unlock blueangel SX56 for AT&T - General Questions and Answers

I'm searching the threads for info on unlocking my phones? failing! I can't understand most of what I'm reading and I'm not sure this is something I can do myself. I purchased 3 of these SX56 in a lot and all are asking for a SIM PIN with my AT&T sim card.
I'm clueless and quite ignorant on the subject. I seen on thread saying to copy a link to the phone and run it?????? I don't know how to do that and I don't want to screw this up. any advice for a newbie?

First and foremost, you either have an SX56 or a Blue Angel. The Blue Angel is the SX66, the SX56 is an older device called by the name of Wallaby. Please specify which one you did get exactly so that we can direct you to the right place for help.

The sx56 is the phone that is SIM locked. I tried the XDA developers ROM for wallaby last night and failed. Now one of the phones are stuck in the "upgrading" mode and I'm afraid it's hopeless. any idea if it can be recovered? I think the problem was with the activesync, it wasn't current enough and I was required to get a newer version. I downloaded the latest free version and it said my phone was updating but it didn't??????

All phones are SIM locked (unless it is unlocked by either manufacturer or by the user). If the phone was SIM locked and you tried to upgrade it without unlocking, then you might be in trouble. Now, your phone is in "upgrading mode", and what you are trying to say is that the phone is in bootloader mode... if it can access bootloader, then you still have a fighting chance.
First of all, we agree that you have a Wallaby and not a Blue Angel, correct? (the one with the big black external antenna that houses the stylus). If that is not the case, now would be a good time to let us know.
Second, your message wasn't exactly clear. what did you exactly do to your phone to get it stuck in bootloader? Please go step by step on what you did...

My phones are the Wallaby SX56, these are SIM locked but the carrier is AT&T according to the logo on the front of the phone. I put my AT&T SIM card in the phone and it asked me for a SIM PIN.
Here's the steps I took to get where I am currently,
went to Wiki XDA Developers and found my device "Wallaby" Clicked the link to unlockwiz and chose my device "I have a Wallaby" Next question asked if my ROM version was on te list, it was not and I choose accordingly. I did not have a serial cable and I choose not to back up my current ROM to opt for the "special edition" by XDA Developers This is a new phone to me and I had no need of any saved contact info, next I clicked the link download and install "special edition ROM" Here's the link I used
: http://www.romkitchen.de/tools/special_rom_1.2.exe.zip
***I think I just found my failure, under readme: system requirements do not include Vista! I went to microsoft and downloaded a newer version of activesync and it was not compatible with Vista. I ran a program there to fix the compatiblity issue and it said download complete.***
the phone recognized the USB connection last night and I started the download, during the download I got an error message that the COMM/USB port connection had failed and to check the connection in device manager.
at the time device manager was showing the HTC device but now it's not. I cannot find the activesync program on my computer and my device is not showing up anywhere when I connect it to the computer.
I noticed at the bottom of my screen, the "safely remove hardware" Icon used to stay on the bar until I clicked it to remove the device, now the icon closes after a few seconds when the device hasn't been disconnected. not sure if this is important or not but maybe helpful.
currently the phone is in bootloader and when I connect it to the USB it shows up in the device manager but status is "the device cannot start" code 10 please check for solution with microsoft.
It's obvious that I'm not smart enough to be attempting a fix________Nice Siemens SX56 for sale for parts only, make an offer?

http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=XDAunlock
try the exe version

I don't know how to "try" anthing from where I'm at, My activesync is missing, the phone is not recognizing the USB link, vice versa. where do I start?

I'm only kidding about selling the phone for parts but I might not have a choice. I need recovery

I've got activesync again but not sure whats next, I get an error in windows mobile trying to connect to one of the other wallabies. I need to know how to recover the bootloader phone?????

Try to do it with a XP computer rather than a Vista one. It is not only a matter of ActiveSync, but the way the OS works with the flashing...

I had a feeling that was coming!
So tell me where to start once I get to an XP machine. I'm in bootloader so do I start the entire process over as if I weren't in bootloader? and am I using the right link "unlockWiz" to do what I need?

Just follow the steps in the wiki (exactly as you see them). I'll try to see if I can go back and check on the whole procedure (I have a Wallaby myself, which I haven't used since 2005, but I saved it from becoming a paperweight after a bad flash).
Try to see if you can flash the original rom with the XP machine. If you can't, then you may want to try the SD flash method... that's the one that saved mine.
Report back to see if it worked.
Good luck!

