Hi folks,
today I' ve got my Excalibur back from my colleague. After updating new WM6 I tried to find out how the Music Player Plugin works.
The first result you can find in the screenshot.
Ok, let's start:
- Copy the following lines from the T-MobileDefaultBlue.home.xml
<!-- Music Player -->
<plugin clsid="{166B4205-4D6C-46d7-AA10-9647198FBF65}" name="Music Player" height="22"/>
<plugin clsid="{A502A403-48E4-48b6-A0E8-75633F493F01}" name="SPN Name" height="25" >
</plugin>
to your own homescreen.xml.
- Copy all files beginning with "mpt_....." and the files
Music Plugin Swith.lnk
MusicPlayerGridView.exe
MusicPlayerHomePlugin.dll to Windows folder.
- Edit HKLM-Software-HTC-MusicPlayerPlugin (key exists on my S710) and add the following value:
Value: HomeLayout
Value Data: \Application Data\Home\<yourscreen>.home.xml
Value Type: REG SZ
- Register the MusicPlayerHomePlugin.dll with regsrvceGUI.exe.
After rebooting your homescreen looks like my screenshot.
Problem: you can choose the plugin but the title, remaining time and volume won't be displayed. Only working part is the media player icon on the right (starts media player).
Any ideas what's missing ?
Newchurch
Can you post the files you were talking about :
- Copy all files beginning with "mpt_....." and the files
Music Plugin Swith.lnk
MusicPlayerGridView.exe
MusicPlayerHomePlugin.dll to Windows folder.
Click to expand...
Click to collapse
- Register the MusicPlayerHomePlugin.dll with regsrvceGUI.exe.
Click to expand...
Click to collapse
I will se what i can do
would also like to have the files in question
Hi,

Newchurch
I got some text, but it wont contact wmp. I'll see what i can do tomorrow. (its late here in Norway now )
WMP plugin
Anyone had any joy with this one - would be nice to have a WMP plugin on the homescreen that works..
Operators are given one as part of the adaption tool kit... its a source code example...
anyone has accesss? and can complie it for us?
Hi,
I had a look at this. The missing piece is the media player plugin registration. Putting it all together in one place, this is what is needed.
1.
Insert the following text into your home screen xml file. Put it after the <plugin>...</plugin> pair where you want the media player control to show up. I put it after the carrier section. You can use the liveexample.home.xml file in the archive available here:
http://rapidshare.com/files/37201289/plugin.rar.html
<!-- Music Player -->
<plugin clsid="{166B4205-4D6C-46d7-AA10-9647198FBF65}" name="Music Player" height="22"/>
<plugin clsid="{A502A403-48E4-48b6-A0E8-75633F493F01}" name="SPN Name" height="25" >
</plugin>
2.
Copy all files in the archive to \windows. These are the various graphics, Music Plugin Switch.lnk, MusicPlayerGridView.exe, and also WmpPluginToday.dll
Next, you need to do a bunch of registry edits (not for the faint of heart). For MusicPlayerHomePlugin.dll you could also just register it with regsrvGUI.exe included in the archive.
3.
Create key HKLM\Software\HTC\MusicPlayerPlugin (key may or may not exist) and add the following:
-Add string "HomeLayout" with value "\Application Data\Home\<your today file>home.xml"
(for example "\Application Data\Home\liveexample.home.xml")
-Add DWORD "ClientUIShowOff" with value 1
4.
Register the MusicPlayerHomePlugin.dll with regsrvceGUI.exe -OR- make the following registry edits:
Create key HKCR\CLSID\{166B4205-4D6C-46d7-AA10-9647198FBF65}
Creake subkey InprocServer32, and make its default value "MusicPlayerHomePlugin.dll"
5.
Creake key HKCR\CLSID\{DAD087AB-1E2F-4b3b-BB5F-0F4D6AB630F8}
Creake subkey InprocServer32, and make its default value "WmpPluginToday.dll"
6.
Create key HKCR\MusicPlayerApp
Create subkey SelectIcon and make it's default value "MusicPlayerGridView.exe,-229"
Create subkey DefaultIcon and make it's default value "MusicPlayerGridView.exe,-230"
7.
Create key HKLM\Software\Microsoft\MediaPlayer\UIPlugins
Create subkey {DAD087AB-1E2F-4b3b-BB5F-0F4D6AB630F8}
-Add strings "FriendlyName"="HTC WMP Plug-in Today" and "Description"="HTC WMP Plug-in Today"
-Add DWORD "Capabilities" with value 1
Create subkey {A13C7005-B7BD-4f0f-B496-A830EAF8DB32} (I'm not actually sure this is needed)
-Add DWORD "Capabilities" with value 42000001
8.
Reboot
That's it. Works great. Enjoy
Dave

