Moodio Streaming Radio - General Topics

I stumbled across this site recent (moodio.fm), but can't get it working on my HTC touch. I downloaded HTC Streaming Media player, which can stream m.youtube videos, but can't seem to open moodio.fm radio stations. Anyone else come across this?
I'm on the Bell network btw, maybe Bell blocks certain ports?
Any help is appreciated.

I have an HTC Fuze and would also like an answer to this question. The streaming medial player won't seem to open Moodio links. Moodio is a great site with tons of great stations. Anyone have a fix to opening these links?

some times use mediaplayer streaming or realplayer or quicktime so being able to play youtube matters little in those cases
I would mess around with different browsers to see both on the computer and the pda

The Moodio site says the link should open with the streaming media application, and when you click the link it does bring up the streaming media player, but it does not load and gives a message that "media file type not supported".

anyone figure this out yet? I recall it working with some othe streaming app on the diamond, but since I've reflashed the ROM I lost the app.

Hello. I've been searching for a solution to this for quite some time and finally found a way to stream Moodio, from a totally unrelated thread here on XDA-Developers. It's a bit complicated, mind you, but so far it's worked for me every time both over WiFi and HSDPA on my Xperia X1.
Try the following:
1. Go to m.moodio.fm and log in.
2. Click on a station you wish to play. At this point, the HTC Streaming Player will launch and you will receive the "unsupported media type" error. You will also now have a file downloaded by Moodio in your My Documents folder called Listen.sdp.
3. Rename the .sdp file to .txt (either on the PC or with something like Resco Explorer so that it can be opened in Word Mobile. Alternatively you can install the HouMing File Explorer extension, select the Open With Program option, and open the file with Word Mobile, so as not to have to rename the file.
4. Look for the entry that begins with the string 'a=control:' and contains the 'rtsp://'. Example: 'a=control:rtsp://moodio-3.seeas.nl/3938994'.
5. Ignore the 'a=control:' and copy the part of the string that begins with 'rtsp//'. Example: 'rtsp://moodio-3.seeas.nl/3938994'.
6. Open your media player (in my case, the HTC Streaming Media player), and paste this text in the URL field. The station should then play as expected. (Note that you can also play the station by pasting this text into the address bar of your browser like Pocket IE, which will then automatically launch the Streaming Media Player and play it. At this point I save the file to Favorites in the HTC Streaming Media Player so I can play it any time I wish.
I thought I would post this since I have searched and searched and have not seen anyone mention this alternative with respect to Moodio.
Hope this helps those of you who, like me, have had no luck in streaming Moodio on your Windows Mobile device up to now.

Hi,
I'm the developer behind moodio.fm. I used an Xperia X1 myself for sometime last year and i'm very sure Moodio played on it without the need for this trick.
Have you tried different browsers? As far as i remember it only worked in IE.
If you provide me with your Moodio user name i can check the exact user agent string the phone sends and add an exception in our system to redirect these phones to the direct rtsp url instead of returning an SDP file.
regards
Oele

Hello Oele. Wow, that would be fantastic! I can tell you that I joined Moodio some time back (I believe perhaps June or July of last year), and I have always received the .sdp file on my Xperia X1A since day one. I tried to find a solution back then and couldn't, so gave up for a while and didn't use Moodio. I recently decided to search once more to see if I could find something and this is when I came across the workaround described in my prior post. But if you can make it so that my device is automatically redirected to the rtsp URL, that would be wonderful. I have only tried this with IE, BTW, as that is the only browser I use. My Moodio username is queenv. If you need any additional information, please let me know. Thanks again!

Could you try again? You should now get a redirect to the RTSP url.

Yes! I just tried it and I certainly do! Now it just plays and I no longer have to do my workaround. Thanks a million!!!!

thanx in advance, oo and i did read lots of posts but none helped me
Don't crosspost. You posted the same question on three boards.

iPhone gets iheartradio for Clear Channel radio. What can WM users do?

