As the title reads out, I was wanting to know if the USCC TP2 will ever work on 3G because Edge is getting a little slow... I have seen the "G" up on my bar before but quickly goes away, so that leads me to believe that it could be possible.
Also, I heard that hardware is compatible with the 3G network. So please, could someone that knows more into this tell me if anything will work or even MIGHT work?

i would also like to know because i just unlocked the us cellular touch pro 2 for use on att. but when i try the internet it just says dialed 777 failed
Hey, in order for that dialed 7777 error to go away, you need to add ATT internet settings instead of the original carrier settings.
So do this...
Go to your Data Connection options
Add New Connection
Then Put this in for the info:
wap.cingular for the APN
[email protected] - username
CINGULAR1 - password
That should work, of course there is an ATT data cab somewhere, but thats how you set it up manually, I hope this helped!

E = EDGE
G = Slower than EDGE and nothing to do with 3G.
You're not going to get that phone to work on ATT 3G/UMTS. The band support simply isn't there.

Based on phonearena's tech specs though the TP2 cant even reach full 3g on verizon's network. Here is the link to some verizon phones:

The phone has 3g capability, it is not accessing the full power of the network due to hardware though. If AT&T nerfs their non-iPhones to EDGE then that is what you will max at. If you look at the palm pixi or pre it has faster data speeds because of the hardware. In other words i'm not really sure if faster speeds are capable (due to hardware restrictions) and on AT&T i'm even more unsure because of how their apple contract is structured.
Ah that sounds really crazy! Lol, I wish things were simple. And now, I am noticing my Multimedia Messages aren't going though, I am not sure what that is from though. Anyone have a clue on that?

What are you talking about? The CDMA TP2 can very well reach 3G speed (EVDO Rev A) on Sprint and Verizon. It'll also reach 3G speed on European WCDMA/UMTS networks. The ATT TP will reach 3G speed on ATT and European WCDMA/UMTS networks.
The statement above doesn't make any sense.

All that's required is that you use a version of the phone on a network with a compatible band. The ATT, TMO, Sprint, VZW, etc. TP2s will all reach 3G ontheir respective networks with no problem. When used on other networks the phones may or may not have support for the 3G band used by the network. If it doesn't have the band support then it's not going to work.

Please stop making stuff up. This is absolutely not true. The TP2 is not "nerfed." You just need to use the correct model (ie ATT version) on ATT if you want 3G on ATT.

It is simple. Stupid simple.
If you want 3G you buy the version of the phone that supports the 3G band that your carrier is using.
As far as MMS, you need to make sure that your account is data enabled and that your phone has the data settings for your carrier loaded.
I found a cab that worked for my ATT MMS settings, that was no problem, but like I stated, I have a US Cellular TP2, so it is not a Tilt 2 (ATT) or I would not be posting in the CDMA section of the TP2 forums.
As far as I know the US Cellular device (TP2) has the hardware requirements of ATT 3G network, and I am asking why will it not work up to 3G speeds? Only thing I could think of is that there is not a specific radio for this yet, or something... because the specs of the USC TP2 does in fact work with the 3G bands of ATT.
So what is stopping the device from connecting to it?

According to all of the hardware specs, none of the TP2 CDMA variants support the 3G bands used by ATT. It will not work because it is simply not compatible.
If you want to use it in Europe or Japan, you'll get 3G. But as far as using it in the US on ATT or TMO, you're only going to get EDGE speeds because those are the only US bands that it supports.
The only versions of the TP2 that support ATT's 3G bands are the ATT version and (if launched) the Australian GSM version. The CDMA versions, the Euro version and the TMO US version will not support ATT 3G.

All the specs I read, the Verizon CDMA phone supports Quad band GSM
GSM Quad-band phone capable of global roaming (850/900/1800/1900 MHz)
CDMA dual band (1900/800 MHz)
UMTS European/Asian 3G (2100 MHz)
Does this not cover the 3G bands ATT uses? I thought it was 1900?

GSM = GPRS (2G) and EDGE (2.5G)
UMTS = 3G
ATT uses GSM 850/1900 for 2G/2.5G and UMTS/WCDMA 850/1900 for 3G.
If you use a CDMA Touch Pro 2 on ATT it'll work on 2G/2.5G (since it is compatible) but it won't work on 3G since the band support isn't there.
If ATT used UMTS 2100 it would work.

TMo US uses UMTS 2100 for 3G so you should be able to get 3G on TMo but not ATT.

TMO US uses UMTS 1700.
While it technically uses both 1700 and 2100 channels, UMTS 1700 is not the same as UMTS 2100 (used in Europe).
So no, the Sprint TP2 won't use UMTS 2100 on TMO US. It'll just use Edge. Now TMO UK (or anywhere in Europe) it'll get 3G because there they use UMTS 2100.

