Hi,
I have a Cruise and I would like to use iGo8 but after each soft reset I need to run a GPS program such as HTCGPSTool, otherwise iGO8 freeze on startup ( connecting to the GPS module ). Does anyone have a solution?
rgds
Which version of iGO 8?
I have tested diferents versions 8.0.0.41506, 8.3.1.57021 and 8.3.2.64873, It's the same problem
I have seen some posts (2 or 3 from diferents forums) refering this problem but no solution.
After an Hard-Reset, the problem is still here.
My rom is the Orange France Rom 1.29.73.2 FRE, and the radio is 1.58.32.33.
Igo-8 reset
before you soft-reset ; just minimize igo-8 and you start without any problems.
Just try it .
thanks xdawis, but by soft-reset i mean turn-off then turn-on the phone. So your solution does not work .
Ps : AGPS is disabled.
Ok , as I know that I am not alone in this case I post my solution, because I found one!
I update my cruise to M-Amine 2.0 FINAL rom with RADIO 1.59.42.23 included and it work nicely now .
I hope it will work forever...
Disable A-GPS in registry ..

Hello,
i recently installed the htc custom rom (1.25.405) on my device. after install all was great, but after some time i began having trouble enabling the wifi from comm manager. whenever i press the wifi tab in the comm manger wifi keeps staying off. i had the same problem on my wizard and there the solution was enabling the wifi preload from the registry (HKLM->Comm->TNETWLN1->Parms). these string dont exist on the cruise.
does anyone know of a fix to this problem or how to enable the wifi preload on the cruise ?
Try your luck at HKLM\Comm\TNETW12511\Parms
Olioaglio
hey Olioaglio,
thanks for your replay. tried looking there already.
usually there were two strings needed changing:
HTCPreloadStatus-->dword, decimal 1 (standard 0)
PreloadWifi-->dword, decimal 1 (standard 0)
cant seem to find the equivalent inside \TNETW12511\parms.
Soulution found:
HKLM\Comm\TNETW12511\Parms\HTCPowermode=1
Seems like i spoke too soon. the wifi problem was resolved for a while and then came back.
i flashed the black widow skinny v.2.5 rom and again the wifi worked for a while until it stopped enabling (when i press the wifi button in the comm manager it will turn on and immediatly off). i tried flashing the bepe 0.65 rom and even the latest radio rom (1.58.25.14) but nothing helps.
does anybody have an idea ?????
Hi, I have the same problem; wifi is always disabled.
I tried to modify the key:
HKLM\Comm\TNETW12511\Parms\HTCPowermode=1
and it seems to work ... but after only 10 minutes, I tried, it is still disabled.
When I click on Comm.Manager to able Wifi, it load a few seconds and after it is still off.
ROM is 1.24.408.1 ITA, original.
Radio is 1.58.21.23, original.
Thanks
Yep, I had the very same problem from the beginning until I installed Bepe's Rom v.64. Then I installed Goodlink for work and that ruined it again.
Sounds to me like some software conflicts somewhere that need to get fixed...
Anyway, you can try Bepe's latest ROM. Just don't install that piece of rubbish called Goodlink.
Well it seems that it is indeed a program conflict, i have tried to disable each process running until i found the culprit, it was the Pocket controller loader, after disabling it wifi would disable without any problems, lets see how lost this will last...
would installling WMWifiRouter stuff up the wifi. I have a stock polaris and havent upgraded the rom. Wifi was working fine, even after I installed WMWifiRouter. Then after about a couple of weeks, wifi just would not come on at all. But strangely, then i tried to fire up the WMWifiRouter, it would go up to a point past saying "WLAN on" and then stop at "Waiting for ICS".
In the end, I had to hard reset but have been afraid to re install WMWifiRouter. I was using a .92 version i think but now it's payware and I havent got the new one either.
Jackinabox - how do I disable the processes like you did?
thanks
Hey arul,
you can download schap'sTaskmanger here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=1700898
or here for Taskmgr v.2.7 (not the latest there is version 2.9 somehwere out ther but i cant seem to find the link, but this one will do the trick) :
http://rapidshare.com/files/12973974/TaskMgrv2.7_WM2005_upxed.zip.html
thanks jackinabox. will give it a try.
Hello all,
does anyone solved the WiFi problem?
it seems to be a program conflict try to find the program that causes it by enabling the running program processes on your pda.
hmm thanks promissed new ROM update from HTC is really needed
Hi folks !
I have a strange issue with my T7272. I have just installed Igo 2008 the last edition, beeline gps and GPS info to look after my GPS com port but nothing !
I tried to use google map but nothing at all ! I can try each port it's always the same problem, no gps detected...
I succeeded one time in updating through quickgps but since many days I can't anymore. It seems to dowload data and at 100% it says "Connection failed, try later" or in french "Echec de la connection. Veuillez essayer plus tard".
It won't work even with activesync.
I had the External GPS windows stuff enabled on com 4 with hardware port at "none" and 4800 for the speed. Enabled or disabled, it changes nothing.
What's your port conf ? Maybe mine wasn't well configured by HTC ?!
ROM 1.90.406.5 FRE
Date : 08/20/08
Radio Version : 1.02.25.19
protocol V: 52.33.25.17U
Try to start Beeline and Autodetect GPS...
As you can see,the internal GPS is connected to COM4,same as your external set. Maybe there is a conflict.
Yeah that's the point neither beeline nor igo can find the right port. It seems that you're using microsoft gps adapter. What's your hardware conf ?
I've also read that windows sip cab could interfer with the gps. I've tried to uninstall it but still nothing.
For the moment I'm using my old bluetooth gps receiver, it works great but I'm worried about my raphael internal receiver...
No one have had such problems?
When I first bought my TP, I had the same issue. After upgradind the radio and to a custom rom, I have never had the same problem again.