Long time WM user that can appreciate the iPhone and iPod Touch ability to listen to ClearChannel radio stations "online". But I don't understand why Windows Mobile is being left out.
If we can watch YouTube videos, certainly we have the horsepower for radio. Does anyone else have this problem? Better yet, have a solution that works? Would love to get my local Sports Radio station on my Touch Cruise, but not even Skyfire works for me.
Well, still no luck. I found a website that tracks radio stations around the US and even internationally, but there is no link to Sports Radio 950 KJR (www.kjram.com) and I can't find a link anywhere else but their own home page, which won't work with Opera or Skyfire.
Currently running one of c_s rom's, which doesn't come with IE. Thought maybe adding IE 6.1 would help, but haven't found a link yet. Anyone know how I can add that to an existing rom?
Off to do more searching, but pretty soon I suppose I should just break down and buy an iPod Touch.
from your Touch Cruise:
www.theStreamCenter.com/pda/
Works in pIE, Opera 8.65 and Opera Mini. Not sure if it needs pIE to actually open the radio station's link though, since it's built into the ROM on my Polaris.
I searched for your station 950 kjr and found it if it's located in Seattle (did not find it when I searched kjr 950 - go figure). However, never got it to connect. Immediately tried a ClearChannel station I listen to and it connected perfectly. Don't know if 950 kjr link is bad or if the station was not broadcasting. Perhaps, it was a blackout due to a game or something like that? Give it a try and see if you have better luck.
ps...
Tried to stream the station on my laptop via the kjram.com website (NOT through streamcenter.com) and it did not work either. Looks like maybe they are having problems at the moment and hopefully it'll work when you try.
Good luck!
Still looking for pIE I can add to my current WM6 rom. The author didn't include pIE as part of the "image". I also tried your link, and in Opera I couldn't find any part of the KJR AM page I could "click" on. So I'm wondering what I'm doing wrong if not just using the wrong browser.
Not having ANY luck and not sure what else to try.
Wunder radio was supposed to come out on January 15th. It supposedly has 50,000 radio stations. I'm hoping clear channel will be part of that.
I can stream clear channel stations through IE on my PC but PIE says it can't do it. Opera Mobile gets close but won't actually play the music.
I can stream some stations that aren't clear channel using Opera, and I can stream NPR after downloading the .asx link and selecting it with TCPMP.
Can't help with how to get pIE on your phone since you are using a ROM without it. All I can tell you is I stream Clear Channel stations (all others too) by going to:
www.thestreamcenter.com/pda
Then searching for the station. Once you find your station you can save it as a favorite and access it much easier.
On the front page of www.thestreamcenter.com/pda it says...
"Clear Channel Stream Announcement:
PDA users can now exclusively access Clear Channel live streams directly from the Mobile Stream Center! (Thanks Bret!). The streams and this announcement are not displayed on desktop PCs."
Clear Channel stations stream via Windows Media Player by default.
No jumping through hoops. Nothing needed that doesn't come built into Windows Mobile by default.
FYI, I am sitting here streaming/listening to your KJR 950 on my phone as I'm typing. Costas is interviewing Matt Cheney regarding drug testing in the NFL...
Good luck!
Okay, so I'm a dork. Had pIE installed and didn't know it, as it was only under the menu and nowhere else.
Started that up, found it's in mobile mode instead of "look like a PC mode" like I think Opera does, and finally saw the links like you mention! Thought I was home free until...
Had some funny language prompting me. Hit one side, and ended up with a save screen. The file saved made a .php file I think, and I can't figure out how to get Window Mobile's Media Player to open it. The other options all didn't seem to do much of anything, and Pocket Streamer on my phone didn't do a .php either!
I'll play some more, as I *think* I'm close... but I'm not there yet.
Got it!
Turned off automatic language detection in pIE, then when I went back to the link, it prompted me to save a .wma file that DOES stream in Windows Media Player. And I've saved the link as a Playlist as well!
Thanks for all the help!!!!
Glad you got something to work!
