Media player which plays and pauses while suspended? - General Questions and Answers

I've definitely moved from my mp3 player to my ppc. For a while I tried several media players but none seems to achieve my main goal: while the device is in suspended mode be able to play music (achivable with PocketMusic and WMP) and be able to pause/resume from the headset button (which is actually mapped to the <Enter> key).
Allthough PocketMusic is supposed to achieve both goals, it just randomly does; sometimes it will, sometimes it won't (without changing the settings). I could get WMP to keep playing while in susènded mode by modifying a key in the registry, but I can't get it to pause/resume while suspended.
Is there any application you know which can achieve both goals? Or is there any way I can get PocketMusic to always do the right thing?

Need to stop password screen when music playing

I've a seemingly simple problem but its driving me crazy. All I need is to have music playing on my PPC, through a music player accessible using hardware keys. That's all (simple, right?)
Well, it turns out its not that simple. Whenever a music player (my favorite is S2P, and I hate not using it) is playing audio, after a minute the password screen becomes active and all the hardware keys become dysfunctional. The only player that's able to solve this problem is TCPMP, which doesn't let password screen come on, but though being an awesome media player, its not an ideal music player.
That being said, I need the password feature on my PPC, so I can't disable it permanently - just need it to not come on while playing music.
I've tried solving it by creating a mortscript that sends keystrokes, or resets idletime every few seconds, but that didn't help.
I'd really appreciate a solution to this problem.
Thanks in advance..

HELP ! how to make the music player keep playing even the machine goes sleep

the problem i face is same as the title, i want the music keep playing even while i press the power button.
i have tried pocketplayer, S2P, kinoma, HTC audio manager (manilla2d built-in) and they stop while i press the power button to put the machine to sleep mode.
i search in google but i can not find suitable articles for me.
is there anything i could do with my machine ? i am using hermes with manilla 2d rom, but before i flash this rom, everything just fine, but now, it makes me so annoying that i need keep press power button every few mins .
I use S2P and S2U2 and have set S2U2 to only blank the screen and not power off totally after 45 seconds (you can just change this to the time you want). That way I can just let the display time out and the music keeps playing. I think you can use any music player along with S2U2 this way and keep the music playing with the display off.
Pocket Player works for me
I use pocket player, and that function works fine for me. Just make sure to change the sttings : menu>more>options>advanced>power options
The only problem I have had is with the newest version. The music keeps playing when I use the power button, but I can't control playback functions like I could in version 3.6
I wouldn't recommend any other player. I use pocket player on a daily basis for my work. I do floor contracting/installation. I listen all day through bluetooth headset(function supported by pocket player without adding any other programs like BT toggle). Also has EQ and a lot of plugins(support winmedia plugins as well).
Might sound like a salesman, but I've tried them all and pocket player is the best. I hope somebody figures a way to make HTC home support
Try buying a new phone, something like a smartphone that can play music while the phone is asleep.

Music volume control issues with PocketPlayer

Hello mates
It's been a while I have been working to fix these issues with HTC HD2's new headset:
- The Next Track/Last Track buttons on the headset do not work with Pocket Player
- When the screen is off (the phone is in your pocket and you are listening to music with Pocket Player), the volume rocker buttons on the phone itself do not work. (You have to take the phone out of your pocket and turn on the screen, unlock the silder and then turn the volume up or down)
If anyone could help with this issue, that would be great!
Hi any luck on this? Were you able to assign buttons for functions?
I am considering buying HD2 and use Pocket Player everyday. Thanks.
I think that Audio/Video Remote Control Profile (AVRCP)‎ is given by default to HTC Sense's Music Player because whenever you press any command on handset/carstereo is switches to that Music Plater ignoring your already active PocketPlayer
I've given up on trying to find solution to it and also contacting HTC because of their ignorant customer service
Weird. Never had that. But I also never used HTC Music Player.
I believe I have a solution for this (with the compromise of getting rid of HTC Sense). If anyone is interested, pls let me know.
Same issue here.
I can not control Pocket Player with my headset controls.
If someone can make this happen there is 20 dlls from me on it (double of what I paid for the player itself).
Thanks for your support and I hope there is a solution for this.
Regards
Use a ROM without HTC Sense / Install PP / In Options, plugins, "update now" / tap WM plugin then tap "configure" / check the "Intercept WMP", then all all items from "Load WMP Plugins" like "HTC WMP" and tick all boxes below, checking "next/back=Rewind/FF" and "play/pause"

Something to work without changing ROMs?
I would like to keep my phone as it is with manufacturer ROM (Sense included) and have the wired controls work with Pocket Player.
The plan is to make a AUX cable with the controls and install it on my car, then I can just change songs without any distracting from the road.
thanks

PocketMusic doesn't switch songs with HeadSet

Hello,
I installed PocketMusic Player on my HTC Leo.
I got problem, this player won't accept standard HTC Handsfree's " Next Song / Previous Song, Accept / Cancel call" buttons.
When I press "Next Song" or "Previous song" it causes built-in WMP to change songs.
Anyone have solved this problem?
I have told this like thousand times. The only player that works with the Headset's button is Pocket Player (after you have installed the WMP plugin). So, there is only on solution for that. Either you use WMP or Pocket Player (with the WMP plugin)

Could you show guide or link on how to install this plug-in? Will it work on Windows Mobile 6.5 ?
Yeah, of course it does. When you have installed Pocket Player and when you are in it, you go to Menu (softkey on the right)-> More-> Options-> (you scroll to the right) Plugins-> (here you have to have a internet connection), there you choose "update now". Then it asks if you want to install the WMP plugin. You say "yes". When it's done, "Conduits WM Adapter" appears in the Plugins list. You choose that and choose configure. Then there is some options you have to check. You check "load WMP plugins" and under it "HTC WMP Control Plug-in" and under it "Play/Pause" and "Back/Next". All of these must be checked (you have to use the Keyboard and the Enter button to check those. Just tapping on them won't check). You tap on OK and restart Pocket Player. When you are back, the headset works perfectly.
By the way, if you have the "slide to Unlcok" enabled, when the screen is off, the headset buttons won't work. So you have to disable the Slide to Unlock thingy.
Good luck..