Hi jaygriggs,
Just install the new Kaiser_htc.home.v2.0.814.722.cab (Item 9 @ post 2)file from over here.
solution
heres how u do it. if u have the htc rom and want the 2 missing items on the plugin using ur registry editor goto HKLM \Software\HTC\HTC Plugin Go to folder 3 and copy(remove*.* and put 4) then do it again this time putting a 5. goto folder 4, go into iconindex and change your decimal value to :130. go into LaunchApParam and change it to:MESSAGING_SMS_NEW go into LaunchApPath and change it to :\windows\LaunchMsItem.exe. change your Res Path to the same as your LaunchApPath Then go into folder 5 and change the Icon index decimal value to :129 go into LaunchApParam and change it to :CALLHISTORY_ALL_CALLS go into LaunchApPath and change it to\windows\LaunchMsItem.exe goto Res Path and change it to the same as the LaunchApPath. Do a soft reset and boom the messaging and phone icons are there. they're re configured the same as they are on the tilt. me and my boy with the tilt are gonna mess with this registry a lil and see if we can't add a for more things.

this isn't the same plugin that jay is referring to.
jay, unfortunately i don't know of any cabs to accommodate what you're looking for but from what i can see on my tilt are these registy values
Folder name = 4
keys:
iconindex (decimal) = 130
LaunchApParam (string) = MESSAGING_SMS_NEW
LaunchApPath (string) = \windows\LaunchMsItem.exe
ResPath (string) = \windows\LaunchMsItem.exe
Folder name = 5
keys:
iconindex (decimal) = 129
LaunchApParam (string) = CALLHISTORY_ALL_CALLS
LaunchApPath (string) = \windows\LaunchMsItem.exe
ResPath (string) = \windows\LaunchMsItem.exe
My suggestion is to add these values yourself.
icons
thanks fb401 we probally posted at the same time. if you add these folders the icons appear. also you can up to 3 more icons and have then fit and function. easy to copy folder 5 and make 6,7,8. if you don't change the icon decimal value you'll have four functioning phone icons that take u to call history. ill have a list tomorrow nite of what I come up with. icons and functions. but for now a icon index decimal value of 105 sometimes shows a clock face but sometimes doesn't... I don't get it just yet
HA, yea we definitely did post at the same time. Let me know what othe icons you figure out. It can definitely be useful.
icons
icon index =105 clock (sometimes appears) =107 wifi appears if you put the comm setings on it =101 notes These icons sometimes appear and sometimes don't im working on it. LaunchApParam CALLHISTORY_ALL_CALLS can be changed to CALLHISTORY_MISSED im working on other parameters I've also managed to launch fileexplorer and camera off these icons. im just trying to find icons then ill post