Wow, I can't find an XP machine anywhere???

USB Mode issues and Determining SIM status

I didn't want to start a new thread for this, but after consideration I determined that after searching for 3 days and not finding anything dealing directly with this issue that it might be my best bet
First off I want to say that although the issues I will describe seem to have happened after using JockyW's tools, I don't wish to make his tools the culprit. JockyW has contributed in abundance to the community here and I appreciate it all. I have mentioned part of this issue previously and JockyW had definitively stated that this could not be caused by his tools (assuming instuctions were followed). I do not want to second guess JockyW, however I believe that my experience and my mental capacity is sufficient to say that I followed all instructions 100% and these issues still appeared. I will not pass any judgement on that fact, other than to state it.
When I received my first Tilt a few months ago I CID unlocked it with OliPro's HardSPL and used JockyW's tool to Security Unlock it. When I sent that one back because of an issue with the back cover I performed the same procedures on my second Tilt. Both of these went flawlessly, not a single problem. Since then I have flashed dozens of ROMs and SPLs without issue. This shows that both the tools and my ability to properly use them have been successful for me in the past.
Earlier this week I attempted to use JockyW's Security Unlocker tool and his kaiser-relocker.exe to Security Re-lock my phone. I was doing this as an experiment to show that a phone did not need to be Security Unlocked in order to flash any HardSPL. The experiment proved to be correct, however after I re-locked the device I found that I could not get into USB mode in the bootloader, and that it was stuck on SERIAL. I tried all of the following:
1) Remove all USB devices from my XP machine's device manager
2) Reboot phone and PC
3) Remove Battery, SIM and SD cards
4) Reinstall ActiveSync
5) Try another PC
In all instances my phone was always recognized as an "Unknown Device" in Device Manager and would not go from SERIAL to USB mode.
However, when using Jump-SPL the phone would go into USB, so it isn't a problem with the physical hardware in the device. I further messed around with the phone, and did some things that I know I shouldn't have done and this caused the phone to eventually brick. This was not surprising and no one's fault but my own since I was moving into unchartered territory and taking (unnecessary) risks.
The next day my warranty replacement arrived and the first thing I did was load JockyW's original HardSPL 1.1 on it. Had no problems. I then went to use the Security Unlocker tool. The tool ran fine and stated that my device was successfully unlocked, however upon my next boot into the bootloader the device did not show "Security Unlocked" at the top of the screen. In addition I now seemed to have the "SERIAL" issue again on the phone. I performed all the same tests to no avail. If I use Jump-SPL or flash JockyW's 3.28/3.29 HardSPL with "force usb" mode then my USB works. However when I flash back to a Stock SPL, or to the original JockyW or OliPro I cannot get my device into USB mode.
GSLEON3 assisted me in using AT Commander to Security Unlock the phone even though I could not connect via USB. So now my phone is successfully unlocked, but still having the USB problems.
This is not a major issue, since I can still load 3.29 force USB and flash ROMs. I can also load Jump-SPL and flash a different SPL. However I am unable to use some tools that require the original HardSPLs and USB connectivity.
At this point, my questions are as follows:
1) Is there a way to force the device into USB mode when using the original HardSPLs (stock or "hacked")?
2) Does Security Unlocking a phone always mean that it is SIM unlocked as well? Since I am unable to connect via USB I cannot use the available SIM unlocker tools. I would like the phone to be SIM unlocked so I either need to find an answer to #1 or else find another way (possibly with AT Commander) to check and/or SIM unlock the device.
Before the above incidents I used all the available tools with little regard for any danger they could do. I felt that if i followed instructions then there really wasn't much danger I could do to the phone and coached others the same.
These experiences have now made me feel differently. I know that I followed all instructions perfectly, and I know that hundreds (if not thousands) of people have used these tools with no issues, as have I several times before. But some combination of these devices, procedures, and software have caused the issue.
Rather than investigate exactly why it happened, because that is already a proven reality (it did happen). I am hoping I can find some answers out to the above questions. This way if someone else experiences the issue we will have some solutions.
Thanks for any assistance you can provide on the matter.

