HTC Task Manager enable? - General Topics
How can I enable htc task manager on my
Sprint HTC touch the "home screen" after i installed the latest version of manila 2d
on the right hand corner>
any help?
anyone?
Look for a cab for task manager 2.1 build 34837.5
Also make sure in the settings you have 'show quick menu on today' ticked.
Sorry to kick this old topic, but I have the same problem.
Show on Today screen is ticked, and when I disable M2D it does show. Just not when M2D is active, so I guess the problem is in M2D.
Does anyone happen to know what the apparent benefits are of not having an exit function on apps that run on WM? It seems odd that you should have to go into task manager and close all the apps you're not running.
Probably a very noob question but still.

Problem with Tilt XDA-Live v 1.0? (Task manager not working)
I'm using the Tilt XDA-Live v 1.0 ROM. The top right icon that lets you see running programs appears to bemissing. Tapping the top right blank space reveals no menu. It's impossible to go back to an application after it has been minimized -- unless you re-launch the program icon which in turn brings the program back to the foreground where it was previously running. Programs do not exit, they keep running -- so somehow this menu must be disabled? Was it something that is done by the postinstall provisioning on the ATT rom? Which cab is needed? Fig 1. Screenshot showing nothing next to battery icon. With stock ATT ROM you would see a menu here with your running applications..
THis not a problem. The XDA-Live Roms are all clean or minimalist Roms which means they've been striped of most add-ons. This includes HTC Task Manager. Everything that was removed is avaliable as cab files here.
[Q] Programs Won't Close!!!
after I installed about 5 programs on my sprint touch(official 6.1) programs don't close with X. I've gone into the settings and it is on close with X but that is just minimizing it. and even if I hold x it doesn't close. I know this isn't much info but Im on my touch right now so that's why. oh yea and I can post all my installed programs if necessary.
You need to get together with this guy and trade devices. Sorry, just joking. Anyway, make sure you don't have any programs installed that have control over the X button. Such programs take-over the X-button and can mess with HTC Task Manager. WKTask is a popular programs which does this.
the only thing like that that I have installed is like another htc task manager
well um since i have no help yet im bumping. and i just uninstalled the htc task manager that i got from the manilla stuff and now the drop down box doesn't even show up on the Today screen. And X still will not close programs, just minimize them, except now i have to go to settings to exit them
I think you have to long hold x to close (not just tap) tap minimizes
no I have the settings in task manager set to tap x to close. and I have tried holding x and it doesn't do anything. also if you know a registry key that has to do with it please say so
bumppppppp
Had the same problem with wm6.1. Solved this with "HTC x-button v1.5". Maybe this will help you.
oh wow thanks thanks thanks for this.
HTC Task Manager icon missing
Hi. I'm running Manila 2D 19 and I have HTC boot launcher, task manager, and quick menu installed. I believe those are all the programs I need for it to work, but the top right corner is just blank. I did a search and found people referring to an option under settings --> task manager --> buttons --> enable in quick menu? But I don't have that option. Weird thing is that it works fine with Manila 2D 22. Any suggestions? Thx.
I have the same problem, I searched alot in the forms for a solution without getting good resluts. Can anyone help with this issue? I have HTC Cruise 2 with WM6.1.

Solution Normally you can find in your HTC Phone the following setting: Settings/system/task manager/button/enable the "X" button to end running/end programs by tapping "X". if you cannot find task manager in Settings/system/,that's because the chef didnt cook it into the rom. The solution for missing Task Manger Setting: if there is no Task Manager setting, then you need to download Touch X Taskmanager.cab, install, use resco explorer to search TaskManagerApp.exe in Windows (in my wm6.1,the shortcut dont appear in Startup menu),open it,and in Buttons, enable end programs by tapping "X". Need to reset to take effect. Touch X Taskmanager.cab can be downloaded in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=584415
Thanks, mine disappeared too, have no idea how? lol. Works now!

Closing program help~
Hi, anyone know how i can set my Topaz so that when I press x on the top right corner it closes the program and not just hide it in the background? I was able to do this in settings somewhere with the previous official 2.1 rom, but I just changed to the new 2.53.709.3 official rom and I can no longer find the settings to do this. Can anyone help me out?

slajdas said: I don't have those settings in the latest official ROM? Click to expand... Click to collapse If you are missing the settings UI (if you click on StartMenu\Settings and it brings you to the Manila settings tab), install this cab.
none of these apps appear to work, i have installed both, can find how to open the show settings app and the taskman 2.1 installes and loks great but it doesnt close the apps when i click x. i have set it up to do this also. help!! pfone is running like a dog with 2 legs with all the apps open all the time.
First, the Showsettings app is a registry tweak that will enable your settings menu from the start menu instead of taking you to the settings tab in Manila. Do not open it, install it from your device, its a a cab file. Secondly, if you're on a 6.5.3 ROM where the start menu button is on the bottom bar, the taskmanager is disabled. An alternativre solution as I previously mentioned would be to use QuickMenu which has a built in taskmamager and is accessible from the left side of the top bar.
[MOD] HTC Task Manager link in Notification Enhancement WM6.5(.X) [May/26/2010]
Alright guys it's been a while since I contributed much of anything to the forum but I'm feeling generous today. What we have here is a way to use the HTC Task Manager with WM6.5.X. (WILL also work with WM6.5 - See post 3) In the HTC Huashan OEM Package leak, the newer Notification Enhancement package has a link to the MS Task Manager built into it. This enables you to quickly access the MS Task Manager without having to browse through the settings on your device. What I did: 1. Opened up notificationmanager.dll with a hex editor. 2. Searched for "taskmgr.exe(MS Task Manager)" and change it to TaskApp.exe 3. Searched for "Task Manager" string and "Broke" the checksum for the HTC Task Manager(this allows for the Task Manager link in the notification enhancement to exist even if HTC Task Manager is present) 4. Made a duplicate of TaskManagerApp.exe from HTC Task Manager and renamed it to "TaskApp.exe" 5. Added "TaskApp.exe" to system exclusive in HTC Task Manager 6. Disabled "TodayX" so task manager will not overlap clock on today screen The result - You click the title bar on your device to launch the Notification Enhancement and now when you click on "Task Manager" you will launch the HTC Task Manager instead of the MS task manager. This allows you to add apps to exclusive and also set apps to close when you hit the X or back button on your device instead of just minimizing them. After I was finished making all the changes, I cooked them in to test. Success!! Everything worked exactly as I expected it to. Seeing as how pleased I am with my results, I present to you, my modded packages to be cooked into your ROMS. CAB FILE RELEASE NOTES:: I also uploaded 2 separate cab files. One for WM6.5 and one for WM6.5.x. Please be sure to download the correct version for the ROM you're using. If either Notification Enhancement or HTC Task Manager already exists in the ROM you're using then installation might fail. This happens because the Notification Enhancement or Task Manager Services may already be running. If this happens, you'll have to do the following: 1. Delete the following keys from the registry: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Services\NOTIFICATIONMANAGER] [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\Shell\Notification\OEM] [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\HTC\BootLauncher\Services\TaskManager] 2. Soft-reset your device 3. Try reinstalling the cab again. ______________________________________________________________ I hope you enjoy the fruits of my labor just as I have. You can find everything attached below. (Special Thanks goes out to kimi_sae_ireba who helped to better explain the hex editor)

Installed the 6.5 cab on miris 6.5 ROM. The HTC taskmanager is accesable using the quick menu on the today screen however it breaks the notification manager and only default windows bubbles pop up when pressing the task bar. Uninstalled it and everything is back.
