bootloader for o2 xda zest / asus p552w - General Questions and Answers

please can anyone tell me how to bootload on o2 xda zest as i installed HTC home plugin v2.1 on my zest and everything got stuck and nothing is working, it is only stuck on the today home screen and nothing else is working. if any could tell me how to bootload it will be really appreciable. o2 xda zest is also asus p552, both are same, bootload for any model would work for me
thank you.

I don't know if this can help, but you can go into bootloader mode by pressing this sequence of buttons while soft reseting :
do a soft reset then : volume up + navigation down + camera pressed simultaneously.
edit : tested on a p552

As far as I can work out 2 special boot modes are:
Power phone up with up cursor held in, hard reset mode
Power phone up with down cursor held in, recovery mode, reflashes from MicroSDHC?

Hi pavneet
I also face this problem and am forced to perform hard-reset and reinstall by cursor key hold in UP and reset, while holding UP key until see screen reinstall everything.

It doesn't work but there is another solution. You can bring back factory settings.
So do: Start - Settings - System - Default Settings - Password is 1234.
Good luck

Thanks in advance.
take the battery out and do a hard reset. Hold volume up and down at the same time and press power button.
I also tried to do that and nothing happens! It just show`s white screen with htc logo.
My HD2 won't go to bootloader tri color screen when I press and hold the VOLUME DOWN then Press and hold the POWER button, but the phone starts normaly.
I already flashed the HSPL3 and nothing wrong happened. But when I tried to check if the HSPL status, the bootloader don't work.
My HD2 is T-Mobile

I installed via USB FLasher on MAGLDR the Windows 7 Phone and it was working perfectly without problems (Just Wlan/Wifi dont working). After this i tried to install 5 different NAND Android on my HD2 and every of this is hanging on this HTC Logo!!! I am sure that all this 5 were working before this...
My Problems:
1. Cant install (NAND) Android.
2. Cant join to the BOOTLOADER (Tricolor).

I'm done with the nerves!!! Can anybody help me?
Best Regards, Mike
Take bettery out, then try again
it will work
i tried EVERYTHING! but it dont help
and battery too!
Having the same problem I have SPL-3.03 HSPL & trying to downgrade to SPL 1.66 but won't go into Bootloader. I've tried an 8gb, 4gb & now 1gb card the file has been renamed in the root to LEOIMG.nbh but just get the tri colour screen. Pressing reset button & holding end call & Vol down button.
This is the right file to rename from HTC?

Make sure you are not using the USB cable while trying to enter bootloder. I had the same problem, but once unplugged the cable all was fine.
I'm having a similar problem. I reflashed to the HSPL, no problem. I then used the Rom UPdate Utility, which claimed it had updated my ROM to version 2 (although it took a fraction of the 10 minutes, it said it would). When I now try to boot the phone to install the rest, doesn't matter how much I hold the power key (which I presume is the 'make call' key, as that powers the phone up), it refuses to do anything other than boot to the O2 Welcome screen. I'm noticing the replies aren't very helpful here. Is this what I can expect for the whole forum? As a newbie, I can't make posts on the developers forums, so I can't ask them if they've come across this before. It seems a bit pants, to be honest!

Hi Junks,
The THREE COLOUR SCREEN is BOATLOADER this is FIRST BOOT LOADER or (I Think) the name is H-BOOT. You have to correct ROM for HTC HD2, but CMIIW the rom is for HTC HD2 T8585 (WWE) with 516 Internal Memory. Is your HD2 this Model or another Model famous with name TMOUS (T-Mobile Edition) with 1024 Internal Memory. I believed if you still have tricolor screen easier to "wake up" your phone.
Im haveing the same problems please someone help... a Demonoid invite code is all I have to offer here

HD2 is most great device. what is actually happened. You can brief here what you did before and some background of your HD2, what u have flashed in and what is inside, the more clue probably will help others to point a good thing for you. If No boot loader is the device totally "death"

