Question: how to show BT icon in IconBar? - General Questions and Answers

Some devices like Omnia, don't have led notification.
So, the only way to have info about BT activation should be icon in upper iconnbar (not in traybar, because with manila it is not visible).
Wi-Fi do it. But BT not.
The icon is present in dll (it shows when received a file), but non show when set BT on.
There is a way to make it?

I recently flashed a custom ROM that added this icon and do not like it. It serves no purpose for me (I always have bluetooth on, and clicking the icon does nothing anyway). I can't figure out how to get rid of it.
Searching for "Icon" in the registry did not even hit anything.

i'm not into omnia at all, but there are a few threads dealing with changing taskbar icons, maybe you can find info there about how to add the icon and change its looks.

The OP does not want to *change* the icon, he does not have it at all and wants it there. And I am the opposite, I *have* the icon and want to totally remove it.
It's an icon that shows whenever bluetooth is turned on.
There is some way to turn the bluetooth icon on and off, because the last ROM I had (which was the same WinMO version) did not have the icon, and this one does.
EDIT: Also before anyone asks - I have no bluetooth apps in Windows/Startup, so it is not that.

hehe, it's controlled by some dlls.. but first thing you should do is to download Advanced Configuration 3.3 by Schaps and DISABLE the phone skin
the op needs to do the opposite.

Argh, really? I really like my skin... why would the phone skin affect the bluetooth icon?

you can notice that when you install different dialers, you also get different taskbar icons... that's why with the dialer, some dlls are supplied.

If I disable my phone skin, my dialer is now all busted
If this icon is supplied by some DLL, can I delete the one in question? Or replace it?

try battery status, theres loads of options like having wifi, cellular, and bt icon in bottom tray. From there it shows if its on/off/discoverable ,you can even iniate ad2p from the icon.

I use Manilla2d so I don't have a bottom tray.
I am talking about the status icons at the top.

which device do you have?
i recommend using the new iolite phone canvas.. it has the BT icon with the skin enabled by default..

A: NO, and it never wil be! (sorry I don't like Omnia users, most of them are newbies at WM and ask stupid questions)

And i tryed last iolite phone canvas, but it is QVGA, not WQWGA (omnia is 240x400) so don't show very well.
But BT icon works
So, i have Omnia, i have default Win phone Skin, and i think it's not easy to have the BT icon in iconbar if i don't have a good phone canvas
But the question is: can i use simply the dll and its associate keys for obtain it without change phone skin?

oops, i completely forgot it was an omnia.
I assume you can just apply the dlls..
i didn't deal with taskbar customization too much..
but as i told you, there are 2 threads, mentioned in an earlier post, you can find many icons and guidance there..

So... no one knows how to remove this icon if present? Maybe i should start a new thread with a better title.

I"ve also been trying to figure out how to get rid of the bluetooth symbol...

Remove ActiveSync Icon when connected...

Hello all,
Ok, I've searched and found plenty of great information on these forums. You guys and girls rock!
My question is about removing icons from the tray - I have removed the battery, wireless / comm manager icon, but have found that ActiveSync pops an icon down in the tray for me whenever in cradle and I'd like to remove that.
Ultimately, I'd like to disable any icon appearing down there.
Thoughts?
TIA!
It's not working actually...
The tray is removed for sure, but AS keeps putting its icon there somehow when started...
I believe it is present on WM6 only... Anyone come up with an idea how to get rid of this, please?

How to show tray icons

On my 8525 the tray icons (battery, comm mgr) were displayed by default (with the horz line above), on my Tilt, they're gone, except when connected through activesync. Anyone knows the reg key to get the tray to show up again by default? (couldn't find it anywhere)
Under the System --> Today option on the "Items" tab you should see the HTCHomeplug ... check it and you should have the icons you're looking for I believe.
This is assuming you're running the AT&T ROM. If you're running the HTC ROM I can't recall if it is installed by default, if not you'll have to find the cab for the Homeplug and install it.
Cheers,
Dave
yes, but this is today plugin and it do not supply tray icons.
i am looking for activation tray icons too, but looks like not working?
Yeah the windows directory is missing the powertray.exe file!!! So to get the power icon in the tray you need unzip the attached file and place it in the \windows folder. If you create a shortcut to this file in\windows\startup, the battery icon will load on startup in the bottomtray.
hey, man, thx! you are my hero
is the process of activating rotate icon and comm manager the same?