[q] can t flash hspl to rhodiumw sprint

Hi everyone, it think now someone could help me
After my HTC TP2 verizon, they give me a sprint one. I've tried to flash hspl but it's impossible, tried flash stock rom, the process stopped at 1% and told me INVALID VENDER ID. I can put it in bootloader and it's shows RHOD400, 32M SS-BC SPL-0.63.0000.
when i boot it it stops on a black screen where it's written touch pro 2 test only not for sale.
How can i get it running? Please help me
Sounds like you got some developer model, perhaps the bootloader is different enough so HSPL will not work...
Why would Verizon give you a Sprint branded TP2...? That makes no sense whatsoever.
I've taken that with a friend, not verizon give it to me. So how can i try to flash hspl? please help me

Re-read my last post. It sounds like you got some special dev/test model, where the bootloader is different enough causing HSPL to fail.
I am not skilled enough to determine "why", all I can do is speculate off of the output you provided.

You won't be able to use a sprint device on Verizon service without some hacking too.
You will not be able to get the HSPL to work on this phone because it looks to see what phone it is before it unlocks it. With a develppment model there is no way to know what the id's being used are without hacking the phone.
The only way is if you could get the devs to edit the unlocker for you. Good luck with that. They don't even answer their help desk requests for this app at this point. It is abandon-ware as far as I can tell.
Just pick up a replacement off ebay for like $50, or use this one for parts and replace the system board from one with a busted screen.
What do you mean by development model, and where can i find the developper s site?

A development phone is one that is provided to a company before the official release of a phone for the purpose of debugging, and software development. It is usually labeled not for resale. These phones frequently are non-standard. You will need to contact HTC to find out what developer it was assigned to before you would be able to find out what the developer's site would be.
Best advice, just get another phone. You will not get this one to work unless you are a software developer and reverse engineer.
thanks

Go here:
http://www.asus.com/Tablets_Mobile/ASUS_Transformer_Pad_TF300T/#support_Download_32
Go to utilities, download the unlock app V8 on your device, install and follow instructions. Be aware! No more warranty (depending on your location, mine was still under warranty after bricking mine flashing the wrong bootloader!), so make sure what you are doing after unlocking it. Read. After you think you've read it all, read a bit more! There are a lot of manuals out here to explain everything to you, but make sure that what you read is applicable to YOUR situation. I went wrong by installing a 4.0 bootloader after updating to 4.1. Installed the wrong CM, wiped and was bricked. So read, and read some more Good luck!
Oh, and after you've done all the reading and read some more, and you've decided that all you actually want is root access, you can go here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2187982
It will explain you how to install TWRP on 4.2!!!! only!!!
After that, you can follow the rest of the info to get root or use TWRP for installing a custom ROM (like CROMI)!
Again, good luck
You can't load CM10.1 from the JB4.2.1 bootlader. They are not compatible. So that will be a fruitless task. Only CROMI and Energy Roms are compatible with the new bootloader right now.

Here we go!
Please prepare your device carefully. Deactivate your Google account firstly. Your device should be registered at the Asus server. If there are any issues, search the thread for "unlock"!
I've been trying to unlock for a couple of days. No luck though it keeps telling me there could be a network issue. I've read a few places that it's because the device isn't registered. When i try to register the device it tells me that it should already be under 'My Products' . I assume someone has already registered the serial. Though if its already registered then my device should unlock. I've contacted support hopefully they can get it registered properly then I can run the unlocker. If anyone has had any experience with this before please let me know. Thanks
I've been in contact with Asus support and they have sync's my device to their server with the MAC and Serial. The unlocker still doesn't work for me. Says network error. They asked if the motherboard has been changed. I don't think it has, but perhaps as it's the CN(China) version it won't unlock. Does anyone know a way to unlock without Asus unlocker?

Nope! There is no other way.
The trick is to factory reset the tablet, DO NOT GIVE IT A GOOGLE OR GMAIL ACCOUNT, then run the unlock tool! Good luck!
I have unlocked the TF300TG executing the unlocker tool v8 after removing the google account from tablet (without rebooting) with internet active.

Just doing a factory reset now. Asus support suggested that it could have been a MoBo change if there was an issue before, therefore the serial I gave them to activate/sync the tablet with their system would be invalid.

UPDATE: Same thing "unknown netowrk error". I guess i'm unable to sync this tablet with Asus server.
Is there another way to unlock the device without the unlocker tool?
Can't install any other ROMS or Google Play Store on this CN version, its making the tablet useless.