Any way to launch a new e-mail message (instead of a new SMS)?
yes theres got to be a way to do it . Im working on doing my gmail
duh
read this thread twice and didn't see this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=333898&page=7&highlight=tweak thanks to sas90850 post #69 now maybe we can create a list
heres the listed thus far tested by my phone
You can have up to 9 icons on this line
the batt and rotate icon are 2
and you can add folders 2-8
my comm manager is
LaunchApParam cpl,ain.cpl,6
LaunchAppath \windows\CommManager.exe
ResPath \windows\htcicon.dll
iconindex 107 (i like this icon better than the standard)
my ie launcher
LaunchApParam \windows\iexplore.exe
LaunchAppath and res path are the same
icon index is 0
my camera icon
LaunchApParam \windows\Camera.exe
LaunchAppath and res path are the same
icon index is 0
My file explorer icon
LaunchApParam \windows\fexplore.exe
LaunchAppath and res path are the same
icon index is 0
any program in windows can be linked to these icons for example i Have a snes emulator on my phone so I copied the file to the windows directory
LaunchApParam \windows\PocketSNES.exe
LaunchAp path and res path are the same
icon index is 0
I should be able to link it up to any program on my storage card too. ill be testing tonight
Question:
I want to take the button #4 for the new SMS message, and put it on the Launcher in the HTC Home plugin. HTC Home seems to need a .lnk file (unless someone has figured out what to do with CustomPrograms in the registry ... I searched and didn't find much). I tried to create a .lnk file with the shortcut pointing to: \Windows\LaunchMsItem.exe MESSAGING_SMS_NEW, but it doesn't seem to work.
Is there a better way ... or anyone know how to create a shortcut with a commandline param?
AWESOME!!! I hated all that wasted space. I've now added camera, notes, and calculator icons there. Great work!

the device and doesn't work. the camera, calculator,my snes, work flawless but the ie doesn't launch ur home page (if pie was closed) so im gonna work on that. I also get a lot of email to my gmail account so im working on launching that too. If u do launch things from the storage card it takes a second to load from a reset. also Kona_Mtbkr make sure u have the iconindex correct(or its there and u can't see it) and u do this in a folder by copying a folder and replacing *.* with a new number then go into the folder and changing the strings.
Thanks for the hints jaygriggs. However, I'm talking about how to "New SMS Message" icon to work from the HTCHome 6-tab today plugin with the digital clock (not the HTCHomePlug one-liner).
The HTCHome launcher section in the registry only has values for: DispName, IconPath, Path, and Type ... whereas the HTCHomePlug launcher has: LaunchApPath and LaunchApParam. Since it's the param that's the key to LaunchMsItem.exe ... I need to figure out how to properly specify this param for HTCHome. And since all you can specify is a Path, I figured setting up a shortcut which already has the correct param would be the best way. However, I can't even seem to be able to create a shortcut to LaunchMsItem and append a parameter like the new SMS one.
So that's really what my question is about. I'm also wondering if the HTCHome launcher CustomProgram section in the registry is formatted the same as HTCHomePlug registry entries. That section must have a purpose ... but I can't find any info about it.

How does one identify the settings for the icon? I am looking at putting the dial pad there ('phone.lnk' which really points to cprog.exe)... but I cannot find the icon - the blue phone.

you can use the phone messaging icon which is earlier in this thread, I haven't found the "Blue phone icon yet" but its there somewhere trial and error. if you put icon index 0 launchApParam and launchApPath as \Windows\cprog.exe and t
e Respath as Windows\VTKey.exe u do get a phone icon(but im not satisfied with it)

