I want this and here's what I want it to do:
I want it to display the appropriate notification icons moving around like the stock clock app does while docked.
It would be awesome if it hooked into TrackBall Alerts Pro since he figured out all the sytem hooks for various notifications.
RGB support for the various notifications
I will pay good money for this. Seriously. You want 20 bucks? Make it do what I want and it's yours. This dude's idea is awesome and it would look ****ing sweet while my phone is docked. I've linked the dev OP to this thread.

Sarcasm? Put it on the Market and charge 5 bucks for it for all I care. It would look fantastic with our OMLED screens.
Also, the displaying hardware needs to be on (consuming battery). Also, processor needs to be active (consuming battery). Short story, a lot of stuff consuming battery.
If you dont' believe me, try going to the trackball notifications in succession thread. The solution there just needs to keep the processor awake to change colors to the trackball. And look at people complaining how it wastes way too much battery.
A nice idea, but a serious battery hog.

Plug it into Clock.apk so it runs automatically when in a dock and you can pull up the Clock screensaver if you want it some other time.
Basically, I want to pop into a dock and have it show my Gmail icon when I have gmail, SMS when I have SMS, etc etc. Trackball notifications do it somewhat, but get a floating badge so I can see "Oh, 7 gmail messages" or whatever. GMail notification lights don't really show when I've got more than one very easily.
A good chunk of the code is already there (hook into the clock's screensaver, use TBA's framework for the notifications and I believe ADW has badges for gmail/sms, right?), it'd be mostly tying it all together.

NoLED works as-is on the nexus.
For the past two days, I've had to charge my Captivate overnight after 9 to 10 hours of moderate use. Now today, the third day, it's been 13 hours of moderate use and I still have 15% battery life remaining! The Captivate is rooted and lag fixed using z4root and RyanZa OCLF. I also installed some apps, but nothing that's related to battery saving besides RyanZa's OCLF where I can reduce the WiFi timeout from 15 minutes to whenever I want.
Here are today's results:
Does these results look normal to you? I'm particularly concerned about the Social Hub and screen, and running. They're all higher than I expected. The brightness of the screen is set pretty low, maybe 2/10 of the brightness bar. As for Social Hub, well all I got is the Facebook widget, which is set to sync every 4 hours. Other kinds of syncing is off. GPS is off too.
I ended up charging the phone at 5% battery left. I had to sleep!
Also can someone please answer my quoted post?
I sent a text message saying "hi. XXX" to 4 friends, I pressed back and the text didn't fall into any of the Conversations that I had imported from my W715. Instead, it had created it's own, new conversation and it was marked "Drafts". The text messages were sent out though. I guess the only way to do this is to send em one by one so they'll fall into the correct conversations?
I want to rearrange the Applications menu so that it auto arranges itself, while keeping apps on say page 3 while the required stuff such as Media Player, Video Player, etc. on pages 1 and 2. Is this possible? As well, I want to remove the Rogers apps. Can anyone guide me please?
Can anyone recommend a screen protector and case? I was planning to use some ebay goods, but I also found some pretty expensive stuff. I'm going to assume it's a pay for what you get kinda thing?

Edit: What tools should I get? I hear a lot about ODIN, rommanager, etc. I also need to find a way to get into download and recovery mode as I can't seem to access it for some reason. Either I'm doing it wrong or the feature is disabled...
Anyone please
Menu-settings-wireless and network-wifi settings-menu-advanced-wifi sleep policy-never. You should get almost twice the battery life.

That never turns off the WiFi when it's on, draining the battery...
Trust me it works. When you leave it the way it is the wifi sleeps when you lock the phone and 3g takes over (look at your status bar when you wake your phone), the 3g will be active and in a few seconds the wifi will come back on. If you look at your battery stats in the screens you posted the running and screen on should only be a couple percent apart. Mine are 26.5% and 19.3%.
Try it for a day and see if there is any difference.

I'll consider that then. Thanks =)
Here's my updated battery performance for today. Phone's been on for 24 hours and I still have 18% battery life left. Social Hub was turned off. I guess it's time I recalibrate my battery? But the battery status shows 100% when I unplug the phone from the charger. Well I charged while the phone was turned off...
Can someone help me with my other questions please as well? I'm trying to learn how to use Android and my Captivate, but it's quite hard when there's so many threads around and no one can answer my questions when I learn something or encounter a problem. Thanks.
Have you tried turning the phone off once it says 100%? Mine charges for another 20 minutes or so and then says 100% on the big battery bar.
After doing that a couple times it seems to be charging fully while on now too.
Sent from my GT-P1000R using XDA App
Yep. Check this out. I'm not concerned about the battery anymore. I'm more concerned about my other questions now.
Is there a permanent way to raise the ringtone volumes? I find that the ringtones are notoriously soft compared to my Sony Ericsson W715, even with stock drivers! I'm missing like half my calls and texts because I can't hear it or feel the vibration.
For both my Galaxy S Captivate and my sister's Samsung Wave (yes does not belong here), we find that the lowest headset volume is still too loud when we are listening to music. Is there a way to change that too? Volume level 1 on our phones is like volume level 4 on my W715 and volume level 10 on her Sony MP3.

