I backed up my system with sprite backup and now just want to get back my short messages but not e-mails or any other settings.
I'm looking for sms folder but I couldn't find.
Can anybody tell me the name and the location of this folder please?

I just did a software update and was told to back up all of my files. Great, I did that. I transferred PIM back over and it restored my contacts... So when I was moving everything back over I see this new file cemail. I gather from my research that it is apparently where my text messages are now stored; however cemail is a write protected file. So my question is, is there any way that i can overwrite the new cemail file so that i can rename my other copy of my PIM file so that i can get my over 5000 text messages backkkkkk??? please HELP.
Hey,
a friend has a Galaxy3 - the native Android client by default seems to be set up to delete messages when a certain limit is reached.
Is there some way to restore these messages? Maybe they just get moved off to a "temporary" folder for deleted items? Any help would be appreciated!
No you cant recover deleted sms. Download sms backup + from market and your current sms will be backed up in your gmail account, and you can restore them in case you delete them To prevent future sms loss, go in message settings and remove the sms limit...

Go to Sms app and press the menu button to open settings. First option is to enable/disable "Delete old sms".
If you backup up your files to Gmails, then you can easily restore them, but if you didn't , I think you need to try some professional Andriod data recovery tool, like Vibosoft, I used it, works, but if you create new files, it will cover your original data, in that case, it is impossible to recover.
It's awful to lose the photos of your precious memories from Android Phone due to accident deletion or other reasons. With Dr.Fone for Android, all the lost photos can be recovered at ease. Recover from SD card and phone storage; Retrieve JPEG, PSD, PNG, BMP, GIF, TIFF, etc.

Also it works on deleted contacts, text messages, video and more on your android phone.

I wanted to flash a new ROM and wanted to backup my SMS and contacts. I used an app on the market (Super Backup : SMS & Contacts) and backed up. I don't know where the saved backup is now because its not in the folder where it usually saves in. Is it hidden? Deleted?
Thanks.
If it's not in the directory the application usually saves into, then it is probable that it was deleting during flashing for whatever reason. Try using Recuva by Piriform or another data retrieval tool to recovery them.
I've never heard of Recuva but I'll have a look at it now. Thanks!
Hi,
for sms backup you can test the free app from market "sms backup and restore". After backup your sms you can find the data on sdcard in folder SMSBackupRestore.
For backup Contacts the easiest way is to have a gmail account
Yeah it should of saved into that folder but it doesn't seem to be in that folder.
if there is really such backup process, that would be really great. i'll try it.
Next time save contacts to sim card then transfer contacts to phone from sim card.

There is app "SMS Backup and Restore" on Play Store. You can use it to backup your texts and copy it your PC.
This software can either backup and restore SMS and can backup and restore Contacts, very handy. I've been using and strongly recommend you to use.
OR You can search " obbosoft " in google......

In China, we backup the SMS and contact with several software before flash a new Room
I feel that AST android sms transfer can help you backup and restore all you text messages.
Search "obbosoft or apolsoft" in google.....
They all can solve your problem.
Google sync would be a good option.can be found in ACCOUNTS&SYNC under settings.
Simply add account and sync.after flash sync again.

I chose OBBO Android SMS & Contacts Backup It allows me to transfer and backup your SMS messages & Contacts between android phone and desktop computer.
sms backup + or sms backup & restore from google play. FREE!
Sms backup
SMS Backup & restore work very well.
It create a directory on your SD. copy it on new phone, than select restore.
I will recommend Android Manger to you that all of your texts will be on the cloud. The service has a PC application that will have all your messages on both your PC, Android and cloud. If you change PC or phones just re-install the application and all your texts are back. Plus you can text from your PC using this application as well.
Android Manager
Using apps to save SMS on your phone, and then transfer them to your computer? The way I see it, this is not so good a choice. Why not use some program on your PC and transfer the text messages from your Android to it directly?
Because if you also save it to your MicroSD card you have another backup in case the PC backup doesn't work. Nothing wrong with redundant backups. I also back mine up to my Dropbox account.
Thanks for valuable information. And after my test,I found android assistant tool can make it easily.
Another way is to use Google SMS backup&restore.
I want to backup the whatsapp data in separate folder for each contact. So if want to search something so i can straight go to the contact folder and search there. is there any app out their that can do this