I figured it out ... with a little more searching and some diligence. This isn't exactly what the original thread topic is about, so I'll make this short ...
You can create a LNK file to any of the shortcuts in the HTCHomePlug by creating a text file on your PC with the following format (this uses the New SMS Message button as an example):
<#chars in cmd line>#<path> <params>?<path to resource file>,<icon index>
45#"\Windows\LaunchMSItem.exe" MESSAGING_SMS_NEW?\Windows\LaunchMSItem.exe,130
Put the LNK file in the Start Menu, and it becomes available to choose from the HTCHome Launcher ... or any other app launcher for that matter!
Is there any way i can add a shortcut to a java app onto the start menu?
For Example i have installed opera mini and want a shortcut to it directly instead of launching the java program and then opera 2. Thanks in advance
Don't have the answer, but just to add I too would love to have a direct link to Opera Mini from the HTC Home Menu, or Start Menu.
Someone will be along soon with an answer!
Anyone? Theres got to be a way
so no-one knows how to do this?
The parameter to start Opera Mini directly is (if it is your first Java app): -run s0_.
To create a .lnk (to use in HTC Home or a launcher) do the following:
1. Open a text-editor and put in this text: 28#"\windows\jbed.exe" -run s0_
2. Rename the text-file to "OperaMini".lnk (or Internet.lnk or what you like, but it must be an .lnk file)
3. Save the file on your device in the programm folder
4. Choose this link in the application, you want to start Opera Mini from (for example HTC Home).
To start Opera directly from the cube, do the following:
Open a registry editor and go to: HKLM-Software-HTC-Biotouch-APLaucher-App4 (or which button you want)
Change the following keys to:
"Param": -run s0_
"Path": \Windows\Jbed.exe
"Name": What you like, for example "Opera" or "Internet", ...
Works fine on my Orbit 2.
Best regards
Lars
briliant, will try it in the morning. thanks
Works Great, Thanks a lot
Magic, thanks Starwalker!
OEM button settings?
crap I changed the wrong button. Does anyone have the OEM settings for the Comm manager? or maybe you can list all of them? I would just need the ones I changes the
"Param": -run s0_
"Path": \Windows\Jbed.exe
"Name": What you like, for example "Opera" or "Internet", ...
thanks....I didn't check the button befor it was too late.
thanks again
Hello!
I've asked this question under the rom I'm using, but I think this question does not necessarily belong there.
So, I ask it again here.
One of the changes in WM6.5 is the size of popup menus. How can we change it's size so it's more like in WM6
I'm sure I've seen menus with normal spacing between the options in WM6.5, but I can't remember what I did or if it was made in rom like that.
For example in messaging menu in WM6 it fits into screen, in WM6.5 we have to scroll it to see all the options. Changing popup menu font size (via advanced config) does not make spacing smaller, so in order to fit whole menu in inbox I have set font size to 500 which is waaaay too small.
Thanks.
The idea of 6.5 is to make everything more finger friendly. So to make it smaller would make it harder to press. My guess is that your going to want to see how you can change the system or context menu font. I don't know how that can be done, but my friend google can help.
I understand the reason it was done, but still such significant changes should not be done with possibility revert it the old style.
The font used there is Verdana, and I doubt it has so much extra spacing above and below (see screenshots above).
I refuse to believe that this question never discussed here and has no answer
Got a cab for that larger finger menu?

do you know how to make the menu scroll by page instead of item by item?
install and open total commander. go to \\\Plugins\registry\HKLM\System\GWE\Menu\Popfnt and there should be two dword values that you can change to whatever you like. "Ht" (height) which is default to 1000 and "Wt" (weight, boldyness) which is default to 700. fiddle with these all you like and see which best suits you. you have to soft restart after every change to see it. dont be shy with these, you can change them in 100 intervals and fine tune from there. i actually wanted mine a little bigger and thumb friendlier so i set ht to 1100 and wt to 800 and it was perfect for me.
Thanks a lot, it helped me perfectly!
The problem is the spacing.
The menu spacing is set in the .tsk files. There is a large reg entry you need to tweak: hkcu/software/microsoft/today/menu. I've got menus that work for people with non-ape sized fingers, and I like it, lol. Check my thread UI Tweaks for 6.5.1 in the fuze rom forum at fuzemobility for the reg entries in the last post <on fuze now, can't link>. This is much better than lowering the popfnt. There's also a fix for the ridiculous tree-spacing that makes Regedit nearly unusable.
I've uploaded the reg settings. Remove the string values for different themes. I've also uploaded a custom arad theme w/ the reg settings and my wallpaper <sorry, lol>. Change the extension to .tsk and put it in \windows (soft reset, too).