I would assume so... have you looked at the registry? I know from my Hermes to show the comm manager it´s like this..
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Services\WirelessMgr]
"Keep"=dword:00000001
But...If you have no joy then let me know I´ll have a look when I´ve finished lunch.
ee, comm mgr reg tweak not working
btw: enjoy your lunch!
Does any one know if there is a way to show a headset icon in the tray so you can tell if your headset is actively connected? I know I can hit the phone key to see if it's connected but it would be nice to be able to see it on the Today page. Thanks.
What I did is to set the Comm Manager to one of the soft key buttons, with the Configuration Tool. Now I have PocketCM in one, and "Wireless" (Comm. Mngr) in the other one.
I am also looking for how to get the battery and commanager back to the status bar on the bottom
I started a new thread there http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=336239 as this is more suited as a general Kaiser question. I also researched it a bit more. the powetray.exe provided here seems an old version from WM5 most likely. I am looking for the new WM6 style tray I used to have on my hermes which gives you both new battery look and comm mgr icons.
This will add the icons back plus allow you to add shortcuts to other apps
Can anyone may be help me with HIDING those icons? =) I currently have Card Export installed and running, and it adds its own icon to the tray, but I have no need in that. The problem is, that when I turn tray client off (in card export settings), it switches back to ActiveSync mode and I have manually to start CE to mount my flash card as windows removable drive. Any solution?
(I could not make latest WM5torage work for me)
UPDATED:
Argh, resolved myself =) I just mount the card in CE and quit it. It will release the card till I insert the cable. If I pull it out - card is automatically released. Sweet. =)

Volume Icon

Hi,
Does anyone know if there is a way to get rid of the volume icon in the task bar?
A registry setting would be preferable to installing an app.

Agree - annoying waste of space, In fact would be good if there was some kind of menu to select between all the icons you want to have displayed / hidden
I have the same question regarding...battery icon
I'm using WKTASK so battery indicator is shown as small line just above the taskmenu - it's perfect for me. I can exchange battery for clock via QuickMenu but have no idea how to get rid of them both.
Regards
B.

I second this. I think an app or anything else that works should contain options for all icons. I would think they would all be treated the same for flagging on and off.
anyone shed any light on this?

Additional Taskbar Clock

Hi All,
I have spent some time lookinf ofr an application and so far have been unsuccessful.
I am trying to find a clock, that could be placed on the top taskbar of WinMo 6.1.
The only application I know of that has a similar functionality is KBattery, whoch is a very old and ugly application.
I know that probably Wisbar Advance has this functionality, but the application is too much of a memory hog to install it just to get a clock. I have a nice battery icon showing percentage of battery and would not want to trade it for a clock instead, so I need an additional clock. I tried setting up both battery and clock on taskbar, but because I have the custom icons it does not work.
Does anyone know of such an application? Can anyone make one?
It would need to have similar to KBattery ability to be moved around taskbar.
Thanks in advance
Szadzik
Try P-bar. I have it installed with the clock and memory showing.

Anyway to move it around taskbar?
I opened it and then it covered the battery I cone that I do not want coevered and after a few operations the taskbar disappeared completely. Only soft reset helped.
Any other suggestions?

I don't think there is a way to move it around. It runs in the background, I have it assigned to one of my buttons, so I can activate it. If you tap on the upper right hand corner, it will show up again depending on how you set it on settings.

I played with it for a few hours and it definitely is not what I am looking for. Ugly as hell and even worse, cannot be moved.
Thanks for the suggestion.
I don't know why you called pBar ugly, but it can show you both time and memory, both time and battery, both time and battery percent, etc...
May be you need a battery indicator that can be moved, rather than the clock. Here is a screen shot of mine. I am using a free battery indicator "ARIEL BATTERY" from this site. I used pBar to show both time and available main memory. All the information and controls I need on the today screen.

Right,
I have a nice icon set installed and do not wnat to have it covered by pbar, that's the only reason I do not like it. I want it in the middle of my taskbar not on the right side.
Hi,
Try Quick Menu 2.8. It has the features you are looking for.

Thanks, I will try that.
EDIT: It is a very nice menu for WM, however it only shows an additional battery on the taskbar, no moving it around though.
I am still looking for a CLOCK that will be shown on the taskbar and can be moved around it, to be positioned somewhere in the middle.
o stick with KBattery

How to stop "Bluetooth On" Notification?

I have been seeing this for a long time whenever I have BT on, which is always. And it's pretty annoying: I have to press left "softkey" then dismiss, before being able to get to contacts.

You must have a Bluetooth Notifier cab installed. I had one installed so it would add the BT icon to the taskbar, but then it also added that notification.
Not sure if there's a way to disable the notification, I just ended up uninstalling it.

This is also a side effect of the Tachi Dialer. Another reason I'm using the Warhawk Dialer.
(though I'm sure that's not the issue in this case, someone else might be wondering about it, as I once was)
try this Bluetooth Warning Notification Option cab It was posted by NRG in a thread for his rom. It adds the Bluetooth Warning Notification in Sounds & Notifications.
it is a bit annoying, that i have to have a couple of presses to get to my contacts with the notification thing on. and i don't recall installing anything on my phone that has to do with BT