Did you provide to Asus the current SN of the devise? .
Please open Settings ->Status and pick up there the current SN and try the whole process again. Keep in mind there is no other way to unlock the bootloader.
Yes I provided them with the serial number (sticker on outsid of device). Also the serial number in Settings->Status. Also the MAC address in status. an App called King Root seems to have rooted the device.
I'm trying to get the play store working too.
Also Asus explained that the serial in status is not a valid one. I tried registering it myself andit does say that teh serial is invalid. only on the one on the ouside sticker is valid.
update: looks like it could be to do with being a refurbished unit, the serial starts with C2NK and does not register as valid. I found a thread about an ASUS Zenbook that serial starts with C4N0 and they were unable to register their device either.

Nope never did that, was a clean tablet after full reset no Google account.
Thanks for your help, but I think it's the refurb that is the issue, Serial number of the motherboard is not recognised by support or the asus website.

Please keep in mind the current SN of YOUR Tablet is the number shown in "Settings -> Status" not on the sticker. So you have to register your tablet on Asus website like a new one after exchange MB. Seems you never did.
PS:
※Version V8_For Android 4.2 only works with TF300T 4.2 JB of TW,US,WW CN SKU. It won’t work on other devices.
Thanks for your help.
Yes I tried to register with that serial, it's unrecognised by the website and by the support team.
I read another post somewhere who has the same issue, both our serial numbers start with a similar sequence of letters.
Another user suggested this can be when a service center that Asus use - use a different unofficial manufactured part. This would be why Asus do not recognise the serial number. I bought my device refurbed so I guess this has happened to mine.
Reference:
http://forum.notebookreview.com/threads/cannot-register-with-asus.673127/
:good:
Hence I need a different unlocking method. Which seems one isn't available.
Does anyone know how to get the play store working? Without unlocking? Root only?
Perhaps I need to somehow change the serial number like this:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2243521
I don't quite understand how to do this on my TF300t though.

You are welcome! However using the "Thanks" button is also greatly appreciated.
Your issue is really confusing. To clear it up I would like to recommend to you to write an email to Asus Support in order to report your issue. Provide the WiFi MAC address and the current SN (Settings -> Status ->SN) of your device. Ask them to be so friendly to unlock your device. In general it takes a few days and hopefully your tablet will be unlocked.
Yes I have done exactly that. They were very helpful over several days of communication. They told me the details are invalid even in the screenshot I sent, and that they suspect a repair on the mb or swap was done.
I've found several posts with this issue in fact with a different model.
Thanks for trying. If someone knows how to change the serial number on my device that's be great, it seems doing that may fix the issue. Some users have had success using ratchet (from my earlier post https://github.com/AndroidRoot/Ratchet/blob/master/ratchet.c)
I got this tablet from my work. I'm trying to unlock the bootlaoder but no sucess... Might asus servers has been down? This tablet's from 2012, so I don't except thaht kind of services/apps using network to unlock/register are working by now?
I read on this thread to remove google account / hard reset the tablet. It didn't helped.
If anyone has somthing to try, i will. May ADB/Fastboot command will help?

[Completed] Unroot HTC One M8?

Hi guys, I've googled high and low and I can't seem to find anything that I a)understand or b) feel is relevant to my situation.
I bought a HTC on ebay, it arrived, I put my sim in and realised it was rooted. The phone doesn’t work on my network, I knew this when I bought it so I bought an unlock code but due to the root, I can’t seem to enter it, it just says no sim inserted.
Ideally I’d like to remove the root, I’m not a technophobe and learn pretty quickly, but I just don’t understand all these different versions of firmware etc.
I followed the unlockr guide and found out my CID is VODAP001 but the main-version is blank so I don’t know which roms or what have you to download.
I’d be happy leaving the rooting as it is if I could enter my unlock code, but I can’t figure out how to do this either. Is anyone able to help me? I don’t know what’s been done to the phone, the seller is ignoring my messages, I can’t return the phone as I (stupidly) missed the description where it stated the phone is rooted.
If it helps, it says im using cyanogenmod version 13.0.201xxxx and I've seen TWRP when booting to recovery mode etc. I've downloaded a few files, used an all in one mod or something from hasoon but as yet, the file system is unchanged.
I've seen something called sunshine which apparently unlocks to any network but as I've just forked out £100+ for the phone, I don't have the £25 the guides say it charges to unlock
Thank you in advance.

Root Sprint Oneplus 7 pro 5g GM1925

So I got this phone recently and I want to root it, but can't find any method with enough information and walk through.
It says "Your device is unlocked" under UICC Unlock. Also the OEM unlocking in the developer option is grayed out. So where do I go from here in order to unlock bootloader and then root? help please!