Just to clarify, the browser needs to be in mobile mode, otherwise the Clear Channel "WMP PDA only" links will not show up. I noticed when I click on a link for a station that streams via mp3, it saves a .pls file to the "My Device\My Documents" folder - but, it happens automatically. I am not prompted and don't have to approve the save. It just saves itself, then starts playing using the TCPMP player. I have not noticed any file - of any type - like that when I play a Clear Channel station. However, it's totally possible it may just save a file of some type somewhere that I have not come across. After clicking the Clear Channel "PDA Only" link, Windows Media Player opens automatically, the stream buffers and then plays. I have not come across any .wma streams to see how that kind works on my phone.
Clearchannel Streaming Utility for Windows Mobile Devices.. Works in IE.. Doesn't seem to work in Opera, though it may be the link I'm providing.. I may possibly work on this and see if I can get it to work in Opera.
http://www.verrigan.net/cchannel.php
[edit]
This utility scans the website for the clearchannel stream.. It then gives you the then-current stream URL for that radio station. It should open the stream in Windows Media Player. (in IE.. Not with Opera)
BTW, the utility is not strictly for use on Windows Mobile, but not many other phones use mms URLs for streaming as far as I could tell. It does, however, stream on regular PCs running Windows or Linux (with a MMS stream media player).
if you want most uk radio stations use coreplayer or the htc stream app , head over to www.musicradio.com and choose your favorite radio , note down the url and you get perfect streaming eg for GWR Bristol its http://media-ice.musicradio.com/GWRBristolMP3 LBC is the same address but ends with LBC973MP3Low , if you have an ipod touch or an iphone you can download an app called radio which is poor in visuals but shows the url to the stations which you can type into your streaming app , or in pie head over to pdatuner.com this has all the stations as well but in lower 64 quality
Clear Channel is now blocking themediastream.com from streaming their radio stations?
yup, stay tuned to see if they work it out
just came across this old post, appears to be worked out
Did we ever get this figured out? Most of the Local Stations I listen to are Clear Channel Stations....Do they just not care that there are probably many more WM users out here then Iphone users? Or did they make some sort of exclusive deal with Iphone? I was using the http://www.thestreamcenter.com/pda method for a while and then nothing...it seems like they intentionally don't want WM users to have access to there online stream!
I just fired this email off to the Communications / Media Relations contact at ClearChannel
"To Whom it may concern,
I am just wondering why, it seems, that Clear Channel seems to have abandoned Millions of Windows Mobile users and Welcomed the "Trendy" but yet less used IPhone/Blackberry users? You have embraced and are Pushing the use of "IHeart Radio" on all your radio stations, Yet this program only works on IPhone's and I think Blackberry Phones, So us Window Mobile users are left "Swinging in the Breeze"!
Then when we find a way around your "Lack of Support" by using a website like http://www.thestreamcenter.com/pda and You slap us in the face again and shut down your stream to such websites....What Gives?
I am a loyal listener of at least two of your stations in the Cleveland Area, One FM and one AM station, and when I am not near a radio it would be really nice to be able to hear your show on my PDA, but I am forced to listen to other stations sub-standard programming because you at ClearChannel seem to have an "Issue" with Windows Mobile for some reason! I just read an online news report that stated that IPhone users have up'd your listener base by 15%....I think you will up it much more then that if you included support for Windows Mobile Users!
I apologise for the Rant if I have just missed something and am totally off base about your support for WM, If so please advise me of a program that you know of that does allow us access to your online programming.
If I have to keep going out and finding other Radio Stations that support WM online, then I might find programming that I like and abandon ClearChannel all together, after all why have loyalty to a company that has no loyalty to a large group of it's listeners!"
Well see if I get a response!

