Sync over wifi? - Touch Cruise General

I'd like to now if anybody knows if it's possible to use the Activesync or in Vista, the Windows Mobile Device Center (WMDC) over wifi? I'm asking that because my BT is apparently dead and my USB connection is highly unstable it works only when it wants to.
I've already search the forums and all I found is that until ActiveSync 4.0 it was possible but that option had been disable from Microsoft in the following versions.
I was thinking on a 3rd party application or some workaround to solve this problem.
Tks in advance for any response, best regards!

Hi Igoulart,
ActiveSync until version 3.7 (as far as I know) supported Sync over TCP/IP.
I know that this still works - but I don't know if it runs on Vista.
But.. by that time, ActiveSync had many serious problems in establishing sync connection - it was by far not as fail safe as AS' today.
But.. try it out - I read that many ppl. still use it today - just BECAUSE of this feature (TCP/IP).
You'll find it if you google it.
Kind regards from Switzerland - Christoph21x

Syncing in Windows 7???????

Has anyone found a way to sync the phone on Windows 7? I´ve tried everything possible and "nada"... Anyone?
why just not use a beta OS?
xgm... thats the stupidest response ever. how does a product get tested if people dont test it?
now we know that activesync doesn't work properly and a bug report can be submitted.
Glad I found someone testing windows 7 on XDA! I'm having the same problem, but I hope for you it isn't as bad as it is for me. NONE of my USB ports are working. Have you tried using any other device? My zune won't sync either. I'm hoping that someone with computing intelligence greater than I will be able to tell us why, but for now I'm stuck with no zune and flashing from SD.
Are you guys all in the TAP program? The beta hasn't been released to us lowly testers yet.. If it's anything like the vista beta, don't expect to be able to sync until the equivilant of WMDC comes out.. although I would have thought that would work on winders 7..
It's an extremely interesting problem... when I plug in my zune or phone, it shows up in the safely remove hardware menu, so the computer is recognizing that it is plugged in. However, it isn't charging and it's never recognized in my computer. Another interesting thing is that the first time that I plugged both in after installing the new beta, it installed the new drivers. I just can't figure it out. It's like it wanted to recognize it and it's trying to but it just won't lol. The phone i can deal with since I can just keep popping my SD in the card reader but I really need to update my zune...
For me it's good
Im testing Windows 7 on my laptop (a Macbook), I installed the Windows Mobile Device Center from the CD that came with my Touch Pro and it's working perfectly!
Same here
I cant sync my HD in windows 7. I emailed Paul Thurott in hopes he may know what to do.
Window Mobile Device install but doesn´t detect Touch Pro
Update 3: removed Office 2007 Ultimate installed Enterprise... installing SP1 now to see if it does any justice to the sync..
Update 2: Sync work for Outlook but not for the calender or appointments.
Update: after rebooting... a third time, it worked. I have yet to test snyc with Outlook but the rest seems to work... will drop a note here as soon as I give it a go.
.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.
I decided to give the Vistas Mobile Device a go on Windows 7 but no go. It installed but no sync to Touch Pro (Rafael)
.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.
windows 7
I was able to flash my rom in widows 7 but still no sync!
My Fuze is syncing fine for me in Windows 7 after installing mobile device center.

Ok I understand windows 7 needs to be tested but you said we know that activesync doesnt work properly, but is xda a windows 7 bug report collector? No. Im sure microsoft is aware that if there are problems with activesync.
When i read the post i figured the guy wants to sync his phone to his PC and the easiest way to not screw anything up is to use a tested working OS?
But yeah youre right, i guess my response was the stupidest ever right?