Interesting ! What's your rom version? I thought having the latest one.
No one tried to use his gps directly, without the "external GPS" adapter? then is it always com4?
My Rom was 1.90. and my radio was 1.02.25.19. I have upgraded to radio 1.02.25.19 and I have tried 5-6 custom roms ever since with no problems.
I think that my drivers are dead or for some reason there is a conflict or a bug in the registry. I'll backup all my stuff and make a hard reset...
Maybe I won't have to send my touch pro to HTC...
Wait and see !

How was this fixed for you, docmorphe?
Did you clear the gps data with the HTC_CleanGPSData.cab? Did you use the HTC_GPS_Tool?
I would have tried them before HR !!!

I've searched the forum but I can't find any similar problem for Polaris.
I recently upgrade my Polaris into WM6.1 official ROM.
Everything looks fine until a few days ago my Garmin,Google Map & QuickGPS start working improperly.
All of my GPS software can't find any GPS device.
It just blank,no satellite signal at all, even after a few hours.
I've tried many GPS tools to analyze but all useless.
I've tried to recover from my Sprite backups but even the first backup with working GPS state can't solve the problem.
So I decided to Hard Reset.
It worked,but not for long...
The same problem occurs so I try to analyze the cause.
The cause is invalid program behavior :
WM Error Reporting
CE-Star
...and some other software built for older WM
The BIG Question is....why & how?
Why some other older software works why some other not.
Why newer software can also cause this ??
How to solve this problems ??
I hope someone here can help me solve this problem
You have problem because old software is not compatible with WM 6.1
I'm sorry to tell you that you did not search well, because all kinds of trouble with 6.1 are described in this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=411883&page=13
My search keyword is "GPS problem" & I can't find anything related with Polaris...
...and even that thread only mention GPS not work well or slow.
My problem is GPS not working at all after a few days of use & after installing several apps (new & old).
(CE-Star & WM Error Reporting is a new apps)
BTW,it never happen when I use my old ROM which is the official WM6.0 ROM
I've installed many old software (for 2002,2003,WM5) & I never get any problem with my old ROM.
Only about a week I use the new ROM (official WM6.1 ROM) I get this problem (GPS inactive).
one more symptoms is sometimes my GPS LED signal turned on by itself right after soft reset.
That's why I assume it is WM6.1 BUG...
Any other solution...please ?

This is not due to WM 6.1 - it never happens to me.
However, I don't know what is cause of your problem. Are you sure that there is no hardware error?

I'm sure of it.
The GPS is fine if I install nothing except GPS software (garmin & google map).
When I forgot to disable the WM Error Reporting & once it report an error....the GPS stops working.
That's why I disable WM Error Reporting.
So, if there is only Garmin soft & Google maps there is no GPS error?
Then this could be a software conflict.
I'm afraid that you have to do installation of other software you use one by one, on try-untill-it-fails scheme. Start with software which is most important to you... i.e. Total Commander, Skype, S2U2...

How can a software conflict caused a Hardware malfunction...
That's why I call it WM6.1 Bug.
Software (non driver) conflict must not caused hardware malfunction.
I've done that 5 times already (5 times hard reset)...& is going to be 6
I'm tired of doing that.
I can't restore my backup bcoz the problem is persisting.
I hope anyone of you can help me with another solution
Hi,
have you tried to look at the data coming from the GPS hardware, for example with the HTC GPS Tool
You will be able to see better what's happening than using nav or mapping software.
HTH
Kim
BTW the GPS hardware in my Orbit 2 works *much* more reliably than the same hardware in my Ignito/Diamond and IMO makes the Orbit 2 an all round better machine, I conclude that the problems with the Diamond are due to a poorly implemented antenna.
@Bodisson, have you returned your Polaris to WM6.0? I rashly upgraded to 6.1 and I'm suspicious that it's causing some problems, e.g. with biotouch freezing etc. I'd be interested to discuss

...and that include HTC GPS Tool, some other GPS tools.
The result is a blank data, not even a weak signal.
Usually when my GPS works,at least it shows weak signal in Garmin (when not in open space & of course no fix).
But when it's "dead" (like just now....6th time already & just Hard reset to make it work again) no signal at all & google map even tell me that I don't have any GPS attached.
O.K. - Then how about GPS Cycle Computer which can use its own custom internal DLL to bypass the winmo DLL.
I guess if that doesn't work then maybe your internal antenna has come adrift (do you have an external antenna to try) or the hardware is faulty?
EDIT: "I've tried many GPS tools to analyze but all useless" You haven't told us which tools you tried, they aren't useless, you *may* have a hardware fault!

