hello all,
we are proud to release our first product, power schedule 1.0:
power schedule is a power management utility unlike any other similar applications. its main feature is the ability to allow the user to select a custom power on/power off schedule for Pocket PC battery consumers (phone, bluetooth, wireless lan and backlight). among these features, we have included a today plugin that displays the next power event, battery levels and icons for wireless lan, bluetooth, phone and backlight. also, a background application checks battery every once in a while, prompting you or automatically turning off consumers when battery reaches a critical level.
please post your comments and ideas for improvements by sending us an e-mail at [email protected]

anyone, any comments? we're really waiting for your feedback
If we can try it we can comment on it. Where is it? :l
hi there,
where the link to download? used google and it's not even featured. and if you turn off bluetooth i would wonder if this destroys the present bond it has with the headsets.
cheers
This my own opinion based on how I use my PDA, but i don't see the point in automatically turning on/off at a certain time.
features :
- auto turn off battery consumers on low battery => this could be useful, for unexperienced users)
- notify on low battery => standard feature, some other even ask to make a backup)
- schedule daily turn on / off phone, bluetooth, wlan => why?
- adjust backlight to preserve device autonomy => standard feature in PocketPc
- display main and backup battery level on today plug-in (like so many others)
- display next scheduled power event on today plug-in (why?)
Maybe I'm a bit harsh, I like when people write apps for PPC but this time it isn't for me.
you can find it on our website, at http://www.mobile2wear.com/content/view/15/56/
M4io: comments noted and very much appreciated
let me try to explain:
- the application notifies you of low battery and prompts you to disable the battery consumers (backlight, phone etc.) OR you can automatically set it to auto-turn them off
- the daily schedule is intended for people using those specific functions between some hours. for example, assuming you use the phone between business hours, you can set it to automatically turn it on in the morning, and turn it off at 5pm for example. same for other functions
- the backlight is adjusted automatically. for example, you may want to have low backlight during the day and higher intensity in the evening. this is done automatically, based on your schedule
- the battery monitor is a standard feature, I agree, but we couldn't release it without it. the next scheduled event might be useful so you know what will happen to your phone, bluetooth within the near future.
nevertheless, we're interested in your ideas for improvements. we're trying to make this product look and function the way you want.
best regards,
Adrian Pasarica

Maybe a functionality that people are looking is a way of switching SIM.
A while back there was a thread with people having dual-number SIMs (cards, not the stupid game  ) who had trouble switching numbers. Automatically changing at 5pm would be a nice feature.
Didn't realise backlight adjusting was time dependant, that IS useful.
Also if you show the next event a nice feature (maybe already included)would be "Postpone 15/30/60...min". or to popup 15/30/60sec beforehand and start a countdown where you could choose to postpone.
thanks M4io.
we'll look into the dual-sim issue, indeed it's useful. the problem is that if we implement it, we don't have a dual-sim card, so we count on you guys to test it.
also the postpone/countdown will be implemented soon.

Another useful thinks can be the rings sch.
For example if i want to let the phone on all the night but i want no sound from 22.00 to 07.00... or i'll go in some meetings and i now that the meeting will be for 3 hours, i stop the phone ring bur after the meeting
i forget to turn it on.
But if i schedule the ring to stop for 3 hours, i now that after 3 hours will turn back on alone.

... zici ca se poate face ;-)
yes, that's a good idea.. but I'm not sure it fits in this power management oriented application. we'll see how we'll manage it.