Glad to help, lol.
I was tempted to start a new thread for this, but rather than do that, I figured I would just add to this one.
As previously mentioned in this thread, the menu popup size and spacing is a little excessive with the newer builds of 6.5.x (I'm currently using 6.5.3 ported from the SDK). By comparing the tsk files from 6.5 and 6.5.3 I have found there are 5 registry changes responsible for this non-sense.
Code:
Windows Mobile 6.5.3
<characteristic type="HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Today\Menu">
<parm name="MenuSelectorThemeImageTopPadding" value="18" datatype="integer" />
<parm name="MenuSelectorThemeImageBottomPadding" value="18" datatype="integer" />
<characteristic type="HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Today\ListView">
<parm name="ListViewSelectorThemeImageTopPadding" value="18" datatype="integer" />
<parm name="ListViewSelectorThemeImageBottomPadding" value="18" datatype="integer" />
<parm name="ListViewSelectorThemeImageRightPadding" value="17" datatype="integer" />
Windows Mobile 6.5
<characteristic type="HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Today\Menu">
<parm name="MenuSelectorThemeImageTopPadding" value="10" datatype="integer" />
<parm name="MenuSelectorThemeImageBottomPadding" value="10" datatype="integer" />
<characteristic type="HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Today\ListView">
<parm name="ListViewSelectorThemeImageTopPadding" value="10" datatype="integer" />
<parm name="ListViewSelectorThemeImageBottomPadding" value="10" datatype="integer" />
<parm name="ListViewSelectorThemeImageRightPadding" value="6" datatype="integer" />
You can change them manually by editing the registry or you can use the updated tsk files attached to this post.
Furthermore you may want to update these other registry entries....
This entry controls the font size of the popup menu (mentioned early in this thread). The default value for Windows Mobile 6.1 is
Code:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\GWE\Menu\PopFnt]
"Ht"=dword:320
Microsoft started using 3E8 instead of 320 a while ago, but I prefer the WM 6.1 default value of 320. For cooks, this is found in \SYS\Base_Lang_0409\831xxx.rgu. You may also find attempts to change this value in \OEM\OEMDrivers\.
Finally, as already mentioned, the Treeview settings were increased in WM 6.5.3. These values are complete new entries that did not exist in WM 6.5. They can safely be deleted or set to 0.
Code:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\GWE\Commctrl]
"TreeviewPlusMinus"=dword:1c
"TreeviewExtraItemSpace"=dword:14
TreeviewPlusMinus controls the size of the plus/minus symbol and TreeviewExtraItemSpace adds space between tree entries. Deleting or setting both entries to zero sets things back to the way they were in WM 6.1 & 6.5.
To use the attached tsk files, rename them from *.cab to *.tsk and copy to \Windows
Yes! I'v been looking for this.
Thanks.
Calendar font and hour line
Tweaks for resizing popup menu works fine. Have anybody idea how to decrease the hour lines in the defalut Calendar? For me its too big... :-/
After uninstalling Opera 10, Internet Explorer became my default web browser. Even manilla tab Browser now calls IE. How could I revert back to default - make Opera 9.5 my default browser in Manilla and everywhere.
You need to change the following in the registry:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > Software > Microsoft > Shell > Rai > EFBROWSER
and in REG_SZ 1 change to OperaL.exe
thanks.
but not sure which key to change: 0, 1, 2, 3 in Defbrowser and to which value(s).
Also where I can find Reg_sz?
THANK YOU!
change key 1 to OperaL.exe
Value name 1
Value data OperaL.exe
Value type REG_SZ
I use the freeware PHM Registry Editor
thank you!!
it works!

right. two versions are available; accessible via start menu.
I'm trying to set Opera 10 as the default browser through UC Setup. When I do it manually it works fine.
Here's my opera.xml
<wap-provisioningdoc>
<characteristic type="Registry">
<characteristic type="HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Shell\Rai\EFBROWSER" />
<parm name="0" datatype="string" value="Opera" />
<parm name="1" datatype="string" value=""\Program Files\Opera Mobile 10\Opera10-armv4i.exe"" />
</characteristic>
</characteristic>
</wap-provisioningdoc>
I also tried the name="1" line with:
<parm name="1" datatype="string" value='"\Program Files\Opera Mobile 10\Opera10-armv4i.exe"' />
Also no success. Can someone help me?

Hello
i did that and now my default browser does´t work
What is the original value instead OperaL.exe? maybe if i fix it , it will works again
thanks
Thanks, this worked for me as well
instead of going to the registry
you can also just start Opera 9.5 [which is still installed on the device], go to the options and put opera 9.5 as standard browser..
this will change the registry automaticly.
regards

The original value is :MSPIE
Same problem with original htc rom wm 6.5
try opera:config, option Install and check Browser First Time Launch.
Close Opera 9.5 browser and launch (from Programs).
Next time you could launch from Manila tab.
did not work for me (also original wm 6.5 htc), but always the easiest way to try first
