Hello everybody,
I've got a problem with installing maps on the xda Orbit 2 device.
I have a default UK and Ireland maps on it, but I'm from Balkan and want to using Balkan maps or Central European maps.
I tried to intstall maps like most users suggest by posting the link (in pdf). But I didn't succeed with it.
So please help me, how to install other map region on the device.
Thanks
Luke
Does anyone know how to do that?
you get a copilot central disk with the orbit 2. you need to purchase the map via this app.
Have you purchased the maps you want?

Has any one else had problems with tomtom6 loseing maps?
I have to reinstall the app (not the maps) to get them back - so doent look like a sd card problem.
cheers
Dan
I did a soft reset and they came back
The version of tomtom preinstalled on the Touch Cruise allows only the use of a city map that you can unload free.
The maps that you had before don't work. You must buy her.

Thats not true. The pre-installed version of TT works just fine with all maps.
It has no problem at all with Western Europe & Benelux maps.

Well not quite. On my Touch Cruise, I downloaded a free map of Athens Greece, and it was fine. I then bought the full US-Cnada package, and TomTom does not see them on the phone? TT has not responded yet? The maps show as in place on TomTomHome, but I cannot navigate the program to the maps through the TT preferrences?
The Tom tom I've got is not a preinstalled version.
I've tryed restarting with no luck.

Just a wild guess, but have you transferred it from TomTom Home to the phone? as far as i know, it won't do it automatically, you have to push the transfer button (not sure what it's called, and can't check since my phone is in for service)
Hello all
I have a slight problem i had co-pilot installed nicely then my memory card decided to wipe itself and now have lost the maps, since the co-pilot program wont reinstall them would it be possible for soemone to upload the UK and Ireland maps for me to download and get them again. Or if this is not possible to point me in the direction of getting them again.
Cheers for the help
I'm desperately searching for GARMIN for android (xperia x10)
why? is the navigation app not sufficient? i find it much smoother and more up to date (AND FREE) in comparison to any Smartphone based TBT navigation software so far.
well. Current navigation needs GPRS connection. In rooming is very expensive downloading maps. Garmin's maps are on SD card
I must admit, it would be nice if you can download a certain area of maps.
For example, if you are going on holiday, it would be nice to have the maps for Spain already on your SD card so that when you are lost, you can get back to your hotel/restaurant/pub etc. Not necessarily just for TBT, but top down maps too.
I do think (for local journeys) the maps downloads before the navigation starts, so that if you do lose 3g/GPRS signal you still have a visual map, and it also downloads the street view level of the destination (in my experience, it loads very quickly when you reach your destination, so I believe it is pre-downloaded)
Maybe its something that Google would take into consideration if people asked them for it (or a dev for 'hacked' versions of Google maps)
EDIT: should also note that Garmin isn't yet released on Android. They will soon be releasing a Garmin Android phone. Maybe after that they will release the TBT Nav as a standalone app
There are other apps that not need GPRS to work.
Navigon
Ndrive
SygicMobile
iGO (not for x10 at the moment)
CoPilot8
They are not free but you can buy individual country maps.
hopla - Which country are you in? Google maps works really well in the UK and a few other places now - and doesn't need GPRS.
Just download iGO but Motonav version and you will be very satisfied ! I am using it and it is great. Dont know if I can put some links to cracked versions but just google "iGO Motonav" and download version for Milestone ( 854x480 ).
Cheers
i would like to use the Garmin GPS navigation too. The motonav isnt that good to me. I have compared with the current navigon GPS and motonav, and found out that motonav usually points for longer distance travel.
note: i am living in US.
Copilot is the one working the best so far,the map are updated and it work flawlessly on the x10
i would like garmin for my android as well, i love google maps and the navigation, but garmin maps supports custom maps such as for western canada being able to search by LSD (Legal Subdivision) which normally looks like 12-14-15-18w4 anyone who works oilfield, or outside of a city office uses it in AB/SK/MB
Garmin seems to be the only mapping that comes with or has an add-on for inputing those type of addresses
Here in Asia (Thailand / Cambo / Laos / Vietnam) Garmin is the only routing game in town really..
So all other suggestions, while valid for some territories, are moot if we dont have maps for the region.

to do routing you still need a data plan...all brute force does is cache the map to the area you've browsed and it gives you your current location
also, browsing the map at different zoom levels takes forever
If you need custom maps for android the solution is Navitel, ($28 in Android market), make your map with gpsmapedit (version free) and export in Navitel map (with routing, and no need data plan). It´s very easy.
co-pilot 8 pro has been excellent. If they release a tomtom version well thats the one I like best. I travel alot so tomtom has been perfect for me.
You should check out navigon, I use it myself and I'm very impressed, I tried some of the others but didn't like them. It's worth a look.

Are there any good free offline maps apps for Europe and North America?
Mapdroyd, AndNav2 (need to manually make data offline), maybe also Brut Maps (hacked google maps).
Thank you! will give it a try. BTW how about OsmAnd?
Also check out Locus. None of these apps are really great, but one might be sufficient for what you need. I just tried using several of them while I was in Europe without a data connection and usually had trouble.
i'm currently using mapDroyd. it is really good if you just want a simple map with no navigation etc. the maps for the entire world are free also. of course some countries' maps are not complete as i doubt even that country has its own maps complete. but europe and north america are complete for sure.
´There´s a good program called Ndrive and run it offline.
Hi. I have bought Navigon Europe on Market Place but I wont to install all the maps related to Europe, I'm only interested for Italy Maps and I found Navigon Content v1.6 on web.
After I downloaded the maps and other files, I started the Content server that will update my Navigon. But Navigon on the phone display: "Connection failed. Please try again later. A WLAN or PC (Zune) is required to download the missing data."
What's wrong?
Thanks.

Unfortunately, the latest Navigon version does not let you download individual countries, unless you make changes to the program. This has been accomplished via Navigon Content, which you found. That however was deemed illegal as it changes the way the program was intended to work by the company. There is no support for this as it is considered warez. Version 4 will always try to download all content based on your region (US, EU etc). That is somewhere around 2Gb of map data. Hopefully they will release a version that allows you to download ONLY maps you actually need. For now your only option is to contact them.
To get the maps onto your phone you need to connect your device to the PC and have Zune client open and recognize the phone. Once you open Navigon 4 in this state it will download the maps via your PCs internet connection.
good luck
check your PM
I heard that NAVIGON will release versions of the specifications for each state in future. Thanks a lot for your explain.
Well, I have the same problem. Too much space required (2GB). Do you know how to contact Navigon to ask for an optional map installer?