I'll try that...thanx
BTW,i said "it was useless" becoz it can't solve my problem...all stated the same : no GPS signal & even no GPS at all.
about the tools....sorry...my bad...
I've tried at least 2 tools & 3 GPS apps.
Tools : HTC GPS Tool & GPS Toggle.
Apps : Garmin XT,Google Maps & Palringo (locator).
About hardware fault...everytime I hard reset it work.
...so I don't think it's hardware fault.
and also Quick GPS always reporting connection error when the GPS stop working.
I've tested the connection & there is no problem with the connection.
I also tried connecting it with a DSL connection & still connection error.
This error never happen when my GPS work.
At last I think I know what cause it & how to prevent it happening.
After some experiments & analysis, I can conclude it that the cause is Registry Bug.
Everytime I Install many new software & didn't give them enough time to load the registry the same problem happened.
To prevent that from happening I install the other software 1 by 1 & give them time to load the registry properly about 30 sec - 3 minutes & the problem is FIXED
There is likely no problem when the software I installed did no registry changes (at least according to my experiments).
As I wrote in post #6 - software conflict.
BTW, QuickGPS does nothing with GPS hardware - it just updates satelite data. It's error is regarding connectivity to internet!
But, I'm glad that all is working now.

I don't think it's a software conflict
As I mentioned before, the problem only occurred when I install many apps all at once (which i usually did )
The registry entries of all apps were queuing on the memory before all can be loaded & that caused the problem (GPS down).
All the apps I mentioned before causing the problem because it did a lot of registry modifications (but I don't know with WM Error Reporting).
As I installed more & more apps with many registry modification, without waiting for the registry to load, the problem occurred.
Now I can install all apps perfectly (1 by 1 with delay about 30 sec - 3 min every installation)
About QuickGPS...
I know that it's only download the GPS data & has no connection with the Hardware.
...but it help me realize that QuickGPS is also accessing registry.
When many new registry queuing to be loaded,QuickGPS can't access the registry properly & prevent it to update the data.
Thanx for replying anyway
Hi!
I have a TP with a WM 6.5 ROM and I installed the application SmartLock 1.7b.
It's a great application and it makes me save a lot of battery!
The only problem is that when TOMTOM is running it locks me the screen after a few secs, since there is activity (just driving) and then suspend the device (and when I turn it back on I loose signal).
I uninstalled Smartlock and there is no problem... So, I was wondering if you have similiar problems with TOMTOM and Smartlock... and how to solve it (I already went to TT preferences and changed the safety ones)!
Thanks in advance!

Hello,
I have the same problem to you .
Yes, it's painfull ;x
Hello, i have an HTC Cruise P3650 (Polaris) with M-Amine_2.0_ITA_FINAL ROM and Murata Radio Rom (1.58.21.23)
The Rom and the GSM signal is very good, but have problem with GPS fix.
I tried to fix the Gps also with Htc Gps Tool following the procedure, but the fix with TomTom or Igo8 is very quick only the first time, when i put Off the Pda or made a second soft reset, the fix return very slow (over 20 min.)
Please tell me how to resolve this problem or which Radio Rom i must to use to have a quick Gps fix every time and not only the first time i need use the Gps with TomTom or Igo8.
The version of TomTom is 7.915 (9196) Driver Gps v1.20
The version of Igo8 is 8.3.2.64029
I wait your answer, thank you very much.
Hmmm, sounds like problem with Radio version or QuickGPS not downloading data.
But first time I hear that Murata has problems of this kind (or any kind).
And even if QuickGPS is not downloading data, fix should be faster.
Confused, I must admit...
Hello, none have some answer to resolve this problem ?
Please help me. Thank you.
hello,
I use a lot of GPS and after trying several radio rom, I have the 1.65.30.09 with the Roma AMINE. The fix is very fast and consumption is weak, I am very pleased with this radio
rechercher
Hello, i have tried the Rom Radio 1.65.30.09 but the GPS not fix, i tried also to install the original HTC ROM but not fix.
I think that not erase all the information inside the ROM when i change from cooked to original or also from cooked to cooked, is possible ?
There is a right procedure to make a total format of the data, driver and return to default original configuration ?
Thank you, bye.