I usely use SD Builds, but I installed DFT_LEO_MAGLDR113_DAF,HSPL4,MAGLDR_CWM_Recovery_v3.0.2.5_for_NexusHD2_135M,NexusHD2-Gingerbread_V2.7_NAND__Android-2.3.4__update and wifi-calling-htcleo-gb-20110518 ( Yes I just copy and paste the file names lol) My phone was working fine (Not sure about the bootloader/Tri-color screen) untill a few days ago my android build boots in safe mode I did find a remedy for that and thats by pressing and holding the Call (green), Home and Windows keys down while the android boots, but I have to do that all the time now. What I am trying to do is restore it back to fatory settings. Oh yeah BTW the AMAGLDR bootloader dose boot and also CWM Recovery but while In the aMAGLDR I have to hold the back key to press vol. up and down other wise it will keep moveing back to the top of the list (Its been like that sence I installed MAGLDR) but I do not have any problems with the vol up and down key in any other programs. I am also able to use USB Flasher and any other mode besides Windows Mobile Device Center (Windows 7). I also tried gettng into Sync by installing Windows phone 7 (witch installed fine with USB flash (Useing MAGLDR) but not luck with syncing back to WM6.

Hi. I've tried that combination of keys & I just get the O2 Welcome screen. The only key combination that works is when I power up with the Vol Down key held. I then get the tri-colour screen.
Don't know if this helps but.....
When I get the tri-colour screen, I have the following text:

[Q][UNBRICK] Is my TF700 a brick OR asleep in APX MODE?

Hello everyone,
This is my first post here so forgive my errors (if any):
I have tried a few things on my TF700:
1. I have installed the rooting tool from asus website and after activating it,
The first boot scrren said (on top left corner) "the device is unlocked"
When running the app again it would give an error.
2. I tried soft reset - nothing there.
3. I went for hard reset - I accidently went for the left most icon....
After a little investigation on a few pages here I think it is in APX mode..???
It turns on but stays in the first screen with the white ASUS logo on screen & thats it...
Any ideas anyone???
How do I save my precious TF700??
I tried connecting to it through USB installing (Linux):
cat > /etc/udev/rules.d/60-nvflash.rules <<END
# nvflash support for Nvidia Tegra systems attached to USB
SUBSYSTEM=="usb", ATTR{idVendor}=="0955", ATTR{idProduct}=="7820", MODE="0660", GROUP="plugdev"

If you use the Asus unlock tool, you should not brick your device. It looks like that you wipe your system some how. I am guessing here... Can you do some test for me? If you on the Asus screen, just press the power button for about 10 seconds until it shuts down and then keep holding the power button with the volume down at the same time until you are going back to the three icons, thanks. I just want to see if you can get back to your recovery...

Than you for you reply...
I already tried that...it just loops the same shut down to ASUS LOGO screen with no response to the volume down button.
I also let it run out of power so to try & get it out of this loop which resembles an APX loop but in vain...it just keeps on powering up to the same state...
Will give it another go....
There isn't even a pause where I can slip the volume down button in, that is why I let it run out of power to slip the volume down button in...& that is what I am going to do now...let it charge for a short while and power it up with the volume down button (which did not work for several tries...)

The device will enter in APX mode only with the Volume UP + Power buttons combo and to get out of that mode you need to hold the Power button for at least 10 seconds.
If you can't get to the bootloader menu (the one with the 3 icons) anymore you are out of luck and only Asus can repair your device. APX it's useful only if you have the NvFlash backup.
Inserting a microSD with an original Asus firmware is also useless if you can't access the bootloader menu because you can't boot in recovery mode.

Make sure you do EXACTLY what sdbags said - he IS the expert.
With the tablet powered OFF, press and hold BOTH the power button and volume down button together, for at least 10 seconds. It should bring you back to the screen with the 3 icons. RCK, android robot icon, wipe. RCK gets you to recovery mode where you can use TWRP for recovery/flash installs, etc. Middle android is the cold boot option which sometimes fixes problems like you're having. Don't do wipe unless someone like sdbags explicitly tells you.
Hope you can fix this.