I've just got a Kaiser to replace a long line of Palm Treos.
The only app I can't seem to replace at the moment is one that turns the phone off and on at selected times - so the battery lasts longer and I don't get woken before I'm ready.
Any suggestions?
look for PTRadioScheduler
you can switch on/off the radio and BT seperately (timebased)
Comm Manager Pro (shareware) allows you to turn on/off your radio, bluetooth adapter, wi-fi and other things based upon physical location & time. It's pretty sweet, although I didn't think it was useful enough to me to pay the $19 to keep it. However, you may feel different...
http://handheld.softpedia.com/get/S...munication-Manager-Pro-CommMgrPro-37327.shtml
Looks perfect... testing now
epi,
May i suggest Pocketmax PhoneAlarm.. It has this on off thing as a profile which can be scheduled by time, or by location (calendar event).. Plus, it can repeat notification, which is what it was created for.
It's profile is very powerfull, you can control almost everything, from radios to backlight to ringtone.. It also have many nice skin too...
This one is even better.. Bandswitch
http://handheld.softpedia.com/progScreenshots/BandSwitch-Screenshot-37329.html
Thanks for all the suggestions guys...
ptRadio Scheduler does what I need, seems to work nicely in the limited testing I've done, and it's also the cheapest
... so I'll stick with that until it ****s up
So as some of you may know there is an app for android called Tasker and it is by far the most powerful app out to date.
"Tasker is an application for Android which performs Tasks (sets of Actions) based on Contexts (application, time, date, location, event, gesture) in user-defined Profiles, or in clickable or timer home screen widgets.
This simple concept profoundly extends your control of your Android device and it's capabilities, without the need for 'root' or a special home screen"
As powerful and amazing as this app is, it's pretty hard to use unless your very tech savvy and I have been searching the Net for some how-to guides but their doesn't seem to be much out there. So I wanted to create this thread and have people post their own little tips/mods that they have set-up with Tasker so that newbies such as my-self can have a place to go if they need help getting Tasker to perform certain functions.
I just download the app last night and haven't had much time to mess with it yet, but once I get the hang of it I will start posting what I'm doing.
Anybody that uses Tasker please feel free to add on to the thread and lets make this the ultimate "How-to" guide for people trying to unlock the full potential of this amazing app.

@OP, one that I made that I find useful scans the SD card for new media whenever it's mounted.
PROFILE:
Event - Card Mounted (Priority: Normal, Card Title: <blank>, Frequency: 1)
Task - Media -> Scan Card
Task - Alert -> Flash (Text: Scanning for new media..., Long: <unchecked>, If: <unchecked>)
This one turns off the lockscreen when using Music or Pandora (you have to make two separate profiles!)
PROFILE:
Application - Music/Pandora
Task - Display -> Keyguard (Set: Off, If: <unchecked>)
I also spent a lot of time developing a task that would turn airplane mode on for 45 minutes, turn it off for 15 minutes, then turn it back on and repeat until stopped. Everything works except Tasker stops all timers when the phone sleeps, so unless I want to put a partial wake-lock on it (which would defeat the whole battery-saving purpose of the profile in the first place), it doesn't work

Both setups seem very useful, ima check them out. Thanks for the input!
About the one you can't get to work. I'm pretty sure I actually saw something similar to it the other day on another website, not 100% sure though. I think it was a profile that allowed you to basically turn off all of you're data and have it come back on for a short period of time to gather texts and stuff...
Ima going to look for it for you to see if i can find it...
In the mean time I found a few useful profiles here http://lifehacker.com/5606284/three-handy-tasker-profiles-from-our-readers
I would post them but theres actually quite a bit if you look in the comments and the post itself.
Once I think of something "original" i'll post it
You also might want to check the official Tasker pages. There is also a Wiki with step-throughs (link on left side of main page).

This is the only app I have been able to find that will let you remotely turn the GPS on. IMO that alone was worth the money, now I don't have to waste time writing an app for it.
I've been working on something to activate the GPS and send the phone's location, available wifi networks, etc, over a text message. Haven't figure out how to make it update the GPS location or turn on 3G yet though. Anyone know anything about android bridge scripts and if they would be able to do this?

Wow. thanks a lot for the link. i have been looking for some sort of wiki or help for tasker for a while now but apparently I wasn't looking in rite places.
Thanks again.
Also, Mobile Defense, if installed in system apps allows you to remotely turn on gps and track your phone, however, they have temporarily closed down the beta. I've always had it on my android phones and it's pretty amazing. Much better than lookout for tracking your device.

