I have really been enjoying using the new version of Internet Explorer Mobile in WM 6.5. It certainly isn't as fast as Opera Mobile, but I seem to like it a little more. Has anyone else been using Internet Explorer for the most part on their phones with WM 6.5 installed?
I have. I've been resisting installing any other browser with this install.
I'm trying to give the 6.5 version of IE a good chance before installing anything else. So far, so good.
I am as well with my newest test cook. Does anyone now how to access the about screen in the new IE? I know it is supposed to be IE8 mobile but got got some co-workers with the "seeing is believing" mentality.
I use new IE too. It was one of the reasons that I stick with WM6 from the first place.
So far, so good for me too.
There is no About screen. I 've been looking for it before with no luck.
i don't its to slow and buggy for me :[ i haven't used it recently but i prefer opera much more !
I cant change te default browser to IE
Over the years I have refined my browsing to pda pages, (lower graphics and less DL time).
I cannot change the default browser to IE (I dont like Opera) no mater which tweak i use ( I also cant get suggested words to show either).
any suggestions
I am also using PIE included with WM6.5 as my main browser. Before WM6.5 I would use a combination of Opera Mini, IE and Skyfire. Since I switched to WM6.5 I haven't had a need to install Opera Mini or Skyfire.
I'm enjoying the new IE under 6.5 as well. I find it faster and more reliable than Opera, and I like the fact that Activesync 'keeps' my favorites across multiple flashes, etc.
It works really well for me...
It's also pretty cool that embedded flash animations work as well. Heck even Youtube works although the video is choppy. =(
I use it, Opera is definatly faster, but having favs sync'd is really nice. It is a little buggy, but I dont think theres anything running WM 6.5 that isnt a little buggy. Definatly a step up for M$ but im sure they could do alot better, they dont seem to care much about any of their browsers which makes no sense to me being as it is the main gateway for most people running windows to access the internet, but what do I know.
Jumping between hyperlinks in IEMobile on WM6.5
Like another poster here, I've have 'adjusted' my browsing patterns and only browse websites that are "PDA" friendly; such as m.facebook.com, m.zdnet.com, m.engadget.com etc
Unfortunately the new IEMobile does not allow me to jump between hyperlinks and forms... instead its 'scrolling' the whole page.
I've tried AdvancedConfig's option of "disabling" the 4-way navigation but that just doesn't work.
Does anyone have any other ideas?
Everyone seems to rave about Opera, but in my experience there are a number of sites that it doesn't work with properly, which IE 6 copes with fine. OK so IE doesn't have pinch to zoom but it's easier to double-tap anyway.
What do others think and is there an easy way to make IE my default browser?
wtf?! what opera are you using!?
the opera mobil 10 is brilliant and gets 100/100 in acid3. IE does not even start....
i dont know but ie is a piece of **** compared to the opera browser, on ANY website!!!!

Got that part right! Who cares about acid test, unless that is the only site you browse that is...
To download google maps you need to use IE for example. And many sites (such as BBC low graphics) render better in IE. I do use Opera beta 10.2 on a daily basis but it does have its annoyances (put it in mobile view and watch your text run off the screen, but put it in desktop view and the text magically wraps correctly!) as does IE. Neither one works best for all sites.
Oh, and for Christ's sake, Opera can't manage bookmarks! My IE bookmarks sync perfectly to my PC and to MyPhone, that is until Opera starts to eat them...every time I flash I now have to add my bookmarks all over again (or paste back the file from Opera) instead of them syncing as they should.

Just go into options and set it as your default, should work fine (not testing it for you but I remember it working). If it doesn't work for the Sense page just turn that page off and put an IE icon in your quicklinks on your home page.
Skyfire
I have to admit, I prefer Skyfire myself.
Seems to work nice in things like BBC Iplayer, tvcatchup etc.
Works fine on flash 10.
Only thing I would like is pinch to zoom rather than double tap, but it seems nice and quick for me.

Why shout so lound when you don't know what you are talking about.
Do you even know what that test does? Opera Mobiles web performance is outstanding, and the rendering is so much better then in the stupid buggy IE...
Show me 1 website it cannot show correctly, but the IE can, and btw, I downloaded gmaps with my opera....

Errrrrrmm if you can show me Opera 10 running flash videos on the bbc news website I will acept this comment,
BUT until then IE is still the best browser for watching flash video compared to opera.
Aside from decent flash support Opera is nice and fast, but it does crash a lot IME.
Stupid discussion. That's why you can have SEVERAL browsers on WinMo I use Opera for most sites and IE for flash content. Opera runs from Sense and IE from a shortcut on the home screen. And...yes, I also have Skyfire just in case on my HD2
i dont see any FREE app from microsoft is daily useable, MS give us all poor tools with 50% power, ex: office, note, IE, photo viewer, WMP, calculator... look like they stop the develop of MS Voice command
about browser, MS have a browser call Deepfish, but they kill it already.
SO what, no browser really plays flash!
Skyfire does a good job on it, but the experiance is still not really good!
And IE does not even show all image formats...
Opera 10 is much more usable in all view modes. IE6 in mobile view mode doesn't wrap pages as it should, so gets a 1/10 from me.