Well guys...thank you all for your help & time...
I tried everything anyone here suggested but unfortunately ended up with the same result: ASUS white logo screen.
The tablet is still under the first year time period...any suggestions as for how to get it fixed (RMA) without paying tones of money?
What should I say happened???
Guess RCK does not work on my device...(?)
Thank you all...
Did you try the middle android icon to see if that helped? You switch to the middle one by pressing volume down, then select it by pressing volume up.
The device also have a reset button (a tiny hole near the micro hdmi port),use a paperclip to press it and hope for the best.
As for the RMA ,Asus could charge you for repairing because you unlocked the bootloader but some users here on XDA also reported that Asus repaired their device for free even if the bootloader was unlocked.

[q] flashing factory/custom rom without recovery and usb-debug support?

hello, i have a starmobile engage 8 tablet from Philippines that I was able to root. i guess the bootloader is LOCKED, there is NO RECOVERY, and I can't install one. usb debug mode is unfortunately DISABLED without thinking that my tablet will have problems. when i restarted the phone, it showed me splash screen/starmobile logo then followed by a blank screen. after around 5 minutes, it restarts and then same thing happens.
what can be done in this case? please help!:crying:

I feel your pain, I have the same unit with a different issue but my temporary fix might help you.
Rooted my phone and installed a game(was in the middle of copying a file to the obb ), forgot to activate modded play store and restarted the tablet trying to do a quick modded play store install. after the stupid move My tablet now keeps restarting and stops after the star mobile logo and restarts again and it just keeps restarting.
What I did is I randomly press the following keys to attempt finding the safe mode: home+volup, home+voldown, pow+volup and etc... I finally found the safe mode and did a factory reset which did nothing to fix the restarts. Try not doing this!
Then I pressed and hold both volume keys when the star mobile logo shows up and the red star mobile logo turns blue completing the boot process for some reason starting the tablet.
As of today my engage 8 still does the infinite restart if I restart it but I can bypass it with the method. Hope it helps you.
Planning to do a cache/dalvik cache wipe when my research is done to try and fix this tab, good luck to me...
thanks for your reply... what i thought was that starmobile technicians do not want to share the key combinations. and im glad that you figured it out. can you remember that specific combinations you used? so that i can try then...
just so you know, i sent the unit to star mobile for repair and they managed to fix it. unfortunately i made the same mistake so i just dumped it.

There are only a few buttons on the phone. I mean, if you have 3 buttons, there are 3 combinations.
Assuming your phone has 3 buttons try:
Power + Volume Up
Power + Volume Down
Power + Volume Up + Volume down
If your phone has 4 buttons also try:
Power + Vol Up + Home
Power + Vol Down + Home
Power + Vol Up + Vol Down + Home
NOTE: Press ALL the buttons and hold in the same time.
NOTE2: Try the combinations in the order from top to bottom

[Resolved] [Q] Asus Zenfone 5 stuck at boot screen (soft brick maybe)

Hey guys...
My Zenfone 5 won't boot up. It just stops at the android screen and doesn't go any further.
I can't remove the battery as i don't have the proper tools.
how it got bricked:
I powered off my phone by pressing power button and shutdown, it was connected to my pc at the moment. i didnt wait for the charging symbol(the green battery with a lightning symbol in center) to show up, but i tried to boot into bootloader before the charging symbol showed. when i got the android screen i didnt let go the power button, so my device switched off again. once more i tried into bootloader, i didnt let go the power button, again switched off. now i hold both power and volume up to go into bootloader, and i let go power button, but it is stuck at the same screen and wont go any further.
i tried adb reboot but adb doesnt recognize my device.
Please help.
Device runs android 4.4.2 and is rooted.
Never mind...
I got it working after i hold the power button for 8 seconds and then rebooting again.
A good bit of advice: don't be hasty when ur modifying your phone. I should have thought twice before starting this thread.

The asus bootloader is already unlocked, to the best of my knowledge. (when i tried power button+ volume up while switched off, and released ONLY the power button when the "in search of incredible" screen showd up, i got into the stock bootloader direclty, which should be droidboot.)
