Hi,
I am expecting my German XDA in the mail in the next few days.
I have been reading this forum for the past 2 weeks, and have tried to wade through all the great advice to educate myself on ROM upgrading issues. I would like to clarify that I understand this properly.
As I understand, in order to render my new XDA "O2-free" and customizable, not to mention english, I need to install a new ROM - probably the latest Imate ROM or maybe the PDAMobiz ROM.
Before I do this, should I Unlock the CID? From my reding, this will allow me to the install any ROM.
Is this an accurate understanding of everything involved?
Are there other better options to achieve my goal of a non-branded non-operator specific Jamin/Neo?
Is there a way to save my original German O2 ROM if it became necessary to return the unit for service?
I hope people do not object to thsi post. I know that it can be irritating when newbies post on topics which have already been discussed thoroughly. I have spent at least 2 weeks trying to educate myself on the procedures, and really would just like if some knowledgeable contributor could reassure me that I have not missed something obviuos.

I tried to follow the steps as outlined, but when I get to teh first soft reset, the device locks, and I can do nothing with it!
Please tell me how to fix it. Can I use bootloader?

I entered bootloader then used the Dopod ROM with the modified romupdateutility.
I have not tried anything else.
Does anyone know of a solution for us SPL 2.15.0001 users? We seem to be very restricted in options.

I just upgradet to the new dopod wwe one. No probs at all with my XDA Neo. Its just 5 days old, so no CDI-unlockin needed Then I also took the O2 bootscreen again, and it works...still :wink:

Yes, you have to go to ftp.clubimate.com there you can find the JAMin ROM's and also you can choose the language you want.
As you know, first, you must CID unlock, then you can download your favorite ROM. Tell us your opinon after install it.

I'm just trying to flash wm6 and found following page in czech language how to flash a rom without concerning about CID. I'm asking myself if this is possible and going to work properly?

and i forgott to say that i cant install the cert.cab it just say instalation was unsuccessful the program or setting cannot be installed because it does not have sufficient system permissions
You need to remove MS application lock. Search forum for more information.

i have don it but when i waant to unlock it it just say the phone is unlockable and then when i want to install cert to supercid my phone i can`t iinstall it.
Have you tried SDA_Application Unlock ?

i have sould the problem no i have wm6 on my qtek 8310
How did you solved it? Cause i am getting the same problem, as you. Cant unlock, tried with regeditSTG, but it doesnt works, because i cant install regedit.exe, because of the lack of the rights..
Also my trying to unlock my qtek 8310 with "sda application unlock" was unsuccesful. "phone is not unlockable".. by the way, my phone is with ORANGE's software. Hope to get some answers.

i have since 2 days the new orange french dream. i would like to dump my firmware to help the community ... so if someone know how to do it without loosing my french firmware .....
second issue : there isn't option to sync google calendar and contacts ! Thanks Orange ! This is not a bugg but something wanted by Orange and this is the case on all the orange french dreams... So if someone have an idea ...

You should install AnyCut and see if you can see a shortcut to those two applications.

Sorry, can you clarify what you mean, when you say you have one of the french dreams. Are you refering to the HTC Magic or the HTC Dream, In short, does it have a physical keyboard or only an on screen one? with regard to your sync problem, this sucks, however I am sure that if someone can get the firmware out of your phone it can be modded to rectify this.

I have the same phone I guess. That's the only one you can get in France for now.

Yes, that's what I meant
leaving asside the fact that there seems to be confusion over whether these guys are talking about the dream or the magic can I just ask - assuming this is the Magic is there a way to extract the version of android it has so that it can be modded. I am a complete noob, but assume that there may be elements (like the VK) that can be transfered to JF's next release.

Yes and the problem is here : to get the firmware we need root and to get root we need to downgrade... and delete the french one
I've read somewhere that the modifications are based on the SDK supplied by the operator, so maybe we need to wait for Orange to give us his SDK ?
@Murphy2715 With Orange i think you can wait a long time before they release there SDK :s
I use Android 1.1 on my HTC polaris and i have the French language so i think you can downgrade be the root and reinstall a custom firmware with the French language

That says fastboot and has skateboarding androids (typical of dev phone bootloader). If it indeed ships with fastboot enabled, then it shouldn't be a problem to boot on a modified recovery.img, perform a nandroid backup, etc.

YOU CAN ROOT THE HIPAD G10 PAD VERY EASY (for dummies like me ;-)
with following application:
"z4root.1.2.0.apk"