I am not flaming you but I am trying to understand how it is you missed all of these threads on the topics your questioning, you say your reading but apparently not enough searching. This is why people get pissed, we can find the answers for you but you need to look a little harder. There are hundreds of threads with answers to most questions but noobs always want help but don't really spend the time to look for the answers. Stop whining that no one is answering your questions and look harder so you don't get flamed.
I already got all that answered, so I appreciate that you posted in here. If you scrolled to my last post in this thread, you'll see there was a new question. Maybe I should edit my posts before reusing my threads....

I saw that one about raising the volume, I don't know if anyone has figured that one out. There is a thread about it somewhere on here, I think I read in it that there is a way, it sounded difficult. I tried to find the thread it was a month or so ago.
I found this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=7435705&postcount=1
and I searched the forum for call volume and found this http://forum.xda-developers.com/search.php?searchid=50947804
I hope the second link works for you it is the search result, lot's of threads about volume. Good Luck.
Yep I've seen the first link before. That's the temporary method. Only permanent method I found is to purchase AudioBoost2 from the Marketplace.
2nd link doesn't work, but I'll continue to search here and on different forums.
I'm thinking that no one figured out my "sending one text to multiple users" problem either, since I got no replies to it.
Is it possible to record videos in MP4? I searched around and it seems MP4 is only available on Froyo.
Edit: Found a PS3 thread on how it couldn't play a SGS video recorded in MP4. Turns out it's still using the 3GP, and there doesn't seem to be a hack either >.>
My phone constantly runs out of battery when i need it the most.
I have an anycan portable power pack thing allready and its good, however i dont always remember to take it with me.
So im looking for a 2nd one and came across this little thing
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/EXTERNAL-...303?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item336667368f
Has anyone here purchased one? if so how much of a charge does it give your phone?
Or could anyone give me links to anything similar to the powermonkey for about half the price? and preferably in the UK as im going away in a weeks time.
Thanks
just seen this, sounds good for the money, another listing for the same looking items shows same figures as the power monkey?

This one works very well, much better than that one, i bought it for 20 euro's in a local electronic store, charges it 2,5-3 times from 15-100
Thanks for that. Does it hold enough power to give the desire 1 full charge or more ? ?
And can you plug in your own usb cables or does it have a different connector?
Cheers
I re-read your post last night(2am) and orderd the advanced pack for £19.99.
good price, free post and the item sounds decent!
I should hopefully have it by wednesday/thursday so just in time for me to go away on sunday.
I think you'll already know, you can put any usb(cable) in it, only if you charge the thing itself it uses MINI-usb(not micro like desire) so don't lose that cable and use the one you got.
PS: i don't use the torch but it is a very good one, provides a lot of light.
Yes i read up on it, expansys have posted it out allready so should be with me in time for my trip
I got the advanced kit aswell so im happy about that.
And i have plenty of torches so cant see myself using that much either tbh.
Thanks again for pointing me in the right direction!
BIG praise to exansys as i orderd it around 2am yesterday morning and it was waiting for me when i got home from work today.
I will be plugging it in very soon for its 1st 8hr charge as it has no charge at all right now.
I have 1 question for you though TopGear63z, the smaller pouch, is it supposed to be a single compartment pouch or has the lining come away from one side of mine?
Thanks
as you have an advanced kit> you should have such a pouch without it.. the big one is for the thing itself+ the cable> the small one is just for the car charger or on of the other things> so it doesn't need that lining as the big one has.
Im fussy so i will try and get it changed lol
So i gave the thing a full 8 or 9 hours first charge and used it to charge my phone whilst at work today.
Fully charged my phone, choiix unit down to 2leds from 4.
Im really pleased with it and highly recommend it to everyone!!