I've contacted PocketMusic Player developer and received this answer:
Hello,
Thank you for your feedback!
The problem is known to us. It exists on both HTC Touch Diamond and HTC HD2 because HTC did tight integration between AVRCP bluetooth driver and their Touch Flo3D music player. The driver forcefully starts the TF3D player each time any command is received from bluetooth headset. And the control events are sent directly to their player.
We have invested a lot of effort trying to develop some workaround for that issue, but did not find any really usable solution yet. We will continue our tries, but due to the closed nature of HTC's software we can't be sure if it is possible at all.

Best regards,
PocketMind Support Team
That is very bad...
HTC Sense should be as open as Android!
Then developer will be able integrate their own programs.
Otherwise HTC HD2 built-in software - is a useless crap.
They should release some kind of API for this HTC Sense (TouchFlo)

Thanks for the tip, I'll definitely try it, but again I need to accept some restrictions (like slide & unlock button as you mentioned), and I really hate restrictions

Oh so that what it was, thanks for the tip ! It does work now although holding the next or prev handset key won't forward or rewind in the song as it does with the built in player.
Yeah, I know. But Pocket Player is going to update the plugin in a week or so. The update will fix that problem. But still Pocket Player is the only player that works with the headset (besides the Manila Player). By the way, if you want the screen to stay off when you adjust the volume with volume buttons on the device, put Pocket Player in background. That way the screen stays off when you adjust the volume or push play/pause or last/next buttons on the headset.
I played a lot with that freaking thing to figure that out, you know

Very strange... I followed your manual and NEXT/BACK buttons don't work
But "Play/Stop" button works great...
What might be incorrect ? My Pocket Player version is 4.0
Should I also Check "Intercept/Override WMP" and "Windows Media Player Mobile A2DP Plugin", or only "HTC WMP Control Plug-in" ?
Anyway... doesn't work.. I tried even PocketPlayer 4.1, there was WMP plugin adapter already. Configured it like you said... and from my Handsfree works only middle button (play/pause/call)
By the way, when you are inside the plugin and configuring it, you have to check "Close WMP before loading" and "Intercept/override WMP" as well. Try that...
One more thing. Pocket Player can be very very stubborn. Remember, when you change the options in Advanced tab, they won't do whatever they say they'll do. So do not change the options in the Advanced tap. If the handset still won't work, uninstall Pocket Player and delete all of its registry. (use resco registry explorer and search for Pocket only. When it finds the registries, make sure that the found registry is a registry of Pocket Player and nothing else). After you have deleted the registry, install the program again. And ONLY do what I have described above and nothing more.
I have done these things like 1000000 times. So trust me in this one.
Of course you have to check "HTC Control Plug-in". Didn't I say that? Without that it won't work

Thanks for explaining hints to me... However I already don't find this as a good idea. With "Sound Booster" enabled in WMP I don't see difference in sound quality between WMP and Pocket Player. I'll probably wait when there will be more simple solution, without messing into registry and drivers. [
I'm interested in such thing: is there a way to create a plugin/driver that will support any external media player ? If yes, I might be interested in writing it.
It really makes a difference when both of the equalizers combine (I mean equalizers of Pocket Player and Boost Manager. No WMP here at all.) It makes the sound clearer with more bass. Anyway, you don't need to mess with your registry. It's just deleting the registry tracks of Pocket Player. No messing with it or messing with any drivers.
Anyhow, what I described is for getting the headset buttons to work. And Sound Booster doesn't have anything to do with WMP. The WMP-plugin makes Pocket Player to pretend like it's WMP so the headset buttons work. As simple as that. No hocus pocus
I don't know much about that kind of driver so ...

Sonos issues on Android

I’m having a couple of consistent, frustrating issues with the app on my phone. I have the current version of the app and it’s up to date but both of these issues have existed for me for some time across multiple updates.
Firstly, there seems to be a consistent playback problem when playing from my own device as opposed to a streaming service. I’ll select a song from a playlist and it’ll normally play fine but then 90% of the time at the end of the song, it will encounter an error as opposed to playing the next song. It will then either stop for some reason keep working down the playlist but skip multiple songs with an error message before finally playing one much further down the playlist after a long pause.
Secondly, regardless of whichever music service I am playing from, Sonos will quite often just disappear from my notification bar and I won’t be able to control volume without going into the app. So usually when starting to play something, Sonos will be in my notification bar or lock screen and if I press the volume key, I’ll be able to adjust the Sonos group volume without going back into the app. Frequently though, the notification banner will just disappear (even though the song/podcasts are still playing) and when I click on the volume, Sonos will not be an option to adjust.
Both of these issues have occurred for me across different Android devices. Any suggestions for how to fix them?
