music tab library - Touch Pro, Fuze General

Is there a modification to music player on the touchflo to allow you to find music easier? I have all my music on my sd card and it does find my music no problem but I am so used to finding my music through the card itself and not by the player. So when I want a specific song I have to scroll very carefully for a long long time. Is there a way to make a tab in the music library that goes straight to like file explorer or something like that? Or at least a search on the side like how it is with your contacts tab where it shows the letters in the alphabet?

I don't know a programmed solution for you but if you use the right album and artists IDs then it shouldnt be that hard to find the songs.
Then u can create playlists with the tracks u like and then u can play the playlist as default if u set up everything the right way.

I've got rather a problem in being unable to play any music with the built in tab player since I added the last 3GB of my favourice music (just the best ).
The player won't move an inch, so I had to use a different player (now Core) but I also would like to use the bulit in stuff - any suggestions ?

Media Player Library?

Hi everyone, I'm not sure if this is the best forum to post this, but here goes.
I use Windows media Player on my WM6 phone, well Duttys 6.1 actually, but i don't think that will change anything.
I know its not generally the preferred player, but I like it. Anyway, my question, is there a way to tell it to ONLY scan a specific folder to add media to the library, or does it have to always scan then entire memory card.
The thing is, I use my TyTN II as my portable MP3 player, so I have alot of music stored on my memory card, but I also have newsbreak download all my pod casts to my memory card too, and media player adds these podcasts to the library too.
So is there a way I can tell it to just scan my Music folder so these other audio files don't get mixed in with my music library.
Thanks to anyone who can help.
ps. if your solution is 'use a different player' please don't bother.
thanks...
Has nobody any idea's.
Even a 'No, give it up' would be better than nothing.
I will like to know too also a way to keep my radio streams easy to play
Bump, this is actually a good one. It's such a hassle when you add one or two songs or videos and then have to tell WMP to update and watch it re-read and re-add 500 files. I have a 4GB micro and that can take awhile!
Please, somebody, anybody.....
Make playlists that is what I do. I have oodles of audio books on my memory card and to avoid them get scrambled in when I shuffle I just load a playlist.
As for the using a 2nd media player I do that also when I don't want to load navigate to find the playlist and change settings from shuffle to consecutive playback. I just use HTC Home with HTC Audio manager for in a hurry playback of music. Hope this helps.
Edit: Just wanted to add I decided to play with WMP a little more after posting and fund that If you use the ID3v1/ID3v2 tags and sort that way it is really useful too. But to simplify a solution again I recommend a playlist. You can create and edit you playlists right on the phone. If your tags are accurate you can make a proper playlist in no time.
Playlists are the things I really wanted to avoid, I add and remove songs and albums pretty much everyday and having to recreate the playlist everytime seems silly.
Thanks for the contribution though.

Music Tab TF3D

I am running the new Lantis OS rom and i don't know if it has to do with the rom or something else.. I used windows media play to sync music to my phone, the music is there but when i go to the music tab on touchflo it only displays one song, but i can click library and select a different song, but it doesn't allow me to flip through them like it should. Can someone help me on this one please?
Try to update your library first?
In windows media player? Sorry, i don't use music on my phone that often but i would like to start.
Steven,
This happened to me last week too where the album art in TF3D will just show only 1 image for all the songs and sometimes you get the feeling that your music is not being changed once a song is finished. What i did was to make a folder inside a music folder for each album and then put album art in all the folders and name it as folder.jpg and after that my music tab is working fine and without any problems.
Thanks for the reply i will have to try that. There is one thing though when i used windows media player on my desktop computer to sync music it put all the albums in separate folders in a music folder on my storage card.

Playing order in audiomanager ???

Hi all,
i've been trying to search for a solution but was so far unable to find one.
I'm running into the following (albeit minor) problem.
When I copy my music to the HD2 and let the Manila audio manager sort everything out, then the order of the individual tracks in the albums are all off, i can't find any kind of order in there, they are not ordered alphabetically or anything, and worst of all they are definitely not ordered according the album's play order as i would prefer them to be.
All the music I put on the card consist of complete albums i also use in iTunes, where they are all sorted as they should be, so they are also tagged as they should be.
Now, i know that both iTunes as well as audio manager use gracenote to get the info and album-art for the albums, but why does iTunes do the trick correctly and audio manager does not?
What do i need to change in the files to get it right?
I also find that, although album art is in the folder after "syncing" with gracenote, some albums just won't show the album-art?
Where do I go wrong? I simply don't like the thought of having to create playlists for all 12 or so gig's of music i have put on the HD2 to get them to play in the "correct" order as i would like to have it.
Thanks in advance . . . . . . . . . . .
Gert-Jan (Crazy-G) Klijn.
I use Mediamonkey to embed the album art in the mp3 tags. Works flawlessly and the Audio manager recognizes everything without problems.
Also have the lacking sort order issue which really sucks since I predominantly play audiobooks and going out of sequence there is a killer. Right now I'm using Mortplayer as it has the cool feature of having two main folders, one for Music and one for Audiobooks. But it would be much nicer in the sense audiomanager, since it looks better.
This has been an HTC bug for years, but only affects WMA files normally. MP3s should be okay.