How to root Sprint Oneplus 7 pro 5g GM1925
Here are the steps that I found, from trial and error, to root Sprint Oneplus 7 pro 5g GM1925:
Disclaimer: I'm new to this. I did it on Windows 10. Maybe there is a simpler, shorter, and efficient way to do it, but I don't know it.
Some errors I did:
1. Unlocking the bootloader in Android 10. I could have done the procedure wrong, but when I tried unlocking the bootloader in Android 10 it didn't work. Yes, I could unlock it, but the phone wouldn't boot to "normal" and the recovery didn't work too; it just stood in a fastboot (if that is what is call) even when selecting start. Meaning I brick my device, but no worries I'm writing this because I manage a way to do it.
2. Updating the phone early in the steps to Android 10.
Steps:
1. Go to https://www.xda-developers.com/what-is-adb/ read and follow. You'll need this later. TIP Remember to select the "Default USB configuration" to "Transferring files" in developer options.
2. Power off your device. Connect the charging cable to the computer but NOT to the phone. On your computer right-click on the windows logo (the logo in the bottom left if you have the taskbar in the bottom). From there select "Device Manager". Hold both volume buttons (+ and -), and connect the charging cable to the phone. While holding the volume buttons, in Device Manager you should see that your phone is registered by a driver with a yellow exclamation mark. Update that driver. Disconnect the phone from the charging cable.
3. Go to https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-7-pro/how-to/sprint-msmdownloadtool-unbrick-t3989841 and follow the steps. In summary, download the file provided and use it. This will format the phone. When it is done do a quick setup, the next step is going to format it again. This step will put the device in Android 9, but do NOT update. Remember to set up the phone for ADB.
4. Go to https://forum.xda-developers.com/on...otloader-unlock-sprint-oneplus-7-pro-t4042145 and follow the steps. In summary download, the file provided and use it. This step will unlock the bootloader. Do NOT update. After boot, remember to set up the phone for ADB. TIP The moment the application screen says is done (the download bar is green) rapidly hold both volume buttons (+ and -).
5. Finally, go to https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-7-pro/how-to/guide-bootloader-unlock-twrp-install-t3940368 and follow the steps/links starting from the part of installing TWRP (the bootloader is already unlocked in step 4). In the link I provided, they'll be a link (the last one) that will let you update the phone, follow the steps layout there.
I hope this helps and works.
So basically what I learned is you have to flash a developer preview of 10. Unlock the bootloader then downgrade back to a stable international and then update and root. Fastboot commands where broken or not recognize in the dev preview so you had to switch up. But the dev prev allowed the oem unlock to be checked

I didn't understand some parts if not all of what you wrote, a bit lost with the terms like developer preview of 10, dev preview, and international (what does it mean in Android). I'm new to this. But what I can certainly affirm is, in an overview and in some way, I downgraded, did everything there: unlock the bootloader and root, and finally update.

Sorry to say, the answer is no. I have the Sprint model too, GM1925. No Dual SIM. (And now, thanks to Sprint AND T-Mobile, no 5G for us anymore EITHER! I'm pissed. But off topic...) See here, quote from Whoareyou, comment #18:

This is incorrect, there is no way to enable dual SIM on the GM1920 or GM1925. This would require a modem.img with the SDX50 dsds configs, which we don't have.
you can however the flash the European 10 update on to the Sprint model, there are issues with Sprint data, but non Sprint carriers work fine.

This will format the phone. When it is done do a quick setup, the next step is going to restore it again.
Hello man. I know it has been a long time and I haven't responded to or help you, but here I am.
In Step 2 you are updating/installing the driver so the Phone can be recognized on your PC. What I can infer from this message is that you already have the driver; that means that you can continue to the next step. If that is not the case -you don't have the driver install- then selected one of the following two links to download the driver: Link #1 https://www.driverarchives.com/pc/hp/bm388aa-abm/231997/qualcomm-hs-usb-qdloader-9008-com4-.html Link #2 https://gsmusbdrivers.com/download/android-qualcomm-usb-driver/
I recommend Link #2. In both, you'll need a program that unzips the file -I recommend 7-zip (https://www.7-zip.org)-. Then run the executable file where you'll install the driver. And definitely after that, you can continue to the next step.
I hope this helps and works.
