de-branding?? - G1 Android Development

Is there anyway to de-brand the phone like get rid of the t-mobile logo that comes up when the phone is asleep and you hit a button?

From what i've read, that's actually a display of the network the phone is connected to, not any sort of branding.

This is correct as mine says ATT on that screen.

Stericson was able to do this by editing some XML files with a hex editor. I wouldn't recommend playing around with these files unless you know what you are doing. I would just wait for a bit. Someone will figure this out eventually, this is XDA. How about debranding the T-mobile logo located under the earpiece. Sugarcube, anyone? I dont want to be the first to try I need a guinea pig.

That's what I need to know, thanks guys

Anyone know how to actually remove the physical logo from the phone (the one on the front?) without damaging anything?

On all my other HTC phones (except Kaiser), you could rub a sugarcube over the logo on the front and it would be abrasive enough to remove the logo, but not abrasive enough to damage the plastic. I want to try this with my G1, but I dont want to be the first.

I don't have any sugar cubes, but i removed the myfaves logo from the back of the screen with straight sugar and my fingers.
I tried the same thing with the T-Mobile below the earpiece, but have had no luck so far. The surface it different. I am certainly going to try again when i have sugar cubes

If that's possible, then we should be able to see the battery percentage on the locked screen as well?

I'm just trying to remove T-Mobile from the Dream.
BTW, I tried sugar cubes today. They removed the T-Mobile logo beneath the earpiece, but left a bunch a deep scratches.

ok, so maybe is time to start brainstorming except writing "me too"! it is like in the kindergarten
in HKLM/Software/HTC/ are many keys, e.g. StartupAnimation..
i tried to make a new key with StartupVibration/Enable=1
but looks like it does not work. any another ideas?
Umm, if it did work, shouldn't you be setting that value to 0?

In my knowledge, the vibrating on the smart mobility screen, the first on the boot process, is't related to registry, cause the system haven't started yet. So perhaps is a value in the SPL.
I don think you can change into the registry.
did not work even with "0" (as disabled)...
...
if it is a value in the SPL, then no more fight with it...

Why not fight...? we can send a petition to pof to take a look at the HardSPL to see if can find the value (if exist).
i ment not fight with it through registry of course
Why would it vibrate in your cradle? Do you continuously restart your phone in the cradle? Or have an app that restarts your phone often?

I install programs and do regedits while the Kaiser is connected to my PC. Many of these programs & changes needs soft reset.
I see Thanks IsBjorn.

I am going to inadvertently bumb this with a rather useless comment (admittedly)...

It's not a bad idea to let ppl to make contributions of any type. This let ppl learn about other ppl ideas about Kaiser. No one knows what are beside the vibration...
Perhaps this post moves someone to learn something... enough for me to be here...
I personally like this feature since in order to actually power on a Kaiser you have to press/hold the power button until you either see the green light come on or feel the vibration.

I never turn my Kaiser on or off, just soft restarts after and during installations and regedits.
I remember that some of my old mobiles did automaticly disable vibration during charging and when put in a cradle. All this to protect the connectionplug and "chargerport".
(Not that good in writing english; what's the real name on the "chargerport"?)
Charge port = Power jack?
Charge port sounds good to me. =)

Can I disable the Menu button to unlock?

I've tried Lockbot, and the thing crashes my phone way too much.
I've tried using a password lock, and it's just annoying.
All I want is to remove that second "menu" push for unlocking the phone, that's it. So when I hit menu, I've got to swipe down to unlock it.
I was working in the yard yesterday, and I unlocked my phone every time I bent over, causing me to make calls, change songs, etc. It was really annoying.
Any way of doing this?
Thanks!
Yea, dont bend over....But, to answer your question, No.

The home screen tilts if I move the phone. I hate thing thing!
any chance of a vid or photo of this? I've never known anything like that before.
from what i gather, he's saying that the software image is staying aligned with the horizon when he moves his phone. so if he tilts his phone at 45 degrees, sense will still be in line with the horizon, where as you or I would need to tilt our heads at 45 degrees to see it aligned properly....get it?

two days ago i tested on the dhd a coocked rom, Rmix i think, that came with sense 3.0. It has the same thing, that I assume is a standard feature of the sense. I cannot believe you don't see it. Try to move the phone from left to right in the home screen: I can see the edge of the clock, in the meteo widget you see the moon or the sun in 3d. At a first sight it's amazing, but now, when i switch on the phone the screen is not aligned.....

Wifi or LTE troubles

so i happen to be in the wrong section for the HTC One X (International Verision) and i was reading a thread where alot of people were having wifi connectivity issues. So i tried to do what they were doing to replicate the problem (even though nothing happend, Pressing the back of the phone, checking for a faulty connection) Now that i tried doing it and they told me it has the LTE radio there instead of the wifi one, will my LTE suffer now that i tried it? i fear that i actually bent the connection pins.
Are you in an LTE area?
Didn't you mama ever tell you don't mess with things that aren't broke?

i will be back home tomorrow so yes, i will be. and yes my mama did. but like i said i was in the international section, and i thought my phone would be affect too.
The at&t one X only has one radio its built into the chip so I would say that if you have signal at all you didn't hurt anything.
If you get good LTE signal and speed when you're back in the LTE area, I wouldn't worry about it.
Makes me think of the old joke:
Patient: Doc, it hurts when I do this.
Doctor: Then don't do that

The radio itself is built into the snapdragon S4 chip. It's the antennas you need to worry about