[FIX] Windows 7 and Mobile Device Center

Windows 7
Is anyone able to get the Touch Pro working with Windows 7? In Device Stage and Windows Mobile Device Center it just won't recognize the phone, says it's unable to get drivers for it.
Anyone got it to work or is it just not Windows 7 compatible yet?
If you're running the 64 bit build, it doesn't come with WMDC. Download it from microsoft's site, install it, and it'll work a treat
No I'm running the 32bit build, but WMDC just won't recognize the phone. If I connect with USB it doesn't recognize it at all and if I connect to it with bluetooth then it wil recognize it as a phone but I can't interact with it because it doesn't know what type of phone it is.
Can't say I have that issue here. Have you filed a bug about it? MS has already responded to several of the bugs I filed yesterday, I wonder if it's a known issue. My fuze works fine in x64 WMDC..
Tried it again after a WMDC reinstall and now it shows, guess it works afterall.
Thanks!
no issues here, yet
The first thing I did after installing Office 2007 on my Win 7 beta was get my phone setup. I'm running 32-bit build, and so far haven't had any issues.
I don't do much software installation via activesync, so haven't tried that, but I am using my computer as a stereo headset, microphone for calls, etc. all through bluetooth.
My phone works in vista sp1 but not 7000 version of win7...oh well, it's a beta ya know
I spent 10 hours configuring it with everything I need for work & I'm going to try it this week. If it bombs, it's just a matter of popping out the HD and popping in my Vista drive. I'm paranoid...got win7 on one HD with all my work stuff, Vista on another drive, and XP on another. Can't afford to be down for a day w/o my lappy.
If I get some time, I'll fool around with the TP/win7 issue on my end.
It connects...I get the connection sound, but that is about it. Also I get the
disconnect tone, but the windows connection program sync thingy won't "see"
the TP.
I have been unable to flash my phone since I upgraded to Windows 7. I've been battling with it for a while now. I've found a post somewhere saying to download the latest Mobile Device Center 6.1 from Microsoft. Even the setup was failing.
Well I finally found the solution:
Run Command Prompt as Administrator and enter this:
reg delete HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\SQMClient\Windows\DisabledSessions /va /f
Now Mobile Device Center should run and all should be well.
nice this was one of the things holding me back from installing my beta, might do it this weekend.
Flashing your phones in Windows 7 SHOULDN'T be a problem. Mobile Device Center works for MOST people. I don't know why my installation boinked... but I couldn't find a solution online anywhere.
Perhaps because I upgraded my copy of Vista to Windows 7 (always better to do a fresh install).
Anyway, you shouldn't have any problems flashing with Windows 7... but I have googled some cases where people were having my exact problems with no solution. I posted it here for the record and web presence.
I duno if you're an official tester or a public one, but if you're official, be sure and file a bug on that.. upgrade scenarios are the current major area of focus for the beta team.. im sure they would appreciate knowing about that one.. and vista users would appreciate it working when they upgrade
I already sent a "bug" report in when it didn't work, thanks to the tip about installing the Vista version of the mobile device software it works perfectly now.
I also sent a bug report about fixing it.

Thought it wasn't possible to upgrade with Win 7 beta from vista?
Yea you can upgrade Vista to Windows 7. I know because I did. It took like 4.5 hours though (thank you xbox).
Da_G... I did submit it.
Also about flashing... I couldn't get Mobile Device Center to install the proper driver to flash at first. The driver came up but was an "unknown device".
With the phone disconnected, I put my Fuze in bootloader mode then connected the USB cable. Only then did the wheels start churnin' and Mobile Device Center install the needed drivers to flash my phone.
But all is well now.
try out build 7022...no WMDC issue now...works great
I have no issues with Windows 7 and my phone at all.
How you guys like windows 7 so far? Im hearing good things about it..

Never been happier with anything microsoft has ever made to be honest.
I had this EXACT same problem, remember Da_G. I posted the resolution here in the forums... in the Raphael forums. Do a search for "Player911 Windows 7"
[Updated] I searched for you... it was the first listing:

Windows Live Messenger can't sign in in WM6.1 (need help)