Yea...They responded, Life just got hectic for me and forgot to post their responce here....To sum it up they basically gave me a couple good strokes by saying that they are always looking to improve their product and that the Windows Mobile Platform would definately be in "Consideration" for future versions...blah....blah...blah!
Sorry I did not follow up sooner!

Never mind... Streamcenter works once again.
Good to know....I'll have to give it a try again!

Listen to Lex and Terry on Touch Pro?

I have WM6.5 on my TP and I used to listen to Lex and Terry radio show on it when my local radio show turned them off at 9am. I drive a long distance so it entertains me for the drive. Anywho, now they have "secured" the URL so you can't stream it anymore unless thru the web browser on their site. Since Opera will not play it I am stuck.
I did manage to get the streaming link, and it works on my computer but I don't know how to get it to work on my phone:
http://a1871.l4072211870.c40722.g.l...wlexandterrycom&SITE_ID=11513&STATION_ID=LTTX
It works on Windows Media Player on my comp, just not on the phone. I tried Coreplayer and WMP.
Having the same exact problem as you.
Me too. Bump.
I emailed Peter and he said:
"When we moved to the new site, part of that came with having to "secure" the stream... meaning that there is no URL to give, you have to listen thru that browser, which doesn't work on most smart phones... sorry.
hopefully an app or the software for your browser will come about soon."
Maybe if he gets a few more emails he will make an available URL we can run through CorePlayer.
P.S. I don't think the URL I posted works anymore.
It will work in Skyfire. However since Skyfire will timeout after like 5min of activity you have to keep touching the screen. Anyone know a workaround so Skyfire wont time out?

The SkyFire timeout is the worst feature ever.
i downloaded the playlist file and it opened with kinoma.
kinoma is asking for username and password.
so my question is what is the user and pass or where can i go to create my own user and pass.
sorry to digg this post from the grave but i found it through google while trying to figure out how to stream lex and terry since my current radio station dropped the show.
does anyone know where i can register.
I always use spb online, and in there there is a radio application which you can open a link

[Q] IPTV from network provider on Android

I asked in a few forums now and got no answer for this:
I wonder if it is possible to get IPTV which i have in bundle of my network provider, to my Android phone.
The story so far:
I got a Fritzbox 3370 and changed the Box the way that it is possible to watch my IPTV without that stupid TV-Box that you can get from your provider. For this i use VLC-Player on my Pc and got a .m3u Playlist to switch to all available channels. Inside that m3u there are all rtp adresses for all different channels: ie. rtp://@233.51.128.25:1234.
Now i searched for an app that can handle those Adresses or even better handle that m3u. But i found nothing! I tried many different apps (ie. VPlayer, VLC Player (alpha), MXPlayer, MoboPlayer,VLC S&C....) but non of them worked. All of them got an error when i tried to open a link or m3u. Another Problem with that m3u is that they are deleted instantly on any Android phone which is a known issue (But WHY??) So i tried to open them on my Fritzbox NAS.Didnt work.
What i don't understand is, where the problem is hiding? If i can stream the channels on my PC why i can't on my Galaxy S2? Is that a hardware problem or a network protocol issue or has just noone ever thought about it?
I just want to get free (because i already pay for it when using it on PC) and fast and reliable IPTV on my Smartphone over Wlan and not that crappy IPTV that can be viewed over internet.
So my question now:
Is it possible to get that working? I know that there are many capable people in this good forum who have the knowledge to perhaps program a new app for this or just know in which way it can be done (I can't program otherwise i would have done that instantly because i think many people want to have that app).
Many thanks for your help in advance

