Opera 9.5 SIP Problems - General Questions and Answers

I have Touchpal set as my default keyboard but it seems that Opera 9.5 keep changing it to the tiny Microsoft qwerty. Nothing I have tried allows me to keep Touchpal as the default. And I've used several different builds of Opera, including the ones that supposedly don't have keyboard issues. Any ideas as to what I can do to fix this? I have an HTC Vogue, if that matters. Thanks for your help!

I don't have a definitive answer, but just for kicks why don't you try a different alternative keyboard, such as Resco or SPB or PocketCM Keyboard. I personally use SPB keyboard and have never had this problem though half a dozen more versions of Opera. Every time I hear about this problem, it's always with TouchPal. I begin to suspect it's more a TouchPal problem than an Opera problem.

I've run into this problem with Resco, TouchPal, PocketCM, and (I believe) SPB. Still holding out for a definitive solution.

winmo phones switchto default keyboard when they switch on, so if you have soft reset itll go back to default ms keyboard try these install one of them and tell it what you want default to be then it should save that as default i have pcm all through my phone thanks to these

I just typically use my hardware keyboard, or else my bluetooth virtual keyboard.

yeah i noticed this when i got my kaiser even if i set my default as pcm using the in built menu it would still go to the white box keyboard. so this let you use anyking even touchpal

that's true to any browser and application tho.. not only opera
you should use SIPChange by Sleuth

SIPChange isnt working for me. It still defaults back to the microsoft keyboard. Not sure what to do.

this is because your delay is short.
you need to set the delay by using a regeditor..
go to HKCU/Software/The Paradigm Group/sipchange/parameters and change the value of Delay to 25 decimal.

I tried a delay of 15 earlier with no success. Do you really think a delay of 25 is really going to help?

I'm pretty surprised but changing the delay to 20 actually worked! For all those having issues with Touchpal reverting from default, change the delay in steps of 5 until you find a value that works.

PocketCM Keyboard

Just a quick question - I'm getting a little confused here...
Does PocketCM-Keyboard run on the Polaris or not (I hear there's some problems with XT9)?
If it does: would there be a guide on how to set it up properly (apart from what's on the PocketCM Homepage)?
Thanks a lot!
It runs on my Polaris.
Take just the .Cab on PocketCM Homepage if you don't want to take the .Exe.
After installing, do a soft reset and it will be OK.
@+
I heard that you have to disable xt9. Is that not the case?

Nope. XT9 only come as default input mode for pocket contact manager. PocketCM keyboard is totally different and a lot better than the default keyboard.

I wasn't referring to Pocket Contact. I heard from other Touch owners that you would need to disable xt9 in order for other kb's to work properly throughout the rest of the system. One of the examples would be using a regular kb when typing in a contact name in the email address to field.
buggy with T9

HTC Keyboard or other keyboards like resco Keyboard wont work only built in ones

Recently put 6.1 rom on (cooked one).
The built in keyboard works nicely. However, the HTC Touch or any other ie. resco keyboard pro will not work. It appears in Input and setup correctly. But when you goto word, or another app and click the box to show input methods select the other htc or resco it just goes to normal keyboard.
Any ideas how to fix this as its REALLY annoying.

Thanks for the quick reply. It works perfectly
One more thing. Is it possible to totally delete the touch keyboards and the normal WM keyboard?
As far as I know, the Touch Keyboards are part of the ROM, as is the 'ordinary' keyboard. It would be most unwise to try to delete them altogether. Especially the 'ordinary' keyboard, it comes in handy sometimes when surfing or filling in an online form etc. Not all applications 'like' TouchPal or PCM Keyboard.
You can use something like S-K tools to disable some SIPs, I have disabled block recogniser and something else I can't remember. But, these don't bother me now, as SipChange just puts TouchPal on for me, I never really notice the others any more, except occasionally I'm forced to use the standard keyboard.

Resco Keyboard Pro 6 Beta is out!!!