maps to start gps and gps logger
hi everyone,
i'd like to start maps, and have:
- Gps turned on
and
-an app called GpsLogger to start.
The problem i get is that, once Gps is turned on and GpsLogger is opened, if i get back to Maps by long-pressing the home button the whole automation starts again, leading me to GpsLogger again..
Could anyone help please?
Thanks!
I downloaded Tasker the other day to accomplish one thing only. I wanted my wife to be able to get through to me whenever she called me. I work shift work so my phone is set to Silent at odd times when I am resting, so the various dings and rings don't interrupt my sleep. Fearful of her not being able to get a hold of me in an emergency, I set this up:
Profile: Priority Call (named by me)
Context: Incoming Call - Very simply, I used the magnifying glass to select her contact from my phone, and it input her name in the box.
Task: Silent Mode - Mode set to OFF
This profile checks all incoming calls and then turns Silent Mode OFF and allows the call to ring through. When the call is done, the phone returns to Silent Mode. NOTE: I also had to set up a separate task to turn the phone to silent in the first place. For some reason, Tasker would not recognize the phone as being in "Silent Mode" if I used the volume down button to put it in silent mode. So I just added a shortcut to the Tasker task of putting the phone to silent on my homescreen. Now when I go to bed, I hit the shortcut and I am able to be undisturbed until I wake again, unless my wife calls. I could see this being very useful for people with teenagers that are out or babysitters with children.
This task can also be useful if you sleep at defined hours, because you can set the phone to automatically turn to silent at X hour, and turn silent mode off at X hour. Just some ideas.
I am now searching for ways to completely automate the phone by making it turn on my GPS and Bluetooth when I am away from home, as well as turn these off and turn my wifi on when I am at home. Several attempts with no knowledge of this app have been unsuccessful so far. More to follow.

Here you go...
These two pages on the Tasker Wiki will show you how to do a lot of what you want, and even find stuff you didn't know you needed.

Sorry if this has already been asked but is there a way to disable or mute notifications between certain times? Or at least email? This way the phone doesnt go off when I am asleep.
I use Sound Manager. Gives you the option to set the volume levels for media, system, notifications, etc and to set schedules for any of these. I use it to set my notification volume down low after 2:00am and to come back up to high volume around 8:00am and so far has worked just fine.
Tasker works great for this
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I897 using XDA App
Tasker probably can do that but its a ready complicated learning curve imo
Tasker rocks..definitely worth it...
I have the same thing..here is how to set it up in Tasker...
From 23:00 Til 07:00
Silent Mode On
That's it...
I also have it setup for an exception that if one of two people call me from work then it overrides and rings...
I have done a ton of stuff with Tasker -- like turning phone to vibrate during meetings, turning on gps automatically when I run certain programs (and then turn it off again when I close them), Play a sound when the plug becomes disconnected while charging, change the screen turnoff time when phone is charging, etc..
If you can't tell I love it.
Another plug for Tasker. It is awesome. The MacGyver part of my signature is brought to you in part by Tasker. And the letter A, for Awesome.
If Tasker seems hard to get into, check out their site for info: http://tasker.dinglisch.net/
A really nice use I have for it is automatically adjusting my screen brightness when plugged/unplugged.

Tasker does have a bit of a learning curve and if it's just simply turning off notifications, there are probably simpler solutions. But I love Tasker to bits. I have it set so between my usual bedtime hours, the phone goes silent, Screen Filter activates and dims it way down and Orientation turns off so I can lay down and read without it turning into landscape. I seem to always be finding new things to add and tinker.
Also recently added a function where the screen timeout goes away when Maps is activated. Got tired of losing the lock because it takes so darn long to get it back!
I use Volume Toggle - it is free (ad supported) and it has a bunch of different profiles you can customize.
It has a companion program "Volume Timer" (also free) that lets you set days and times for each profile.
I used to use Sound Manager but it decided to stop working, even after re-installing it still decided to quit after using it awhile.
I now use AudioGuru, it works great for scheduling volume settings for anything on your phone (System, Alarm, Ringer, Notifications, etc). Very easy to use and hasn't failed me yet. Recommended.
I use Silent Time Lite. It is free from the App Store and is very simple to use.
Sweet Dreams is available on the market and works great. Easy to use.
Thanks all, Tasker looks like it rocks. I will get it loaded. I like the "if bluetooth connected then read outloud the text messages", this way whenever I am in my car, it will read the tm! thats sweet.
I have an annoyance, and wondered if anyone has found a way of dealing with this?
I wear my watch overnight, and want to stop the tilt to wake screen function (as it drains battery if it's flicking on all through the night).
I understand I can schedule bedtime mode which stops this feature, but it seems to be linked to my phone, and I do not want bedtime on my phone (unless it can be on, and not greyscale?)
I can also schedule do not disturb, but this doesn't stop the tilt function!
Any suggestions?
Just add Bedtime (not sure what name used in English) button to quickpannel of the GW4 and tap it manual on GW4 or phone when you go to sleep.
Who cares if screen of the phone is in grey shades while sleeping? Just manually end Bedtime setting when you wake up...
Thanks, but that's a specific use-case that I require
I already know about how to start bedtime, and schedule it. But that doesn't help my query.
I'm looking for any of:
1. Separate bedtime from watch and phone (I don't think this is possible)
2. Turn off greyscale on the phones bedtime (I often wake and use my phone after "bedtime")
3. Another way to auto-stop/start tilt to wake that isn't bedtime
And it needs to be scheduled (I fall asleep at various times, and wouldn't remember to manually do it - and why should you have to?)
Ideally they'd add the option to do not disturb..

