Does anyone know of a way to set "notifications" as my left soft key on my home screen? I use advanced config and set my tab order and right soft key to what I want (comm manager). But I would like to have the left soft key set to pull up notifications. without using a stylus it can be a little annoying pulling up your reminders and notifications (missed calls, txts, emails, etc...) id like to have it set to my soft key.
Any help?
oh man.. all I can say is bump bump (I think that's the right xda lingo). I could really use the answer to this.
A side issue - I don't know why, maybe it's my rom, but something keeps turning off my reminders from popping up after reboots.

Hello,
Yes, I searched everywhere but didn't find any answer.
Is it possible to disable the backlight when notifications comes ? For example, when a SMS or an e-mail arrives, the screen powers up and my pocket presses the screen and do bad things on the screen. This would be a cleaner idea than locking the screen!
I know that phoneAlarm have an option for this but I'm using PhoneWeaver for this profiling job (which is smaller than it). I think it must be a reg key somewhere for this :/
Thanks in advance for your precious help!
To be honest, I do not understand you question but I think you are searching for the sound and alert settings?
Go to start > settings > sound and alerts (and then the 2nd tab)
If this is not what you are looking for, could you be more specific?
he want it to when it turns on because of an alarm or sms or the likes that it
dont have backlight on the lcd
personaly i doubt it's possible i believe that when notifications turn the device on it's 100% the same thing that is sendt to the os as when one press the on button if that is the case that the os cant tell the diff
i doubt it could have different backlight settings depending one
what turns it on
holding the button down for a bit turn off the backlight on many devices
untill the button is pressed for a bit again
also when it's turned off so when the notification turns it on the backlight will be off
but ofcause so will it when power button turns it on
I would like my device (TyTN/Hermes) under windows mobile 6 not to "turn on" when a message arrives because my phone case press on the screen while on my pocket and some strange things arrives (delete messages, surf on the Internet, ...) as random parts and buttons are pressed...
I was hoping this simple thing could have been done easily
slide2unlock
I was wanting the same thing also since I carry my phone in my pocket(htc mogul). As I would reach into my pocket to pull out the phone I would end up pressing button to where programs would open and what not. I tried slide2unlock and I think that has solved my problem pretty good. The only time the phone get unlocked is with an incoming call. Other than that the screen just turns on with an incoming text. Good thing about this program is that if you turn on your screen, the buttons won't do anything without sliding the slider to unlock.
if a password is set it dont go to the today screen and random screen pokes will not result in wild pr0n surfing
or getting a case with s screen in front like the silicon ones or the
full plastic ones will safe the screen from clicks and damage too
I am also looking for a solution. I am currently using slide2unlock, but I would prefer the behavior mentioned above. Specifically, I would like the phone to stay in standby mode (screen off, not responding to button presses or screen taps) when an incoming SMS arrives or phone acquires or loses signal. Currently these behaviors will turn on the phone by itself.
I recently updated to Shamanix 1.3 (aka Schap's 4.01 customized) which has this behaviour
The phone don't turn on when an e-mail/sms/mms arrives (only when a phone call arrives)
Anyone has found the solution for this?
Thanks!
GM.
for those who use on-screen keyboard on devices such as HTC Touch, the "send" button is very close to the lower side of the keyboard and it sometimes happen that I accidentally press "send" before I finish composing a message is there a way to either set a timer on the button (i.e. having to press it for 200 ms in order to send the message) ?
also, is there a way to delete all sent sms without emptying the inbox (apart from selecting all messages and pressing delete, of course...) ?

I don't think there is.. sorry. Its actually a pretty good idea cause I do that a lot too on my Tilt
ok to avoid this problem, i now use Pocket CM which is pretty good (except for a few bugs to be ironed out in next release), it requires a 250 ms "send"press
and by the way, if you want to empty only one of your sms folders ("sent" for exemple) without clearing the inbox, go get "inbox extender" at MoDaCo !
I am loving my new Touch pro, but there are two things that bug me a little. Just a couple of niggles, but it would be nice to fix them nonetheless
a) When I send I message, everytime I send a message I have to turn delivery reports on. Is there anyway to default it to on, with the option to turn it off?
b) Remapping the sofkeys for alarms - when I want to put the alram on snooze instead of urning it off, I have to open the menu, then pick how long I wanna snooze for... kinda defeats the object of a snooze button don't it? Can I just remap on of the soft keys to snooze for 10 mins?
to get delivery reports to be always on, go to messaging -> menu -> options -> SMS \ MMS and check 'Request Delivery Notifications'. It'll now remain always on. Uncheck it if u ever want to turn it off

I also wondering how to handle this snooze function.
Very strange why they never tought about a big snooze button when an reminder goes off.

Take a look at this.
when an email or sms comes in, i little envelope shows up on the top of the screen and the bottom left hand of the screen changes from calendar to 'Notification'.
is it possible to not have that happen. i use spb phone suite and the home screen already shows this info via a number of unread messages. i do not need a 'Notification' message to show up also.
thanks

Geez, I kinda want mine back. I used a tweaking program to set it to something else, and now I can't find out how to set it back to get the Notification display behavior....
Any clues, aside from reflashing

I actually want mine back too without having to set it all the time. But in your case, go to start>settings>Sounds & Not on the bottom select Notifications, then select the event you want to change, you case "New Email" and check off Display.
that does not work. maybe its the ROM. maybe a soft reset is required....
Here it is...
After much searching, I believe this is the answer...

Hi MBAlbright -- Thanks for the ptr. However, what I really want is the ability when I have a notification up, to automatically rebind the left softkey on the homescreen to "NOTIFICATIONS", so that pressing it will make it seem like I pressed the little notification icon.
Any idea on that one? This is how the older ROMs used to operate.
Thanks!
the home screen of [touchflo3d] overrides left and right default softkey actions. thats why we cant have now on left softkey notification button
so how would you rebind the left and right soft touch keys to other functions?
I read somewhere that TP2 can automatically go to voice mail / not ring when you put it on a flat surface face down. Sorry if I missed this anywhere but is there a tweak or setting to do this in Raphael. Thx
bump, anyone?
Just spent 2 mins searching for you... It would apear that you can mute the phone by turning it face down when it starts ringing, but leaving it face down doesnt mute it (ie the act of turning it over silences it). To do this you need to change the registry, you can find the right key to change with a quick search.