I know how At&t are gonna have HSPA+ 4g, I'm confused about the new devices they're gonna have that support HSPA+. Are they going to be able to connect to HSPA+ on T-Mobile's network.
So for example, I buy an unlocked HSPA+ tablet from AT&T, straight from their store. Is it going to be able to use T-Mobile's HSPA+ network if I put a T-Mobile SIM card inside?
Also, one last question, if I use T-Mobile's SIM card, do I have to do some special stuff to get it to work on their cell network? Like how you have to unlock an iPhone for it to work on T-Mobile?

Unfortunately you will not be able to use HSPA+. HSPA+ is just an extension/revision of the current 3G. Effectively it is also called 3.5G/3.75G in some reports. They use the same 3G band of each respective company. The At&t tablet would work on 850/1900 band and T-mobile will work on their AWS (1700) band. So if you bought an At&t tablet, you may need to get it unlocked, not sure if they lock the sim on tablets. At best you would get Edge service with a T-mobile sim.

NP. I have had every major carrier offered in the US. I have had at&t, t-mobile, and sprint within the last year. I had verizon a while ago and dropped them because they could never get my bill right. Honestly, the service is about the same. The question is how is the service in your area. I mainly stay in my area about 90-98% of the time. I live in a major city so all carries have great service. But I have stayed with At&t for the last few years. Every time I go to another carrier I kept my at&t service, go figure. So I would just look at coverage to where you travel the most and go with a carrier that will give you the best coverage for the best price. Do i prefer a carrier over another, yeah. I like GSM carriers better because I do like to surf and talk at the same time. Sprint can do this if your in a 4G coverage area and have a 4G phone. Verizon is a no go with this feature until they release their LTE phones. But At&t has a better coverage footprint than T-mobile that is why I stick with them. Hope it helps.
Wondering a bit about this too.
I have service through Bendbroadband using a HSPA+ SIM with USB modem Dongle by bandluxe. The service is stellar on the speed, but I can't use the dongle with everything (iPad), so looking for alternate routes before i decide to move to a different provider.
I noticed that the CTO of the company said in a comment regarding their service that any unlocked UE that supports HSPA/HSPA+ in the AWS band could be used, but also had an unclear reponse on cell phones with HSPA+.
I have a Huawei Comet (unlocked), it lists the same AWS Bands compatible, but says HSDPA (which I thought HSDPA + HSUPA = HSPA+ but at higher speeds, correct me if I am wrong), and has hotspot tether that works with tmobile web service no problem.
I plugged the SIM in, and it updates the bar with BendBroadband but I get no data. (might need to provide the IMEI or something)..
Curious if you think it should work, before i go knocking on their doors.

the mytouch 4g (HSPA+) lists the bands as:850 MHz;900 MHz;1800 MHz;1900 MHz;UMTS: Band IV (1700/2100)

I am fairly sure the comet is HSPA+ but not advertised that way.
According to comments on the site, Bendbroadband technicians do not actually support moving of the SIMs. Bummer.. trying to keep my business local.. Bumping and moving to Tmobile once the month is up.

I am thinking of buying an International version of the 7.0 plus (P6200) but I'm having a hard time figuring out which US Carrier, if any, (AT&T, T-Moble or Verizon) is fully compatible with the table's supported frequencies.
Any help in pointing me to the carrier, that will allow the tablet to get 3g data and allow the tablet to make phone calls, would be greatly appreciated.
Also, if you are using a P6200 in the US, I would be interested in what carrier you use, your opinions of the carrier and your opinion of the tablet in general.

I'm not familar witht eh international model but I can tell you that it won't work with Sprint or Verizon as they are CDMA and not GSM. So that leaves T-Mobile and AT&T and it would depend upon what frequency the GTab7+ recieves, is it tri-band (850, 1800, 1900) or just a single band? AT&T uses 850/1900 MHz and T-Moblile 1900 MHz for 3G service. I would assume that it would be tri-band as are so called "world phones".
TMo also requires UMTS1700.
So almost surely it will NOT get 3G service on TMo. That's why there is a special Tmo variant.

it appears that it supports all the frequencies for AT&T and T-Mobile. I guess my confusion is I can't tell if the tablet will support 3G or just 2G (wouldn't be worth it if all I could get is 2G).

Sorry I got a little confused between tabs and phones. Verizon uses EV-DO (CDMA based) for 3G and AT&T is HSDPA (GSM based) at 1900 MHz. T-Mobile uses 1700 and 2100 MHz for 3G.
warning, if you plan on using as phone and tab, at&t may want to make sure you are on tab data plan as well an it could be pricey for both.
with that being said Im using this on att with voice and unlimited grandfathered smartphone data. havent heard a word from them. I pray it stays this way. I will fight them for it.
conclusion: best mobile device in the world right now IMHO, until 7.7 comes out.

