Hello i am new hear and im hoping someone can help me not meny people reply to "help me" but hear goes
i have on my home screen "text message 0 " then it will change to 1 when i get a text of coruse but when i click it it open up the standerd sms program can i change this to open up a diffrent sms program that i have installed?
hope that makes sence and i hope someone help help me iv tryed all sorts thanks gary
hey do u connect ur phone to pc thru activesync...if so check the time and date settings in pc...this may be..i am nt sure..

just been a nosey person before checking in on whats happening.
i decided to flash my MDA Vario. ive tried two different packages now.
Core_2.0n

but on both of them i get the same problem, my contact list wont load.
if i hit contacts it goes to load and shuts it again, i dont understand why?
would anyone care to share some light on the subject, or even better
have a solution lol !! i dont really wana go back to WM5 now.. but
not being able to add numbers, or get into my contacts is rather anoying!

Did you backup your contacts before upgrading and then restored back to your phone again after upgrading ?
By backup, I hope you mean via activesync?
no i didnt make a backup .. at all. do i need to make some kind of backup then to get the contacts menu to work???
as i cant even access the menu it goes to load but shuts itself ?

Oh dude, just hard reset your device. It'll be fine.
did you install pocketcm?
does your sms inbox still work?
ive tried hardreset... no difference.
yes my sms inbox works fine, this was with pocketCM and normal contacts list.

just go into the file explorer go to my device look for the pim file and rename it. then soft reset your device. it should work after that
does it matter what i should rename it to ?.... ?
i renamed the pim file to "c" soft reset... and HEY presto it works thank you everyone.

Here is the thing:
when you got new sms or missed call if you read them and reset your device after wake up there is none of them still there!! that's right lazy WM keep loosing all your new sms if you don't give them a big rest time before reset!!
Don't believe it ? try this:
Text massage your self. after recieve it ,read it and then reset your device . after your windows boot up completely try to find your massage in inbox. It's gone? Yeees it's lost and there is no way to recover it back!! It's not majic . It's how WM works!!
I'm little bit confused why we call our device Smart Phone and all others Dumb phone!!

whats the solution ? anything to save info , over and over ? thats annoying to be scared of loosing some text messages or calls or even files when we have pocket PCs!!!

I have a simple question (I think), but can't seem to find the answer...
After calling an unknown number normally my phone asks me if I want to save that number to my contacts. Today however, I wasn't thinking and accidentally clicked "Don't ask me this again" in staid of the "yes" button.
I would like to switch that option back on, but I can't seem to find the option... I've searched in my phone settings, Google and the XDA-Forum.
I'm kinda PPC noobish, so I don't know if this is a standard WM6.1 function or if this is a function backed into the ROM I flashed onto my HTC-Touch (the ShadoW 2.0 ROM by Cloudyfa (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=363637)).
It's a small thing, but something I find useful to use so I hope someone can give me the answer Thanks in advance!

Hi ,I have a problem with my phone .It`s been updated with D.R. Gonzo rom,everything was fine until yesterday when the message notification reminder (vibrate) started when there was no messages to check.Now it`s got worse and is constantly vibrating ,the only time it stops is when i make a call. Can anyone give me some advice on how to stop this ?or point me in the direction of a thread that may help .

If you want to get rid of it, you can either delete the file for the startup folder, or you can temporary kill the mortscript process.

Can you give me some simple instructions on how to do either of those things ?i`m willing to try anything at the moment ,just to stop it.

This is happening to me too, and it has started yesterday.
coincidence or a common bug?
browse to the folder \windows\startup\
and delete this file - 'notify.mscr'
that will solve your problem

I need help. My phone is unlocked and prepaid[cingular] so it always makes this noise when i send a message or recieve a message despite the fact that all sounds to the phone are silenced. I tried to silence all notifications and yet it still made the noise. I want to delete the tone all together and maybe put a blank file there that makes no noise. I found the tone its called notify and I tried to erase it but its locked aka the delete button is greyed out. I tried to install a windows unlocker on my phone but a pop up kept comming up saying that the file is not valid/permitted and it could not be downloaded[windows wouldn't allow it]. If you have any methods or solutions for me to solve this problem respond ASAP!!!

Have you tried going to Start->Settings->Personal->Sounds & Notifications, clicking on the Notifications tab and changing your preferences there?

I have change this notify.wma file to the one that has the diamond and it works....
First make a sound in wma yours or a blank noised ok?
Then sync your mda to activesync full sync (I mean say yes to all the windows of outlook, uncheck all options of sinced files, contacts, favorites etc etc) to make an association.
Open in activesync "explore" then open the windows folder and drag your file notify to overwrite the other one default file, it works! jeje.
Im from mexico and the noise makes me get mad.

You can remove the setting for sending and reciving mesages with snaps advance configutation or SK Tools
Other option is to change the settings by sounds & messages in the settings part personal

and do whatever you want to your registry and files .. wherever they may be
and dont ever let this pesky phone tell you that it cant do what you want it to do !

WHY I cant do that with my total commander? with some files... like delete some ringtone. even overwrite.
