i found a way to use the clocks found on the home customizer on S2U2.
1. open HHC and choose the clock you want to use and apply changes
2. backup the settings under the options tab (will be saved to "My Documents" in file explorer)
3. in file explorer open HTC Backup file and open "Clock" file, there you should see the clock you chose.
4. Back out and copy the "Clock" file and paste in "gfx" under S2U2 (found under "Program Files" "S2U2"). *I did this just for ease of use, so i didnt have to go through 5 files everytime i wanted to transfer a number*
5. open the "clock" folder inside gfx and you will see the attributes of the default clock you are using on S2U2 currently.
6. the numbers being used in this folder are 1,2,3... in the HTC Backup folder, it is different. I am currently using Alien Round and they were labled as HHC...1,HHC...2 and so on
7. all you have to do is rename these HHC numbers to 1,2,3..., copy them, and paste them to the corresponding number in the Clock folder in gfx.
8. You will be asked if you would like to over-write the files, just say yes.
9. You can even change the "am" and "pm" from the files and the colon style.
10. Soft Reset and you should see the changes.
Hope this helps anyone, i thought it was pretty cool, i just figured it out today...I hope its not old news LOL

The best thing to do is search this forum on how to write your own shortcuts. It has been covered many times and all you need is notepad.
There was also a stand alone app by someone to make shortcuts.
I personally like my shortcut wizard in my common file dialog dll. You can download these
http://www.odeean.com/ORDsite004/Downloads/CommonDialogTester.exe
http://www.odeean.com/ORDsite004/Downloads/ORDcommonDialogDLL.dll
and put them in your program files directory. Once you navigate to the executable you wish to make a shortcut to you can hold down the stylus on it and select shortcut wizard. You can scan other executables or dlls on your device to find images for the icon of the shortcut. Once made, just re-name it to what you want and put it in your \windows\start menu\programs folder.
To get icons onto your device just look for any application you like the icons for. It can be a desktop app, it does not have to be a valid ppc app. Put the exe on your phone and my wizard will be able to scan it for icons. Just keep in mind that the exe will have to stay on your device for the image to still be available, so try find small ones.
edit:
I just realized you may want to change the icon for the actual folder that gets shown on the menu. If you do as I said above to make a shortcut to the programs folder you will be able to get any icon you want. open the .lnk in pword and remove the text [no arguments for folder shortcuts], I accidentally copy that text into folder shortcuts and it screws them up. You can't delete the actual folder "Programs" from that directory or else you loose the list of recently opened programs but the lnk to programs will open the desired folder.

Whats the PASSWORD?? n can u plz tell me as to how to use it??n where can i download more icons??
That looks like an icon overlay to me. With some work it might be doable but the whole os is limited to 15 such overlays, so it would be a bad idea to start hogging them.
I've tried finding a thread/reply to this item via search but couldn't. Any help is appreciated:
Looking to get just the Folder icons that appear in ROMeOS program menu and move them to another ROM of my choosing. I'll attach a screenshot of what I'm talking about.
For instance if I create a folder called "Multimedia" in the Start Menu, it will default to a standard plain folder. How can I a) download these icons from my device and b) install them to a different ROM?
Thanks!
Anyone have any idea?
If I remember correctly, if you go to \Windows\Start Menu\(desired folder) there should be a picture file/icon file of it.
Solution for changing Folder Icons on the Start Menu!
Yes Sir - you are correct. In each folder, there is a hidden file called icon.lnk Here are directions on changing your folder icons:
In your windows directory, place your icon library. In my example, I'll call that Icons.dll
Each of your hidden folder icon.lnk files should refer to the icon that you want within the Icons.dll file. There's a program out there called GConvert 5 that will allow you to open icon DLL files and view the icons in them (you can also import your own custom made icons and do a few other things as well with this program). I believe you can test out the program for 2wks before you have to buy it
The Icons within your DLL file are in a specific order, so in the icon.lnk file you need to refer to the icon you want with a number.
The syntax is: "1#Icons.dll,-2"
This is telling the program to refer to the Icons.dll file and look for the 2nd icon in it. Modifying the icon.lnk files can be done in notepad on your desktop and when you do this, you don't need the quotation marks that i typed above.
As a side note, if there is a group of folder icons that you want from a particular rom, you'll have to do a search for all DLL files in the windows directory and try to locate the one with the Icons in it. On the Elite ROM for instance it's called IcoRes.dll, AT&T created an Icon DLL for their bloatware called FolderIcon_PPC.dll and so on...
Anyway, hope that helps anyone looking to do that.
Another option is to spend a few bucks and buy sk shortcut manager. This app will let you easily change icons in seconds. Make yourself a dll and keep it on storage card. Then every time you change roms you can copy the dll to the device and use sk shortcut manager to swap the icons real quick.
Special for all of ipaq user, Thanks for XDA-DEVELOPERS FORUM
I'm using
Resco Explorer 2008
Rviewer
and an .icl file (try googling and download)
to change folder icon on startmenu, first
set your resco to be able to view the hidden files, system files and view the exrention.
Download .icl files, and put in \windows directory of your phone. make copy of .icl to same directory and rename to Whatever name with .dll extention, why should do this one? because Rviewer only recognize .dll, .exe, and .cpl only, thats why we rename this files. now open Rviewer and browse the renamed .icl to .dll file to see the various icon pics on it. find the proper icons and don't forget to remember the icons sequence which later will be put in the .lnk file. now open the resco explorer, and browse to \Windows\StartMenu\Programs. for example we want to change the Games Folder icons, so you must go to \Windows\StartMenu\Programs\Games and find the file called icon.lnk tap and hold then chose properties. In this dialog u can see there is one tab called shortcuts. fill the value of the target with the name of .icl files follow by the minus sign and the sequence icons pics number ex: iphone.icl,-20 and press done. now you can see the icons hass been changed by tapping on Start menu,Programs and now you have the new Games Folder icon.
Do this think to change application icons
"\Storage Card\Program Files\IMPlus\IMPlus.exe"iphone.icl,-11
To remove definitively HTC shortcuts/icons who reappared in the start menu do the following process.
in the registry, go to :
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\HTC\Manila\IsShortcutEn able
Change 1 to 0
SoftReset and magic.......
All it's work great !!!!