I have GT-P620900 from the Philippines and I am my tablet in the US now. I tested using at&t sim card and it works when I tried making a call using sim card (gsm).

With the posted frequencies:
2G Network GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900
3G Network HSDPA 900 / 1900 / 2100
it will work perfectly for 3G (HSDPA/HSPA+) speeds only on AT&T. You should get 2-4 Mbps downlink, or maybe even more with a good signal on AT&T.
Unfortunately for T-Mobile (whom I also prefer over AT&T), it will only work on their 2G network, at EDGE speeds, which would be about 200 Kbps if you are lucky. Actually, EDGE speeds are good enough for twitter, facebook, and a bit of surfing, but would be frustratingly slow for YouTube or downloading apps.
The Tab 7plus will NOT work on Sprint or Verizon as their CDMA, LTE, and WiMax networks are different technology from GSM and HSDPA and thus not compatible.
Internationally, the 7plus should work on almost any 2G or 3G network, with maybe a few country exceptions here and there.
BTW if you decide to activate your 7plus on AT&T, I can share a bit of experience. I received a Tab 7.7 3G this week, with a similar frequency list to the 7plus. (Unfortunately, it also lacks the "AWS" 1700/2100 band for T-Mobile). I went to an AT&T store today to activate the 7.7 on a month-to-month data plan, of US$25 for 2GB with US$10 per each 1GB of overage. They were not able to assign the data plan in their system to me, because the 7.7 3G is not an AT&T device. The same will be true for your 7plus. What they did to get it to work was to take the IMEI number from one of the other tablets they had on display in the store - making sure it was an HSDPA tablet, and not an LTE one - and used that to activate my account. It took them a while to figure this out, but when they did, it worked. Once the account was activated, and the SIM card was in my 7.7, it found AT&T service and I immediately got a welcome text message. However, data did not yet work - for that I had to do one more thing, which the staff did not know about (but luckily I did).
Go into Settings->Wireless and Networks->Mobile Network Settings
In there is an "Access Point Names" item.
Click on this, and you should see some entries. If it's a new AT&T SIM, it likely says "Cingular 410" or "wap.cingular" or something. This would be correct for a phone, but does not work with tablet data plans, so we need to add the correct one.
Bring up the menu, and there should be a "New APN" option. Select this. In the form which comes up, in the "Name" field, enter "broadband" (one word, no caps, without the quotes). In the "APN" field, do the same - "broadband" one word, no caps, no quotes.
Once you've done this, hit the menu again, and there should be a "Save" option. Choose this, and it will take you back to the list of APNs. Now in the list there should be an APN item called "broadband" which you just created. Press the radio button to the far right of the broadband item. It should turn green.
Give the tablet a few seconds, or a minute, and data should start working!

I have both the T-Mobile and the international unlocked version. I have the latter because, in my excitement, I didn't take care to find out if it will work on T-Mobile's 3G speeds. To my dismay, it doesn't, and I have an extra phone.
I'm wondering if it will work on any other carrier's 3G/4G data speeds. Searching forums and support threads haven't gotten me any answers. Any help at all would be appreciated.
I bought mine in Britain and am using it quite happily here in Japan. T-Mobile USA has a relatively rare frequency band internationally; I think as long as you have 2100MHz and 900MHz bands, which this phone has, there should be an operator in almost every country that the phone will work on. In fact, it should work on most operators in most countries.
The phone has 850/900/2100 MHz bands for 3G; T-Mobile runs "4G" (actually 3G) on 1700/2100 aka AWS - this requires BOTH bands to be present in the phone, which is why the One S doesn't work. T-Mo USA also has 1900MHz, again not present in the One S. Can you get EDGE 2G data, which should be possible on 850MHz?
In the USA, it should work on AT&T, as they use 850MHz for 3G. Maybe you can find someone who will lend you a SIM to check it.
In Europe & Asia, it should generally work no problem.
Hey guys i recently unlocked my HOX and tossed a T-Mobile chip in it. Is there a way for me to get a better data speed? I'm only able to use 2G at the moment.
You can't simply enable it, as T-Mobile uses the 1700 AWS spectrum for 3G/4G in most of their areas. The HOX doesn't support 1700. T-Mobile's older 2G network runs on 1900mhz, which the HOX will pick up, but you'll be limited to EDGE speeds.
There is good news though. T-Mobile is currently in the process of upgrading those areas to support 3G/4G on the 1900mhz spectrum they have. Their main goal is to attract iPhone customers (since the iPhone also cannot run on their 1700mhz network). From what I've heard they're doing a pretty good job, but until they get your area upgraded, you'll be stuck on EDGE.