I beg to differ, in IE on the bbc site I can hold down and enable full screen flash and it plays perfectly in landscape too. Skyfire is too fidly to get it to fill the whole screen but I use it for tvcatchup.com
Although for other sites I use Opera 10.
I had installed dolphin hd browser & find it the best accept that the developers missing out the most important feature of importing bookmarks from other browser, hence i wanted to test firefox4 mobile & opera 11.
Both browser are painfully slow & will open a page in 2-3 mins , none of them let me log on my rediffmail account, same slowness on other sites don't know what is making these 2 excellent browser so slow.
Is there a way out or these browsers are so slow (I cant believe that) my guess is that something is clashing between these browser so I closed all of them restarted the phone & tested individually but still the same slowness making them useless, where as dolphin hd works like a charm but its again useless as I cant import my bookmarks organized in folder & sub folder into it.
May be the mobile view is turned on in the dolphin browser, hence it loads faster, and the other other browsers opens the whole pages.
Did you try opera 6 mini?
Mobile view is off on all three browsers yet not working. I hope dolphin hd is not blocking them. Opera mini supports importing nested bookmarks?
I have been using Firefox mobile for several days now and it has been a bit faster than the stock browser for me. If you are worried about conflicts with other browsers try uninstalling them, but I doubt that is it.
Are any other network connections, like to the market or email, also running slowly?
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA Premium App
I am on 2g so already slow connection compared to 3g but even then dolphin hd, email market opens up 10-20 sec, but firefox simply refuse to open even in 1 min, it opens may be 3-4 mins which was bothering me hence I downloaded opera & that too is behaving the same way so I am concluding that either something is blocking these 2 added browser bcoz stock browser & dolphin are working fine faster as usual.
Cant figure out what is the issue, I need the bookmark to be imported as they are important part of browsing.
Try out Skyfire 3.0, one the only browser that supports Silverlight.
Opera mini is the Best for Slow Internet connections, or Skyfire on 3G would be my choice..
hello guys, I wanna ask you about android gingerbread browser (not specifically for GB, but that runs well) that can browse and download on secure sites with troubled ssl certificates. but I maybe also gonna discuss about opera mobile a lot.
I've tried a bunch of top notch browsers, and Opera Mobile happen to be the closest to perfection.
on the first attempt most browsers fail to load the site, it just trying to load all the time. like trying to do something that they don't know how to do it.
for smarter browsers that notice the problematic certificate, it prompt an action and allow us to browse. but not with downloading. it seems like it only use the ssl-notice-and-allow intelligence to browse and left behind the downloading part. make it looks like a smart-stupid split personality for browse-download activity.
for firefox : F***ING LAG, don't bother trying.
On the other hand Opera Mobile use the intelligence for both activities. if not because of the utter crap download manager, the browser could be the best.
Opera, while developing some of their apps for android all this time, they still have no idea on how the download manager works on android. maybe they still stuck on java j2me environtment mindset.
They have NO DOWNLOAD NOTIFICATION for all of their apps. they also unaware of the android system's slaughtering for apps that running in the background. So when we downloading some files then we leave it for some while, when we go back to the apps there are 3 possibilities :
1 - the download still running good, lucky you
2 - the download interrupted and fail, this will likely to happen
3 - the apps killed and reloaded with failed download, the only special abilities that Opera apps have
The hell? How could I enjoy my multitasking device with these conditions?
any suggestions for good browser out there?
check with downloading idm from this link:

Dear Canvas 2 Brothers,
We all have our favorite browsers for PCs which have their own mobile browsers. But for some reason, the mobile browser isn't that good as the PC one of the same browser.
Our phone lags when using successful PC browsers like Chrome, Firefox etc.
I'm opening this thread to share your browsing experience and the browser you use and also to share tweaks to avoid lag and enable faster browsing speed.
Anything you post will be very useful for a lot of people in our community.

I always keep changing
So far have used Chrome, Chrome beta, Firefox, Firefox beta, Opera, Opera mini, Dolphin, UC, UC mini , Next, Maxthon, Maxthon Mini, One, Ninesky, puffin and of course our default android browser.
The thing i found was Chrome, Chrome beta, Firefox, Firefox beta start good but lag within a week though the history is removed and they occupy more memory.
UC, UC mini where excellent but of recent it behaves like firefox. Dunno why. But the pic resolutions are poor.
Maxthon and maxthon mini were excellent. I thought i met the ultimate thing but no... they too lagged after 2 weeks.
Opera for mobile is very good but they don't behave properly at times.
So, this gets a habit to change it from time to time
UC browser and Maxthon worked quite good for me. I have used Opera, Opera Mini, Firefox, Dolphin etc in past but finally stayed with UC browser. It quite fast when it comes to loading. Though there are always new app in market with some new things which needs to be tried and tested thats how we come to know whats new and good coming.
Maxthon