There is a great program IPTV. You can find it on Android Market.
Thats not what i asked for...
I know all iptv apps
I'm the author of IPTV app mentioned by Molodoj, here is the link https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=ru.iptvremote.android.iptv
You wasn't able to find it on Google Play before because it's currently available not for all countries, just Russia, exUSSR, and few European countries. I want to add more icons for local channels before sharing it for other countries. Just tell me were you are and I'll add icons and share it for your country.
Many Android devices doesn't support multicast, so I'm suggesting to use UDP proxy in your LAN to workaround this. From what I know, Samsung Galaxy S2 does support multicast, so this should work without proxy. You can use Daroon Player to play rtp streams, or try to fix the link to udp://@233.51.128.25:1234 and open it with MX Video Player or VPlayer (but I'm not 100% sure that this will work). You will be able to watch it with many other streaming players with use of proxy.
About deleting m3u playlist from sd-card. This happens because Android scans sd-card, reads m3u playlists and fixes them by deleting the links to files which could not be found on your sd-card. Since you have URLs instead of files in your playlist, Android thinks that playlist is empty and deletes it. To avoid this just create some folder, place there empty ".nomedia" file and your m3u playlist. After that Android will exclude that folder from scanning and won't touch the playlist.
Hey many thanks you are my hero!
I downloaded your program IPTV (which was available indeed but i hadnt found it I'm in Germany btw) and used Daroon Player (which isnt available here via GooglePlay but i got it from internet). And it WORKS!
I only have one problem. If i use your proxy (which is hard to configure because of all the bad letters which arent supported by my german windows ) i get get only colored screen and no sound when starting a channel.
But if i use no proxy i get mostly good pictures and sound!. But the picture keeps hanging a little with overlapping pictures for 1sec ie. its ok but i think its because of the WLAN IPTV issue? But i wonder why udp proxy gives me no result ? Or wouldnt that bring me any advantage because my S2 can handle rtp directly anyway?
UDP-to-HTTP proxy is not developed by me, this is a third party software. Possibly it has only Russian localization, I'm not sure. From what I know, it was tested a lot, including rtp streams, and you are the first who reports the issue with sound.
I can guess that this happens because it was developed to support plain udp streams. Since rtp is extension over udp, in most cases the proxy works fine with rtp streams also. However there could be some variations of rtp which are not properly supported by the proxy.
There could be some data loss with udp multicast over Wi-Fi, so some hangs are possible, proxy should help to avoid this, but it doesn't work for you
You can also try to install udpxy on your WLAN router, it has better rtp support. But installing this might be not trivial and may require flashing your router.
Also, I'm interesting if it is possible to watch rtp streams with MX Video Player. From what I know, it won't play rtp://@... URLs, but would play udp://@... Could you please try to open this URL udp://@233.51.128.25:1234 by manually input URL in MX Video Player?
Yes i think i don't want to install upd on my router. I already changed my firmware to get this IPTV working.
But i tried MX Player and with the change to udp://@ it works!
Hope that helps you, too

Great software! I've tried it on Samsung Galaxy S. Works good with m3u playlists.
Hi,
I know I'm reopening an old thread but it's the one that seems to fit most my problem.
I'm trying to play a multicast rtp stream on my openhour chameleon (rk3288 device)device. the stream is like this rtp://239.186.64.192:10000
I have tried installing IPTV pro app, Dragoon player, MX, VLC, all other players I could try, it does not work.
I also tried to change to rtp://@ or udp://@ and enter it manually in MX or VLC, no chance.
I don't want to install the proxy on my router as it is my ISP router.
The strange thing is that this rtp://239.186.64.192:10000 works on all my other android devices, Sony android TV, Minix, Openhour Gecko
I have asked Openhour but they have no idea, should I ask Rockchip the builder of the motherboard.
I really would love to get access to my local iptv.
Hope someone can help me

Feature Request: Network Browser for local server (SMB share/Network folder I think)

Hello, would it be possible to hope to have a simpler access to the local server (Network Browser (SMB share / Network folder I think) like VLC or in most file explorers). This is a function I have been waiting for a long time on MXPlayer because to play my files on my local server with MXPlayer, I have to go through a third-party browser ("FX Explorer") and it's not always the most convenient. It seems to me that this function is quite basic and useful for many users. You could be inspired by the VLC Network Browser, for example, which is very simple and intuitive (their video decoding is however not as good as on MXPlayer). I thank you very much for your attention to this request and I apologize for my bad English.
