Im having problems rooting my phone, already have thread open :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=478665
? is, can wm be installed on my g1. don't necessarily want to do it, but I need more access to my phone than I have, and I can't seem to downgrade to RC29.....
No WM cannot be installed on it, and why did you open a new thread to ask this question when you could have asked it in the original thread?
I'll say it before a moderator can
thread closed
Nevermind. No you can't do that.... yet

How STUPID can you be? Did you notice the third thread in this forum, called a STICKY, to make it appear at the TOP, so that EVERYONE reads this FIRST before posting a DUMB question asked one MILLION times.
@esackbauer: Well said!
Heres one important lesson for all noobies:

;-)
That's a good one.
Hi everyone.
I started this thread, because i rly wanna try to build my own ROM.
I ll base it to O2 German XDA neo ROM and just remove the useless stuff.
As informatik i think i will manage this, just need any person who tells me how to beginn.
Here are my current questions for beginning:
- ROM includes ext rom also?
- How to "backup" my ROM (cause i want to save and need the files to edit them)
- How about OS Rom? I also need to edit it? (dont think so, only wanted to ask
- Wich tools i ll need to edit the ROM (extract/modify/repack)
- Its a G4 model, i need to unlock it before i can backup the roms? (tried with aWizard without unlock, only ext ROM was backuped)
- What else i need to know!?
Would be really nice, if any person who already made a own ROM could give me some start advise/information. Would prefer a German guy, cause its more complicated in a forgein language, but dont have to. Also it would be really nice if he could communicate over ts2, or jus ICQ/MSN etc to me, cause its just faster as over forum.
If i done, i ll write an enlish+german howto thread about this.
thx to all who wanna help me,
mfg s0urce

Hello, please stop starting 3 and more new threads in a row with questions that have been answered already in other threads. Please try searching the entire forum first.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=249836
1) this is only a part of this, but ok, its a beginning thx.
2) new thread for new topic seems to me be usefull
3) the topics are not really the same
4) in this thread u linked its not talked about prophet, but there are own prophet roms, so any1 else must made experince with this tools particularly for prophet
5) i searched a person, who i can contact ... not an old dead thread

Try reading the wiki, it will answer some questions you asked
I will be updating it later when i'm done creating my version of aku 3.3
Hi guys,
So I downloaded 2 Roms of 6.1 found in this forum (the one from Dr Martin and the one from fireburned)
Now before flashing I have a question about the USPL.
I bought my phone factory unlocked. Do I still need to run that procedure before changing the rom?
Secondly, how do I backup my current ROM? (in case of it going bad)?
Thanks
mystical thing called search function
my recommendation, YES! but if you had used the search, you would had found out the answer yourself.... well, we all where new to this too, but a little bit of interest on the matter is really helpfull if you want to learn about it. asking "already-hunderts-of-time-anwsered" questions is just too lazy.
sorry, if i'm a little rude at you, but in the last time such question where asked just too much... folks, this is a forum, not a hotline!!
for your second question, do a search, and you'll found out why you don't need to backup the rom. if you still want to backup after this, if think, you'll find the answer on how to do it in the wiki...
If there is a SHIP ROM for your carrier, no real reason to backup since you can revert to this.
You will most likely need to use uSPL to temporarily SuperCID your device to allow it to flash any ROM as they are CID-locked. Unlocked simply means it does not have a network/SP lock on it.

I understand, but if it's something that comes up often, maybe the mods should make a static post about it? Thats usually to avoid ppl asking the same questions all the time..
Thanks for your input though
good point about the sticky. or we could add it to the wiki, i'll see what i can do in the next few days, but anyone is invited to contribute too (now i'm gettin' lazy, hihi)

Same situation here and I had to run the USPL proc to get the new ROM onto my device.
Thanks for all the input
I actually followed Dr Matin Gonzo's guide to update to his rom and it worked perfectly,
I even got to backup my old rom (using the wiki + the SDA Unlock tool)

I don't mind helping you, let me know what you need!
Hey guys, got a little noobish question to ask. I recently flashed my Kaiser phone with someone’s custom ROM, but it does not include Windows Live Mobile/Messenger. I wanted to know if I can install this separately myself without having to cook up my own custom ROM.
PS. Sorry if this is posted in the wrong section of the forums.
Edit: My apologies, I managed to find a similar thread issuing the same question and a solution to go with it:

I was just interested in knowing if anyone has yet found a way to get cwm working correctly on the samsung t959v since the last thread, on the "cwm not working" discussion? Some have said you can flash it through rom manager as the original vibrant and it works .. is this true? Any word on the time were looking at before it is available?
the reason i created that thread was to keep questions like this from cluttering the android development forum. i will update that thread as soon as we get CWM running CORRECTLY for our device.
mod please delete this thread or move to general questions.

Not this again. If you have really read the threads you would already know the answer to this.
