Samsung Omnia I900 - General Questions and Answers

Hi all,
Well, I have been the proud owner of a Samsung Omnia (my first smartphone) for just over a week now, and it seems all I have done ever since is read hundreds of pages about tweaks, ROMs and applications. I'm learning fast though!
But... I have a few questions
Version: i900DXHJ1
I bought this phone here in China where I live, and the store owner kindly set it up in english for me. I am guessing that he did this by flashing it, but I noticed that some settings, like the internet ISP, are set to the Phillipines. Am I using a version of the firmware for that region? I'm English, but living in China, so which is the best english language Rom for me? I intend to use pretty much all the phones capabilities, but I don't use outlook/office that much, so they are not such a priority.

Trust the shop
Hi
My brother lives in Beijing and has had a number of WM devices out there. Some of my old ones actually. He's always gone to a shop (not sure which one but can get the details if necessary) who have flashed with the correct firmware. A lot of the settings for China Mobile don't seem to work on WWE roms, even with CHT or CHS support installed.
Cheers

Need Some Help With Windows Mobile 6.0

A month ago I bought a Q-Tek A9100 phone, with Windows Mobile 6.0. I am really pleased with this phone. But, my brother who lives in the USA, sent me 2 days ago the AT&T 8525 with Windows Mobile 5.0.
At first sight, the AT&T device has some things better than the Q-Tek (Camera, Processor, Weight, Design), but I'm not sure which one should I keep for myself, because the Q-tek has WM 6.0, and I have read here that you know a way to upgrade it, is it possibble?
I hope i'm not wasting your time, it's just that I'm a newbie on this stuff, here in Latin America is not easy to find the needed help about this devices even though they're bought frequently.. Your comment would help me a lot!
Please I'll be very gratefull if you send your opinion to [email protected]
Thanks

Well.first of all I wud like to give an advise that never post your e-mail in any post ,as it'll get spammed, post your email addy only in your profile for safe custody.
secondly,YUP! it's very much possible to upgrade your AT&T 85225 (Hermes) to wm6 without any problem.
For unlocking and upgrade read the sub forum for Hermes Mobile at the below link.
Good luck

O2 Orbit2

Firstly hello! This is my first post on here so go easy please
Secondly I need some advice, I am at a stage where i need to replace my current phone and i have been looking at the O2 Orbit2. I don't like to buy without reading a review but they all seem very conflicting. You guy's seem to know what you are talking about so i would welcome your opinions / options.
My current phone is the Nokia E61 but it struggles now so it has to go, I also have to change networks because Vodafone has little or no coverage at my new house.
Thanks in advance!
Nick.
Nick, it might help a little if you state what you expect from the device, I am currently using an Orbit-2 on a T-Mobile contracted sim card, what applicatons/ software or GPS based applications do you want/ need from this device - Mike
Thanks for the reply Mike, sorry for the delay in reply and the sketchy original post. My main uses are web access/email and Excel/powerpoint based programs not sure how it would cope with these. Also any troubles with PC sync as this is something I do regularly and would be a pain if it was unstable!
The reviews I have seen have been very mixed hence i thought I would ask the experts.
Thanks again in advance.
Nick.

Windows mobile-enabled chinese phone ROM update

Good day! Greetings to all the wonderful members of xda-developers. It's been a while since I visited the forum.
Would like to know if anyone have had made modification for a windows-mobile enabled chinese phone. I have seen that market is flooded with such devices. Would like to know more how this can be customized. I have been doing "cooking" with ROMS for my own device. Wanted to know if it is posible with the chinese phone as well.
Any feedback is appreciated. TIA!
I have a CECT T32, it's a chinese iClone running WinMo 6. ... there doesn't seem to be ANY help on this forum regarding this particular unit or any other cheap chinese copies. I've been hunting around here trying to learn about all this ROM business but ther eseems to be some differences between devices so I'm having trouble applying it to my device. You could try hiphonepro.com ... they supports many chinese clones .. just not the one I have. No one has cracked the t32 yet.... shame, it's a pretty sweet unit.

[Q] best NAND android version for my HD2 (Netherlands)?

Hi guys,
I'm new here so I don't realy know for sure if I am allowed to post this question
here, but I hope so!
I've got the HD2 for about a year now, and I would really like to get android on it
because winmo and I don't get along very well.. But I need a NAND version that is Dutch. Or in every case one that works with Dutch Telecome providers (or do they all work with Dutch telecom providers?). I really Like the 2.3.1 Gingerbread version, does this NAND version had Dutch vocabulary included? and does it word with Dutch providers?
If not, wich one is the best to download for people in Holland?
I hope to hear from you guys!
regards,
Huub

[Q] Thai language on a Model GT-I9100 Ainol

Hi all
Hope someone can help as i have been reading forums all weekend and I am swimming in information but not sure if i have the information needed.
Anyway I just purchased a bunch of the new Ainol Tornados tablets for some Thai friends and was under the impression that they would have Thai language.
I assumed this was built into the ICS operating system. Also some suppliers of this Tablet insist the ones they are selling have Thai Language. But these do not.
I found a feiyu mod 0526 rom that seemed quite good and flashed it to the device. After the flash it rebranded the model to a GT-I9100 (and got rid of all the Chinese apps) which i believe is a Samsung Galaxy 2 Rom.
So my question is could i use other roms designed for the Samsung Galaxy 2 given this rom is working on the Ainol.
My only want is to get it running Thai Language as if i had chosen that option under the settings menu. I know i can use apps like Morelocale2 which only goes part way to solving my problem but i would really like a more thorough solution.
I did also wonder about trying to use roms from other Ainol Tablets such as the Ainol Advanced version has Thai language? Would this potentially cause bricking or is it something i could just test.
Any help would be hugely appreciated....
Thanks
Seems i only ask stupid or hard ?s here as i cant get a response.
But i cant be that stupid i worked out the XDA CAPTCHA