I have made new folders using activesync in my windows/start/programs folder. The new folders are programs, apps web, etc.
Using the phones file manager, I have cut and pasted the appropriate icons in the start menu to their respective new folders that I created. Ex: I put opera and IE in the web folder, camera, video recorder in the mutimedia folder and so on. After I did the cut and paste, when I look at the windows/start/programs folder with either activesync or the phones own file manager, the icons that I cut and pasted are in their new folders, and not in the windows/start/programs folder. But, when I open the start icon on the phone, the icons I cut and pasted to the new folders still are visible, along with the same respective icon that I cut to the folders.
I did all this to unclutter the start screen. I have installed the touch X remove reappearing icon cab and have validated the registry change to 0. But, the supposed cut icons are still there, cluttering up the start page. Any ideas on how to get rid of this things forever??!!
Any solutions......anybody?
"Fun & Info" can be removed somehow?
iarapilot,
See in the registry, there is somes information about start menu tree cleanup, reset and all is fine !!
Search in the forum, you find it
Please can you tell us the link? CanĀ“t find it.

Try to restart your device. If it doesn't help, delete those icons from star menu entirely (or move them somewhere else), restart your device (then there should be non of these icons anywhere in start menu) and then move them anywhere you want. It worked for me when i encountered this problem, so it's at least worth the try.. Good luck
not working, please help
i installed the cab and tried deleting icons on both the file explorer and on the windows mobile center on my pc. It is not working. The files are no longer there but the icons are, except now they are grey files, not the icons as before. Please somebody walk me through this step by step.

I've also been told there isn't a way to get the original icons off the start menu that tmobile had on the phone when i got it, such as bn eReader, blockbuster, etc. I need help.

I have tried a couple of roms recently. Both times my wallpaper changer app has replaced the rom's wallpaper. I have searched and not seen an easy way to get the original back. I really don't want to have to reinstall if not necessary. Any help?
I can offer you two approaches:
1. Long press on home screen and choose Wallpapers > Wallpapers and click Reset to Default
2. Using Root Explorer (or similar), navigate to /system/framework and "View" the framework-res.apk - navigate to framework-res.apk/res/drawable-hdpi and find the file called default_wallpaper.png - copy and paste it to your sdcard to use as you'd like...
EDIT: Maybe i'm not understanding you properly - does your wallpaper changer app (btw, what does that app do besides change wallpapers?) possibly swap out the default_wallpaper.png file mentioned above? If so, you can just browse to the same file location in the full ROM file you originally downloaded, using 7zip (or the like), and grab the original wallpaper that way..
Found file with explorer. Must not have looked in right dir. Wallpaper changer will change wallpaper at assigned intervals; hours, minutes etc. It pulls images from designated folder. I . bored with same wallpaper day after day. Its nice to wake up each day and see what my wallpaper of the day is. Thanks for the help.