stock music player wont play in background

I have read on other forums where users report that their built-in default music player stops as soon as they switch away from the screen and others say the have no issue. So I guess this is a mysterious bug. It's driving me nuts. Any ideas in trouble shooting this?
no help here
Sorry mine won't turn off no matter what buttons I push. Matter of fact I can't figure out how to truly turn it off, all I get is pause. Without advanced task killer it just sits in the drop down menu, waiting.
I do have the other bug with it though, I can't sort by artist with a lot of music on there. 25gigs, hit artist and it crashes and says not enough memory. There is more than a gig free on both the internal and the external cards. Bummer.
As of today it now plays in the background. If I can figure out a rhyme or reason as to why it wouldn't before I'll report back.

Mine always played in the background. You must be confuse with stock video player which can't play in the background for obvious reasons.

Nope, no confusion. When the program "Music Player" is launched a task manager shows that it is running but if the companion program, (whos name I cant remember) is not also running then the music will not play in the background. The companion program is launched by Music Player when an audio file is started. It has a similar name to Music Player. I believe it is named Sound Player and it has the same icon as Music Player.
If you start a playlist or album or whatever in the stock player and hit the home key it will show the music player now playin in the notification bar (where you can pause or skip songs. If you go back into the program and use the back button all the way out the program closes.

Ok, now I know how you get confused. Sound Player and Music Player are two different apps. No, Music Player does not require Sound Player in memory. Sound Player can't play in background while Music Player can.
The only way to launch Sound Player is to use My Files File Explorer and open mp3 or other sound files directly. On the other hand, Music Player can only be launched from app launcher and it offers following additional features:
1. Support albums and playlists.
2. Support 5.1ch playback on headphones
3. Support playback on the background.

That was some odd notations I made while I had a task manager installed last week. I just tried what you said and you are 100% exactly right! Phweeeh thats a relief. I was worried it would go back to not working later. Thanks for the insight.

My music player shuts off when I launch the camera app. Gingerbread I think you found a legitimate bug.
Does anyone have a replacement for sound player (not music player) that can run in the background? I'm sick of having streaming podcasts end when I need to do something else with my phone.

I think that people who have very large music collections will find that the player shuts off when they go into certain applications. My feeling is that this is Android's internal memory manager subroutine figuring that the audio player is eating up way too much memory, most likely due to the database being loaded the entire time the player is running, and deciding to close that one program rather than ten others to free up the same amount of space. How much memory does your player eat up while running?
The Sound Player is opening instead of the Music Player
On my Vibrant, a .mpga file used to open using the Music Player but now the Sound Player is opening instead. My phone is completely stock, never rooted and no aps downloaded, but I can tell which player is opening: after the player opens, I close it and then press and hold the home key to see which program just opened by noting the first program name in the list of the 6. (The two player's interfaces look almost identical so it is easy to think that the Music Player is opening when the Sound Player is the one actually opening.)
Some possible clues to the cause: I had just used the sound recorder for the first time. It creates .amr files. The .amr files showed up in the Music Player's playlist, but the file wouldn't play; so I browsed directly to the file using Files, clicked on the .amr file and the Sound Player opened the file. But now the Sound Player its opening .mpga files instead of the Music Player and my Music Player's playlist is now empty. (At least that is what I think the sequence of events were.)
I imagine that resetting the phone to factory default would fix it, but I'll have to learn how to backup my address book, web favorites, and goggle map starred items.)
I posted here because I believe I have detected accurately what is happening (maybe not the cause, but the fact that the wrong player is opening), and you experts might be able to suggest a workaround or get the bug fixed.

The mp3 must be in the music folder on the sdcard in order for music player to play in the background.
Not true. I've had music in other folders that got pulled into my music library.
Sent from my Samsung Captivate.

Try force a media scan to see if it fixes your Music Player playlist problem.

Edit or create Android music playlists?

So I am using an HTC Evo running Android 2.2 with HTC Sense.
I am trying to set up some playlists in the stock music player.
Creating the playlists in the music player is pretty straight forward. The problem is some of the song titles are too long to read on the screen. It doesn't have a landscape mode either, so that doesn't help.
I have friends who are musicians, and I have a lot of their music on my phone. They will give me, for example, a 4 disk set with 20 songs per disk and each song will be named SquishFunkJamsWinter2010Song5Disk2.
If I put the whole folder for each disk in a playlist, it defaults to putting song 10 before song 1, and the order is all weird. And when I try to change the order of the playlist, I can't read the end of the name because it's too long.
Does anyone know of a good app that will let me create or edit playlists and will work in landscape, or at least let me scroll over to read the end of the longer file names?
Also, does anyone know where the stock HTC music player stores the playlists that it creates?
I am looking for a way to do this on the phone, not a computer...
