7 because it's better.
No voices in TT7
Hi, I just put in TT7 and have no voices. I had them in there with6 but wherever I put them now they don't show up does anyone have any ideas on this...TJ

Yes, I can confirm iGO 2008 works great on the X7510 and in Real VGA 96dpi mode too.

It didn't work for me. I could get as far as the setup screen, but it would freeze. Sorry. I am not sure if it is incompatible with the applications I am using since I have a lot or if it is the ROM itself.
Why not just switch to iGO8? It would be better too, especially with the updated maps.
iGO8 works well here in CT, I'll be visiting my Mom in NJ tomorrow, so this will be a really good test for it.
iGO8 was very easy to setup. Even the setup were done automatically without me specifying which baud rate, etc...
It was very fast to compute the corrected route (less than 5 seconds), if ever you suddenly made a wrong turn. I tried to fxxx up, but it just won't let me.

I think you should be able to use it in 192dpi as well as 96 dpi (portrait only. Landscape would not work). In 128dpi, it would completely not work.
That was my experience anyway, although I don't use this product anymore, with TT7 so much better.

That may be the cause since I use mine landscape. I guess I can try checking out TT7 too.
Do you ever get freezing screens with TT7? Because with iGO8, it's flawless so far.

Must be in the ROM. ??? Anyway, I am happy with iGO8. It was excellent in New York on my way to New Jersey last week, if I don't have it otherwise, I would still be running in circles.
This reminds me, I need to buy a car charger. My battery lasted 4.5 hours on a full charge using iGO8. Excellent performance on the X7510.

Could be the rom because I understand that igo 2006 plus can be installed on x7500 but not on 7510. Or maybe because of win 6.1 versus win 6.0 ?
For charger you can find here:

I can confirmed that the IGO8 release on June 3rd work with 128dpi mode... Don't know about 96dpi. But it's working very nice, super to Tomtom 6, map loading and moving map are very smooth. Love the software.

Thanks a bunch
This website says HTC Touch Diamond will be the best phone of 2008: http://www.mytouch-diamond-phone.com
Anyone feel the same way? I know the new iPhone has 3G but the Diamond also touts 3G speed...
The iPhone is not a WinMo phone.
Why even bring it up if you're asking what the best WinMo phone is?
My candidates for the best WinMo phone of 2008 are:
Super number 1.- Htc Advantage x7510!!
1.- Touch Pro Raphael
2.- Samsung Omnia
3.- Toshiba protegé g910
4.- Diamond
Iphone is not WinMo and can not compare with any of the ones above
Iphone sucks in several aspects.... so let´s not talk about it!
Cheers

Yeah, all 5 of his posts are basically cut-and-paste.
Currently I would say the HTC Touch Diamond.
Either the HTC Touch Pro or the SE Expreria might surpass it when they become available.

Hahaha you're joking, right? I presume yo;ve never actually used any of the above, especially the G910...
My vote would be the i780, possibly followed by the i900 if you don't want a keyboard (too early for real user reviews yet). Forget the eye-candy and go for something that works better than any other PPC out there - at a bargain price. Not just my opinion:-

hello from italy
i had samsung 780,and now i have diamond and omnia, i beleve omnia is the best or will be the best, it have a good battery, superb cam, big display (alas with bad resolution), good touchscreen, write on it is easy without stylus, problem with navigators, tomtom7 needs of gps gate, garmin is free (why always this problem?), the fix is good,
some little problem with installations of some programs and games, with diamond no problems, for me however omnia is the best for NOW