Thanks, this one is good to me.
First off, I want to thank everyone who has posted about rooting, removing bloat and overclocking, my poor old OG droid is now twice as fast as stock and the tweaks were as easy as eating Skittles on the couch. Oh, and I loved the newb video, and after reading this site for a while I think it may not be harsh enough.
Anyway, I have had an idea for an app that I have searched extensively for, and have not come up with anything even close. I'm no coder, barely understand the concept, so I submit this idea to the community in hopes that if you like it, someone will write it, and it will be good. All I ask in return is that I don't have to pay for it later, if it goes viral.
Recently the driving laws of my home state and many others have changed, and the exact wordings differ greatly. In Nevada, the wording is such that I can answer my phone and talk on speakerphone, as long as I can do so in one button push. And before you say the word "blue-tooth" leme remind you how much battery power that takes, realize I use this thing constantly for business and can't afford a new device or devices. Plus, I only have one power outlet, and would have to charge my mp3 player (much more song storage than my phone, and no interruption from calls or lack of service out in the boonies) my phone and then a blue tooth headset. Talk about a distraction while driving!
Now, on to the idea in question. When the phone is in sleep mode and the phone rings, I would have to unlock the screen, answer the call, and push 'speakerphone', and this(according to the letter of the law) is illegal while driving in the great state of Nevada. After reading this I got to thinking (and that can sometimes lead to dangerous actions, so after putting my special thinking helmet on...) this is what I came up with.
The camera button doesn't have a function while the screen is off, at least not that I have found on my phone. Also, when receiving a call, the camera button does nothing. In fact it doesn't do anything on my phone unless I'm on the home screen.(and I changed that auto-run feature of the camera so I wasn't taking 15 pics a day by accident, now it only works when I'm IN camera) So, my thought is to tie the camera button in with answering a call directly into speakerphone, without unlocking the screen and pressing 2 buttons. This makes answering my phone while driving legal, and much, much safer. Instead of 3 actions, now I have only one, taking a third less of my focus off the road. Plus, I don't have to look around for a cop before answering an important call, or pull over to the side of a busy highway to avoid a ticket.
This seems like a no-brainer to me, I just don't know the first thing about coding or writing apps, other than I don't know jack about coding or writing apps! Wish I did, as I think this could be a very helpful app if done correctly. I'm a gear-head, so If you wana talk cars we could talk all day, but I only know smartphones by what I have read in the last few months. Granted, I am VERY interested... (See: Staying up all hours of the night reading about the subject and writing posts! LOL)
Leme know what ya'll think. I can take criticism, even insults, just don't call me stupid. I'm always coming up with hair-brained schemes, and every once in a while, this blind squirrel does find a good nut or two.

I'm rather near sighted so unless I duct tape the alarm clock to my head I have no chance in hell to actually see the numbers displayed on it at night without contacts or glasses. I've been looking around for app that does one simple thing: tell me the time when i say "time" (or something similar).
My search so far has come up mostly short. I found an app that tells me the time when I shake, touch, or wave my hand over the device. There are also half a million bad Siri knockoffs that will tell me the time if I push a button. However what I really want is an app that monitors audio the entire night and doesn't need to be prodded in any way to notice me speaking to it.
There has to be something out there that can do this. I mean, the built in voice thing responds to "hi galaxy" which could in theory work if it would just understand when I ask it for the time. There are also sleep recorders and such apps that obviously don't mind monitoring audio all night long, as long as you plug it in so power isn't an issue.
Does anyone have any ideas for such an app?
EDIT: If I'm to be very feature-greedy I also wouldn't mind if it turned on the LED when I say "lights" or something like that, but I imagine that's more than just a little bit unlikly to exist
EDIT2: Forgot I was in a general part of the forum, so just to be clear, will be using this on a galaxy s ii or galaxy tab 7.0 plus
The device doesn't really matter, such app should run on any device.
I like the idea!
I will give it a shot after my exam on thursday, but no promises , already have some cool ideas .
You should be aware that this is not battery efficient at all and if your phone is not connected to a charger it might run empty during the night.

Of course, as I said that's what sleep talk monitors require too.
I did actually find something...on my iPad. There are a couple of apps like that on iOS. I ended up with one where you simply clap to hear the time. Hasn't been updated in ages but still works. There's another one that you actually say "time" to but I think you need to say its name to wake it up first, so didn't even try that one.
Would definitely prefer to have it on Android though, so would be awesome f you got something working
EDIT: decided to buy the other app for iOS just to make a video as a reference:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uXgS0aW10v8
Seems that development simply stopped on that one. Not been updated in ages. Having to say "hello kei" every time is indeed annoying
Spent my first night with the clap activated clock on the iPad. Wow, this truly makes a world of difference to someone like me who's practically blind without glasses or contacts. Ended up waking up a few times during the night, especially close to the time to get up, so being able to get the time without fumbling around for glasses and actually waking up in the process literally made it easier to sleep too