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=6681501
Not affiliated with Resco in anyway, but I want other HD2 owners to try this. I installed it today and must say I'm hugely impressed. It's like our standard HTC keyboard, except it's much more accurate. XT9 is not available, but with accuracy like this, I don't need it anymore. Finally a keyboard that's at least as good as the iPhone one! Beats anything else I've tried so far. Like it's made specifically for HD2 (probably is...)
i prefer it in portrait mode and as you mention its way more accurate but I'm not that fussed with landscape mode and no smilies
Yeah, Landscape mode is missing in this beta version, but I do most of my typing in portrait mode anyway. Still, it's very promising. As for smilies, I guess you can add them yourself in the "FX" page.
Edit: My bad, seems like Landscape mode IS included, but you have to reselect Resco Keyboard everytime when you change from portrait to landscape and vice versa. Still, the landscape mode is buggy, covers the whole SMS screen so you cannot read what you type.
Resco Keyboard Pro 6
Excellent keyboard Thank You It works well with my fingers and so much more accurate than the std one Thanks Where do I get the full version?
how do u install it? im a noob....
Pretty cool keyboard but when I try to type quickly the keyboard keeps switching screens
keyboard is nice but had to go back to default. it keeps switching pages on my if i go too fast, would switch page if i typed to letters really fast
what about t9 or word predoction?
Is this better than the CooTek TouchPal Pro keyboard?
Is this better than the CooTek TouchPal Pro keyboard? I love it for it's finger swiping features. Does this have swiping features as well?
Resco Keyboard Pro 6 beta on my HTC HD2
I've tried many and so far, this is the best! (^_^)
Sure, it needs a fair bit of work to make it fully usable and a complete replacement of any OS included keybaord, but it's very damn close!
Nice work Resco, your products are becoming some of my most favourite essentials and recommended. [^_^]
Looking forward to the final and meanwhile, I'll try to post up some real user feedback tomorrow.
Resco Keybaord Pro 6 (Beta / 3rd June 2010)
So far *2/3*
not sure,
I am not sure why this didnt get more attention but the Resco Keyboard has undergone some additional changes and many of the quirks have been ironed out best of all fixes is the landscape works now and you can actually see what you are typing!
The link to the new download is on post 46 (page 4 or 5 i think)
only problem with this now is that it doesnt support the auto input of contacts when writing an sms. you still have to do the old bacspace once to get a list of possible contacts...was there ever a fix for that bug?
it went final on the 15th june
have you tried the final version?

Keyboard options

I am looking for some options for the on screen keyboard on my HTC HD2. Does anyone have any suggestions for it ?
You can try Finger Keyboard 2.1 . To me it is the best among the others
Why? do you not like the plain look of windows mobile keyboard. I have swype as a second keyboard option.
Search DINIK, he has skinned the normal keyboard. all my friends envy the 3D eye candy keyboard... i definitely display that more than swype now give it a try!
Finger Keyboard 2.1 has skins for it an suports alot of languges
i think you will find it the most sutable kebord for your needs

Depends what youre after. If you like the standard k/board but want a better look, Dinik has a great skin and there are several skins floating around for this.
If you dont like the functionality of it, there are many alternative keyboards. For me i have tried Touchpal (great touch style, layout, fast etc), Swype (many threads and vids on this, no typing, more like sliding), SlideIT (similiar to Swype) etc.
I used to use swype, found out it was the reason my phone was crashing, now i'm using slidet which is similar,no freezing or crashing..

Curious, what version of Swype were you using. Just asking as i use both Swype and SlideIT, i can never make up mind so constantly changing between the 2. SlideIT flows better, faster, abbreviations etc but sometimes i type a certain words and SlideIT just doesnt get it, produces the ?? however type same words with Swype, no problem. SlideIT's ugly too so sometimes like the look of Swpe so ive used both for ages, no probs.
Only problem i had when i had both and Touchpal installed same time. On its own, it worked great but when i had all 3 installed, often the keyboard wouldnt respond so i had to soft reset. Uninstalled Touchpal, problem went away.
try latest Resco Keyboard
