Is there exist a WM 6.x software to:
- measure the performance / condition of the PDA battery whether it is still 100% or less due to the usage (charge/discharge) and the "memory-effect"?
- create the report of the power consumption for each application?
Something like Nokia Energy Profiler for Symbian 9.x. I think this could be helpful in deciding the best Radio ROM to use, or perhaps for the chefs to select which applications to be included in their cooked ROMs

I was about to create this exact same post, as I'm looking for a good battery benchmark program. When I was a Palm user, BatteryTime was pretty standard for the task, and I'm wondering if there's a commonly used feature-rich battery benchmarker for WinMo?
But with the "this thread will be deleted" warning, I'm not really sure what violation has occurred here and I don't really want to repeat it. The Common Guide thread doesn't appear to have any battery program section, and this is the most on topic post in the Q&A subforum.

I'm a regular on the HTC tytn part of this board and have been quite active in updating the wiki and making it functional.
I thought i'd wonder over to this board and took a look at the wiki and have to admit, was sort of shocked. it's one enormous page that's not very intuitive!
I'm going to shift around some stuff to make the wiki for your device easier to browse and navigate, would love for you guys to help out with this venture!

WM6 definitely deserves a page of its own, complete with download links, links to threads etc. it does not deserve to be in the middle of some enormous page where most people can't even see it! it's linked back to the main wiki page under the contents page, which is easier to follow.
suggestions welcome, and please help in overhauling the poor state of the wizard's wiki!!

I think, this rom is realy good. Realy. Not many ppl use it, but almost all of my friends that tried this rom, confirmed, that it's very ok.
You should probably rename the page to reflect the device it is for. The current name implicates it is a general WM6 page - which is not in fact.

awesome suggestion, silly of me. i've renamed the page to wizard_wm_6
I've updated the Wiki (Thanks for setting this up) with information and download links to my Crossbow Released rom.
Also I would like to make an observation... I disagree with the description of The Core, in that it says this is the best rom for Newbies (or thats how I read it)... Since this is a Clean / "core" rom, I don't know that I would call this a good general starting rom for someone new. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying The Core 2.0 isn't good, I'm just saying the claim that its the best rom for newbies is maybe misleading as many newbies want more than just a base rom. XPlore 1.1 (IMO) is actually a better rom for someone just starting out as it comes with some apps in it. Then Wizard Mobile 6 Business Edition is very nice with the set of apps in it too... Its just all of the roms have strengths and weaknesses, so to me calling a single rom the best for Newbies may be misleading. Let them choose what fits for them (or setup some type of Matrix to compare the roms).
BTW: This isn't criticism of this new WiKi page at all? I just wanting to provide feedback so this can become a valuable resource for the Wizard community (and I really appreciate you starting this project for us. Now I need to get back to working on the WM6 Cooking wiki pages I was setting up)

Is it just me (and my boring cable internet connection) or is this forum actually getting slower and slower?
Sometimes I click on a board and wait up to 30 seconds that it actually opens.
I am sure there is not much that can be done other than trying to delete old threads to reduce the size of the forum or - something even more impossible - switch the forum software / server / database type ...
But I do hope it is my ISP, so, I will be patient each time I try to enter a board.

a tiny idea which might help decreasing the future ammount of posts: Since XDA Developers is more a place for development and cooking, general support requests which have nothing to do with any of the cooked ROMs and developed software should just be removed - it is in fact increasing that this forum gets abused for free support rather than discussing ROMs and development.
I have added a poll to see what other members think.

With "general support" I mean support requests which have nothing to do with cooked ROMs or in this forums provided software, hacks and apps! People should contact their manufacturer or service provider rather than posting here - that is what warranty is for!
This area is currently experimental and was set up by the XDA Administrators for development discussion. The idea in this section is for developers (not only recognized developers, but all developers) to have a place for discussion threads to "talk shop." What kind of talk? Some topics (that I'm making up as I type this) might include (and are certainly not limited to):
Overriding the power widget in the notification dropdown
Considerations of using gcc versions other than 4.4.3 for compiling the kernel
Tegra3: discussion on working around the SOC wake from sleep delay
This isn't a Q&A forum. However, developers might kick off discussions with a question. The difference? This belongs in Q&A: "My phone wakes up slow, will it go faster if I take my sdcard out?" On the other hand, the following might belong in this new section: "Has anyone tried adjusting the mmc detection timeouts to see if there's an impact on the SOC wakeup delays?" The assumption here is that the person asking the latter question actually knows what a mmc detection timeout is, how they'd change it, and has started to play around with it before posting the question.
As well, this section is not for posting finished products or "advertising" of kernels, apps, etc. This section is to discuss the process, not for the end result.
The hope (at least my own hope) is that developers can discuss things here instead of resorting the various other methods of communication we've used. At the same time, newer developers and even non-developers can LEARN from the conversations and eventually participate.
Depending on the reception (and difficulty moderating, probably) this experiment will either be expanded for other device types, completely shut down as a failure, or adjusted. Obviously, if we developers don't use it, it might be considered a waste of time and dissolved.
This section will be very closely moderated by moderators who are also developers and non-development discussion will be harshly dealt with.

Please direct my question, as the 'similar threads' feature for 'XDA Assist' shows there are no 'hits' for 'oprofile'.
One of my Android phones (the second in my signature), with limited /data partition storage size, shows a large subdirectory, 'oprofile' in /data/bin/oprofile. Running out of space in this partition seems to be a common problem, so I'd like to keep it as lean as possible.
Some research shows oprofile to be a tool for 'tuning' an Android setup -- but exactly when it's useful is not clear, from what I've been able to find.
My question is, is oprofile purely useful during development stages, while Android is being configured for a specific phone's harddware? In this case, perhaps someone just forgot to delete it, after it served its purpose -- and then, there's no harm in removing this subdirectory and regaining the space it consumes.
Or, does oprofile serve an continuing purpose, being used by the OS to continue the 'tuning' -- as the user adds new apps? In this case, that directory is functional and should be left alone. Or, is there data in these files, created during the initial 'tuning' that must be retained, for the benefits to continue?
Into which forum would this type of question be most productively posted?