Actually you can choose whether or not to synchronise Bedtime between watch and phone:
In Wear app on phonen go to Settings Watch - Advanced functions - Bedtime. There you select/deselect synchronisation of Bedtime between watch and phone.

Short answer: unless your Samsung youre not going to achieve any of the things youve asked about, because bedtime mode is bedtime mode and syncs to Samsung phones (as of a Wear app update 2 updates ago now), it doesnt on non-Samsung phones so im told (i have a Samsung phone and it does)
Use bedtime mode like everyone elses does, and if you have a Samsung phone where it syncs bedtime mode need your phone full colour toggle it off when youre using it and then put bedtime mode back on when done...simples (i do it many times a week and im still here and not dead for the struggle of tapping an icon or two), and doesnt involve creating another topic....or are we that lazy as humans now? If you dont have a Samsung phone it should be a moot point in that your bedtime mode shouldnt sync and your screen shouldnt go grey...
Why do people seem to want to sweat the small stuff...we have more urgent matters to attend to as humans than bedtime mode that you can toggle with minimal effort...its such a struggle to use less than 2g of force to toggle something
Longer answer, and part generalised social commentary:
Not sure why people seem to infrequently post topics asking people if theres a way to do x, when if you cant find it in the software itself you should realise that posting the question wont result in happy times, and is a moot point....
If you cant do it, we're all using the same watch, and none of us is named Samsung ....
Posting a topic where you announce you have a singular personal edge case, and to then vomit those needs out into a topic expecting to get a positive answer in 24 hours or less is just a little annoying..part of me dies when i see these topics
Im 51, luckily i dont have that annoying "i want it now" instant spoiled millennial mindset
I got my 1st laptop at 25, after saving 2 years for it, yet i know a 9yo who just got her 2nd MacBook Pro after whining until her parents gave in...society is doomed on the expectations new humans have of it. We really should have stopped making new humans about 30 years ago....

Is one of the main points of a forum not to ask questions? I had a problem with the watch not sounding alarms unless system sounds were turned on, which I didn't want, I want all my sounds muted except alarms.
I had been through various mixes of the settings to no avail but asked the question Reddit and got a solution from someone who had a similar query.
We worked through it together to get this solution, thank goodness I didn't ask it on here as for you to see and be annoyed about!
PS - I too am 51 and thought the OP asked a valid question, I can relate to their point because I use a wake up app that doesn't work well with Bedtime mode so it would be useful to have a workaround as OP suggests.

Assume a certain amount of humour in my response....
My main point is that the watch isnt like a phone where we have an easier time trying to mod things...
Wow, what an ignorant reply! This is a forum for asking questions about certain devices.. I understand there are more important things in the world, but that doesn't mean everything else stops!! If I want info on one of the 40+ wars currently ongoing, I'll ask in a more appropriate forum.
And it appears that despite not being Samsung, this is indeed possible!
Not sure what I wrote that offended you, but please feel free to skip over any other posts of mine in future