There's WLM comes with WM6.1 in the PDA itself, when I wanna sign in, it shows an error "There's a connectivity problem. Make sure you're in an area with good reception and try again".
Previously I don't have this problem in signing in WLM, the wifi connection is perfect to do browsing and it is not slow at all.
But after I have installed an application to support Chinese language, WLM became like this, I'm unable to sign in.
How can I solve it?
Experts, please advise. Thanks for your time.
It happens to me too..
It happens to me too..
I think some Microsoft servers are under maintenance..start from yesterday until today.. but it's only on my phone (HTC Touch Pro T7272), there's no problem with Windows Live on my laptop (Sony VAIO VGN-CR23G)
i found out the way already Found on the Internet, only 3 steps needed.
For those HTC Touch Pro (Windows Mobile 6.1, tested) users who wanna install Chinese (that is able to read and write chinese words), take these 3 steps, it won't affect your Windows Live Messenger.
Step 1:
Install sunglobe.cab.
Step 2:
Install CEStar-Crack.cab.
Step 3:
Install PlumSIP V6.0.0011.cab.
It works on my Touch Pro. Hope it works for yours.

[Q] What does NOT work with Mango?

Hey,
i plan to update my HTC Mozart with Mango. Currently i am running NoDo. Of course, it is chevroned.
I read that some functions don't work anymore under mango, e.g. AdvancedConfig suffers from this issue.
Are there any workarounds yet?
What i really like to use with Mango is:
-Advanced Config
-Shortcuts to WiFi, data connection and airplane mode
-the "enhanced" navigon that was developed here
What else will stop working?
Thanks alot for you help!
Packages that are installed on a NoDo device will generally be preserved if you do a regular update and not a reflash. However, with Mango on the device, you will encounter problems with sideloading applications that require ID_CAP_INTEROPSERVICES. With the new update, native interop capabilities are reserved only for signed OEM applications.
Thanks for the clear answer.
Is there a workaround on this?
Is there a list which apps are using this ID_CAP_INTEROPSERVICES?
I answer your earlier questions:
- Advanced Config - work good but only ver. 1.3.0.0: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1246790
- Shortcuts to WiFi, data connection and airplane mode - work good with this app: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1257694
- the "enhanced" navigon that was developed here - work good Navigon 3.0 ver. 1311: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1099662.

[Q] Any WP7 Device as wifistick for PC´s

So here is my request and pleed:
Please create anyone an app which is possible to change the WP7 Device into a wifistick,so that you can connect your pc through your Phone to your wifi, this would be absolutely great, and if it is not possible to create an app for me and all the guy´s who have requests for this missing feature because of time,or other reasons than impossibility then please tell me anyone of you how the code must work, which api´s and so on i´ll need so that i´ll be able to create such´n app by myself, because i´ve visualstudio and can do some programming
thx for any answer
What Phone do you have ? Is it unlocked ?
The app "Mango Webserver" (in dev & hacking sub-forum) can already kind-of do this, because you can uload files using your web browser, then download them later on another computer.
If you want to create an app that is dedicated to the purpose, the first questions would be how do you want the PC to see the phone (using a browser like Mango Webserver app, or using a dedicated program, or what) and do you want this to be a marketplace app, or is using unofficial APIs OK?
So i have an unlocked Omnia 7(fullyunlock + interop(it is really interopunlocked believe me,don´t ask)) ,the way i want to use it is like a wifistick/modem or so,if it is unofficial or not therefore doesn´t interest me,but i thought that it eventually would be able to get this feature for more devices,so that it would have some more attention as only for samsung devices
so thx again for any answer
Hmm sorry, I misinterpreted your request. You want to use the phone as a WiFi network interface for the computer. ("wifistick" doesn't mean anything to me; never heard the term before.)
I don't currently know of a way to do that. You can use your phone to connect the PC to the Internet (using wired tethering), but that just turns the phone into a cellular modem. To do what you're asking, you'd need to either bridge the WiFi and ethernet-over-USB connections, or you'd need to set up Internet connection sharing between the WiFi and USB (like the official "Internet sharing" feature, except that one is between the cellular radio and the WiFi).
Yeah thats what i mean, but i think it must be possible anyway, because for wm devices that was available and also for androidphones such a function is available, why shouldn´t it work with wp7 devices?
Oh, it's possible. You'd need to use native code and probably need to have more permissions than a normal app allows, though. Just because an OS *can* do something doesn't mean that the software to do it is available.
I already listed the two most reasonable approaches to doing it. I'm not sure if WP7 supports connection bridging, so the first might not be possible. The second certainly is, though.
